Palo Alto, California

Birds are chirping, Sam is wearing a suit and tie and carrying a bouquet of various flowers excluding roses, walks through an otherwise deserted cemetery. Sam sighs and stops next to a gravestone. It reads 'JESSICA LEE MOORE', 'Beloved Daughter', 'January 24th, 1984 - November 2nd, 2005'. There is a small picture of a name, a black-and-white picture of her leaning against the stone between a white teddy bear and a wooden box with a crucifix leaning on the picture, a small American flag next to the box, and three candles standing on the gravestone; one is of the Virgin de Guadalupe.

Sam looks between the gravestone and the flowers. "I uh..." Sam says as he then laughs. "You always said roses were, were lame, so I brought you, uh..." Sam says as he looks at the picture set into the gravestone. Then looks away choking back tears. He steps closer to the gravestone. "Jess...Oh God..."

Sam kneels to set down the flowers. "I should have protected you. I should have told you the truth." Sam says as he leans the flowers in front of the crucifix. An arm covered in dirt shoots out of the ground and grabs Sam by the wrist.

Sam jerks awake, he is riding shotgun next to Dean as Ana is humming Eye of the Tiger under her breath, as Dean is mouthing the words, as the song is stuck in both of their heads. In their defense it was playing not too long ago on the cassette tape.

Sam blinks and rubs his eyes, Dean looks over concerned for his brother, already knowing what it is. "You, okay?" Dean asks concerned for his brother.

"Yeah, I'm fine." Sam says as Dean nods his head not really believing the lie.

"Another nightmare?" Ana asks as she takes a drink from her Dr. Pepper of course. Courtesy of Dean of course, because he is a good boyfriend who gifts his girlfriend her favorite soda.

Sam clears his throat not really wanting to talk about it. "You want to go for a drive for a while?" Dean asks his brother as Sam laughs.

"Dean, your whole life you never once asked me that." Sam says to his brother.

"Just thought you might want to. Never mind." Dean says.

"Look man, you're worried about me. I get it, and thank you, but I'm perfectly okay." Sam says as Ana plays with her rings on her fingers, as she looks between both the brothers, silently watching them like it is a TV show. Sam grabs a map. "Alright, where are we?" Sam asks.

"We are just outside of Grand Junction, Colorado." Ana says as Sam folds down the map, which is of Colorado and has a large X labeled 35-111.

"You know what?" Sam asks. "Maybe we shouldn't have left Stanford so soon."

"Sam, we dug around there for a week. We came up with nothing. If you want to find the thing that killed Jessica--" Dean says as he gets interrupted by Sam.

"We got to find John first." Ana says as Dean agrees with her, like he always does.

"Dad disappearing and this thing showing up after twenty years, it's no coincidence." Dean says. "Dad will have answers. He'll know what to do."

"It's weird, man. These coordinates he left us. This Blackwater Ridge." Sam says as he looks at the map.

"What about it?" Dean and Ana ask in unison, as they both have small smiles on the corner of their lips. They are nearly always talking in unison. They did a slight fist-bump.

"There's nothing there. It's just woods." Sam says as he puts down the map. "Why is he sending us to the middle of nowhere?"

They drive past the National Forest sign that says, 'Welcome to LOST CREEK Colorado, National Forest'.

The Impala is parked next to a sign that says, 'RANGER STATION Lost Creek Trail, Lost Creek National Forest'.

"So, I'm going to assume that Blackwater Ridge is pretty remote." Ana says as she looks around as she sees nothing but trees everywhere.

Dean laughed a little at what Ana says amused by her joke, even if it was slightly sarcastic, as Sam just shook his head at her. "Really? What gave it away?"

"Okay, smartass, it was the trees. Sheesh." Ana says with a slight eye roll, which made Sam sigh a little at her. "See Dean finds it funny." Ana says pointing to Dean of proof which only made Dean laugh.

Sam looks at a 3D map of the national forest, paying particular attention to the ridge labeled, 'BLACKWATER RIDGE'. Dean and Ana are looking at the decorations.

"It's cut off by these canyons here, rough terrain, dense forest, abandoned silver and gold mines all over the place." Sam says.

"Dude, check out the size of this freaking bear." Dean says as Sam looks over at his brother. Dean is looking at a framed photo of a man standing behind a much larger bear. Sam comes to stand next to both Ana and Dean.

"And a dozen or more grizzlies in the area. It's no nature hike, that's for sure." Ana says as Sam nods his head at her.

Behind them is a forest ranger, who walks up behind them, when he speaks Ana, Dean and Sam whip around startled.

"You three aren't planning on going out near Blackwater Ridge by any chance?" The ranger says.

"Oh, no, sir, we're environmental study majors from UC Boulder, just working on a paper." Ana says to the man as she was the first person to say something.

Dean grins and raises a fist. "Recycle man." Dean says, as the ranger wasn't buying it.

