"And one day, your name didn't make me smile anymore."
**✿❀ ❀✿**
"Yes, the room should be decorated with a red and golden theme. Make sure to use roses. Thank you."
Jungkook giggled to himself after he hung up the phone. Excitement was shining in his eyes as he prepared for the anniversary, which was just five days away.
"I know you'll love it," he said, smiling brightly at his own words. He was planning to introduce her to his parents the day after the anniversary. He wanted to make the bond stronger because the introduction to each other's parents played a significant role in a couple's life. Introducing your partner to your parents was definitely a big step, as it not only meant approval from them but also that you were ready to spend your whole life with your partner.
He smiled while picking up his diary and stuffing it into his bag. He hung the bag around his shoulder as he made his way out of the class, which was already empty since he was so immersed in planning the special day.
He quickly walked towards the exit, thinking that Hana might be waiting for him. The hallways were already empty, making him curse at himself for being so late.
He walked outside the building, but his smile faded away after seeing the scene unfolding in front of him. Suho was talking to Hana, and it looked like he was trying to convince her to believe something while she denied it.
Suho patted her shoulder, giving her a sad expression, while she looked down at her feet. His eyes fell on the figure standing a few metres away, and he smirked at him. Jungkook shuddered in fear as the thought of the bet crossed his mind.
'No... It can't happen.'
He made his way towards her after Suho left her alone. He tapped on her shoulder, making her look at him. His heart cracked in pain when he saw her bloodshot red eyes.
"What happened, Hana?" he asked her, the fear of losing her evident in his voice.
She looked at him with a stiff expression, which scared Jungkook even more. "Jungkook, be honest with me," she said, her eyes brimming with tears. "Did you make a bet on me?"
He retracted his hand from her shoulder as he looked at her with fear, his heart pumping fast, as he felt his palm getting sweaty.
"Hana, let me explain-"
"You made a bet on me or not?"
His lips trembled, and tears filled his eyes. He gulped hard as he heard her say, "I know you didn't... just... just say no."
He stared into her eyes which held pain and fear, along with a little hope that he would say no. He bit his lips and took a deep breath before saying, "I d-did... but let me explain, Hana-"
He felt a stinging pain on his left cheek, his face turning to the right due to the sudden impact. He trailed his fingers along his cheek as tears rolled down his cheeks.
She slapped him.
She.
Slapped.
Him.
Before he could speak another word, Hana pointed her finger at him; her eyes held anger and hate- Hate for him. Those eyes which once held love for him, now showed hate.
"Don't you dare come close to me. You played with my feelings. I thought you loved me, but you just proved me wrong. All those sweet words, confessions, hugs, kisses and everything... all of it was a lie?"
Tears flowed endlessly from her eyes as she sobbed hardly while talking to him. Rage took over her when she realised that everything was a lie. She pulled him by his collar.
"I can't believe I gave you my virginity. I'm feeling so disgusted because of you. I lost everything, and you won the bet. Are you happy now? You are making me regret everything, you bastard," she said harshly, leaving his collar by pushing him away.
"How dare you touch me if you never loved me? Why did you do that? I'm feeling so disgusted." she said while holding her head. He tried to speak, but the words were not coming out of his mouth. His heart pained when he heard that she was regretting every moment spent with him. He felt pain after seeing her cry.
He tried to go close to her. "Hana, it's not what you think-"
She pushed his hands away as he tried to console her. "I said don't touch me."
"Stay away from me and don't show me your face ever again," she said while gritting her teeth and walking away from him. He felt his knees weaken and dropped to the floor. He cried out loudly, knowing she would find out about the bet one day.
"Please, love... I truly love you... at least let me explain-" he choked on his own words.
"Don't... l-leave me..."

It had already been three days since the 'confession of the bet' happened. Hana didn't go to university or her part-time job during those three days to take control of her own emotions. Jungkook tried to chase Hana to convince her to at least let him explain his side. However, she was so hurt that she didn't pay any attention to his words.
That day, Hana went out to get some groceries. She was returning to her apartment, one hand held the groceries bag while the other held the umbrella. The rain had started just five minutes ago, and she was glad that she brought her umbrella with her.
