{nightmare}
(little psa: i know, i know, i need to stop doing this. but anyway, here is another episode i skipped for season one. hope you like it).
Ana is asleep in Dean's arms, as he is asleep also. In Dean's sleep he presses a soft kiss on Ana's cheek. Sam suddenly wakes up he looks across to where Dean and Ana are sleeping. He sits for a moment, then moves into action, and he flipped the light switch, and shakes Dean. "Dean. Dean."
The moment stirs; Sam rises and starts gathering his things. "What are you doing man, it's the middle of the night." Dean says as he rubs his eyes, as Ana moves a little, as she gives Sam a glare for waking her up.
"What is wrong now? I'm sleeping." Ana grumbles annoyed.
"We have to go." Sam says without answering Ana's question.
"What's happened?" Dean asked his brother.
"We have to go. Right now." Sam says as he grabs his bag and walks out.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Dean is driving, Ana fell back asleep, and Sam is on the phone. "McReady. Detective McReady. Badge number 158. I've got a signal 480 in progress. I need the registered owner of a two door Sedan, Michigan plate Mary-Frank-six-zero-three-seven. Yeah okay, just hurry." Sam says as he reads from a Michigan State Police ID.
"Sammy, relax. I'm sure it's just a nightmare." Dean says to his brother as he kept his voice down so that he doesn't wake up Ana.
"Yeah, tell me about it." Sam grumbles.
"I mean it. Y'know, a normal, everyday, naked-in-class, nightmare. This license plate, it won't check out. You'll see." Dean says.
"It felt different, Dean. Real. Like when I dreamt about our old house, and Jessica." Sam says.
"Yeah, that makes sense. You're dreaming about our house, your girlfriend. This guy in your dream, you ever seen him before?" Dean asked.
"No." Sam says.
"No, exactly. Why would you have premonitions about some random dude in Michigan." Dean says.
"I don't know." Sam says.
"Me neither." Dean says.
"Yes, I'm here." Sam says to his phone, he glares at Dean, then picks up his pen. "Jim Miller. Saginaw, Michigan. You have a street address? Got it, thanks." Sam says as he hangs up. "Check out. How far are we?" Sam asked.
"From Saginaw? Coupla hours." Dean says.
"Drive faster." Sam says.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Dean approaches the watching crowd. "What happened?" Dean asked as him, Sam and a half-asleep Ana approach a woman.
"Suicide. Can't believe it." The woman says.
Sam comes up from behind Dean and Ana and stands on the woman's other side. "Did you know them?" He asked.
"Saw him in every Sunday at St. Augustine's. He always seems... seemed, so normal. I guess you never know what's going on behind closed doors." The woman says.
"Guess not." Dean says staring straight ahead, as Ana's head was resting on his shoulder.
"How did... ahh. How are they saying it happened?" Sam asked.
"I heard they found him in the garage, locked inside his car with the engine still running." The woman says.
"Do you know about what time they found him?" Sam asked.
"Oh, it just happened about an hour or two hours ago. His poor family. I can't even imagine what they're going through." The woman says, as a woman stands on the front step of the house, crying and leaning against a middle-aged man. A young man stands behind them, looking distraught.
Sam watches, grimacing then turns to walk away. Dean notices and follows him back, with his arm around Ana. "Sam, we got here as fast as we could." He says to his brother.
"Not fast enough. It doesn't make any sense, man. Why would I even have these premonitions if there wasn't a chance, I could stop them from happening?" Sam asked.
"I dunno." Dean says, as he helped Ana get back into the car, so she can get some more sleep.
Sam is shaking his head as he sighs. "So, what do you think killed him?" Sam asked.
"Maybe the guy just killed himself? Maybe there's nothing supernatural going on at all." Dean says as Sam shakes his head.
"I'm telling you. I watched it happen. He was murdered by something Dean. I watched it trap him in the garage." Sam says.
"What was it, a spirit, poltergeist, what?" Dean asked.
"I don't know what it was. I don't know why I'm having these dreams, I don't know what the hell is happening, Dean." Sam says, as Dean stares at Sam for a long moment. "What?"
"Nothing. I'm just, I'm worried about you man." Dean says.
"Well, don't look at me like that!" Sam says.
"I'm not looking at you like anything." Dean says looking away. "Though I gotta say, you look like crap."
