Dean is on Ana's computer going on websites for their next hunt. Ana is finishing her braid in her hair. Sam is on his bed drawing a picture of a tree on a note pad. "Alright, I've been cruisin', some websites. I think I found a few candidates for our next gig. A fishing trawler found off the coast of West Cali, its crew vanished. And uh, we got some cattle mutilations in West Texas." Dean reads as he looks up. "Hey, college boy." Dean says as Sam looks up from his drawing. "Am I boring you with this hunting evil stuff?" He says to Sam, before he turns to Ana. "Don't say anything."
"Yes. Yes, you are boring me."
"Annie, behave."
"No, I'm listening. Keep going." Sam says, as Dean looks back down.
"And here, in Sacramento a man shot himself in the head. Three times." Dean says as he waves his hand in front of Sam's face. "Any of these blowin', up your skirt, pal?"
Sam looks at his picture. "Wait. I've seen this."
"Seen what?" Ana asks.
Sam gets up from his bed and goes searching through his duffel bag. "What are you doing?" Dean asks. Sam finds a photo of their family when he was a baby and compares the three in the photo of his drawing.
"Dean, I know where we have to go next." Sam says.
"Where?" Dean asks.
"Back home--back to Kansas." Sam says as Ana breaks her gaze from Sam and looks at Dean.
"Okay, random. Where'd that come from?" Dean asks as Sam shows the picture to Dean.
"Alright, um, this photo was taken in front of our old house, right? The house where Mom died?" Sam says.
"Yeah." Dean says.
"And it didn't burn down, right? I mean, not completely, they rebuilt it, right?" Sam says as Ana furrows her eyebrows.
"I guess so, yeah. What the hell are you talkin', about?" Dean asks his brother.
"Okay, look, this is going to sound crazy -- but...the people who live in our old house...I think they might be in danger." Sam says.
"Why do you think that?" Ana asks as she moves to Dean.
"Uh...it's just, um...look, trust me on this, okay?" Sam says as he starts to walk away and Dean follows him.
"Wait, whoa, whoa, trust you?" Dean asks as Ana sits on the table watching this happening in front of her.
"Yeah." Sam says.
"Come on, man. that's weak. You got to give me a little more than that." Dean says to his brother.
"I can't explain it, okay." Sam says, as Ana furrows her eyebrows at what the youngest Winchester said.
"Well tough. I'm not goin', anywhere until you do." Dean says as Sam sighs. Dean stands there with his arms crossed over his chest looking at his brother.
"I have these nightmares." Sam admits.
"So, we've noticed." Dean says, as he brings Ana into the conversation also.
"And sometimes...they come true." Sam says as Ana raised an eyebrow.
"So, you're saying that they come true. That is suppose to be dreams and wishes, but nightmares? That's knew, and slightly crazy but, huh?" Ana says as she rambles a little, if it was a different situation Dean would have smiled at her rambling. In his defense he finds her rambling adorable, especially when she gets into talking about whatever it is.
"Look, Dean...I dreamt of Jessica's death -- for days before it happened." Sam says.
"Sam, people have weird dreams, man
I'm sure it's just a coincidence." Dean says as he sits on the bed that was his and Ana's.
"No, it isn't a coincidence Dean." Sam says to his brother as Ana has her arms crossed over her chest as she is sitting on the table where Dean was while he was searching for a next hunt.
"Then what is it, Sam?" Dean asks his brother as he too has his arms over his chest.
Sam sighs before he starts. "I dreamt about the blood dripping, her on the ceiling, the fire, the everything, and I didn't do anything about it, 'cause I didn't believe it. And now I am dreaming about that tree, about our house, and about some woman inside screaming for help. I mean, that's where it all started, man, this had to mean something, right?" Sam explains to Dean. Ana kept her eyes on Dean as he went through different emotions all within milliseconds.
"I don't know." Dean says slowly as Ana could tell that Dean was overwhelmed. She sighed a little before she walked over towards Dean, and instantly he wrapped his arm around her side, as he positioned her onto his knee.
"What do you mean you don't know, Dean? This woman might be in danger. I mean, this might even be the thing that killed Mom and Jessica!"
"Alright, just slow down, would ya?" Dean asks as he has an arm around Ana keeping her close on his knee. "I mean, first you tell me that you've got the Shining? And then you tell me that I've got to go back home? Especially when..." Dean says to his brother as Sam looks at Dean.
"When what?" Sam asks his brother.
"Especially when Dean swore to himself that he would never go back there." Ana says as Sam looks at Ana then at Dean who nods his head.
"Look, Dean, we have to check this out. Just to make sure." Sam says to Dean.
"I know we do." Dean says to his brother.
───※ ·❆· ※───
The brothers and Ana pull up to the old house that the brothers lived in before Mary died. "You going to be alright, man?" Sam asks his brother.
"Let me get back to you on that." Dean says to his younger brother.
The three of them get out of the car, Ana interlocked her hand with Dean who gave it a small squeeze, to soothe his anxiety and nervousness that he has right now. Especially when he swore to himself that he wouldn't come back to the house. Then again, she doesn't blame him for not wanting to come back to the house.
Sam knocked on the front door, and moments later. A blonde woman opens the door. Sam is shocked that she is the same woman from his dream. "Yes?"
