Summer of Our Lives

✦✧✦

I'm going under and this time I
fear there's no one to save me;
This all or nothing really got a
way of driving me crazy.

I need somebody to heal,
Somebody to know,
Somebody to have,
Somebody to hold;
It's easy to say
But it's never the same
I guess I kinda liked the way
you numbed all the pain.

Now the day bleeds
Into nightfall
And you're not here
To get me through it all
I let my guard down
And then you pulled the rug
I was getting kinda used to
being someone you loved.

Court of Ravenia; 1002 A.D.

"This is the third time you have blasted my brain, witch," Niklaus growled unlatching his fangs from his prey's neck as Aurelia stared at him stoically with her hand raised in the air.

Aurelia smirked, "Your brother does not have a mannered bone in his body, Elijah." She said looking back at the elder Mikaelson who was shaking his head.

"Forgive me, he always was a little insolent." Elijah snarked making Niklaus glare at him.

"All I am saying is, we will not learn to feed if you continue to burst our heads every moment!" He grumbled.

Kol scoffed from the plush seat he was sitting on, "At least you get to feed a little. I have been cut off, entirely!" He glared at Aurelia with a pout.

Aurelia gave him a blank stare, "Because you have killed three of my maids already!" She snapped making him scoff.

"Oh, don't pout, you two! Let me concentrate so I can compel her." Rebekah scolded turning back to the scared brunette in front of her.

"Why does she learn to compel just yet when we haven't gotten past the basics?" Niklaus demanded in a rigid tone.

"Because you, Finn, and Kol need to learn better control first. That is only how you will learn compulsion." Aurelia answered as she sauntered over to sit beside Elijah.

"And unlike you all, I have learned everything there is to know!" Elijah smirked boyishly making Aurelia chuckle as his brothers stared at him but he just grinned.

"Not everything, Elijah, but close enough." The Ravena corrected making him nod.

"Oh, sod off!" Kol grumbled before looking at Aurelia with a frown, "I'm hungry!" He whined.

Aurelia rolled her eyes looking at Niklaus and Kol being grumpy, "You will get to feed when you can stop being a savage." She deadpanned.

"YOU WILL NOT COMMAND ME WITH WHAT I CAN AND CANNOT DO!" Niklaus yelled in anger.

Aurelia gave him a blank stare, "I will command anyone and everyone living under my roof, for I am the Queen. And you will respect that."

The Original stared at her offended by the low threatening tone in which she talked to him.

She simply smirked, as if challenging him as his glare hardened.

He lunged towards her with a growl but was met by nothingness when she disappeared from her place and appeared beside Rebekah.

Kol could not control his laughter whereas Elijah snickered at Niklaus' sour face.

Rebekah smirked with a little pride welling up in her chest as she watched the scene from beside her compelled prey.

Aurelia gave Niklaus a tight-lipped smile, "Now that your rage has been exercised, how about you try again?"

He grumbled as he bit into his wrist to heal the woman he was feeding on earlier and then he sunk his fangs into her neck again.

Aurelia smirked in delight as Elijah and Kol exchanged amused glances.

"How do you know so much about the abominations that we are?" Finn spoke up from near the window.

He hadn't fed since she had begun teaching them. The one time he did, he killed someone and after that, he didn't try.

It took all of the patience that Aurelia had inside of her to not scowl openly at his choice of word.

His siblings just rolled their eyes at his colossal gloominess.

"I come from a long line of witches who wrote all the spells performed in this world. I know about the immortality spell used on you." She answered dismissively.

"And what line would that be?"

Aurelia rolled her eyes. She had hoped that the questions would stop. It was no secret that out of all the siblings she dispised only Finn.

"The Ravena bloodline," Aurelia replied making all of their eyes widen except Rebekah and Niklaus.

Finn gaped at her as she watched them intently, "B-but how is that possible! Those are just legends." He gasped.

"Then consider me a legend walking." She deadpanned.

She turned to Niklaus who was about to almost kill another maid as she closed her fist and Niklaus' fangs were pulled back as he groaned and involuntarily healed the woman because of being controlled by Aurelia's magic.

"The session is dismissed." Saying this, Aurelia removed her magic from the Original and projected it onto the maids present so to make them forget about ever coming into the room.

They walked out in a daze as Kol turned to look at the Ravena with an incredulous smile, "I will never understand how you control minds that way."

Aurelia allowed a small smile to grace her lips, "Practice, darling. You can too if you try; not like I can but almost."