"Nice thanks." Sam grumbles.
"Come on, let's just pick this up in the morning." Dean says as he moves to open the car door. "We'll check out the house, talk to the family."
"Dean, you saw them, they're devasted. They're not going to want to talk to us." Sam says.
"Yeah, you're right. But I think I know who they will talk to." Dean says thinking.
"Who?" Sam asks as Dean smirks.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Dean adjusts his suit as Ana's hair is in a semi loose braid, she reaches out and rings the doorbell. Sam's hair is slicked back neatly. "This has gotta be a whole new low for us." Sam says with a sigh.
Dean presses a kiss on the side of Ana's head with a smirk, then he looks back at the door. The man who was comforting the woman on the step the night before opens the door. Dean and Sam are dressed as priests in black suits, as Ana wears a skirt that goes to her knees, and a blouse over her shoulder, along with tights.
"Good afternoon, I'm Father Simmons, this is Father Frehley. This is Sister Taylor. We're new junior priests, over at St. Augustine's. May we come in?" Dean asked as the man nods his head. "Thanks."
"We're very sorry for your loss." Sam says to the man.
"It's in difficult times like these when the Lord's guidance is most needed." Dean says.
"Look, you wanna pitch your whole, 'Lord has a plan' thing? Fine. Just don't pitch it to me. My brother's gone." The man says.
Just then Ms. Miller appears behind him. "Roger. Please!" The woman says.
"Excuse me." Roger says as he walks away.
"I'm sorry about my brother-in-law. He's... he's just so upset about Jim's death. Would you like some coffee?" The woman asked.
"That would be great." Dean says as Ana offers the woman a small smile.
───※ ·❆· ※───
The three of them are in the living room, as Dean and Ana are sitting on the couch, and Sam is in an armchair. Ms. Miller pours coffee and hands it around. "It was wonderful of you to stop by. The support of the church means so much right now."
"Of course, after all we're God's children." Dean says as when she walks away as that's when Dean immediately takes some more cocktail sausages from the coffee table, as he looks at Ana who is shaking her head. "What?"
"Just... tone it down a little bit, Father." Ana says as that's when Ms. Miller returns.
"So, Ms. miller, did your husband have a history with depression?" Sam asked.
"Nothing like that." Ms. Miller says as she starts to get upset. "We had our ups and downs like everyone, but we were happy." She says as that's when she starts breaking down. "I just don't understand... how Jim could do something like this."
"I'm so sorry you had to find him like that." Sam says as the woman gestures towards behind her.
"Actually, our son Max, he was the one who found him." Ms. Miller says, as Sam looks through the doors into the dining room and sees Max who is sitting in the corner, staring off into space.
"Do you mind if maybe, I go talk to him?" Sam asked.
"Oh, thank you, Father." Ms. Miller says.
Once Sam, leaves to go talk to Max, that leaves Ana and Dean along with Ms. Miller. "Ms. Miller you have a lovely home. How long have you lived here?" Dean asked.
"We moved in about five years ago." Ms. Miller says.
"The only problems with these old houses. I bet you have all kinds of headaches." Dean says, as Ana took a sip from her coffee.
"Like what?" Ms. Miller asked.
"Well, weird leaks, electrical shortages, odd settling noises at night. That kind of thing." Dean says.
"No, nothing like that. It's been perfect." Ms. Miller says.
"May I use your restroom." Ana says.
"Oh sure, it's just up the stairs." Ms. Miller says, as Ana rises.
Ana enters the hallway, checking that the coast is clear, she pulls an inter-red thermal scanner from her pocket and turns it on, shining it into rooms as she passes. As she reaches the end of the shall she hears footsteps coming up the stairs and she hastily hides the scanner, as Dean appears. "Anything, baby?" He asked her as she nodded her head at what he said.
"Nope." Ana says as Dean presses a kiss on the top of her head, as the two of them head back down the stairs, with their hands interlocked.
───※ ·❆· ※───
The three of them are in the motel room, as Dean is cleaning his weapons, as Sam enters the motel. "What do you have?" Dean asked.
"A whole lotta nothing. Nothing bad has happened in the Miller house since it was build." Sam says.
"What about the land?" Dean asked.
"No graveyards, battle fields, tribal lands or any other kind of atrocity on or near the property." Sam says as he sinks into the other bed.