"Sorry to bother you, ma'am, but we're with the Federal--" Dena starts but he got interrupted by Sam.
"I'm Sam Winchester, and this is my brother, Dean and his girlfriend Ana. Me and my brother used to live here. You know, we were just drivin', by, and we were wondering if we could come see the old place." Sam says to the woman, as Ana gave her a small smile.
"Winchester. Yeah, that's so funny. You know, I think I found some of your photos the other night." The woman says as her name is Jenny.
"You did?" Dean asks as Jenny nods and steps aside.
"Come on in." Jenny says as the three of them walk into the house.
Inside the house, the four of them go to the kitchen. A little girl is sitting at the table doing homework and a toddler is in his playpen.
"That's Richie. He's kind of a juice junkie." Jenny says as she takes a sippy cup out of the refrigerator and hands it to Richie. "But hey, at least he won't get scurvy." Jenny jokes as she walks over to the little girl at the table. "Sari, this is Sam and Dean. They sed to live here. That is Ana."
"Hi." The little girl whose name is Sari says as she waves to the three of them. Ana returns the wave with a small smile on her face.
"Hey, Sari." Sam says with a small smile.
"So, you just moved in." Ana says as Jenny nods her head.
"Yeah, from Wichita." Jenny says as Ana nods her head.
"Do you have family here..." Dean asks as Jenny shakes her head.
"No. I just uh...needed a fresh start, that's all. So, new town, new job--I mean, as soon as I find one. New house." Jenny says as Ana nods her head.
"So, how you likin', it so far?" Sam asks Jenny.
"Well, uh, all due respect to your childhood home -- I mean. I'm sure you had lots of happy memories here." Jenny says as Dean smiles weakly. "But this place has its issues."
"What do you mean?" Ana asks the blonde woman.
"Well, it is getting old. Like the wiring, you know? We've got flickering lights almost hourly." Jenny says as Ana walks behind Dean and interlocks their hands together.
"That isn't so bad. What else?" Ana asks as Dean rubs his thumb softly over her knuckles.
"Um, sinks backed up, there's rats in the basement." Jenny says as then she pauses. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to complain."
Dean isn't offended at anything that she said. "Have you seen the rats or have you just heard scratching?" He asks the blonde woman.
"It is just the scratching actually." Jenny says.
"Mom?" Sari says as Jenny kneels down next to her daughter. "Ask them if it was there when they lived here."
"What is it, Sari?" Ana asks softly to the little girl.
"There is a thing in my closet." Sari tells the red-haired woman.
"Oh, no, baby. There was nothing in their closets." Jenny says as she then turns her head towards the brothers and Ana. "Right?"
"Right. No, no, no of course not." Sam says to the blonde woman.
"She had a nightmare the other night." Jenny says as Ana rests her head onto Dean's shoulder as he continues the soft motion of his thumb rubbing on her knuckles.
"I wasn't dreaming. It came into my bedroom, and it was on fire." Sari explains as Ana and the brothers are both shocked by what the little girl said.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Ana and the brothers are now walking back to the car, Ana is walking beside Dean as she is still holding his hand, as their hands are now in her hoodie pocket, because in her defense her hand was getting cold.
"You hear that? A figure on fire." Sam says to Dean.
"And that woman, Jenny, that was the woman in your dreams?" Dean asks his brother.
"Yeah, and you hear what she was talking about? Scratching, flickering lights, both signs of a malevolent spirit." Sam says.
"Yeah, well, I'm just freaked out that your weirdo visions are coming true." Sam says as Ana signs as she knows that this supposed hunt is going to be long, especially if all she hears is the brothers arguing.
"Well, forget about that for a minute. The thing in the house, do you think it's the thing that killed Mom and Jessica?" Sam asks.
"I don't know!" Dean exclaims which made Ana go quiet, as she hates yelling as it doesn't help that Dean is right next to her.
"Well, I mean, has it come back, or has it been here the whole time?" Sam asks.
"Or maybe it's something else entirely. Sam, we don't know yet." Dean says softer than moments ago, as he gave Ana's hand a soft squeeze telling her it's alright.
"Well, those people are in danger, Dean. We have to get 'em out of that house." Sam says.
"And we will." Dean says to his brother, as he continues the soft motion of him rubbing his thumb over Ana's knuckles.
"No, I mean now." Sam says.
"And how you going to do that, huh? You got a story that she's going to believe?" Dean asks his brother.
"Then what are we supposed to do?" Sam asks.
───※ ·❆· ※───
"We just got to chill out, that's all. You know, if this was any other kind of job, what would we do?" Dean asks as Sam sighs. Ana is sitting on the trunk of the Impala while Dean is gassing up the impala.
"We'd try to figure out what we're dealin', with. We'd dig into the history of the house." Sam says as Ana and Dean nod their heads.
"Except this time, we already know what happened." Dean says.
"Yeah, but how much do we know? I mean, how much do you remember?" Sam asks his brother.
"About that night, you mean?" Dean asks as Sam nods his head.
"Yeah." Sam says.
"Not much. I remember the fire...the heat." Dean says as he then pauses for a moment. "And then I carried you out the front door."
"You did?" Sam asks slightly confused.
"Yeah, what, you never knew that?" Dean asks, as Ana plays with her rings on her fingers.
Sam shook his head at what his brother says. "No."
