{devil's trap}

(i know i don't typically put author's notes in the beginning, but since 'devils trap' is a literal part two of 'salvation' i will put the last scene of salvation in this chapter as a snippet. just so you all know)

John's phone sits on a bench ringing. Meg wanders over and picks it up. She looks at the screen on the phone and smiles to herself and she answers. "You guys really screwed up this time."

"Where is he?" Dean asks angrily.

"You're never going to see your father again." Meg says as Ana looks up at Dean, more so at Meg as her eyebrows raised a little.

───※ ·❆· ※───

Dean hangs up his phone. "They've got Dad." Dean says.

"Meg?" Sam says as Dean just nods. "What did she say?" He asks.

"I just told you, Sammy." Dean says as he is clearly upset. "Okay, okay." He says as he takes the Colt and tucks it in the back of his jeans.

"What are you doing, Dean?" Sam asks his brother.

Dean grabs his duffel bag. "We got to go." Dean says as he turns to Ana slightly calmer. "Grab your stuff, baby." He says as Ana nods her head as she gets up and starts packing her stuff.

"Why? Where are we going?" Sam asks his brother getting back into the conversation.

Dean puts on his jacket. "Because the demon knows we're in Salvation, alright. It knows we got the Colt. It's got Dad -- it's probably coming for us next."

"Good. We've still got three bullets left. Let it come." Sam says as Ana looks at him with a raised eyebrow

"Listen, tough guy, we're not ready, okay? We don't know how many of them are out there. Now we're no good to anybody dead. We're leaving...now!" Dean says as the three of them walk out of the motel room.

───※ ·❆· ※───

The impala has been on the road for a couple minutes and every time that Ana would switch positions to get re-comfortable, she would wince. Because of the pain that she is still in, even if her wounds were disinfected.

"You okay, baby?" Dean asks even if he knows that she is anything far from okay. Despite him being mad, a couple minutes ago, he's calmed down for the sake of Ana.

"Not really, but I'm fine." Ana says softly as Dean nods his head. He knows that she is trying to put a brave face on and say that she isn't in pain, but it is very clear that she is in pain, and it hurts him.

"You sure, baby?" Dean asks as Ana nods her head, but even he doesn't buy the nod. He isn't going to push her to talk or even admit that she is in pain, because she'd lie anyway. She doesn't want him to continue worry about her when they already have enough to worry about right now.

They need to find John first.

───※ ·❆· ※───

"I'm telling you, Dean, we could have taken him." Sam says.

"What we need is a plan. Now, they're probably keeping Dad alive, we just gotta figure out where. They're gonna wanna trade him for the gun." Dean says as Sam just shakes his head as Dean glances over at him. "What?"

"Dean, if that were true, why didn't Meg mention a trade?" Sam says getting upset. "Dad, he might be..."

"Don't!" Dean exclaims to his brother as Ana jumped a little.

"Look, I don't want to believe it any more than you. But if he is, all the more reason to kill this damn thing. We still have the Colt. We can still finish the job.

"Screw the job, Sam!" Dean says.

"Dean, I'm just trying to do what he would want. He would want us to keep going." Sam says.

Dean is getting more and more angry and if Ana is being honest, it is scaring her a little. "Quit talking about him like he is dead already. Listen to me, everything stops until we get him back, you understand me? Everything."

Sam pauses to think over what Dean says. "So, how do we find him?" Sam asks his brother.

"Maybe we go to Lincoln. Start at the warehouse he was taken." Dean suggests as Ana raises her eyebrows at what he said.

"Come on, Dean, you really think these demons are going to leave a trail?" Sam asks.

Dean pauses before he continues. "You're right. We need help."

───※ ·❆· ※───

The Impala drives onto a junkyard, which is Bobby's. Bobby was an old friend of John's. There are junk cars around and hubcaps nailed to the side of the house. A large dog which is a Rottweiler named Rumsfeld.

Inside the house there are books stacked everywhere, it is fairly untidy and cluttered papers on every wall. This is the very house that Anastasia had grew up in. On the bright side the papers on the walls made the walls not look bear with nothing on them.