"Hey man I told you, Ana's searched that house up and down, no cold spots, no sulfur scents, nothing." Dean says.
"And the family said everything was normal?" Sam asked.
"Well, if there was a demon or poltergeist in there, you think somebody would have noticed anything? Ana's used the infer-red thermal scanner man, and there was nothing." Dean says to his brother.
"So, what do you think Jim Miller killed himself and my dream was just some sorta freakish coincidence?" Sam asked.
"I dunno. I'm pretty sure there's nothing supernatural about that house." Dean says.
"Yeah. Well, maybe it has nothing to do with the house." Sam says as he rubs his temples as he takes a deep breath. "Maybe it's just. Gosh." Sam says, holding his hand to his forehead. "...maybe it's connected to Jim in some other way?"
"What's wrong with you?" Dean asked.
Sam makes anguished noises and sinking from the bed to crouch on the floor. "Ahh, my head." Sam says.
Dean leaves him and Ana's bed. "Sam? Hey." Dean says as he crouches and grabs Sam's arms. Hey! What's going on? Talk to me."
Sam stares at Dean, then Sam flashes out of the motel room and is a fly on the wall, a Roger enters his kitchen with groceries. He notices the window is open and closes and locks it. When he returns to unpacking the lock moves by itself, and the window slides open again. Roger is confused, as he attempts to close it but it sticks. He leans out, twisting to look up at the top of the window. The window slides closed, decapitating him, as blood gushes up over the window.
"It's happening again. Something's gonna kill Roger Miller." Sam says.
───※ ·❆· ※───
The three of them are in the car again, this time it is to Roger Miller's apartment, as Sam hangs up the phone. "450 West Grove, Apartment 1120." Sam says to Dean.
"You okay?" Dean asked his brother.
"Yeah." Sam says.
"If you're gonna hurl I'll pull the car over you know, cause the upholstery..." Dean says.
"I'm fine." Sam says.
"Alright." Dean says.
"Just drive." Sam says as he looks at Dean and he sighs heavily and turns away. "Dean, I'm scared, man. These nightmares weren't bad enough, now I'm seeing things when I'm awake. And these, visions, or whatever, they're getting more intense, and painful." Sam says to his brother.
"Come on, man, you'll be alright. It'll be fine." Dean says to him.
"What is it about the Millers? Why am I connected to them? Why am I watching them die? Why the hell is this happening to me?" Sam asked.
"I don't know Sam, but we'll figure it out. We've faced the unexplainable every day. This is just another thing." Dean says.
"No, it's never been us. It's never been in the family like this. Tell the truth, you can't tell this doesn't freak you out." Sam says to his brother.
Dean stares straight ahead for a long moment. "This doesn't freak me out." Dean says, as Sam stares at him then turns away.
───※ ·❆· ※───
The impala pulls up as Roger approaches the entrance with a bag of groceries. "Hey, Roger." Sam says out the window.
"What are you guys, missionaries? Leave me alone." Roger says.
"Please!" Sam says, but Roger is gone. Dean guns the engine and jumps a curb as he hurriedly parks the car, as then him, Sam and Ana get out of the car.
"Hey, Roger. We're trying to help!" Sam says as he runs towards the Miller man.
"I don't want your help." Roger says to the youngest Winchester brother, as he walks away from the three of them.
"We're not priests, you gotta listen to us!" Sam calls after Roger.
"Roger, you're in danger!" Ana calls out to him as well, but of course he doesn't listen to her either.
"Come on. Come on, come on." Dean says, as the three of them run a corner to a back entrance, it is locked. Dean quickly looks around then kicks it open, they jump to the first level of the fire escape then up the stairs. Ana nearly trips but she caught herself before she could fall flat on her face. Then again, they don't have time to go to the hospital because Ana has a broken nose or something, like that.
When the three of them are on the floor from Roger's house, they hear the window slide down and a wet squelching noise is heard, as Ana gags at hearing that kind of noise. Sam then freezes when Ana gagged, as Dean sprints past him and his girlfriend and grabs the railing.