"And, well, you know Dad's story as well as I do. Mom was...was on the ceiling. And whatever put her there was long gone by the time Dad found her." Dean says as Ana nods her head.
"And he never had a theory about what did it?" Sam asks.
"If he did, he kept it to himself. God knows we asked him enough times." Dean says.
"Okay. So, if we're going to figure out what's goin', on now...we have to figure out what happened back then. And see if it's the same thing." Sam says.
"Yeah. We'll talk to Dad's friends, neighbors, people who were there at the time." Dean says
"Does this feel like just another job to you?" Sam asks as Dean says nothing for a moment.
"I'll be back. I got to go to the bathroom." Dean says as he walks away, as Ana gets off the trunk of the impala.
"You want anything?" Ana asks, Sam as she grabs some money from her pocket when they were at the last hunt of the Hook Man, and Ana had hustled those guys at the pool table. "On the house."
"Uh, a water." Sam says to Ana as she nods her head.
"God, you're boring." Ana grumbles underneath her breath as she walks into the gas station to get some snacks and drinks.
Dean turns a corner as he stands next to the bathroom door and takes out his phone. After making sure no one can see him, he dials a number.
"This is John Winchester. If this is an emergency, call my son, Dean at 866-907-3235."
"Dad? I know I've left you messages before. I don't even know if you'll get 'em." Dean starts as he clears his throat. "But I'm with Sam. And we're in Lawrence. And there's somethin', in our old house. I don't know if it's the thing that killed Mom or not, but..." He says as he's barely keeping himself together. "...I don't know what to do." He says as he's starting to cry. "So, whatever you're doin', if you could get here. Please, I need your help, Dad." He hangs up sadly, with tears in his eyes.
After a moment, he puts his phone back into his pocket and wipes his eyes, so that neither Sam and or Ana sees that he was crying. He turns back to body back in the direction of the car. He sees Ana walking out of the gas station with a small bag. "What's that?"
"Nothin'." Ana says as Dean forces a laugh at what she said, which makes Ana look at him as he mentally hits himself of how well she can read him and know that something is wrong. Just like how he can read her, also.
"Annie." Dean says to his girlfriend as she has a soft smile on her face.
"Fine, I got food, you happy." Ana mumbles to Dean who only shook his head at what she said.
"Course you got food, should have known." Dean says to Ana, as she gives him a side-eyed look.
"Fine, none for you." Ana says as she hands Sam his water, and he took it.
"Thanks." Sam says as Ana fake salutes him, and he returns it. Minutes later, they get into the impala as they drive to a repair shop.
───※ ·❆· ※───
"So, you and John Winchester used to own this garage together?" Dean asks, as Ana takes a sip from her soda, as she is standing in the middle of the brothers.
"Yeah, we used to, a long time ago. Matter of fact, it must be uh...twenty years since John disappeared. So, why the cops interested all of a sudden?" The owner asks.
"Oh, we're re-opening some of our unsolved cases, and the Winchester disappearance is one of 'em." Dean says.
"Oh, well, what do you want to know about John?" The owner asks.
'A lot of things'. Ana says in her head.
"Well, whatever, you remember, you know, whatever sticks out in your mind." Dean says.
"Well...he was a stubborn bastard, I remember that." The owner says as he laughs before continuing. "And, uh, whatever, the game, he hated to lose, you know? It's that whole Marine thing." The owner says as brothers and Ana nod their heads. "But, oh, he sure loved Mary, and he doted on those kids."
'That doesn't sound like John at all'. Ana says in her head.
"But that was before the fire?" Ana asks the owner.
"That's right." The owner says.
"He ever talk about that night?" Sam asks.
"No, not at first. I think he was in shock." The owner says.
"Right, but eventually? What did he say about it?" Ana asks.
"Oh, he wasn't thinkin', straight. He said somethin' caused that fire and killed Mary." The owner says as Ana nods her head.
"He ever say what did it?" Dean asks.
"Nothin' did it. It was an accident -- an electric short in the ceiling or walls or somethin'. I begged him to get some help, but..." The owner says.
"But what?" Ana asks.
"Oh, he just got worse and worse." The owner says.
"How?" Dean asks.
"Oh, he started readin', these strange ol' books. He started goin' to see this palm reader in town." The owner says.
"Palm reader? Uh, do you have a name?" Dean asks.
"No." The owner says.
───※ ·❆· ※───
The impala is now parked by a pay phone, where Sam is looking through a phonebook. "Alright, so there are a few psychics and palm readers in town. There's someone named El Divino. There's uh...there's the Mysterious Mister Fortinsky. Uh, Missouri Moseley..."
"Wait, wait. Missouri Moseley?" Dean asks as Ana's eyes go from Sam to Dean.
"What?" Sam asks.
"That's a psychic?" Dean asks.
"Uh, yeah. Yeah, I guess so." Sam says as Deann goes into the backseat of the car and pulls out John's journal.
"In Dad's journal.... here, look at this." Dean says, as he opens to the first page. "First page, first sentence, read that."
"I went to Missouri, and I learned the truth." Sam says reading.
"I always thought he meant the state." Dean says shrugging.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Missouri Moseley is escorting a man out of the house while the brothers and Ana sit on the couch waiting. "Alright, there. Don't you worry 'bout a thing. Your wife is crazy about you." Missouri says as the man thanks her, and she closes the door behind him. "Whew. Poor bastard. His wife is cold-bangin', the gardener."