Kol boyishly grinned at her before Rebekah came up to her with a sheepish smile on her face. Aurelia raised an eyebrow at that.

"Can I come with you to see Adonis?" She asked hopefully as Aurelia watched her face with a straight expression.

She thought about it for a moment, considering that she would never allow anyone near Adonis. Especially not someone she just met.

But then she saw the hopeful look in the blonde's pale gray eyes and her heart melted.

She smiled, "Of course, come."

Rebekah smiled excitedly as she followed behind the raven-haired queen after she bid farewell to the Mikaelson brothers.

Aurelia almost giggled when she saw Rebekah walking a step behind her just as everyone else did in the palace.

"It's alright, Rebekah, I would not be offended if you walk alongside me." She said to her making her eyes sparkle as she stepped beside her.

"Why have you been so kind to me?" Rebekah suddenly asked making the Ravena furrow her brows.

"Whatever do you mean?" She questioned.

Rebekah cleared her throat, "You have given multiple headaches to my brothers; even Elijah, when he ate your share of the pie and he is the closest to you out of us all. But you haven't used your magic on me. Why?"

Aurelia stopped in front of her bed chamber and turned to look at the blonde, "Because I know the feeling of being the odd one out; feeling the burden of no one understanding you."

Rebekah almost got teary-eyed before the Ravena reached out her thumb to lightly stroke the Original's cheek, "Us girls have got to stick together."

She grinned as Rebekah chuckled and nodded before Aurelia opened the doors to her chamber.

"It is alright, Mary, you can leave now," Aurelia announced to the helper taking care of Adonis in her absence.

Mary nodded before curtseying in front of them both and leaving as Aurelia led the Mikaelson sister over to Adonis' crib.

Rebekah chuckled when she saw the infant looking up at them with his eyes wide open.

Aurelia picked him up in her arms as she came to stand beside the blonde.

She continued to coo at her son as he cackled and laughed making both women chuckle.

Rebekah watched Adonis make faces as he watched them both.

It made something stir up in the blonde. It made an open wound inside her, bleed.

"Rebekah?" Aurelia asked as she finally looked up from Adonis' eyes and saw the Original's watery orbs.

"Oh, you poor thing, come here." She gently dragged her towards her bed while Rebekah sniffled.

"What is it, tell me? What troubles you?" Aurelia asked in a soft voice as she waved her hand to shut the doors and then placed it on Rebekah's arm.

"I always adored being around children. I imagined becoming a mother someday; to have children of my own as I would watch them grow up into miraculous individuals." Rebekah stopped to let out a whimper.

"When my mother placed this...curse on me. I didn't realize until later that I was no longer fit to become a mother. That I would never—"

She broke down crying before she could complete her sentence. Aurelia felt like her heart was breaking.

She shifted Adonis in one of her arms as she wrapped the other around the blonde while Rebekah wept in the valley of her neck.

"I promise you, Bekah, someday the pain won't be so much." She whispered as she planted a soft kiss on her temple and cradled the back of her head to comfort her.

Rebekah scrunched her eyes shut as she breathed on her shoulder and realized that maybe she wasn't so alone after all.

Aurelia walked into a restaurant called 'Mystic Grill' with Adonis beside her as they made their way over to the bar.

"Two Bourbons please," Adonis demanded as Aurelia clicked her tongue.

"He's underage, get him a Capri-Sun, instead." She quipped to the blue-eyed bartender who chuckled and nodded.

Adonis glared at Aurelia who suppressed her chuckles as her drink was slid in front of her and Adonis was given his; he looked at it in distaste.

"I don't know, you look pretty underage to me yourself." The bartender said to Aurelia with a grin.

Aurelia rolled her eyes as she read his nametag, "Matt, right?" He nodded smiling, "Don't flirt with me, kid." She snapped.

Matt immediately took a step back grinning as he raised his hands in surrender before disappearing behind the bar.

"He has fascinating eyes," Adonis muttered as he stared after the way Matt left.

Aurelia chuckled, "I'm sure he does, son."

"What can I say, I'm a sucker for good looking guys with striking eyes." He shrugged.

Aurelia was sipping on her drink when Adonis received a call and he excused himself.

Aurelia opened her phone when she heard the message tone chime.

Unknown
Still pissed?

She rolled her eyes.

I wasn't pissed.
I'm just sick of you being
so stupid all the damn
time.

Unknown
Come on, love.
You love me too much
to be sick of me just
yet.