"Bull." He mutters as Ana eyes flick to Dean who doesn't move. "You're friends with that Haley girl, right?" The ranger asks the three.

"Yes. Yes, sir we are Ranger Wilkinson." Dean says.

"Well, I will tell you exactly what we told her. Her brother filed out a back country, permit saying he wouldn't be back from Blackwater until the twenty-fourth, so it's not exactly a missing person, now, is it?" The ranger says as Dean shakes his head. "Well, you tell that girl to quit worrying. I'm sure her brother's just fine."

"We will. Well, that Haley girl's quite a pistol, huh?" Dean asks as Ana just gave him a raised eyebrow look which made him to clear his throat.

"That is putting it mildly." The ranger says.

"Actually, you know what will help us is if we show her a copy of that back country permit. You know, so that she could see her brother's return date." Ana says as the ranger eyes Ana and she gives him a small smile.

The three of them then leave the ranger station, Ana is holding the paper of the permit. "Let's just go find Dad. I mean, why even talk to this girl?" Sam says which breaks Ana out of her thoughts as she is looking at the permit.

The three of them stop on their sides of the Impala. Sam by the passenger side and Dean and Ana on the other side. "I don't know. Maybe we should know what we're walking into before we actually walk into it?" Dean asks as Ana nods her head agreeing with Dean.

There was a pause between the three of them. "What?" Sam asks.

"Since when are you, all shoot first ask questions later, anyway?" Dean asks.

"Since now." Sam says as he turns away, then the sound of the car door opening is heard.

"Really?" Dean and Ana ask as Dean kisses her cheek before the couple gets into the Impala.

───※ ·❆· ※───

The three of them are standing at the door of the Collins' house. The door then opens to reveal Haley Collins.

"You must be Haley Collins. I'm Ana, this is Dean and Sam. We're rangers with the Park Service. Ranger Wilkinson sent us over here. He wanted us to ask a few questions about your brother Tommy." Ana says as she didn't give Dean a chance of saying anything, which he didn't mind.

"Lemme see some ID." Haley says as Dean and Ana whip out their fake ID's. Dean's fake ID says 'Samuel Cole' while Ana's says, 'Scarlett Jones'. They both hold it up against the screen. Haley looks at the ID's, then back at the couple. Then she opens the door.

"Come on in." Haley says.

"Thanks." Ana says as the door then swings open and Haley catches sight of the Impala.

"That yours?" She asks.

"Yeah." Dean says as Sam is looking back at the Impala.

"Nice car." Haley says, as she leads the three of them into the kitchen where Ben is sitting at the table on a laptop.

"So, if Tommy's not due back for a while, how do you know something's wrong?" Ana asks as Haley comes back into the kitchen with a bowl that she places on the table.

"He checks in every day by cell. He emails, photos, stupid little videos--we haven't heard anything in over three days now." Haley says as Ana nods her head.

"Well, maybe he can't get reception." Ana says as Haley shook her head no at the red head.

"He's got a satellite phone, too." Haley says.

"Could it be he's just having fun and forgot to check in?" Dean asks.

"He wouldn't do that." Ben says as Ana looks at Ben. Haley puts more food on the table.

"Our parents are gone. It's just my two brothers and me. We all keep pretty close tabs on each other." Haley says.

"Can I see the pictures he sent you?" Sam asked.

"Yeah." Haley says as she goes on Ben's computer and pulls up the pictures. "That's Tommy." Haley clicks twice and another picture comes up, then the still frame opening the latest video.

"Hey Haley. Day six, we're still out near Blackwater Ridge. We're fine, keeping safe, so don't worry, okay? Talk to you tomorrow."

Ana and Sam spots at the shadow flicking past. "Well, we'll find your brother. We're heading out to Blackwater Ridge first thing." Ana says.

"Then maybe I'll see you three there. Look, I can't sit around here anymore. So, I hired a guy. I'm heading out in the morning, and I'm going to find Tommy myself." Haley says, as Dean nods his head.

"I think I know how you feel." Dean says as Ana glanced at her boyfriend when he said that.

"Hey, do you mind forwarding these to me?" Sam asks as Haley nods her head.

later that night

Sam, Dean and Ana are all sitting at a bar table. "So, Blackwater Ridge doesn't get a lot of traffic. Local campers, mostly. But still, this past April, two hikers went missing out there. They were never found." Sam says as he pulls out John's journal.

"Any before that?" Dean asks as he is drinking a beer and Ana a simple glass of whiskey.

Sam pulls out newspaper articles to show Dean and Ana. "Yeah, in 1982, eight different people all vanished in the same year. Authorities said it was a grizzly attack." Sam says.

