Liz wish she could say that she and Dakota were on their way to Cousins. She wish she were packing her suitcases and face timing River full of excitement. She wish she was pulling into the driveway of the Beck summer house. Stomach full of butterflies as Conrad held her in his arms.

But she wasn't. She wasn't on her way to Cousins. Susannah wasn't alive and she wasn't with Conrad anymore. She didn't think she'd ever be the same.

Dakota on the other hand, while he was very upset about Susannah, hadn't shown much grief or sadness when the subject came up. Her funeral was the only time Liz saw Dakota even remotely upset about Susannah's death and she couldn't figure out how he was doing so well. What she didn't know, is that a certain girl had a lot to do with it.

"You guys seriously aren't coming to Cousins?"

Dakota shook his head, "No. We haven't even said Cousins since Susannah's funeral."

"Well, wouldn't it be what she would want? For you guys to continue on with the tradition?" River tries

"I don't know. I don't even wanna talk about it." Dakota mutters

River sighed as she watched Dakota. Even through the phone she could tell he wasn't as okay as he made himself out to be. However, she couldn't really help considering he never wanted to actually talk about it and just brushed her off.

"Okay, well, how's Liz?"

Dakota scoffed, "She's been locked up in her room ever since the funeral. Barely comes out and when she does she definitely doesn't say anything."

River nodded as she looked around her room. Dakota squinted as he watched her, "She hasn't talked to you?"

"No. The only reason I know she's alive is when she likes my stuff on Instagram."

Dakota raised his brows with a smile, "Well, don't feel too bad. At least you're still talking to one twin right?"

"Yeah." She chuckles. Dakota's smile widens.

"Liz, honey, make sure you have everything packed, we have to leave early tomorrow."

Liz sits up as she hears her mom walk away. She sighs as she stares at the ceiling. As much as she loved Steven and Belly, she did not want to have to act happy at his graduation. She hated pretending that she was okay.

Because she wasn't. She wasn't okay and she was angry at the fact that everyone else seemed to be. It wasn't even about her and Conrad, it was about Susannah. She made such an impact on everyone's lives and she was gone. Gone and never coming back and everyone was smiling and happy and ready to move on.

The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. So, she got up and moved around her room as she started to pack. As she looked around at the desk, her eyes landed on a photo of her and Conrad. It was a polaroid she took the day after the debutante. As she stared at the picture, she remembered how excited she was after Conrad finally confessed his feelings for her.

Liz giggled as she and Conrad walked down the beach towards the house. He smiled as he watched her turn away when she blushed.

"This almost doesn't feel real."

Conrad lets go of her hand and pulls her in by her waist, "How 'bout now?" He says before he kisses her. She laughs as they pull away.

"I can't stop smiling." She says

"You know, you have the prettiest smile I've ever seen. Your whole face just lights up." He says to her as he gestures to his face, "I wanted to say that to you all summer." Liz laughs as Conrad's face scrunches up in confusion, but the smile is still present on his face, "What, is that funny?"

"No, I'm sorry, it's just weird. I mean, everyone in our house knows that I've had a crush on you ever since, like-"

Conrad cuts her off as they stop again, "Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. You have a crush on me?"

Liz rolls her eyes as Conrad fakes his shock, "Shut up."

Conrad steps closer, "You're it for me, Liz."

Liz's eyes soften as Conrad looks at her. She looks down as Conrad takes her hand, "We should get back." Conrad nods before he follows behind Liz, still holding onto her hand.

It's only a few more minutes before they make it home. They try to be as quiet as possible walking in, but ultimately fail as they laugh together. The two walk into the kitchen hand in hand and look up to see Susannah sitting on the couch.

Susannah smiles as they walk closer, "Early morning walk on the beach?" She says with raised brows and a teasing smile

"Uh, yeah." Liz says as Conrad chuckles

"Mm-hmm." Liz laughs as Susannah shakes her head, "I knew it. I knew it."

"I'm gonna go..." Liz says as she tilts her head towards the stairs. Conrad nods as Liz smiles, "Yeah."

"Yeah. Okay." Conrad says as Liz starts to walk away. He holds her hand until the very last second, flexing it when she finally let go.

Liz sat in the back of the car silent as she, Dakota, and Megan drove to the Conklin house for Steven's graduation.

"Are you guys excited?" Megan tries

"Ecstatic." Dakota mumbles sarcastically as he leans his head on the window. Megan looks through the rear view mirror at Liz.

"Liz, honey?"

Liz turns as Megan raises her eyebrows, "Uh, yeah. I'm excited."

Dakota chuckles humorlessly, "Yeah, you sound so excited."

"Dakota." Megan scolds

"It's way too early for this, Mom."

"Well, I'm sorry, but we're not missing Steven's graduation."

"Conrad and Jeremiah aren't even gonna be there." Dakota mutters

Megan sighs as Liz puts her head down, "They were busy, honey."

"Yeah, sure." Dakota scoffs as he adjusts himself in his seat and pulls his hood down to cover his eyes.

Liz tilts her head back on the seat as she looks out of the window.

Conrad and Liz sat in front of each other on the beach. The wind blowing around them as the waves crashed against the sand.

"You know, I was," She hesitates, "I was actually thinking about it." She says as she looks up. Conrad holds her hand as he waits for her to finish, "Maybe, we should put this on pause." Conrad sits up, "Or at least take it really slow."

"What? No."

"I don't want to make this harder for you."

"You're not. I promise." He tries

"The last thing you need to worry about right now is a relationship. You should be worried about your mom and Jeremiah."

"Liz, come on." He tries

"Seeing Susannah sitting there made me realize that you should be putting all of your time and energy into spending time with her and making sure she's okay. I'm still gonna be here, but you don't know what's gonna happen with her."

Conrad deflates as he looks down, "I hate this."

"Yeah, me too."

"Um..." He starts. Liz watches as he pulls out a small bag. He then takes the bracelet out, "this was always yours. No matter what happens, it'll always be you and me."

Liz looks up at him as he takes her hand. He gently places the bracelet on her wrist. She immediately traces the butterfly charm with her finger. A small smile taking over her features as she looks up at Conrad who already has his eyes on her.
