☽FIFTEEN☾
And So We Met
✦✧✦
And it's peaceful in the deep
'Cause either way you cannot breathe
No need to pray, no need to speak
Now I am under
Oh, and it's breaking over me
A thousand miles out to the sea bed
Found the place to rest my head
Never let me go, never let me go
Never let me go, never let me go
And the arms of the ocean are carrying me
And all this devotion was rushing over me
And the questions I have for a sinner like me
But the arms of the ocean deliver me

New Orleans; 1919
Adonis waited impatiently at the gates of the opera house for Niklaus and Aurelia to arrive, checking his pocket watch again and again.
They were both supposed to arrive for the show about twenty minutes ago and they still weren't here.
Elijah was already inside with his date and so were Kol and Rebekah.
Adonis worried that perhaps Niklaus and Aurelia had another one of their fights. They had been having a lot of those recently and he worried that they would end up doing something drastic.
He was about to go back inside when he was hit by an incomprehensible force and his body was slammed onto the wall next to the entrance.
He couldn't register what was happening to him until he heard a monstrous growl from a figure towering over him.
The aura of hatred coming off from the man was too familiar for the blond. His head snapped up and he widened his eyes when he saw Mikael's condescending grin mocking him.
"Well, hello, Adonis. Here we meet again." Mikael smirked and before Adonis even had the chance to attack the Original, he saw Mikael raising his hand above his head.
The blond caught sight of a reflection, as if it was from a crystal glass object before he saw a dagger fashioned out of clear glass coming towards his chest.
He yelled out loudly when the tip of the dagger pierced his skin and Mikael pressed it deeper insude his chest before Mikael's body was roughly pushed to the side just before Adonis' eyes fluttered open.
"YOU WILL NOT KILL MY SON!" Niklaus roared in anger as Aurelia immediately caught Adonis' body in her arms.
"Addie, Addie wake up!" She shrieked with fresh, hot tears streaming down her face. "Please, don't do this to me, please, wake up, baby!" She yelled, shaking him and checking for any signs of life.
Niklaus held Mikael in a chokehold. "I am here to kill you and everyone you love. And that includes those two!" Mikael spat before smashing the back of his head on Niklaus' face, freeing himself.
Aurelia saw Mikael trying to attack Niklaus again as she recognised the glass dagger that was once used to kill her.
Unlike her, it could actually kill Adonis.
And Mikael was in possession of the weapon that could take her son's life.
A scream rippled through her throat as she pushed out her hand with the full force of her magic directed towards Mikael while her eyes glowed a flaming shade of orange.
Mikael was instantly thrown back from Niklaus as as the Original instantly dashed to the both of them.
"Come on, help me get him out of here." He urged the Ravena who looked at him in disbelief.
"We have to stay and fight Mikael. I can kill him!"
Niklaus rolled his eyes looking back at Mikael who had already gained consciousness and was making his way towards them.
"Reina, our son is dying! We need to run!" He spat before picking up the unconscious blond as Aurelia held Adonis' other side and the trio sped away.
Niklaus and Aurelia came to a stop in front of an abandoned werehouse as the Ravena cloaked themselves and Niklaus laid Adonis down on one of the workshop tables.
Aurelia came near his head as Niklaus tore the front of Adonis' shirt to have a look at the wound.
"Nik, he's dying. He's dying!" She cried as she felt the warm temperature of his body.
Niklaus immediately took her hand and made her look into his eyes. "He is not dying, today, Reina. We are not going to lose him!" He affirmed emotionally.
She saw the hope in his eyes as she nodded her head furiously and transferred all her attention in trying to save her son.
"Here, channel me!" Niklaus offered giving her his hands as she grabbed them and closed her eyes, working her magic to heal Adonis.
Adonis' body shook and trembled beneath their hands in agony as he fought to stay alive.
She chanted in a loud tone as Niklaus scrunched his face at the pain he felt when she was channeling his powers.
Adonis gasped loudly as he raised up with his eyes wide open but Aurelia placed her palm on his eyelids and sent him into a deep sleep.
The married couple slumped over the table as they took a breath of relief. Niklaus then looked back up in her eyes, "is now a good time to apologise about our fight earlier?" He grinned slightly making her choke out a chuckle as she shook her head.
"I don't even remember what we were fighting about." She mumbled rolling her eyes before walking around to his side and wrapping her arms around his torso.
"What are we gonna do now?" She asked him softly.
He looked into her bright orbs and smiled sadly at her. New tears stung his eyes for what he was about to do.
"Mikael still has that dagger."
Aurelia nodded biting the inside of her cheek as her arms tightened around him. "I know."
"We might not be able to protect him the next time this happens." He whispered in a heavy tone while running his hands through her hair.
"I know."
"Then you also know that as long as I am with you both, you will never be safe." His voice cracked in the end as he gulped harshly.
She scrunched her eyes when she felt a tear fall from his orbs and onto her cheek. Her shoulders shook as she clenched her fists around the fambric of his attire.
She knew what he was getting at.
They had discussed this multiple times but they had never considered going through with it until now.