Dean and Ana reads the headline in The Lost Creek Gazette:
GRIZZLY BEAR ATTACKS!
'UP TO EIGHT HIKERS VANISH IN LOST CREEK AREA HIKERS DISAPPEARANCE BAFFLE AUTHORITIES'

Sam pulls out his laptop. "And again in 1959, and again before that in 1936." Sam says as he opens the laptop which already has a window tab on Tommy's video. "Every twenty-three years, just like clockwork. Okay. Watch this. Here's a clincher. I downloaded that guy Tommy's video on the laptop. Check this out." Sam says as he pulls up a video and goes through three frames of the video at a time.

A shadow crosses the screen, as Ana nearly spits out her whiskey that she is drinking. "Do it again." Dean says to Sam as he repeats the frames.

"That's three frames. That's a fraction of a second. Whatever that thing is, it can move." Sam says as Dean hits Sam's arm, and he looks up.

"Told you something weird was going on." Dean says.

"Yeah." Sam says as he closes the laptop. "I got one more thing." He says as he hands over another newspaper article. "In 'fifty-nine one camper survived this supposed grizzly attack. Just a kid, barely crawled out of the woods alive." Sam says as Dean looks at the article as Ana takes a drink of her whiskey.

"Is there a name?" Ana asks as she puts the whiskey glass down on the table.

───※ ·❆· ※───

An old man named Mr. Shaw talks to Sam, Dean and Ana while leading them inside his house. Shaw has a cigarette in his mouth.

"Look, rangers, I don't know why you're asking me about this. It's public record. I was a kid. My parents got mauled by a--" Shaw says as Sam interrupts him.

"Grizzly? That's what attacked them?" Sam asks as Shaw takes a puff of his cigarette, takes it out and nods his head.

"The other people that went missing that year, those bear attacks too?" Dean asks, as Ana is in the middle of the brothers.

There was a pause. "What about all the people that went missing this year? Same thing?" Dean asks, as there was another pause.

"We know what we were dealing with, we might be able to stop it." Ana says, as Dean nods his head at what Ana says.

"I seriously doubt that. Anyways, I don't see what difference it would make." Shaw says as he sits down. "You wouldn't believe me. Nobody ever did." Sam sits down across from Shaw as Ana and Dean sit next to each other.

"Mr. Shaw, what did you see?" Ana asks as there was once again another pause.

"Nothing. It moved too fast to see. It hid too well. I heard it, though. A roar. Like...no man or animal I ever heard." He says as Ana raises her eyebrows at hearing that.

"It came at night?" Sam asks as Shaw nods his head. "Got inside your tent?"

"It got inside our cabin. I was sleeping in front of the fireplace when it came in. It didn't smash a window or break the door. It unlocked it. Do you know of a bear that could do something like that? I didn't even wake up till I heard my parents screaming." Shaw says.

"It killed them?" Ana asked, as Dean has an arm snaked around her keeping her close.

"Dragged them off into the night." Shaw says as he shakes his head. "Why did it leave me alive...been asking myself that ever since." Shaw says, as his hands go to his collar of his shirt. "Did leave me this, though."

He opens his collar to reveal three long scars. Claw marks. Sam, Dean and Ana look at the marks. "There's something evil in those woods. It was some sort of demon."

───※ ·❆· ※───

Dean, Sam and Ana are walking the length of a corridor with rooms on either side. "Spirits and demons, don't have to unlock doors. If they want inside, they just go through the walls." Dean says as Ana nods her head.

"So, it's probably something else, something corporeal." Sam says as a tired Ana turns to Sam and gave him a look.

"Speak English, please." Ana mumbles as she wasn't happy because she got woken up from her nap. One of the few times where Dean had to wake her up from her nap, which he almost never does.

"Corporeal? Excuse me, professor." Dean says sarcastically as Sam gives his brother a look.

"Shut up. So, what do you think?" Sam asks.

"The claws, the speed that it moves...could be a skin walker, maybe a black dog. Whatever we're talking about, we're talking about a creature, and it's corporeal. Which means we can kill it." Dean says.

───※ ·❆· ※───

Dean opens the trunk of the Impala, then the weapons box, as Ana props it open with a shotgun. Dean and Ana puts some guns in the duffel bag.

"We cannot let that Haley girl go out there." Sam says.

"Oh yeah? What are we going to tell her? That she can't go into the woods because of a big scary monster?" Dean asks sarcastically as Ana sighs a little at the brothers.

"Yeah." Sam says as Dean looks at Sam.

"Her brother's missing, Sam. She's not going to just sit this out. Now we go with her, we protect her, and we keep our eyes peeled for our fuzzy predator friend." Dean says as he picks up the duffel bag.

"Finding Dad's not enough?" Sam asks as he slams the weapons box and then the trunk. "Now we gotta babysit too?" He asks as Dean stares at Sam. "What?" Sam asks.

"Nothing." Dean says as he throws the duffel bag at Sam and walks off with Ana, as Sam stares at him.