Bobby picks up two round silver flasks with crosses on them and hands one to Dean. Ana is standing next to Dean, as said Dean has his other hand interlocked with Ana's. Sam is sitting at a cluttered desk reading a very large book. "Here you go." Bobby says as he hands Dean the flask that has the holy water in it.

"What is this --"

"That my friend is holy water?" Ana says to her boyfriend.

Bobby holds up the other flask. "This is whiskey." Bobby says as he takes a swig of the flask with the whiskey and hands it to Dean who also takes a drink, then he hands it to Ana who also takes a drink of the alcohol.

"Bobby, thanks. Thanks for everything. To tell you the truth, I wasn't sure we should come." Dean says as Ana takes a swig of the whiskey flask.

"Nonsense. Your Daddy needs help." Bobby says.

"Well, yeah, but last time we saw you, I mean, you did threaten to blast him full of buckshot. Cocked the shotgun and everything." Dean says as Bobby and Ana nod their heads.

"Yeah, well, what can I say? John just has that effect on people." Bobby says as Ana nods her head again, this time at what her dad said.

"Yeah, I guess he does." Dean says.

"None of that matters now. All that matters is that you get him back." Bobby says, as Ana takes another swig of the whiskey flask.

"Bobby, this book... I've never seen anything like it." Sam says reading the big book.

Bobby comes over to Sam and sits on the corner of the desk. "Key of Soloman? It's the real deal, alright."

"And these, uh, these protective circles. They really work?" Sam asks.

"Yeah, they work, you get a demon in one of them, they're trapped. Powerless. It's like a Satanic roach motel." Ana says as Dena looks at her amazed, as he moves his hand to her side, holding her close.

"Course you'd know that. Go figure."

"She has books about it in her room." Bobby says as Ana nods her head.

"What? I have no life, more like I had no life." Ana says as Dean kissed her head.

"I'll tell you three something else too. This is some serious crap you guys' stepped in." Bobby says.

"Oh, yeah? How's that?" Sam asks.

"Normal year, I hear of, say three demonic possessions. Maybe four, tops." Bobby says.

"Yeah?" Dean says.

"This year I hear of 27 so far. You get what I'm saying? More and more demons are walking among us -- a lot more." Bobby says.

"Do you know why?" Ana asks as she takes a sip of the whiskey flask.

"No, but I know it's something big. The storms, and you guys, your Daddy -- you four are smack in the middle of it." Bobby says as Rumsfeld starts barking outside. "Rumsfeld." Bobby says as he goes over to the window as the dog stops barking with a whine.

"What is it?" Ana asks as she goes to her dad. The father and daughter look out the window and sees the chain hanging broken and the dog nowhere in sight.

"Something's wrong." Bobby says as just then Meg kicks the door and saunters in. Dean slips the holy water flask out of his pocket.

"No more crap, okay?" Meg says as Dean comes at her, unscrewing the flask, but Meg hits him and sends him flying into a stack of books, and is knocked out. "I want the Colt, Sam -- the real Colt -- right now."

Sam, Ana and Bobby are slowly moving across the room and Meg is following them. "We don't have it on us. We buried it." Ana says as it was the first lie that came to her mind.

"Didn't I say, 'no more crap'. I swear -- after everything I heard about you Winchesters, and the redhead, I got to tell you, I'm a little underwhelmed. First Johnny tries to pawn off a fake gun and then leaves the real gun with you three chuckleheads. Lackluster. I mean, did you really think I wouldn't find you?"

Dean steps behind Ana. "Actually, we were counting on it." Meg turns to look at him. Dean stares at her and then looks up at the ceiling. Meg also looks up and sees a protective symbol etched there.

"Gotcha, bitch." Ana sneers to the demon in front of her.

───※ ·❆· ※───

Meg is tied to a chair in the middle of the floor. Dean, Ana and Sam are watching her. "You know, if you wanted to tie me up, all you had to do was ask."