Oh, I don't know.
A thousand years is a
long time after all.

Unknown
Will you tell me now
about what stupid thing
it was that you did?

Darling, maybe it was
marrying your cranky ass.

Unknown
Don't deviate from
what I'm asking.

What if I do?
Stop ordering me.
You're not my father.

Unknown
But I am your husband.
I deserve to know what
you're doing and if you're
safe or not.

She smirked before her eyes caught a black-haired man watching her from across the bar.

He waved with a cocky grin on her face making her scoff.

Well, right now there's
a hot guy watching me.
I'm gonna say hi.

Unknown
Yes, do that.

She grinned as she waited for him to send another message.

Unknown
After that, tell me his
name so I can kill him.

There it was. She realized she knew him too well as she giggled looking at her phone.

"You're a new face here." She heard a voice say, making her look up to find the man from across the bar now sitting beside her.

"Yes, I just moved here." She replied with a blank face.

"Oh? Well, then as a member of this wonderful society that this town has, I take it upon myself to welcome you." He said trying to be charming as he put forward his hand.

"Damon Salvatore." He introduced making her raise an eyebrow as she smiled back, placing her hand in his.

She internally laughed at how dumb the man was when he thought he was trying to woo her by going to place his lips on her knuckles.

He stopped when he saw a wedding band on her finger before brushing his lips on her skin and raising his head to look back at her.

He saw her smirking, "Did you move here with your family?"

She chuckled, "Yes, my son, actually. My husband is usually away for business. But we're going strong." She grinned internally when she saw his eyes widening in surprise.

"Oh?" He raised an eyebrow with interest, "How long have you two been married?"

She clicked her tongue on the roof of her jaw, "Oh, feels like a thousand years now." She smiled in delight.

"You still haven't told me your name, darling." Damon smiled.

"Aurelia Martinez." She replied politely as his eyes lit up in recognition.

"Oh, yeah, one of my friends who works at the high school told me about the mysterious new teacher."

Aurelia's shoulders relaxed as she chuckled, "Well, that would be me." She shrugged.

"I hope you have a sweet stay, darling. Although," Damon leaned towards her, lowering his voice, "stay out of the woods in the dark, things have a tendency to go bump here." He joked.

Aurelia snickered at the hidden meaning behind his words, pretending to be an unsuspecting human, "Noted."

That was when Adonis joined them back and gave Damon a once over before turning to Aurelia, "We gotta go, mum." He muttered to her intently.

Aurelia immediately understood the urgency behind his voice as she gulped down her drink and smiled at Damon, "It was nice meeting you, Mr. Salvatore. See you soon."

Damon raised his drink to that and smiled politely as Adonis and he gave each other curt nods and the mother and son duo walked away.

"What is it?" She asked lowly making sure Damon's hearing wouldn't catch their words.

"Guess what? An old friend called." He replied making her raise her eyebrows.

"Kitty-Kat is here, maa." Her eyes widened listening to those words, "She said she knows where the moonstone is." He added.

"Where is she?" She questioned.

He smiled, "Waiting at home. Come on." He said as he placed his hand on her back and began leading her to their car.

She was checking her phone again when they stopped because someone whistled from behind them.

"Nice rack!" The person said making them both turn around as Aurelia's eyes hardened whereas Adonis was already making his way towards the brown-haired guy.

"You know what's nice? My fist!" Saying this Adonis punched his hand through his jaw, breaking the skin of his lip.

"You dick!" The guy shrieked as he looked at the blood covering his fingers after he touched his face.

Getting angry, the guy threw a punch at Adonis which he easily stepped out of the way, smirking.

Aurelia just rolled her eyes as she checked her nails while leaning against their car.

"I'm gonna kill you!" The guy yelled as Adonis chuckled, "You can try. But you'll probably end up dead for being an uncultured swine."

This enraged the brunet further but before a bulky man came out of nowhere and pushed the guy away from Adonis.

"Tyler! Calm down!" He yelled at him before looking back at Adonis with a glare.

"Don't look at me, he's the one who catcalled a woman. Teach him some manners if you know him well." Saying this, Adonis sauntered back to the Ravena.

"Why did you control my mind into not killing him? We've killed people for less." He questioned as soon as she started the car.

"That's because he's an un-triggered werewolf. Nik needs one to break his curse if we find the doppelganger." She answered.

Adonis hummed with a nod, "You're wicked, dearest mother."

She chuckled, "That's in my blood, love."