Roger's head lies in the flower bed under the window, his blood is all over the kitchen window. Sam joins him and is followed by Ana as well. After a long moment, Dean pulls out a hankerchief, from his pocket, and throws one to both Sam and Ana, and starts wiping down the railing, as Ana started doing that as well, without question. "Start wiping down your fingerprints, we don't want the cops to know we were here. Come on, come on!" Dean says to his brother, as he uses his rang to push up the window leading out to the fire escape of the building. "I'm gunna take a look outside." Dean says as Sam continues wiping down the metal railing, as Ana goes after Dean.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Dean and Ana walk out of the apartment to look to see what had caused Roger's now death minutes ago but of course they found nothing. Go figure. "We're telling you there was nothing in there. No signs either, just like the Miller's house." Dean says.
"I saw something, in the vision, like a dark shape. Something was... something was stalking Roger." Sam says as Ana turned to the youngest Winchester and raised her eyebrows at what he said.
"Whatever it was, are you sure it's not connected to their house?" Ana says. "Because you know spirits can follow you, when they attach to you." Ana says to the youngest Winchester.
"No, it's connected to the family themselves. So, what do you two think like a vengeful spirit?" He asked, as Ana shrugged her shoulders.
"It could be Angiak." Ana says as Dean turned his head towards his girlfriend and gives her a weird look.
"The huh?" Dean asked her, with a weird look on his face.
"They're Bansheees. It is in the Irish folklore, and is another form of an omen, or a harbinger of death." Ana tells her boyfriend as Sam nodded his head at what she said.
"So, maybe Roger and Jim Miller got involved in something heavy, something curse worthy." Dean says.
"And now the something is out for revenge. And the men in their family are dying." Ana says. "Great, just peachy." Ana says as Dean huffed a small laugh at what she said, which made Ana give him a look.
"Shut it." Ana says to her boyfriend.
"Hey, you think Max is in danger?" Sam asked, more so to himself, but Ana and Dean had heard it.
"Let's figure it out before he is." Dean says as Ana nodded her head at what he said.
"Well, I know one thing I have in common with these people." Sam says as Ana turned her head towards the youngest Winchester.
"What's that?" Ana and Dean asked in unison as they did their fist bump, like they always do when they say something in unison.
"Both of our families are cursed." Sam says as that's when Dean looked at Sam.
"Our family's not cursed! We just...had our dark spots." Dean says as Ana couldn't help but agree with what he said knowing that he wasn't wrong in the slightest.
"Our dark spots are... pretty dark." Sam says, as Ana nodded her head again at what Sam said.
"You're...dark." Dean says as Ana snickered at what he said which earned a glare from Sam as she only smiled innocent, like she hadn't done anything.
───※ ·❆· ※───
The three of them then arrive at the Miller house, as Max leads the three of them in. They are wearing their priest outfits once more. "My Mom's resting, she's pretty wrecked." Max says as Ana nods her head at what he said.
"Of course." Ana says to the man.
"All these people kept coming with like, casseroles? I finally ad to tell them all to go away. You know cause nothing says I'm sorry like a tuna casserole." Max says as Ana nodded her head at what he said, as Sam smiles at what he said, as Max gave the youngest Winchester a small smile in return.
"How are you holding up?" The youngest Winchester asked, as Max gestures to the lounge as the four of them all take a seat.
"Okay." Max says.
"You're dad and your uncle were close." Sam says.
"Yeah, I guess. I mean, they were brothers. They used to hang out all the time when I was little." Max says to the three of them.
"But not much lately?" Ana asked the man.
"No, it's not that. It's just... we used to be neighbors when I was a kid, and we lived across town in this house. Uncle Roger lived next door, so he was over all the time." Max says as Ana nodded her head at what he said.
"Right, so, how was it in that house when you were a kid?" Sam asked.
"It was fine. Why?" Max asked.
"All good memories? Do you remember anything unusual? Something involving your father and your uncle, maybe?" Sam asked as Max shook his head at what he said.
"What do ya... why do you ask?" Max asked.
"Just a question." Dean says to the Miller guy.
"No, there was nothing. We were totally normal. Happy?" Dean says as Ana narrowed her eyebrows but she hadn't said anything. She as a feeling that isn't the case, and something must've happed. Max seems almost scared, almost when Sam had brought it up. It made the nosy side of her start to come out.
"Good. That's good. Well you must be exhausted. We should take off." Dean says as Ana gave him a small smile, even if said small smile was a little forced.
"Right." Sam says to Max. "Thanks."
