The next morning, everyone got ready for the wedding. Nithya wore the saree, which Raghav had selected that day.
Everyone were admiring her beauty, while our handsome hero also came there wearing a same color shirt, which surprised everyone.
"Hey Raghav! We both are twinning!" Nithya smiled excitedly and gave a hifi to him.
"Yess! This is so unexpected!" Raghav told her.
"You were the one who selected this saree, then how could you forget that I'd be wearing the same color?" She questioned him.
"It's true that I selected this, but I didn't knew that you'd be wearing this today."
"Oh okay."
"By the way you are looking pretty." He complemented.
"Paara! For the first time you are complementing my looks!" Nithya was surprised to hear his compliment.
"Haha! Felt like tell you today. I guess that is not a crime."
"Yeah yeah!"
As it was time for the muhurtham, Raghav and Nithya went to the stage. Everyone were surprised to see them both wearing the same color dress.
"Did you guys plan and wore same colors?" Sindhu asked them.
"Nah, we didn't plan Sindhu." Raghav replied.
"Then how are you guys matching so perfectly?" Shravan joined Sindhu.
"I didn't plan anything mama.. but he only selected my saree." Nithya replied like a good girl. Shravan and Sindhu were shocked to hear this.
"What is this Raghav? You didn't tell me that you both went for shopping?" Sindhu asked him.
" I only selected this saree for her , but we bought it on the day when we went for your purchase. We did not go for separate shopping." Raghav replied. Before Sindhu or Shravan could say something, the wedding rituals started and everyone got busy.
Sindhu was bidding bye to her family as they were about to leave to Shravan's house. She walked towards Raghav with teary eyes.
"Hey girly! Why are you crying? Shravan should only cry for marrying you." Raghav teased her.
"Raghav... I have never done this and I never wanted to do this. But today.. I couldn't stop myself from thanking you. Thanks da.. thanks for being there for me everytime I needed. Not just as a friend or a classmate. At times, you've stood up for me as a brother and a son of my parents. And everyone here would agree to the fact that, without you, this wedding would not have happened. " Sindhu told him holding his hands tightly and letting the tears flow down from her eyes.
"Don't cry Sindhu! I did all these things to make you happy but you are crying now?!" Raghav said and wiped her tears, Sindhu chuckled.
"Take care of aunty and visit amma appa whenever you are free." Sindhu told him.
"Okay madam!" Raghav nodded his head.
"And now that I'm married, I'll ask aunty and amma to find a girl for you." Sindhu winked at him and Raghav got shocked.
"Please don't do that!!!! I want to live peacefully for some more years.." Raghav pleaded.
"Haan haan!" She patted his shoulder and went near Shravan. Everyone bid bye to her half happily and half emotionally. Raghav and Nithya had a tough time to console the elders after Sindhu left.
It's been two days since Sindhu and Shravan's wedding got over.
Nithya had been surprisingly silent since morning. She did not talk to her parents or even to Sindhu. She locked her up inside her room the whole day, lost in her thoughts.
Tharani knocked the door, and after two minutes Nithya came and opened the door.
"What happened da?" Tharani asked her.
"Nothing maa, I'm fine." Nithya plastered a smile on her face.
"I know you da. Something is bothering you, and that's why you are isolating yourselves from us." She pointed out.
"No maa.. I'll be okay.."
Tharani sat on the bed and immediately Nithya laid her head on her mom's lap.
"Are you missing Sindhu?" Tharani asked her as she caressed Nithya's hair
"Yes maa.." Nithya replied, but that is not the only reason for her worry.
"Then talk to her da.. and even if you try to hide it from me and appa, we know that you are not okay. Take your time. Everything will be alright! And share it to us when you feel like telling it. We won't disturb you till then." Tharani assured.
"Thank you maa." Nithya replied and slept.
She woke up after a tight sleep and had dinner with her parents. Still she was not back to normal. So, she decided to go for a walk and relax herself.
She walked for a while and sat near the swimming pool, plugging in her headphones to hear some songs. She closed her eyes and dipped her legs in the water.
Raghav was walking around and found Nithya sitting there. He went near her and tapped her shoulder to gain her attention.
"Heyy!" Nithya smiled at him.
"Didn't sleep?" Raghav asked her.
"I slept in the evening, so not feeling sleepy. What about you?"
"Had a heavy dinner, so thought of coming here for a walk."
"Oh okay, sit down." Nithya moved a bit and he sat near her.
"Wanna hear songs?" She asked him.
"No, the climate is very good, so gonna enjoy it in silence." He replied with a smile
"That's a good idea!" Nithya disconnected her headphones and looked down at the water.
Raghav found a different Nithya, who agreed to be silent rather than being a cheerful chatterbox.
"Are you okay Nithya?" Raghav asked her in concern.
Nithya smiled and nodded no.
"What happened? If you wanna share it with me, I'm ready to hear it."
Nithya felt that sharing it with him, would ease her burden and help her to make a decision.
"I'm confused Raghav." Nithya told him slowly.
"Why?"
"I got my results yesterday." Nithya informed him.
"Oh.. but you told me that you had done your exams well.. are the results not upto your satisfaction?"
"I've scored more than I expected. And that is what my problem is."
"What??" Raghav was even more confused now.
"I thought I'll score around 80% with which I can easily get placed in any of the hospitals in Chennai. But I have scored 92% and a top hospital in US is offering me a job there."
"That's a good news right?"
"If I was in US itself, I would have considered it as a good news. But coming back to India, and spending time with everyone here, I don't feel like going back."
Raghav nodded silently.
"It is not the only reason. In Sindhu's marriage, one of my relatives asked Amma about going back to US again. Amma told her that she is not interested in going back there, she did not want to live away from her family once again..
I went to a boarding school in my 6th standard. Till my 12th standard, I stayed away from my family. I was so engrossed in my studies and I was immature then. When I told my parents that I wanted to study abroad, they immediately agreed to it and came with me leaving everything here. But now, when I sit back and think everything, I realise that, they were missing me so much and that's why they agreed to come with me. These four years were the best part of my life. I enjoyed each and every moment with them.. but only after coming here, I understood that they were happy just for my sake.. they had also missed being with their friends and relatives. I don't want to force them again to come with me..." Nithya told him looking down.
"So, you are going to stay away from your parents?" Raghav asked her.
"I don't know what to decide." She replied honestly.
"I'm just telling my opinion Nithya.. I may be wrong too. You are blessed to have such a supportive parents who are willing to do anything for you. They left back everything and came with you. If they had wanted, they could have just forced you to study in any of the colleges in India. They agreed to come to US, because their happiness is seeing you live happily! I agree that, they had missed a major part of your childhood and that's why they came along with you."
Nithya nodded her head thoughtfully.
"Now, I'm asking you a question. Can you stay away from your parents?" Raghav asked her and Nithya quickly nodded her head horizontally.
"So there is two options left to you now.. you can either force your parents and take them along with you to US or you can find a job here and stay happily with them." Raghav told her.
"If you were in my situation, what would you have done Raghav?" Nithya asked him.
"I would have happily stayed back in India and live with my parents." He replied.
"Hmmm.."
"One more thing Nithya, you are a girl, and within few years you parents would want you to get married.. after marriage, even if you want to live with your parents, it would be even more difficult. Don't think that I'm scaring you, I'm just telling you the practical aspect of this." Raghav told Nithya, who was thinking deeply.
"You are right Raghav.. I'll think about it."
"Good! It's already late, shall we make a move?"
"Yeah... "
They both stood up and left to their homes. Nithya sat and thought about what Raghav spoke to her.
To be continued.