"I'm gonna tell Nik what that Tyler guy did. He'll make his death even more painful." Adonis snickered imagining the scenario as Aurelia remained quiet.

"Will you talk to Nik again?" He asked sensing her mood.

Aurelia stayed quiet as she pulled up outside their small mansion, "I don't know. But I guess we have to talk to someone else, right now." She said gesturing to the brunette leaning by their door, smirking.

"My fierce Petrova!" Aurelia grinned as she got out of the car and rushed towards Katherine the same way she did.

"Oh, my favorite Mikaelson!" The doppelganger whispered as she wrapped her hands around the Ravena and hugged her close.

"And here I thought Elijah was your favorite Mikaelson," Adonis called out making Katherine roll her eyes.

"Shut up, Addie." She snapped, grinning as she continued embracing Aurelia.

"God, I missed you!" Aurelia breathed in her hair before she pressed her lips to her head.

Katherine smiled lovingly before pulling back as she walked over to hug Adonis.

"Mom, save me, an insect is hugging me!" Adonis yelled dramatically gaining a smack on the back of his head from Katherine.

He laughed while wrapping his arms around her.

"You kids coming in or what?" They heard Aurelia say from the kitchen as Adonis slung his arm around Katherine's neck and they made their way inside.

"Guys, you gotta invite me in," Katherine said when she got stuck at the entrance.

Adonis chuckled as he shrugged off his jacket whereas Aurelia watched amused.

"What say, Lia? Can we leave her at the door?" Adonis quipped.

Katherine glared playfully, "How about I stab you?"

Aurelia chuckled, "Come on in, Kat."

Adonis got shoved by her elbow as she passed him before he followed them both into their kitchen where Aurelia took out wine glasses.

Adonis groaned, "Yes, please! Anything is better than a Capri-Sun."

Katherine looked amused, "Who gave you Capri-Sun?"

"A hot bartender with blue eyes," Adonis smirked.

"You met Matt?" Katherine asked before she saw them nod, "God, his eyes are so blue!" She said resting her face on her hand.

"But, there's this girl here—"

Adonis stopped her before Katherine could say further, "Oh, no no, Kat, you don't swing for both teams. That's me. You swing for both brothers."

Katherine chuckled, "Only the Salvatores. It's fun to mess with them."

"Oh, I met one of them. Damon. Nice bloke," Aurelia stated making Katherine look surprised.

"You're the first person who has called Damon nice." She gaped.

"I smelled stupidity on that guy," Adonis commented thoughtfully.

Katherine snorted, "He is stupid at times. Others, he is resourceful."

"Why are you here, Kat?" Aurelia questioned out of the blue.

Katherine sighed, "To get my freedom."

Adonis raised an eyebrow at that, "From Nik?"

Katherine nodded.

"Kat, you always knew Nik won't kill you. I would never let him." Aurelia said softly, placing her hand on Katherine's.

Katherine sighed, "Yeah, but it's good to not continue looking over my shoulder for once."

"You never deserved such a painful life. I'm sorry." The Ravena whispered with her eyes grim.

Katherine smiled sadly, "You were the only one who thought that way. You were the only one who understood." She said taking her hand in hers and giving it a light squeeze.

Adonis clapped his hands to gain their attention thus breaking their small moment, "Stop being mushy now. Before you two make me cry."

Katherine chuckled as Aurelia shook her head fondly at her son.

"Come on, Kat, tell us what you know about the infamous Elena Gilbert," Aurelia smirked.

The next few weeks were going to be eventful.

Heyy, babies!! How are you guys?

So, Lia frying Nik's brain? EPIC!

Honestly, I loved writing a glimpse of her relationship with all the Mikaelsons. Especially about the part with Rebekah.

I introduced another ability of hers. She can practically mind control, someone, without lifting a finger or talking to them.

Now, of course Lia and Addie go to the Mystic Grill the first chance they get.

Aww, Matty-Blue, Adonis likes you. Be nice.

Nik and Lia's texts are the BEST!! They make me so mushy!!

Omg! Damon is here!! What kind of a relationship do you want him to have with Lia and Addie?

FUCK YOU TYLER!!

Boy, Lia is wicked.

KATHERINE IS HERE!!! Love this woman so much!!

I loved writing Addie and Kat's relationship. It was beautiful to me.

Aww that little moment between Kat and Lia??? Oml!! It warmed my heart.

Oh boy, Elena, you got a lot coming for you baby.