"Yeah." Max says as when the three of them had their backs turned towards Max they shared a look.
───※ ·❆· ※───
The three of them walk down the driveway to stand beside the impala. "No one's family is totally normal and happy. See, when he was talking about his old house?"
"He sounded scared." Ana says as Dean nodded his head at what she said.
"Yeah, Max isn't telling us everything. I say we go find the old neighborhood, find out what life was really like for the Millers." Dean says, as now it was Ana's turn of nodding her head at him.
"I thought it was just me. Just hear me out. You know how sometimes people have an itching that something isn't right?" Ana says as both of the brothers turned to her. "Something you know seemed off, because I thought in my head, 'he's scared'."
"Maybe it is kind of how you're scared of your dad?" Sam says, as the only thing that both Dean and Ana have told him about Tristian Thompson (Ana's biological father, not Bobby), is of bits and pieces of the physical abuse, but more so that Ana was petrified of her father. When Ana didn't say anything besides getting into the impala that's when it clicked for Sam as Dean had given him a look. That's when he pieced it together. "Hey, I didn't mean it like that. Okay." Sam says to her trying to apologize to her, but she brushed it off. Now Sam felt bad, as she was relatively fine, until he mentioned that.
"Sam, just...just leave her be." Dean says to Sam, as the younger Winchester nodded his head at what his brother said.
───※ ·❆· ※───
The three of them stand on the footpath as the brothers are talking to a man in his front yard, as Ana is on the other side of Dean. "Have you lived in the neighborhood very long?" Sam asked.
"Yeah, almost 20 years now, it's nice and quiet. Why, you looking to buy?" The man asked.
"No, no, actually, we were wondering if you recall a family that used to live right across the street I believe." Sam says.
"Yeah, the Millers. They had a little boy named Max." The man says to the three of them. "Yeah, I remember. The brother had a place next door. So, uh, what's this about, is that poor kid, okay?" The man says.
"What do you mean?" Ana asked.
"Well, in my life I've never seen a child treated like that. I mean, I'd hear Mr. Miller yelling and throwing things clear across the street, he was a mean drunk. He used to beat the shit outta Max. Broke his arm two times that I know of." The man says, as Ana raised her brow when he said that.
"This was going on regularly?" Sam asked.
"Practically every day. In fact, that thug brother of his was just as likely to take a swing at the boy, but the worst part was the stepmother. She'd just stand there, checked out, not lifting a finger to protect him. I must have called the police seven or eight times. Never did any good." The man says.
"Now, you said step-mother." Dean says.
"I think his real mother died. Some sorta... accident. Car accident I think." The man says as Sam has his hand to his head and is grimacing.
That's when the three of three of them stopped the conversation and left as Dean holds an arm out towards Dean. Sam looks up and the words spins.
───※ ·❆· ※───
The three of them are in the impala. "Max is doing it. Everything I've been seeing. Sam says to him.
"You sure about this?" Dean asked.
"Yeah, I saw him." Sam says.
"How's he pulling it off?" Dean asked.
"I don't know, like telekinesis?" Sam asked.
"What so he's psychic, a spoon bender?" Dean asked, as Ana looked up before looking back down.
"I didn't even realize it but this whole time, he was there. He was outside the garage, when his Dad died, he was in the apartment, when his Uncle died. These visions, this whole time -- I wasn't connecting to the Millers, I was connecting to Max! The thing is I don't get why, man. I guess -- because we're so alike?" Sam says.
"What are you talking about? The dude's nothing like you." Dean says.
"Well, we both have psychic abilities, we both..." Sam says, as Ana turned up the music of her mp3 player, to tune out the brothers.
"Both what? Sam, Max is a monster, he's already killed two people, now he's gunning for a third." Dean says.
"Well, uh, what he went through, the beatings, to want revenge on those people? I'm sorry, man, I hate to say it, but it's not that insane." Sam says.
"Yeah, but it doesn't justify murdering your entire family!" Dean says.
"Dean..." Sam says as Dean pulls over to Max's house.
"He's no different from anything else we've hunted, all right? We gotta end him." Dean says.
"We're not going to kill Max." Sam says to his brother.
"Then what? Hand him over to the cops and say, 'lock him up officer, he kills with the power of his mind'." Dean says sarcastically.