"Why didn't you tell him?" Ana asks.
"People don't come here for the truth. They come for the good news." Missouri says as Ana has a small smile on her face. The boys stare at Missouri. "Well? Ana, Sam and Dean, come on, already I ain't got all day." Missouri says, as she leaves the three of them, Dean and Sam exchange a confused look and follow her into the next room.
"Well, lemme look at ya." Missouri says as she laughs. "Oh, you boys grew up handsome." She says she points a finger at Dean. "And you were one goofy-lookin' kid, too." Missouri says as Dean glares at Missouri while Sam smirks. "Ana, still as beautiful as always. How is ya, daddy?"
"He's good, I haven't talked to him in a while." Ana says as the brothers turn to her. Missouri smiles as she turns to Sam.
"Sam." Missouri says as she grabs his hand. "Oh, hey...I'm sorry about your girlfriend." Missouri says as the boys are shocked. "And your father -- he missin'?"
"How'd you know all that?" Sam asks.
"Well, you were just thinkin' it just now." Missouri says, as Sam raises his eyebrows, surprised.
"Well, where is he? Is he okay?" Dean asks Missouri.
"I don't know." Missouri says to the eldest Winchester.
"Don't know? Well, you're supposed to be a psychic, right?" Dean asks, as Ana nudges him with a shake of her head.
"Boy, you see me sawin' some bony tramp in half. You think I'm a magician? I may be able to read thoughts and sense energies in a room, but I can't just pull facts out of thin air." Missouri scolds. "Sit, please." Ana and Sam smirk at Dean as the three of them sit down. Ana sits down in the middle of Dean, and Sam. Missouri snaps at Dean. "Boy, you put your foot on my coffee table. I'm a whack you with a spoon!" Missouri scolds.
"I didn't do anything." Dean says as Ana's smirk only grows at Missouri.
"But you were thinkin' about it." Missouri says as Dean raises his eyebrows, as Sam smiles.
"Okay, so, our dad -- when did you first meet him?" Sam asks.
"He came for a reading. A few days after the fire. I just told him what was really out there in the dark. I guess you could say...I drew back the curtains for him."
"What about the fire? Do you know about what killed our mom?" Dean asks.
"A little. Your daddy took me to your house. He was hopin' I could sense the echoes, the fingerprints of this thing." Missouri says.
"And could you?" Dean asks.
"I..." Missouri says as she shook her head as Ana tilts her head a little.
"What was it?" Sam asks.
"I don't know. Oh, but it was evil." Missouri says softly.
"We think something might be at that house, but we don't know what it is." Ana says.
"You think somethin' is back at the house?" Missouri says.
"Definitely." Sam says.
"I don't understand." Missouri says.
"What?" Ana asks.
"I haven't been back inside, but I've been keepin' an eye on the place, and it's been quiet. No sudden deaths, no freak accidents. Why is it actin' up now?" Missouri asks.
"I don't know. But Dad going missing and Jessica dying and now this house all happening at once -- it just feels like something's starting." Sam says, as Ana fiddles with her rings on her fingers.
"That's a comforting thought." Dean says as Ana just keeps her head down.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Ana knocks on the door, and moments later it opens, and Jenny opened the door. "Sam, Dean and Ana. What are you doing here?"
"Hey, Jenny. This is our friend Missouri." Ana says.
"If it's not too much trouble, we were hoping to show her the old house. You know, for old time's sake." Dean says.
"You know, this isn't a good time. I'm kind of busy." Jenny says.
"Listen, Jenny, it's important." Dean says to Jenny as Missouri smacks him on the back of the head. "Ow!"
"Give the poor girl a break, can't you see she's upset?" Missouri says, as she then turns to Jenny. "Forgive this boy, he means well, he's just not the sharpest tool in the shed, but hear me out." Missouri says as Dean looks stunned.
"About what?" Jenny asks.
"About this house." Missouri says.
"What are you talking about?" Jenny asks.
"I think you know what I'm talking about. You think there's something in this house, something that wants to hurt your family. Am I mistaken?" Missouri asks.
"Who are you?" Jenny asks Missouri.
"We're people who can help, who can stop this thing. But you're going to have to trust us, just a little." Missouri says as Jenny looks unsure.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Moments later, Missouri, the boys and Ana are in Sari's bedroom. "If there's a dark energy around here, this room should be the center of it." Missouri says.
"Why?" Sam asks.
"This used to be your nursery, Sam. This is where it all happened." Missouri says as Sam glances at the ceiling, as Ana sits on Sari's bed. Missouri looks around the bedroom, Dean takes out Ana's EMF meter. "That an EMF?"
"Yeah." Dean says.
"Amateur." Missouri says as she passes Dean as Ana smiles a little. Dean glares at Missouri, as he nudges Sam and shows him that the EMF is beeping frantically. "I don't know if you boys should be disappointed or relieved, but this ain't the thing that killed your momma."
"Wait, are you sure?" Ana asks.
"How'd you know?" Sam asks.
"It isn't the same energy I felt the last time I was here. It's somethin' different." Missouri says.
"What is it?" Dean asks.
"Not it." Missouri says as she opens Sari's closet. "Them. There's more than one spirit in this place."