Tonight could have been the last time they ever saw Adonis and Niklaus blamed himself for that.
"Please, don't do this." She begged.
Niklaus cradled the back of her head whilst rubbing his thumb over her cheek with his other hand. "I have to, sweetheart." He whispered.
She hugged him tighter. "We will figure out a way. Please, Nik. Just don't do this."
"There is no other way, my love. As long as I am with you all, Mikael will never stop hunting."
"Nik, no!" She begged when she felt him start to pull away from her. She held on to him for as long as she could before he used his own strength and stepped back with equal torment on his face as her.
"I will send Elijah or Kol here as soon as I can make certain that they are okay. Do not drop the barrier for anyone but them and when they come here, run. Run as fast as you all can." He affirmed with determination.
Aurelia shook her head, hiccups escaping her throat as she cried while watching him prepare to leave.
She had never felt so broken in her life. Never had she felt so shattered.
Niklaus walked over to where Adonis slept as he bent down to kiss his forehead. "Be strong, my son. Take care of my Reina, will you?" He muttered to him with teary eyes as he brushed off his blond strands from his face and sighed deeply.
He then gave Aurelia a heartbreaking smile that made her want to scream in agony.
"Don't leave, Nik." She whispered to him while reaching out to take his hand and he held hers in a death grip.
He brought her closer to himself as he planted his lips on hers without a warning.
She kissed him back with equal fervor as he kissed her knowing that there was no tomorrow. Knowing, that it was going to be a long while before either saw each other again.
He kissed her with the mad passion that ran through his veins for her. He kissed her with the utter devotion he held for his Reina. He kissed her with all of himself.
They gazed into each other's eyes for a moment as they rested their foreheads together after separating their lips.
"I will forever be yours, Reina." He breathed heavily.
She let out a sob and caressed his cheekbones, "I will forever be yours too, Nik."
And then he was gone.
The lingering scent of musk and sandalwood was the only evidence that Niklaus Mikaelson, her husband, was ever there with her.

"Are you sure that he recieved your message?" Adonis asked in impatience as he tapped his foot on the floor.
Elijah rolled his eyes. "Do I need to give it to you in writing?" He muttered. "Yes, Niklaus recieved my message, dumbass!"
Aurelia shook her head at the too as she casually flipped a page of the book she had been reading.
Katherine eyed her with suspicion. "And why are you so calm? You're meeting him after years, too, you know?" She asked subtly, wanting to know about how she was feeling.
Especially since the Ravena had revealed the exact predicament between herself and the blonde Original.
"I am simply waiting for him to return; he is late as usual." She said clicking her tongue as she looked at the time again.
Elijah blinked to her to show his support, considering the fact that she needed all the strength she could gather in order to pretend to be cross with Niklaus whenever he arrived.
Pretending that the couple was on odds wasn't a big deal when they were miles apart. Pretending in front of Adonis, out of everyone else, was more than a big deal.
She didn't know if she could do it without blowing her cover.
She just did not want Adonis to find out about the real reason Niklaus left.
Knowing him, it was going to shatter him because he would then blame himself for their separation.
And that was something that neither Aurelia, nor Niklaus could ever want. They just couldn't watch him do that to himself and so they knew that it was better to keep that news away from his ears.
The doorbell rang and Adonis and Aurelia both looked up alarmed. Elijah squeezed Adonis' shoulder in comfort as he walked past him to open the door.
Aurelia stood up immediately. "Someone's gonna have to invite him in." She said clearing her throat before following after the elder Original.
Adonis stared at the floor in nervousness as he counted the seconds before Aurelia finally opened the door.
The Ravena let out a low gasp when she found his brilliant blue eyes staring back at her with various emotions but the most prominent of them all was longing.
He couldn't believe that he was seeing her after fifteen years of being away from her. He could not believe that she was finally standing in front of him.
Her onyx eyes seemed full of light as her lips were parted in fascination. Her heart throbbed in her chest as all of the immortals could hear how it struggled to leap out of her mouth.
His own pulse raced at an unbelievable pace as his fingers shook at the slight shock of seeing her.
Their lips stayed silent but their eyes communicated in ways that left Elijah stunned as he watched them both from the side.
He too had a wide grin gracing his face as he casually leaned on the doorway, folding his hands on his chest and watching as the couple registered the fact that this was not an imaginative moment.
The sound of the back door slamming caused the two to jump slightly as Aurelia turned around with wide eyes and saw Katherine's sheepish expression and Adonis' missing presence.
He fled.
She face-palmed herself and groaned before breaking into a sprint in hopes of catching her son who perhaps got too nervous to handle this reunion.
"Come on in!" She yelled over her shoulder for her husband who exchanged uncomfortable glances with his elder brother, whom he was seeing after many long decades.
Niklaus entered the house and looked around before his eyes fell on Katherine who stood by the fireplace mantel with an awkward expression.
He glared at her heatedly, threatening to take a step towards her when Elijah stopped him by coming to stand in front of him.
"Don't even think about it, brother." He warned raising his eyebrows.