───※ ·❆· ※───

The Impala pulls up as Roy, Haley and Ben stare. Haley shakes her head. Sam, Dean and Ana get out of the car. Sam opens the back door of the Impala and pulls out the duffel bag.

"You guys got room for two more?" Dean asks, as Ana gives a small wave to Haley.

"Wait, you want to come with us?" Haley asks as Roy, looks at the three.

"Who are these guys and the girl?" Roy asks, as Ana rolled her eyes at what he said.

"Apparently, this is all what the park service could muster up the search and rescue." Haley says as Sam walks past everyone.

"You're rangers?" Roy asks.

"That's right." Dean and Ana say in unison.

"And you're hiking out in biker boots and jeans?" Haley asks, as Dean looks down to himself.

"Well, sweetheart I don't do shorts." Dean says to her, as he walks past Haley.

"What, you think this is funny? It is dangerous back country out there. Your brother might be hurt." Roy says as Ana had enough of the dude, and she walks away from him.

Sam turns back to Roy. "Believe me, I know how dangerous it can be. We just want to help them find their brother, that's all." Dean says as he heads past Sam.

───※ ·❆· ※───

The group hikes through the forest. Roy in the lead, then Dean, Haley, Ben, Ana and Sam bringing up the rear.

"Rou, you said you did a little hunting." Dean says to Roy.

"Yeah, more than a little." Roy says.

"Uh-huh. What kind of furry critters do you hunt?" Dean asks.

"Mostly buck, sometimes bear." Roy says as Dean passes him.

"Tell me, uh, Bambi or Yogi ever hunt you back?" Dean asks Roy as Roy grabs Dean.

"Whatcha doing, Roy?" Dean asks, as Roy grabs a stick and pokes the bear trap that Dean had almost stepped in.

"You should watch where you're stepping, Ranger." Roy says as he then drops the stick and retakes the lead.

"It's a-a bear trap." Dean says as they continue the hike.

"You didn't pack any provisions. You guys are carrying a duffel bag. You're not rangers." Haley says as she grabs Dean's arms, as Ana is right behind him. "So, who the hell are you three?"

Ben goes past Haley and Dean. Sam looks at Dean who indicates with his expression that Sam's to go on by. Dean watches him go for a moment.

"Sam and I are brothers, and we're looking for our father. He might be here, we don't know. I just figured that you and me, we're in the same boat." Dean says as Ana stops besides Dean.

"Why didn't you just tell me that from the start?" Haley asks.

"I'm telling you now, 'sides, it's probably the most honest I've ever been with a woman...ever...besides with Ana. So, we, okay?" Dean asks.

"Yeah, okay." Haley says.

"And what do you mean I didn't pack provisions?" Dean asks, as he pulls out a big bag of peanut M&M's and sticks his hand in the bag and hikes on with Ana following behind him.

───※ ·❆· ※───

Roy leads the way, followed by Sam, Ben, Haley, Dean and Ana. Dean and Ana are both eating the peanut M&M's. They are in their own conversation, not really caring about everyone else around them. They are enjoying the moment that they have together, just the two of them. "I love you, Annie." Dean whispers to Ana as he kisses her temple as she has her head onto his shoulder as they are walking and following the others.

"Love you too." Ana says to Dean, as he has a small smile on his face. He kisses her temple again seeing her smile makes his heart flutter. He would do anything just to see her smile.

"This is it. Blackwater Ridge." Roy says as Sam heads past Roy.

"What coordinates are we at?" Sam asks, as Ana pops in a piece of gum in her mouth.

"Thirty-five and minus one-eleven." Roy says as Dean and Ana comes up to Sam. The three of them listen.

"You hear that?" Dean asks.

"Yeah, not even crickets." Ana mutters.

"I'm going to take a look around." Roy says.

"You shouldn't go by yourself." Sam says to Roy but of course he doesn't listen.

"That's sweet. Don't worry about me." Roy says as he waves his gun and pushes between Dean, Sam and Ana to retake the lead. Dean turns back to the others as Ben and Haley catch up.

"Alright, everybody stays together. Let's go." Dean says.

───※ ·❆· ※───

Sam, Dean, Ana, Ben and Haley are looking around near a large rock. "Haley! Over here!" Roy yells as Haley runs towards Roy's voice followed closely by the others.

"Oh my God." Haley says as the tents are torn open and bloody, and all the supplies are scattered.

"Looks like a grizzly." Roy says as Ana once again rolled her eyes at him.

"Tommy?" Haley calls, taking her backpack and walking off. "Tommy!"

Sam puts the duffel bag down on the ground, as Ana's ears perked up at a sound in the distance, but she didn't question it as it was probably an animal.

"Something might still be out there." Sam says to Haley.

"Sam! Ana!" Dean calls, as Sam and Ana rush over towards Dean snapping on a stick and crouches down next to him. "The bodies were dragged from the campsite. But here, the tracks just vanish. That's weird." Dean says as the three of them stand up. "I'll tell you what. That's no skin walker or black dog."