"What are they doing here?" Dean asks.
"They're here because of what happened to your family. You see, all these years ago, real evil came to you. It walked this house. That kind of evil leaves wounds. And sometimes, wounds get infected." Missouri says.
"I don't understand." Sam says.
"This place is a magnet for paranormal energy. It's attached a poltergeist. A nasty one. And it won't rest until Jenny and her babies are dead." Missouri says as Ana's eyes widen a little at hearing that.
"You said there was more than one spirit." Sam says.
"There is. I just can't quite make out the second one." Missouri says.
"Well, one thing's for damn sure -- nobody's dyin' in this house ever again. So, whatever is here, how do we stop it?" Dean asks.
───※ ·❆· ※───
The brothers, Ana and Missouri are sitting around a table, which has different herbs and roots. "So, what is all this stuff, anyway?" Dean asks.
Ana looks up from what she's doing. "Uh, Angelica Root, Van Van oil, crossroad dirt, a few other odds and ends." Ana says, as Missouri looks at Ana impressed.
"How do you know all that, sweetie?" Missouri asks Ana.
"I read a lot and stuff." Ana says as Missouri nods her head with a small smile as she turns to Dean.
"Keep her around, she is useful."
"Oh, believe me I will." Dean says to Missouri as his eyes never left Ana, as he has a cheeky smile on his face at seeing her small smile and blush on her cheeks. "What are we supposed to do with this stuff, anyway?"
"We're going to put them inside the walls, in the north, south, east, and west corners on each floor of the house." Missouri says as Ana nods her head.
"We'll be punchin' holes in the dry wall. Jenny's going to love that." Dean says, semi sarcastically.
"She'll live." Missouri says slyly.
"And this'll destroy the spirits?" Sam asks.
"It should. It should purify the house completely. We'll each take a floor. But we work fast. Once the spirits realize what we're up to, things are going to get bad. Really bad." Ana explains as the boys and Missouri nod their heads at the red head woman.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Missouri is walking Jenny and her kids outside. "Look, I'm not sure I'm comfortable leaving you guys here alone."
"Just take your kids to the movies or somethin' and it'll be over by the time you get back." Missouri says as Jenny is still lightly unsure but leaves with her kids, after Jenny leaves Missouri goes back inside.
Ana goes into one of the rooms with a hammer. She kneels down by the wall and begins using the end of the hammer to hit against the walls. While she is doing this, a plug on the other side of the room takes itself out of the outlet. A lamp begins to move on its own also. The plug snakes its way towards Ana. Ana is chopping a hole in the wall. The lamp crashes to the ground, and Ana turns around to see what the noise was, and the cord wraps itself around her neck. Ana falls to the ground, trying to get the cord off. Eventually she lies weak on the floor, Dean runs upstairs and into the room that Ana is in.
"Ana!" Dean exclaims as he rushes over to Ana and tries to get the cord off, but it won't budge. Instead, Dean kicks a hole in the wall and places the bag of herbs inside. A blinding white light leaves the room. Once the spirit is gone, Dean goes back over to Ana, who is completely wreak. Dean unravels the cord from around Ana's neck and pulls her into a tight hug comforting her of what happened.
───※ ·❆· ※───
A few hours later, Ana, the brothers and Missouri are standing in the extremely messy kitchen. "You sure this is over?" Sam asks, Missouri.
"I'm sure. Why? Why do you ask?" Missouri asks the younger Winchester.
"Never mind." Sam says as he sighs. "It's nothin' I guess."
Moments later Jenny enters the house. "Hello? We're home." She says as she comes into the kitchen and looks around. "What happened?"
"Hi, sorry. Um, we'll pay for all of this." Sam says as Dean looks at his brother confused.
"Don't you worry. Dean's going to clean up this mess." Missouri says as Ana barely had the energy to smile at what Missouri says. "Well, what are you waiting for, boy? Get the mop." She orders as he begins to walk away. "And don't cuss at me!" Dean walks away muttering under his breath.
───※ ·❆· ※───
A little while later, Missouri, Ana and the brothers leave the house. Jenny waves and shuts the door behind them. Ana has been quiet about what happened earlier, as she should have seen it coming and kept her eyes alert, but she failed. She failed a simple mission. She never failed a mission, and now it is eating herself, and making her nervous.
Later that night, the brothers and Ana are sitting in the car as they haven't left the house, Ana has been lost in her thoughts this entire time. Painful memories and flashbacks of her life before Bobby adopted her kept plaguing her mind. There was so much of even Ana's life before Bobby that even Dean doesn't know. Dean doesn't know of the abuse the beatings that Ana went through with her biological father, before she got dropped off like a piece of garbage at Bobby's house.
She even remembers the whole thing and now it played out, she lets out a shaky breath as she covers her mouth with her hand to keep herself from crying. A couple tears roll down her cheeks as she tries to keep herself from crying in the backseat while the two brothers are in the drivers & passenger seat respectively.
"Alright, so tell me again, what are we still doin', here?" Dean asks.
"I don't know. I just...I still have a feeling." Sam says, as Dean sighs.
"Why? Missouri did her whole Zelda Rubenstein thing. The house should be clean, it should be over." Dean says.
"Yeah, well probably. But I just want to make sure, that's all." Sam says.
"Yeah, well, problem is I could be sleeping in a bed right now with Ana." Dean says as he slides down in his seat and closes his eyes.