Moments later Bobby comes in with a very large canister of salt. "I salted the door and windows. If there are any demons out there -- they ain't getting in." Bobby says as Dean nods and stands up, moving around Ana to stand in front of Meg.

"Where's our father, Meg?" Dean asks as Sam is standing protectively in front of Ana, not knowing what is going to happen, and or wanting anything to happen to Ana.

"You didn't ask very nicely." Meg says with a smirk on her face.

"Where's their father, you bitch?" Ana says, as she walks in front of Sam, walking towards Dean. "Where is he?"

"Jeez. You kiss your mother with that mouth? Oh wait, I forgot, you don't." Meg taunts, as Ana holds everything inside of her not to kill Meg, but everything happened so fast.

Ana lunged at Meg, putting her hands on the chair arms. "You think this is a fucking game? Where is he?! What did you do to him?" Ana asks Meg as Dean doesn't stop her, if they weren't in this situation, he'd have a smirk on his face ats seeing Ana this mad.

"He died screaming. I killed him myself." Meg taunts as Dean looks at her with hate, then slaps her across the face. "That's kind of a turn on -- you hitting a girl."

"You're no girl." Dean sneers to Meg as Bobby stands up and moves into the next room.

"Dean." Bobby says as Dean follows and Sam moves up to him.

"You, okay?" Sam asks his brother.

"She's lying. He's not dead." Dean says.

"Dean, you got to be careful with her. Don't hurt her." Bobby says.

"Why?" Dean asks, as Ana moves next to Dean.

"Because she really is a girl. that's why." Bobby says as Ana gives her dad a 'duh' look. "Don't give me that look, Ana. I know that she is."

"I didn't say anything." Ana grumbled.

"She's possessed. That's a human possessed by a demon. Can't you tell?" Bobby says to them.

"Are you trying to tell me that there's an innocent girl trapped somewhere in there?" Dean asks as Bobby just nods his head as Dean turns to look at Meg, who is staring back at him. "Wait, that's actually good news."

───※ ·❆· ※───

Ana is looking through a book for an exorcism ritual. Ana looks at Dean -- who looks back at Ana -- and the two of them move over to Meg. "Are you gonna read me a story?" Meg taunts, as Ana's eye twitches momentarily as she is barely holding back her rage and not lunging at Meg and killing her, herself.

"Something like that. Hit it, Annie." Dean says as Ana clears her throat before starting.

"Regna terrae, cantate deo, psallite domino..." Ana starts speaking in Latin.

"An exorcism? Are you serious?" Meg asks Dean.

"Oh, we're going for it, baby -- head spinning, projectile vomiting, the whole nine yards." Dean says as Meg then flinches in pain. Ana looks at Dean, as Meg looks over her shoulder at Ana.

"I'm gonna kill you." Meg sneers at Ana as she turns back to Dean. "I'm gonna rip the bones from your body."

"No, you're gonna burn in hell. Unless you tell me and Sam where our dad is." Dean says as Meg just smiles at him. "Well, at least you'll get a nice tan." He says as he glances up at Ana.

"Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus, omnis satanica potestas, omnis incuriso infernalis adversarii, omnis legio, omnis congregatio et secta diabolica...." Ana reads the exorcism as Meg is shaking and obviously in pain while Ana reads the exorcism ritual. Meg finally gasps in pain and Ana stops momentarily.

"He begged for his life with tears in his eyes. He begged to see his sons one last time. That's when I slit his throat." Meg says as Ana starts reading the ritual again as Dean leans down to Meg.

"Ergo..." Ana continues.

"For your sake, I hope you're lying. Cause if it's true, I swear to God, I will march into hell myself, and I will slaughter each and every one of you evil sons of bitches, so help me God!"

"Perditionis venenum propinare. Vade, satana, inventor et magister omnis fallaciae." Ana says as there is wind that blows into the room. "Hostis humanae salutis. Humiliare sub potenti manu dei. Contremisce et effuge. Invocato a nobis sancto et terribile nomine. Quem inferi tremunt..." Ana continues.

Meg starts to show signs of being in pain again. "Where is he?" Dean asks.