Dean goes back to the campsite, as Sam and Ana follow him. Haley picks up Tommy's cell phone. It's bloody and shattered, she cries. She turns the phone over and the back is open. Dean crouches next to her. "Hey, he could still be alive."

"Help! Help!" Someone cries in the distance.

Roy runs off, Dean immediately rushes towards him along with everyone else. Ana was following everyone else, as they were heading towards the voice that was screaming for help. Then before Ana had seen anything coming, she gets grabbed and it wasn't by Dean as he was ahead of her with Roy.

"It seemed like it was coming from around here, didn't it?" Haley asks. They try to listen for more yells, but they don't hear anything. Dean felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up as he senses something is wrong. He turns around and makes his way back to the campsite. To make sure that nothing is wrong, then he stops in his tracks.

No sign of Ana.

Dean felt his heart in his stomach as his blood went cold at the empty sight of his girlfriend as the last place that he remembers seeing Ana was at the campsite. "Ana?" Dean calls out which got Sam's attention, and he runs towards his brother, he also doesn't see any sign of Ana. "Annie?" Dean calls out a little louder, but the sickening silence isn't reassuring that everything is okay.

"Ana!" Sam calls out which made Dean nearly jump at hearing his brother's voice behind him, but that was quickly replaced by anger slowly filling his body. He got so angry that he punched the nearest tree a couple of times as hard as he could, some pieces of tree bark fell onto the ground. Yes, the pain did hurt as he retracts his hand, hissing at the now bloody knuckles where his knuckles had made contact with the tree.

"Dean." Sam says as he forcibly turned his brother around as he grabbed his brother's now bloody knuckles.

Dean still had the anger flowing in his body, as he was still very much angry, but now he was feeling regret and worry which is starting to tear at his gut. "I'm fine, Samuel." Dean says as he snapped at his brother. Sam had to do a double take at his brother. Never in Sam's life has Dean called him, 'Samuel', it was always either Sam or Sammy. Never Samuel. Dean wiped his bloody knuckle on his jeans which made him wince again. He tried to hold back the tears that was welling up in his eyes.

"So, much for my GPS and my satellite phone." Roy says which made Dean ball up his fist as he was debating of punching the tree again.

"Yeah, what a big loss." Dean retorts as Roy turns towards the eldest Winchester.

"Hey, you're the stupid idiot who brought your girlfriend or whatever she is, here in the first place." Roy says as Dean nearly lunged at Roy, but Sam had to hold his brother which was a struggle itself.

"What the hell is going on?" Haley asked.

"The thing is smart. It wants to cut us off so we can't call for help." Sam says as he knows that Dean would make a snappy remark to Roy and possibly make the matter worse.

"You mean someone, some nutjob out there just stole all of our gear and the brat." Roy says as Dean almost lunged at Roy for calling Ana a brat.

Yes, she may act like a brat sometimes, but only he can call Ana a brat.

Sam grabbed onto his brother; Dean was giving Roy the meanest glare that Sam has ever seen in his life. He has seen Dean mad and angry more times than he wants to admit, but seeing Dean like this, not taking Roy's snarky comments about Ana. It lowkey scares Sam if he is being honest.

"I need to speak to you...in private." Sam quietly whispers in Dean's ear which momentarily snaps the older Winchester back in focus.

The two brothers walk off away from Roy which is a good thing. Because the more that Dean was even remotely near Roy, the more that he wanted to tear the man apart. Yes, he was a smart ass, but when Ana disappeared, he just wants to snap Roy in half. But he also knows that violence right now isn't going to be helping no one. Even if Roy deserves a good punch from Dean.

"Let me see Dad's journal." Sam says as Dean put his hand into his jacket where he has a pocket where he has stored the journal. Dean hands Sam the journal as Sam immediately flips through the pages before coming to the page where he wants. "Alright. Check that out."

"Oh, come on. Wendigo's are in the Minnesota woods or-or northern Michigan. I have never even heard of one this far west." Dean says to his brother.

"Think about it, Dean, the claws, the way it can mimic a human voice." Sam says.

"Great." Dean mumbles. "Well, then this is useful." Dean says holding up his pistol, as Sam gives him the journal back.

"We gotta get these people to safety." Sam says as Dean nods his head not having the energy to make a remark and or a single peep. No matter how bad he wants to, he just doesn't have the energy to do so. He just wants his girlfriend, back. Because God forbid if something happens to his girlfriend, all hell will break loose.

"Dean, I know you want to find Ana, trust me do so I. But we need to focus taking care of these clueless people who have zero clue what they are walking into." Sam tells his brother who barely looks him back in the eye. Sam doesn't take it to heart of his brother right now. He knows how much Ana means to Dean, and how he will do anything for the woman who he loves so much.