Niklaus tilted his head. "Are you challenging me?"
Elijah rolled his eyes and scoffed. "You're not a hybrid yet, Niklaus. I'm still stronger than you; not to mention that Lia will kill you if you do anything to Kat." He reminded.
The younger Original narrowed his eyes at him as Katherine smirked at him from Elijah's shoulder.
"At least I found you a new doppelwench to drain?" She commented.
Elijah turned back and glared at her. "Don't push your luck." He deadpanned.
That was when Aurelia's huff was heard when she came back from the backyard. "He left. He bloody left!" She cursed before looking up and meeting Niklaus' eyes again.
He held remorse in his eyes because he did wish to meet Adonis after spending a century without seeing him.
Aurelia couldn't think in that moment. She was just seeing her husband after years and she just wanted to be in his arms.
Katherine sensed their hesitation as she grabbed Elijah's hand and dragged him out of the room and upstairs.
"Well?" Niklaus called out with a smile on his face. "Am I getting a hug?" He asked softly.
And that did it.
Aurelia's tears broke free as she sprinted towards him and jumped on him wrapping her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist.
He sniffed her hair as he tightly held her to himself and a tear rolled down his cheek when she snuggled her face in his neck.
Her sob shook him to the core as he too cried silently while peppering her face with kisses. "I missed you. I missed you so much." He whispered over and over again.
She nodded her head on his shouder before unlocking her legs from around his waist as she stood looking at him with glassy eyes.
"I missed you too, mi corazon." She mumbled touching his face as she stroked his cheekbones and cupped the sides of his neck.
His fingers got lost in her long tresses and his tears refused to stop while he tried to wipe her away. She chuckled lowly in delight as she realized that he was finally in front of him.
That he was finally in her arms.
"I almost died without you, Nik." She spoke before her voice cracked because of a lump in her throat.
"I know, Reina. I know."
She sobbed louder before leaning to join their lips when the door to the porch swung in again.
"Well, that's not what I expected." Adonis said announcing his presence to the weeping couple.
Niklaus and Aurelia instantly stepped away from each other as they looked at Adonis with baffled expressions.
He glared at Niklaus for a moment before turning to Aurelia. "So, you've forgiven him for cheating on you?" He spat.
She shook her head, "Addie, I—"
"You don't forgive people, maa. And I know that if he had actually done something like that, at least one of you would have been dead by now. I just had to confirm my doubts somehow but you both did it for me." He stated interrupting her.
Niklaus looked at Aurelia who looked like all life had been sucked out of her because of the accusatory glance Adonis was giving her.
"Adonis, if you would please let me explain—"
"NO!" He yelled with now bloodshot eyes. "The last memory I have of you is listening to your voice in my unconscious state telling her that you're leaving. And then for a century, there was no word from you. No news. Nothing." He drawled angrily.
He had always seen Aurelia suffer in Niklaus' absence but she too knew that Adonis had suffered as well.
Niklaus Mikaelson was not just a father to Adonis. He was his best friend and confidante. He was his partner in crime.
And on one hand Aurelia did meet Niklaus over the years; on the other, Adonis did not even get to say goodbye to him.
She knew that had always torn him apart. And she had tried so many times to get the Original to come back to them.
But Niklaus just couldn't imagine going through the pain he felt when he had carried his son's almost dead body inside that werehouse.
From a third person's view, all three of them were right in their dilemmas and sacrifices.
But at the moment, Adonis needed to release the pent up anger he had accumulated over the years.
He stalked up to Niklaus and grabbed him by his collars. "YOU LEFT!" He yelled.
Niklaus refused to meet his eyes as he did not even try to protest when Adonis pushed him backwards.
"ADONIS STOP!" Aurelia yelled as she pulled Adonis away from Niklaus and the blond glared at him with furious golden eyes.
Adonis freed himself from his grip as he glared at Niklaus. "Break your curse and leave. Just like the last time." He spat before walking back out of the door.
"ADONIS!" Aurelia yelled after him but she knew that this time he had really left.
She clasped her hand onto her mouth as she tried to muffle the sob that threatened to escape.
That was when she heard Niklaus sniff and turned around to find him looking at the ground with an utterly regretful expression.
"This is all my fault." He whispered without meeting her gaze.
Her heart broke seeing him like this as she wrapped her arm around him and buried his face in her neck.
"It's ours. We decided our family's fate a century ago. You shouldn't have to bear that burden alone." She whispered stroking the ends of his blond curls.
He held onto her as if his life depended on it as he kept his eyes shut. "Will he ever forgive us?"
"He will, baby. You know he loves you. And he will forgive us. Both of us." She whispered.
Niklaus nodded and tighetened his grip on her as the sun set under the horizon outside.
For now, they were in each other's arms for the first time in years and for the first time, they believed that they wouldn't have to part again.
They hoped that this was permanent.
Hiii, loves! How are you all?
So, here is the reunion you all had been waiting for and the exact revelation about why they separated.

I really hope that I was able to give you all the kind of reunion you were looking for.