Sam looks up at Jenny's bedroom window and sees her screaming, just as in his dream. "Dean. Look, Dean!" Sam exclaims as the three of them rush out of the car and towards the house.
"You grab the kids with Annie, and I'll get Jenny." Dean says to Sam and Ana.
In the hallway Dean rushes to Jenny's bedroom door. "Jenny!" Dean yells.
"I can't open the door!" Jenny yells from the other end.
"Stand back!" Dean yells as she moves back, and Dean kicks the door and brings her downstairs.
"No, my kids!" Jenny yells.
"Sam and Ana got them, come on."
While Sam has Richie in his arms, he goes to Sari's bedroom, and sees Ana picking up Sari, who has a death grip on her. Sam goes downstairs, but there was no sign of Ana and or Sari, as Ana had tripped. Ana and Sari scream as Sam got outside with Richie. "Sam, where's Ana?" Dean asks.
"She was right behind me I swear." Sam says as Dean opens the trunk of the Impala and grabs a rifle and an ax, and rushes to the front door and begins chopping away at it. Inside the kitchen Ana is flung into a set of cabinets, as Sari manages to escape, and runs. Ana is pinned against the wall by the invisible force. She can't move any part of her body.
The fire figure makes its way towards Ana. Dean continues chopping down parts of the door. Eventually with the help of Sam also, they make a hole that they are able to step through. They walk into the house looking for Ana.
"Ana? Ana!" Dean says as he finds Ana, as he raises his gun at the fire figure.
"No, don't! Dean!" Sam exclaims to his brother.
"What, why?!" Dean exclaims back to his brother.
"Because I know who it is. I can see her now." Sam says as suddenly the fire vanishes.
Instead, standing in front of them is Mary Winchester, exactly as she was the night she died. Dean's expression softens, as in shock he lowers his gun slowly and slowly steps in front of Ana. Protecting her.
"Mom?" Dean asks softly as Mary steps closer to her oldest son.
"Dean." Mary says as tears forms in Dean's eyes. Mary walks away from Dean and goes to Sam. Dean watches her, never taking his eyes off her. "Sam." Mary says softly as Sam smiles weakly crying. "Mary's smile never fades. "I'm sorry."
"For what?" Sam asks, as Mary looks at him sadly, but doesn't say anything, she walks away from the group then looks up at the ceiling.
"You get out of my house. And let go of the girl." Mary orders as once again she bursts into flames. When she is entirely engulfed, the fire reaches the ceiling and disappears.
The force holding Ana to the wall is released, for the second time that night, Dean brings Ana into his arms comforting her once again. He'd spend the rest of his life comforting her from everything bad and evil. He'd give her all of the loves that her little heart desires.
"Now, it is over." Sam says to Dean who never took his arms away from Ana. He rubs her back reassuring her that everything is okay.
"It's okay, baby. Shhh..." Dean whispers into her ear, as out of habit Dean lifts her up in his arms, as her legs are wrapped around his torso. Like every time that he comforts her like this, he doesn't let go. "It's okay, baby. I'm right here." He whispers again as Ana's soft sobs quiet down. "Yeah, it's over, Sam.." Dean says as he didn't turn around to face his brother when he said that. He was busy comforting Ana.

The next morning, Dean is standing by the car with Jenny, looking through old photos. Ana is sitting in the car, as she's been quiet all morning and all last night. Hasn't said, a word, as she is blocking everything and everyone right now. Even Dean.
"Thanks for these." Dean says to Jenny.
"Don't thank me, they're yours." Jenny says as Dean puts the box of photos in the car. He gives Ana a soft glance, but she looks away when she sees that Dean is looking at her. It makes him wonder, what is bothering her. What is going through her head, that she isn't telling him? He knows that something is wrong, and she's just not telling him. If she doesn't tell him what's wrong, he has Bobby to ask also. Though, he knows of a million questions to ask right now, but he is going to give Ana space, until he is ready to be the worry some boyfriend. Because he will if he has to.
He will pin Ana to the wall just to get her to open up to him. Even if he has to tie her to a chair to get her to talk. Though that is probably taking the extreme level of it, but in his defense, he knows that she can't keep bottling up her emotions and thoughts otherwise, he'd see a side of Ana that he doesn't want to see.
"Don't you boys be strangers." Missouri says as Sam walks to the car.
"We won't." Dean says to Missouri, as the brothers get into the car, and drive away.
───※ ·❆· ※───
The three of them got to a motel, that was a couple towns over from Lawrence, when they got to the motel Sam got out of the car knowing that Dean is going to try to get something out of Ana. Ana grabbed her bag and just before she opened the door she was stopped by Dean. "Annie, stay." Dean says as he looked at her through the rear window. "Get your little butt up here. We need to talk." Without argument, Ana climbs from the backseat to the passenger seat. She knew it would be stupid to try to argue with Dean no matter how hard that she wants to.
While Ana is looking out the window, knowing that she can't lie her way out of this situation and conversation, because if she does Bobby is one call away from scolding Ana for lying to Dean. Out of all the things that the couple has talked about, not once has they talked about this. Nor does Ana want to. She doesn't want to relive the painful memories, flashbacks and talking about her nightmares. She doesn't want Dean seeing and knowing about a little girl who was beaten at the age of two because she forgot to get her father a beer, and the next thing that she knew was that she got one hell of a beating.