The two brothers walk back to the campsite, where the others are. "Alright, listen up. Things have gotten...more complicated and rockier." Sam says.

"What?" Haley asks.

"Kid, don't worry. Whatever's out there. I think I can handle it." Roy says as Dean raised an eyebrow without saying anything.

"It's not me I'm worried about. If you shoot this thing, you're just going to make it madder. You three have to leave. Now." Sam says, trying to reason with Roy, but of course it isn't working.

"One, you're talking nonsense. Two, you're in no position to give anybody orders. Three, your brother's girlfriend or whatever just got taken, and you want to leave." Roy asked as Dean just glared at the man.

"Relax." Dean mutters under his breath. He didn't know if he was saying that to Roy, and or reassuring himself to relax.

"I said you leave. Not me. We never should have let you come out here in the first place, alright? I'm trying to protect you." Sam says.

"You protect me? I was hunting these woods when your mommy was still kissing you goodnight." Roy says as Dean swallowed the lump that was in his throat. He was really trying to keep his composure, but he was struggling to do that.

"Yeah? It's a damn near perfect hunter. It's smarter than you, and it's going to hunt you down, and eat you alive unless we get your stupid sorry ass out of here." Sam says as he was slowly losing his patience right now.

Roy laughs as apparently; he thinks that this entire thing is funny. "You know, you're crazy right."

That is when Dean had lost his cool. He didn't lunge at Roy this time, but he took some big steps towards the snarky man. "Yeah? You ever hunt a wen--" Dean says as Sam pulled his brother back once again.

"Chill, dude." Sam says as he pulls Dean from Roy.

"Boys! Stop. Stop it. Everybody just stops." Haley says which gained the three guys' attention. "Look, Tommy might still be alive, along with Dean's girlfriend. I'm not leaving here without my brother."

"It's getting late." Dean says as he took in the view around him. "This thing is a good hunter in the day, but an unbelievable hunter at night. We'll never beat it, not in the dark. We need to settle and protect ourselves."

"How?" Haley asks.

───※ ·❆· ※───

It is nighttime now and they have built a campfire. Everybody but Dean is in a circle that Sam has made. Dean is sitting a bit away on a log and trying to keep his composure as he plays with one of Ana's bracelets that she had made a while ago and gave to him. It was a charm bracelet, which is yet another one of her hobbies that she has.

He has been talking to the bracelet like it is a real person, but he doesn't care. He just wants to find his girlfriend, alive and in once piece. Because if God forbid and something is even more wrong with Ana, Dean will probably not know what to do without Ana. People might think that Ana is just a girl that Dean is with. But she is more than that.

She is his rock and his anchor, his reason to keep moving. Yes, she might be a pain in his ass, and slightly a child who throws temper tantrums when being told the word no. He wouldn't trade her for anything, or anybody. There are two things that make Dean happy. Baby, and Ana. He calls them his two girls. Even if Baby is a car, not an actual girl. Dean doesn't care. They are his girls, and he is overly protective of his girls.

He wishes that he saw what happened to Ana. Hell, he wishes that he grabbed her when him and the others went looking. He feels so stupid for what happened to his girlfriend, and how she got kidnapped by the Wendigo. He can't and will not lose his babygirl, aka his passenger princess.

Dean is ripped out of his thoughts when Sam sits next to him. "You want to talk?" Sam asks. "Don't say you're fine either. Because that is bullshit, and you know it."

"Dad's not here? He would have left us a message right, or a fucking sign. But nooo, he left us fucking nothing." Dean says raising his voice, but not loud enough to get the other's attention.

"Tell you the truth, I don't think Dad has even been near Lost Creek." Sam says trying to lighten the mood, but it doesn't work.

"Then why did he drag us here in the fucking place?" Dean asks as Sam knows why his brother is like this. On top of their father not being here, and Roy being a pain in his brother's ass, but for Ana.

"This is why." Sam says as he pulls out John's journal. "This book. This is Dad's single most valuable possession. Everything he knows about every evil thing is in here. And he's passed it on to us. I think he wants us to pick up where he left off. You know, saving people, hunting things. The family business." Sam says to his brother.

"That makes no sense. Why doesn't he just--call us? Why doesn't he--tell us what he wants, tell us where he is?" Dean couldn't help but ask. Yes, he was raised to follow his father's orders, and all that stuff. But he was still questioning his father.

"Beats me. But the way, I see it. Dad's giving us a job to do, and I intend of doing it. Along with getting Ana back." Sam says. "We'll find Ana, I promise. Listen to me. You've got to prepare yourself. I mean, this search could take a while, and with your anger, you can't keep it burning you alive in the long haul. It's going to kill you. You need to have patience. Ana is not going to lose her boyfriend too." Sam says as he looks at his brother's hands as he is still holding the bracelet that Ana had given him a while back.