"No way. Forget it." Sam says, as Dean turns off the engine.
"Sam." Dean says.
"Dean. He's a person. We can talk to him. Hey, promise me you'll follow my lead on this one." Sam says to his brother.
There was a small moment before Dean spoke. "Alright, fine. But I'm not letting him hurt anybody else." Dean says as he removes his pistol from the glove compartment and glares at Sam and opens the door.
───※ ·❆· ※───
"You know I never did anything." Ms. Miller says to Max.
"That's right. You didn't do anything. You didn't stop them, not once!" Max says as that's when the brothers burst through the front door with Ana behind them.
"Fathers?" Ms. Miller says to the brothers.
"What are you doing here?" Max asked the three of them.
"Ah, sorry to interrupt." Dean says.
"Max, can we, uh, can we talk to you outside for just one second?" Sam says to the boy.
"About what?" Max asked suspiciously.
"It's... it's private. I wouldn't want to bother your mother with it." Sam says, as Ana stayed off to the side, then Sam turns to Ms. Miller. "We won't be long at all though, I promise."
Max looks back at his stepmother, then back at the three of them. "Okay."
"Great." Sam says as the three of them turn for the door, as Max follows behind Ana. Dean grasps the doorknob he turns back to smile at Max. Max sees the butt of the pistol in Dean's waistband in the hall mirror. Suddenly, the knob is pulled from Dean's hand and the door slams shut, as does the wooden window blinds all around the room.
Max backs up away. "You're not priests." Dean draws his gun but Max uses his power to pull it away, sliding it across the floor to where he can pick it up. He holds it on Ana.
"Max, what's happening?" Ms. Miller says to her son.
"Shut up." Max says.
"What are you doing?" Ms. Miller says as Max uses his power, Max flings his mother backwards, as she hits her head on the kitchen bench and falls to the ground unconscious.
"I said shut up!" Max says.
"Max calm down." Sam says.
"Who are you, three?" Max asked.
"We just wanna talk." Sam says.
"Yeah, right, that's why you brought this!" Max says as he indicates the gun that is currently pulled onto Ana.
"That was a mistake, alright? So was lying about who we were. But no more lies Max okay? Just please, just hear me out." Sam says to him.
"About what?" Max asked.
"I saw you do it. I saw you kill your Dad an your Uncle before it happened." Sam says to the boy.
"What?" Max asked.
"I'm having visions, Max. About you." Sam says.
"You're crazy." Max says as that's when Ana piped up.
"Oh, so you weren't going to launch a knife at your step mom? So, if you weren't going to launch the knife at her, then why did Sam have a vision about you doing that very thing to her. Explain that." Ana says even if she snapped a little at him. "Sam was drawn here alright, we're here to help you." Ana says.
"No one can help me." Max says as he is crying now.
"Let us try. We'll just talk, him and you. Me, Dean and your mom will get out of here." Ana says as she turns to Dean and gives him a look, knowing he was going to find some excuse.
The three of them look up as the chandelier begins to shake as Ana takes a breath and swallows the lump that she didn't know she was holding at that second. "Nobody leaves this house!" Max says as he was the one controlling the chandelier.
"And nobody has to, alright? They'll just... they'll just go upstairs." Sam says to Max.
"Sam, we're not leaving you alone with him." Dean says to his brother.
"Yes, you are." Sam says to Dean as he turns back to Max. "Look, Max. You're in charge here, alright, we all know that. No one's going to do anything that you don't want to do but I'm talking five minutes here man." Sam says.
"Sam!" Dean says.
Max looks back at his step-mother as she is still unconscious. "Five minutes?" Max says as that's when the chandelier stops shaking." Go." Max says as Dean moves to pick up Ms. Miller.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Sam and Max sit in the living room. Max stares at a letter opener and it raises on it's point and twirls slowly in circles. "Look, I can't begin to understand what you went through." Sam says.
"That's right you can't." Max says.
"Max, this has to stop." Sam says.
"It will, after my stepmother..." Max says but Sam stops him.
"No. You need to let her go." Sam says.
"Why?" Max questions the youngest Winchester.
"Did she beat you?" Sam asked.
"No, but she never tried to save me. She's a part of it too." Max says.
"What they did, to you, what they did to you growing up, they deserved to be punished..." Sam says.