"Annie..." Dean starts softly, as he turns his attention back to the road he sighs as this conversation could go multiple different ways, none of which are good. He knows that they have to talk about this eventually and or Dean will be seeing Ana bottling her emotions and thoughts and she will turn crazy. "I know you don't want to talk, but can you please tell me what's wrong?" Dean asks as he reached for Ana's hand, but she moved her hand away from him. He sighed knowing that this wouldn't be easy, if she is being like this. "Please, baby." He says softly to Ana.
The red-haired girl has a tear rolling down her cheek, as she hates how that Dean can read her head. But she can't get mad at him, because she does it to him also. They do it to each other. Ana sighs as more tears slowly start rolling down her cheeks, as she holds her hands on to her lap. "I don't want to talk about it." Ana mumbles to Dean, as for a second he turns his head to face her but turns it back.
"Well, tough Annie. We're going to talk about it either way." Dean says to Ana like he is scolding a kid, which he would if it comes down to it. He would do whatever it takes to get whatever is bothering Ana out of her. He would do anything by any means.
Suddenly, Ana felt the words come out before her brain could process it, as in a sense she doesn't want to talk about what is bothering her, but she knows that she has too eventually. Or God forbid, she will be tied to a chair and being interrogated by Dean. As she knows that's what he would do to her. Not that he has done it to her before, but he has threatened to do it to her. "Well, I don't want to!" Ana exclaims but what was slightly concerning was the crack in her voice.
It made Dean lower his head at hearing the crack in her voice, as it was a sign that she had been crying. He hates seeing her crying, it breaks him. He sighs again as he puts both hands onto the steering wheel, wanting to distract himself from this conversation, but he also knows that they have to talk about whatever is bothering her. "Baby...." Dean mutters to Ana as that's when she looked down onto her lap guilty that she had snapped at Dean. It only increased his worry that he has for Ana. Because she isn't one to snap on him. He didn't take it to heart when she snapped on him, knowing that she didn't mean to do it, and it just came out. "Please..."
Ana took a deep breath to calm herself more, so that she could form actual sentences and without possibly snapping at Dean again, because he didn't deserve her snapping at him. "You remember, how um...that we swore that we wouldn't...um, keep stuff from each other...." Ana says slowly like she would be getting into trouble, like she was admitting a sin that she did.
When she said that, it nearly made Dean slam on the brakes of the impala and turn to her, and then most likely interrogate her. But he didn't. Instead, he kept driving with no set location in mind. That and also not knowing how long it would take until Ana cracked (not the crack that was in her voice, but her admitting what is bothering her). He had a look of understanding on his facial features. He had a hunch it was probably something that she never told him. But it is making him all anxious and nervous of what she could be talking about. On one hand he wants to know what is bothering her, so that he can try to help her, but on the other hand, he doesn't want to know what is bothering her. "Yeah, what about it, baby."
"There are somethings I never told you..." Ana says softly like she is afraid that she will either get scolded or that Dean wouldn't want her anymore, because she lied about her life. Okay, not really lied but never told him certain things of her life. "Before, Dad um, adopted me, let's just say everything wasn't sunshine and roses, happy and jolly. It was messy, really messy..." Ana starts what she was saying before she continued. "It was so dark, that I never knew if I was going to see light and or feel loved, without feeling pain." Ana says as it didn't take Dean seconds to realize what she was referring to. He understood enough now of what some of it was. But the only question that he can think of is: why? why this is bothering her.
For a good couple minutes Dean and Ana sit in a silent impala, as they both don't know what to say. Ana because she just admitted in a sense, more of a filtered version of her life before she got adopted by Bobby (who she refers to Dad, because let's be honest it is better than 'adopted father'. Bobby is her father). Even with the filtered version he still knew what she was talking about, and it pains him so bad that it is starting to scare him shitless. "Can I ask a question, sweetheart?" Dean asks, as Ana slowly turns her head towards Dean, and when he did catch a glimpse of her eyes, it made his heart break even more at the sheer sight. "What caused all of this to happen? What happened?" He adds as he was taking this a completely different approach that his father would have taken. Let's just say John wouldn't be as comforting and taking this as a gentle approach than Dean is currently with Ana.
"It sort of happened randomly out of the blue. I guess it happened, after the whole cord thing at the house..." Ana says softly which makes Dean's eyebrows furrow in slight confusion until it clicked in his head.
"You sure? That's what this is about? All because you didn't see the cord coming and it nearly suffocated you." Dean asks her, as she then lowered her head going silent, which was another thing that Dean knew that it was a silent confirmation of what he needed to know. So that's what this is about? All because she failed the 'mission' of putting the herbs in the wall, and she nearly getting suffocated by a cord. A small fucking cord. "Annie? Is it?"
"In a sense yeah." She says as she fiddles with her rings on her fingers, as Dean moves his free hand and slowly moves it towards her hand, and he softly rubs his thumb over her knuckles a silent comfort as the couple is once again in a silent car for a couple minutes. Them processing what is being said on both ends, and Ana not knowing what else to talk about. Out of all of the serious conversations that her and Dean have talked about in the Impala this definitely tops the list on so many levels, because it is about Ana confessing all of the abuse and neglect that she went through for the first five years of her life. Yes, Bobby knows but even he swore to never to tell Dean.