She halted her steps when she found Jungkook standing at a flower shop, looking at the sky. He was waiting for the rain to stop so that he could go to his destination. She felt tears stinging her eyes. She decided to ignore him and attempted to hide her face with the help of the umbrella as she walked past him.
She sighed in relief when she walked a few steps away, but mentally slapped herself when she heard him say her name, "Hana?"
She didn't look back, even when she could feel his eyes on her. She picked up her pace, trying to walk away, but the footsteps followed her.
"Hana, I know it's you. Please stop," he said with a trembling voice, but his heart shattered when she didn't even bother to look back at him. He was tired— tired of trying to convince her to listen to him, tired of not being able to hold her in his arms for the last three days.
He ran toward her and blocked her way. She looked at him with a hateful gaze that was killing him inside. It felt like her eyes were stabbing a knife in his heart, again and again. He was already drenched in the rain. He took a few steps toward her, but Hana stepped back from him.
She was hurt.
And.
He was hurt because he knew she was hurt because of him.
He was the reason for her tears.
He was the reason for her pain.
"Hana, p-please, just five minutes," he muttered, looking at her. She looked at him, confused about whether he was actually crying or if it was just the rain. Her broken heart said that he was crying, but her cruel mind said that this was just an act.
She sighed and looked away while saying, "Only five minutes. Speak."
He looked at her and sighed before speaking about everything he wanted to say for the last three days: "Hana, believe me, I love you. I truly love you and I'll always love you."
She didn't respond and kept her gaze fixed on the ground. She suddenly found the ground more comfortable to look at instead of his eyes. She despised his eyes. Those eyes, which she had always loved to look at, were now making her feel betrayed.
"I know I made a bet on you. I will not deny that fact. But believe me, when I proposed to you, when I said I loved you, when I hugged you, when I kissed you, when I made love to you, my feelings were true. I truly love you. I completely forgot about that bet. Our relationship was not fake. Our moments were never fake."
He dropped on his knees while tears streamed down his face. "Our love was never fake. My love for you was never fake," he broke down in front of her.
"Please forgive me, Hana. I can't bear your ignorance. Please, don't avoid me. I know I hurt you; you can beat me as much as you want, but please, don't ignore me," he begged in front of her. Her heart pained at his state.
He pointed his trembling finger at his chest, specifically at his heart. "It hurts, Hana. When you ignore me, it hurts. When you cry, it hurts. When I realize that you are in pain because of me, it hurts."
She cried along with him. Her heart was again struggling to open the doors for him, but she resisted. She couldn't seem to trust him. He loved her all the time; their love wasn't fake, but she couldn't ignore the fact that he once treated her as a thing. He had once made a bet on her to hurt her.
"I'm sorry, Hana."
Her heart was telling her to go embrace him, but she walked past him. He wailed when she walked by without any mercy. His heart was breaking now. He couldn't handle it anymore. He cried out loudly, but no one could hear his feelings through his cries.
She reached the building, while Jungkook couldn't help but trail behind her, seeking her forgiveness. She quickly went inside the elevator and pressed the close button, hoping that Jungkook would not enter. She looked at him; his eyes were hollow, still holding some hope, but he didn't enter the elevator. Instead, she saw him walking toward the stairs before the door of the elevator finally closed.
She sighed at herself, knowing that he would not go away that easily. He had given her enough space for the last three days, but now he couldn't think of anything else. He needed her forgiveness. He wanted to make everything right before their first anniversary, which was just the day after the next day.
The elevator opened and she walked out quickly, hoping to enter the apartment before he could. She knew that if he entered the apartment, things would be difficult. How much she hated the fact, but she knew what would happen if he came inside. He would use his own ways to seek forgiveness, and she would end up forgiving him. She didn't want that.
She heard footsteps behind her as she twisted the door knob. He was standing behind her. She opened the door, stepped inside, turned around, glanced at him, and closed the door in his face. She pressed her back against the closed door, confused by the fact that he didn't protest to listen to her this time. He was just staring at her with blank eyes, showing his tiredness. She thought that maybe now he hated her. Now, he would fall out of love.
Somehow, she wanted the same to happen. She wanted him to hate her. She wanted to move on, but her heart said something else.
'He loves you.'