"Growing up? Try last week." Max says as he gets up and lifts his shirt. His chest and side is a mass of bruises and marks. "My dad still hits me. Just in places people wouldn't see. Old habits die hard I guess." Max says.
"I'm sorry." Sam says softly.
"When I first found out I could move things it was a gift. My life, I was helpless, but now I had this. So, last week Dad gets drunk, the first time in a long time. And he beats me to hell, first time in a long time. And then I knew what I had to do." Max says to him.
"Why didn't you just leave?" Sam asked.
"It wasn't about getting away. Just knowing they would still be out there. It was about... not being afraid. When my Dad used to look at me, there was hate in his eyes. Do you know what that feels like?" Max asked.
"No." Sam says.
"He blamed me for everything. For his job, for his life, for my Mom's death." Max says.
"Why would he blame you for your mom's death?" Sam asked the boy.
"Because she died in my nursery, while I was asleep in my crib. As if that makes it my fault." Max says, as Sam looks shocked.
"She died in your nursery?" He asked.
"There was a fire, and he'd get drunk and babble on like she died in some insane way. He said that she burned up and pinned to the ceiling!" Max says to Sam.
"Listen to me Max. What your dad said about what happened to your mom. It's real." Sam says.
"What?" Max asked.
"It happened to my mom, too, exactly the same. My nursery, my crib, my Dad saw her on the ceiling." Sam says.
"Your Dad must have bene as drunk as mine." Max says.
"No, no. It's not the same thing, Max. The same thing killed our mothers." Sam says to him.
"That's impossible." Max says to him.
"This must be why I'm having visions during the day. Why they're getting more intense. Cause you and I must be connected in some way. Your abilities, they started 6-7 months ago right, out of the blue?" Sam says.
"How'd you know that?" Max asked.
"Cause that's when my abilities started Max. Yours seem to be much further along but still, this has to mean something, right? I mean for some reason, you and I...you and I were chosen." Sam says.
"For what?" Max asked.
"I don't know, but Dean, Ana and I are hunting for your mom's killer. We can find answers, answers that can help us both. But you gotta let us go Max. You gotta find your stepmother." Sam says.
"No. What they did to me. I still have nightmares. I'm so scared all the time, like I'm just waiting for that next beating. But you gotta let us go Max. You gotta let your stepmother go." Sam says.
"No, what they did to me. I still have nightmares. I'm so scared all the time, like I'm just waiting for that next beating. I'm so sick of being scared all the time, I just want this to be over!"
"It won't. Don't you get it? The nightmares won't end, Max. Not like this, it's just more pain. And it makes you as bad as them. Max, you don't have to go through all this by yourself." Max says.
"I'm sorry." Max says, as he uses his powers to fling Sam backwards into the hall closet and slams the door. He looks across a tall, heavy, hallway bookshelf slides in front of the doors, blocking them.
"No, Max!" Sam yells as he bangs on the doors.

The gun is midair, and turns to point
"Stay back. This is not about you." Max says warningly to Dean.
"You wanna kill her you gotta go through me first." Dean says.
"Okay." Max says as that's when the door bursts open and Sam comes in.
"No, don't! Don't! Please. Please. Max. Max. We can help you. Alright. But this, what you're doing. It's not the solution. It's not gonna fix anything." Sam says, as Max is a mess as he is shaking, he is sweaty and he's in tears. He stares at Sam, anguished, suddenly he relaxes a little, his face clears.
"You're right." Max says as Sam smiles at him, as Dean turned Ana around so that she wouldn't have to see what's going to happen. Max turns away from Sam, as the gun swings to point at him, as he shoots himself in the head.
"No!!" Sam yells as Dean kissed the top of Ana's head.

The three of them are standing off to the side as the cops are here because of Max's suicide. "Max attacked me. He threatened me with a gun." Ms. Miller says as she is sitting on the couch in shock.
"Who are these three?" The cop asked as he indicates, the brothers and Ana.
"They're... family friends. I called them as soon as Max arrived, I was scared. They tried to stop him. They fought for the gun." Ms. Miller says as Dean has his arm around Ana.
"Where did Max get the gun?" The cop asked, as the brothers exchange looks.
"I don't know. He showed up with it, and..." Ms. Miller says as she breaks down crying.
"It's alright, Ms. Miller." The cop says.