"What do you mean 'in a sense'. Annie?" Dean asks her as he gives her hand a slight squeeze of reassurance and in a way telling her that it was going to be okay. Even if he knew that it probably wouldn't be okay. He doesn't know what to do but he doesn't know what to say without possibly saying the wrong thing and she snaps at him, but instead of accidentally doing it, she would be mad at him. Which is another thing that scares him. Seeing Ana mad but in his direction, when it is directed at him. Out of all of the girls that he was with during his teenage and early twenties, none of them will even come near Ana. None of them are close in compared to Ana. After a moment, he speaks up again. "Tell me the unfiltered version. Please?" He says essentially begging for her to reveal the truth and nothing but the truth.
"Before I got dropped off at Dad's like a fucking piece of garbage at a dumpster, um my biological father had issues, a whole lot of issues, and one of his favorite games that he would play would be essentially beating me whenever I would do something wrong, even if it was the smallest of things, that a child could do. There is one time I was either two or three years old, and um, he told me to go get him a beer, and when I was gone more than he had wanted and liked. He grabbed his belt from around his pants, got up, and walked towards me, and grabbed me so fast that I never saw it coming, as it all happened so fast that I never saw it coming. Minutes felt like hours, until he was done basically beating me with the belt that it wasn't no more a punishment, it was like full on abuse of a kid. So, when the cord came out of nowhere on my throat, I guess that is what made me quiet as a mouse tonight. I was so scared that I didn't want to say anything to you." Ana explains to Dean as he listened to every little detail that she said. It was like all he could do and or think of something do was just nod his head. No words came to his mind of what to say, then again what are you supposed to say when your girlfriend of two years admit the abuse, and trauma from her life, that even you never knew about. Then again, he can't blame Ana for not telling him, because he doesn't blame her for not telling him what happened.
"So, basically you were scared to tell me." Dean says to Ana as she nods her head without looking up at him. As for the umpteenth time again, there is another round of silence in the car, which is starting to become their least favorite thing to happen. How Dean knew that at least something was wrong, was at the house when he glanced at Ana, and she looked away. She only ever does that when something was and or is, bothering her. He never imagined that this is what was actually bothering her. It does make sense the more that he replays what she said in his head. In a way she was just too scared to tell him what happened. Sometime during Ana's explanation of what happened in her childhood, and mid adult hood, his thumb had stopped caressing her knuckles, knowing that it calms her down. "I know you're going to hate me for saying this, but it's okay babygirl. I get it. You didn't want to tell me, what happened." Dean says to her, as he went back to caressing her knuckle with his thumb.
Ana nods her head at what he says knowing that he isn't wrong, as she never wanted him to find out and hoped that they would move on from this conversation so that she didn't have to talk about it. But here, they are talking about it. She knows that she shouldn't keep her emotions and thoughts bottled up in her head, as it would cause for a completely different Ana to come out, and even she isn't ready for that to happen. So, hopefully that would never happen. There only one time where that actually did happen, and she never wants it to happen again.
"But you can't keep it inside of you forever. It is okay to talk about your emotions every once in a while. I know you don't want to I get it. Because, neither do I but we can only keep our emotions inside of us for so long until we snap and or something happens to us. God forbid if something happens to you Annie, I don't know what I would do. Outside of going to Hell and back just so save your ass, from possibly getting killed because you used your brain for the wrong reasons. I don't want you to snap and something happens to you. Okay? I just don't, babygirl." Dean says as it was Dean's turn to rant about this. About how much and how far that he would go just to protect and save Ana.
Now it was Ana's turn of no words coming out of her mouth. She knows that he is right. He is right on so many levels, but this is what happens when the two of them don't talk about their emotions. Ana doesn't talk about hers, and Dean. Well, Dean doesn't talk about anything that is bothering him. So, the fact he is talking like this is definitely a big step, even for him. It is both making Ana happy that he is finally talking about his emotions, but it is also scaring her shitless, because he never talks about his emotions. She is both happy and slightly concerned. "Because I don't know what I would do without you. I just don't. I love you baby. So, so, much."
"I love you too." Ana says faster before her brain could comprehend what was said, even though it wasn't the first time that they have told each other that they love each other. But it is the first time now with this atmosphere that is going around right now. The tension in the air is slowly letting loose which is a good thing. For Ana's sake it is a good thing.
"For now, on, no more secrets. Nothing. Don't bring them into existence either." Dean says to Ana. He may not know a whole lot of relationships that should last but it doesn't take common and rocket science, that every relationship should have no secrets between the two partners. He just doesn't want anything to happen to Ana. She is his sweetheart, his babygirl, his everything, his world, his slight pain in his ass. But he loves her either way. He wouldn't trade her for anything. Nothing in the world could get him to trade her with. Nothing comes to mind. He just can't bring himself to trade his one true love.
"I promise." Ana says as yes it might be a long shot, knowing at they probably would break that promise in a couple years or so. But at least now, present time, in 2005 no more secrets.
"Okay good." Dean says as he brought Ana's hand that is in his, to his lips and softly kissed her hand. His lips lingered on the back of her hand, which made her smile softly as just to make her smile more, he kissed the back of her hand again.
"Now that we're done with that conversation. Can we get food?"