"How does Dad do this? How does he do these hunts? Let alone fucking by himself." Dean says to his brother.

"I mean, I figure since our family is so fucking screwed to hell, maybe we can help some others. Make things a little more bearable. I'll tell you what else helps. Killing as much of these pyscho bitches as we possibly can." Sam says, as Dean couldn't help but nod his head at his brother. "That also includes the son of a bitch that has Ana. We will kill this thing and get Ana back. Alive."

"Hey." Sam greets Haley and Ben. "So, we've got half a chance in the daylight. And I for one want to kill this evil bastard." Sam says.

"Well, hell, you know I'm in." Dean says.

Sam shows them John's journal which has the Wendigo. "Wendigo, is a Cree Indian word. It means, 'evil that devours'." Sam informs.

"Which isn't wrong, given the fact what this thing is." Dean says, as Sam nods his head at his brother. "They're hundreds of years old. Each one was once a man. Sometimes an Indian, or other times a frontiersman or a miner or hunter." Dean says

"How a man turns into one of those things?" Haley asks.

"Well, it's always the same way. During some harsh winter a guy finds himself starving, cut off from supplies or help. Becomes a cannibal to survive, eating other members of his tribe or camp." Dean says.

"Like the Donner Party." Ben says.

"Cultures all over the world believe that eating human flesh gives a person certain ability, speed, strength, and immortality." Sam says.

"If you eat enough of it, over the years, you become this less than human thing. You're always hungry." Dean says.

"So, if that's true, how can Tommy still be alive?" Haley asks. "Or..." She trails off when she makes eye contact with Dean who sadly looks down.

"You're not going to like it." Sam says glancing at Dean with cautious eyes, seeing his older brother trying to keep himself together yet again.

"Tell me." Haley orders, looking at Sam, not wanting to have Dean explain given the fact that his girlfriend is in the same position as Tommy.

"More than anything, a wendigo knows how to last long winters without food. It hibernates for years at a time, but when it's awake it keeps its victims alive. It, uh, it stores them, so it can feed whenever it wants. If your brother's alive, it's keeping him somewhere dark, hidden, and safe. We got to track it back there." Sam says.

"And then how do we stop it?" Haley asks.

"Well, guns are useless, so are knives. Basically--" Sam says as he holds up a can of lighter fluid, a beer bottle, and a white cloth he picked up. "We have to torch this bitch."

They eventually found Roy's dead body after it almost fell on Haley as it fell from a tree. They heard growling which made them take off. Sam and Ben got separated from Haley and Dean since Ben had fell and Sam had helped him get back to his feet. They heard Haley scream, and they run to where the sound came from.

"Haley!" Ben yells, as Sam picks up Dean's broken Molotov cocktail.

"Dean!" Sam shouts.

"If it keeps them alive, why would it kill Roy?" Ben asked as he and Sam, walk through the woods.

"Honestly? I think because Roy shot at it, it got pissed off." Sam says.

"They went this way." Ben says as he holds up an M&M that Dean had dropped. Sam walks over to him, taking the piece of candy and chuckling.

"It's better than breadcrumbs." Sam says tossing the candy on the ground. They follow a trail ending up at a mine entrance that's marked: WARNING! DANGER! DO NOT ENTER EXTREMELY TOXIC MATERIAL!

Sam looks at Ben and shrugs before going inside, the younger one follows him. Sam takes a flashlight out, shining it around as they walk. They hear growling and Sam turns the flashlight off, pulling Ben against the wall. The Wendigo starts coming towards them and Sam covers Ben's mouth before he can scream. The Wendigo takes a different tunnel and crossing so that the two guys can keep going.

They heard a gun cock from behind the two guys, which made Ben jump which got Sam's attention. Both of the two froze not knowing who it was. "Either the Wendigo, changed his mind of where he is going or that is a gun pointed at us." Ben says as Sam turns around and he to jumps at seeing Ana holding a gun in her hand.

"Ana? It's Sam, you're okay." Sam says as then Ana lowers the gun.

Ana had made the mistake of turning around and that was when she saw Dean, just like she was the night before. "Dean!" Ana says as she practically ran towards her boyfriend, as Sam and Ben ran after her.

Dean was highly disorientated, but still conscious at his surroundings. When he saw his girlfriend, he thought at first, he was losing his mind, that maybe he was hallucinating. "Annie?" Dean's muffled voice says.

"You, okay?" Ana asks Dean even if that is probably the stupidest question that she has ever asked. Ana grabbed her pocket-knife that she had in her pocket, and she started cutting his wrist. She caught Dean before he could fall on the floor. When Dean regained some of his balance he didn't hesitate to bring Ana tightly in a hug.

"Where's the bitch?" Dean asks after he kissed Ana's hair.

"He's gone for now." Sam answers.