"I lost everyone." Ms. Miller says sobbing.
The cop then turns towards the brothers and Ana. "We'll give you a call if we have any further questions." The cop says.
"Thanks officer." Ana says with a small smile as the three of them walk out of the house, as Dean still has his arm around Ana's back.

The three of them are walking down the path outside of the house. "If I'd just said something else. Gotten through to him somehow." Sam says.
"Ah, don't do that." Dean says.
"Do what?" Sam asked his brother.
"Torture yourself. It wouldn't have mattered what you said, Max was too far gone." Dean says.
"When I think about how he looked at me man, right before. I shoulda done something." Sam says.
"Come on, man, you risked your life. I mean yeah, maybe if we had gotten there 20 years earlier." Dean says to his brother as him and Ana are beside each other as Sam is on the other side of the car.
"Well, I'll tell you one thing. We're lucky we had Dad." Sam says.
"Well, I never thought I'd hear you say that." Dean says as Ana looked at Dean as he looks astounded and pleased at the same time
"Well, it coulda gone a whole other way after Mom. A little more tequila and a little less demon hunting and we woulda had Max's childhood. All things considered, we turned out okay. Thanks to him." Sam says.
Dean turns back to look at Max's house. "All things considered."

The couple are in the motel room, as Sam, walks back inside of the motel room. "Dean, I've been thinking." Sam says as Ana was laying on her and Dean's bed as she was reading a Harry Potter book.
"Well, that's never a good thing." Dean says as Ana only smiled at what he said.
"I'm serious. I've been thinking, this demon, whatever it is. Why would it kill Mom, and Jessica, and Max's mother, you know? What does it want?" Sam asked his brother.
"I have no idea." Dean says to him.
"Well, you think maybe, it was after us? After Max and me?" Sam says.
"Why would you think that?" Dean asked his brother.
"I mean, either telekinesis or premonitions, we both had abilities, you know? Maybe he was, he was after us for some reason." Sam says.
"Sam. If it had wanted you, it would've taken you. Okay? This is not your fault, it's not about you." Dean says to his brother.
"Then what is it about?" Sam asked.
"It's about that damn thing that did this to our family. The thing that we're gonna find, the thing we're gonna kill. And that's all." Dean says to his brother.
"Actually there's uh... there's something else too." Sam says, as Ana looked up from her book that she was reading.
"Ah jeez what." Dean says to his brother.
"When Max left me in that closet, with that big cabinet against the door... I moved it." Sam says.
"Huh. You got a little more upper body strength than I gave you credit for." Dean says to his brother, as Ana took a drink of her Dr. Pepper, bottle.
"No, man, I moved it. Like, Max." Sam says.
Dean pauses and looks at Sam. "Oh." Dean says. "Right." He says.
"Yeah." Sam says.
Dean picks up a spoon. "Bend this." Dean says to his brother.
"I can't just turn it on and off Dean." Sam says frustrated at his brother.
"Well, how'd you, do it?" Dean asked his brother.
"I don't know, I can't control it. I just... I saw you die, and it just came out of me, like a, like a punch. You know like... a freak adrenaline thing." Sam says.
"Yeah, well, I'm sure it won't happen again." Dean says to his brother.
"Yeah, maybe. Aren't you worried, man? Aren't you worried I could turn into Max or something?" Sam asked his brother.
"Nope. No way. You wanna know why?" Dean says to his brother as Ana looks back down to her book that she's reading.
"No, why?" Sam asked.
"Cause you got one advantage that Max didn't have." Dean says.
"Dad? Because Dad's not here, Dean." Sam says.
"No. Me." Dean says with a smirk. "As long as I'm around, or Annie, nothing bad's gonna happen to you." He says to his brother as Sam tries to smile at what Dean said. "Sides, I know where we can go, now." Dean says.
"Where?" Sam asked.
"Vegas." Dean says, as he grins at Sam as he tilts his head and looks away, and walks out of the door of the motel room. "What? Come on, man. Crap tables. We'd clean up!" Dean says as that's when him and Ana follows the youngest Winchester out as they had packed earlier.
"Before we go to Vegas, can we get food?" Ana asked Dean as he turned towards her and gives her a teasing look.
"You ate two hours ago." Dean says to her as she gave him a look.
"Okay, and? I'm hungry again." Ana says to him.