Haley stands up suddenly and the brothers and Ana follow her and Ben's movements to find Tommy hanging up by his wrists. "Tommy." Haley cries as her and Ben reach for their brother. Tommy's head jerks up making the older sister jump back with a shriek.

"Cut him down!" Haley exclaims.

Dean has an arm around Ana's waist keeping her close, Sam goes to Tommy to help him down. Dean and Ana digs through the bag as Ana slowly gets up holding three flare guns. "Think these will do?"

"Flare guns. Those'll work." Sam says grinning, as Dean laughs even if it hurts a little. Ana twirls the guns on her fingers.

Sam has one gun; Ana has one gun and Dean has the other. Haley and Ben are helping Tommy, walk as the group begins to head down a tunnel. They all stop when they hear growling. "Looks like someone's home for supper." Dean says.

"We'll never outrun it." Sam says.

"You thinking what I'm thinking?" Dean asks.

"No, no I am not." Ana says, as Dean nudges her.

"I know you're not." Dean says to Ana as she gave him a side-eyed look, followed by a glare.

"Yeah, I think so, Dean." Sam says.

"Alright, listen to me. Stay with Sam. He's going to get you out of here." Dean says, mostly to Haley, Ben and Tommy.

"What are you going to do?" Haley asks, as Dean didn't say anything as he starts walking off.

"Chow time, you freaky bastard! Yeah, that's right, bring it on, baby. I taste good!" Dean exclaims walking away as Sam waits until he's a safe distance away.

"Why is my boyfriend an idiot?" Ana asks mainly to herself.

"Hey, you're the one dating him." Sam says as Ana gives the younger Winchester a look. "Thought you knew this Ana, Dean is stupid."

"True." Ana mutters.

"Alright, come on. Hurry." Sam tells the group, leading them down a tunnel. Ana tightens her grip on her flare gun. They hurry down a tunnel, before they hear growling. Sam and Ana point the gun in the direction, but Sam lowers it when nothing is there.

"Get him out of here." Sam says to Haley as she nods her head. "Go." He orders them. "Go! Go!"

Haley, Ben and Tommy run off. They're running for a while before hearing running after them and they turn to see it was Sam. "Sam!" Haley calls.

"Come on, hurry, hurry, hurry." Sam ushers them forward, as they go as fast as they could. They reach the end of the tunnel, and the wendigo is close behind. "Get behind him."

Haley, Ben and Tommy huddle behind Sam who can mostly hide them due to him being so tall. The Wendigo gets closer which makes Ana hold in a breath. "Hey, you freaky bastard!" They hear Dean and the Wendigo turns to Dean who shoots him in the stomach with the flare gun that he had. The monster then bursts into flames. "Not bad, huh?"

Once the coast was clear, Ana runs towards Dean who picked her up easily hugging her as tightly as he could. "It's okay, babygirl. It's okay." Dean whispers into his girlfriend's ears.

───※ ·❆· ※───

They are now at the ranger's station and an ambulance is loading Tommy up. They also attended to everyone's injuries. Dean and Ana both have some bandages; the couple is leaning against the Impala. When the paramedics were attending to Ana's wounds, she had a death grip on Dean. Even if they were helping her, she didn't want them touching her. Luckily, she wasn't as bad as Dean, outside of the gash that is on her cheek, and a couple scrapes and bruises.

"This is why I hate camping." Ana mumbles, mainly to herself, as Dean couldn't help but laugh at what she said. She was true. Even he hated camping. Dean has an arm around Ana keeping her close as she is leaning her head onto his shoulder.

"Note to self: never go camping." Dean says as Ana nods her head agreeing with him. Sam walks towards the Impala where Ana and Dean are.

"I hate camping." Sam says once he got next to Dean, as Ana was on the other side of Dean.

"Same." Ana and Dean say in unison, as they do their fist-bump like they always do.

"Sam, you know we're going to find Dad, right?" Dean says to his brother.

"Yeah, I know. But in the meantime? I'm driving." Sam says smiling a bit as Dean tosses the keys to Sam who catches them.

Sam, Dean and Ana get in the car, slamming the doors in sync. Ana is sitting on Dean's lap as he is sitting in the passenger seat where Sam typically would be sitting. She has her head on his shoulder as he has his arms around her keeping her close. It is nice and quiet in the Impala, the only sound was the engine of the Impala, and their soft breaths. Dean has one of his arms softly brushing Ana's hair comforting her and keeping her close to him.

"It's okay." Dean says to her, as she nodded her head a little, as she has her head on his shoulder. He turned his head a little and planted a soft kiss on her temple.

"I love you, D." Ana mumbles as she is tired and exhausted. She is glad that she is in her boyfriend's arms again. God she missed it. She missed him. Something about being in Dean's arms just makes everything better.

"I love you too, baby. Forever and always." Dean says softly to Ana as he pressed a soft kiss on her temple again. His arms tightened around her keeping her close to him.