"You just won't take 'dead' for an answer, will you?" Meg taunts.

"Where is he?!" Dean exclaims.

"Dead!"

"No, he's not! He's not dead! He can't be!" Dean says as he is obviously getting very upset and angry. Ana is looking at him with concern. "What are you looking at? Keep reading."

"Ab insidis, diaboli, libera nos, domine. Ut ecclesiam tuam secura tibi facias, libertate sevire, te rogamus, audi nos." Ana says as the chair starts to slide around the circle. "Ut inimicos sanctae ecclesiae humiliare digneris, to rogamus audi." Ana says.

"He will be!" Meg exclaims.

"Wait! What?" Dean asks.

"He's not dead. But he will be after what we do to him." Meg says.

"How do we know you're telling the truth?" Meg asks.

"You don't." Meg says.

"Ana!"

"A building! Okay? A building in Jefferson City."

"Missouri? Where, where? An address!"

"I don't know." Meg says.

"And the demon -- the one we're looking for -- where is it?" Ana asks Meg.

"I don't know! I swear! That's everything. That's all I know." Meg says, as Dean looks at Ana.

"Finish it." Dean says to Ana.

"What? I told you the truth!"

"I don't care." Dean seethes to Meg.

"You son of a bitch, you promised." Meg says.

"I lied!! Ana?" Dean says as Ana doesn't say anything, and Dean looks at her. "Ana! Read." Dean says as he walks by Ana.

"Maybe we can still use her. Find out where the demon is." Ana says quietly to Dean.

"She doesn't know." Dean says to Ana.

"She lied." Ana says.

"Ana, there's an innocent girl trapped somewhere in there. We've got to help her." Dean says to Ana.

Bobby comes up to the couple. "You're gonna kill her."

"What?" Dean asks.

"You said she fell from a building. That girl's body is broke. The only thing keeping her alive is that demon inside. You exorcise it -- that girl is going to die." Bobby says.

"Listen, to me, we're not going to leave her like that." Dena says.

"She's a human being." Bobby says.

"And we're gonna put her out of her misery. Ana, finish it." Dean says as Ana looks at Dean and Bobby, not sure what's the right thing to do. Ana looks over at Meg. "Finish it." Dean says again to Ana.

She nods her head as she takes a breath and keeps going. "Domincos sanctae ecclesiae, terogamus audi nos, terribilis deus do sanctuario suo deus israhel. Ipse tribuite virtutem et fortitudinem plebi suae, benedictus deus, gloria patri..." Ana contines as Meg throws her head back and screams. The demon leaves through her mouth in a black cloud and spreads out in the protective circle in the ceiling before disappearing.

Meg leans forward and blood starts to drip from her mouth. The men and Ana stand there looking at her, not really sure it's over. Meg then slowly lifts her head.

"She's still alive." Dean says as he turns to Bobby. "Call 911." He says as he turns to Ana. 'Get some water and blankets."

Bobby and Ana rush off, as Dean and Sam untie Meg. "Thank you." Meg whispers.

"Shh, shh. Just take it easy, alright?" Sam says.

"Come on. Let's get her down." Dean says as they lift Meg from the chair. There is the sound of bones crunching and Meg screams in pain. The brothers lower her to the floor.

"Sorry, sorry. I got you. I got you. It's okay. It's okay." Sam says.

"A year." Meg says very strained.

"What?" Sam asks.

"It's been a year." Meg says/

"Shh, just take it easy." Sam says.

"I've been awake for some of it. I couldn't move my own body. The things I did -- it's a nightmare." Meg says.

"Was it telling us the truth about our dad?" Dean asks the blonde.

"Dean." Sam says.

"We need to know." Dean says.

"Yes. But it wants... you know ... that ... they want you to come for him." Meg says.

"If Dad's still alive, none of that matters." Dean says.

Bobby and Ana then come in with a blanket and a glass of water. Ana hands the glass to Dean while he and Sam cover her. Dean holds her head up, so she can drink.

"Where is the demon we're looking for?" Sam asks.

"Not there. Other ones. Awful ones." Meg says.

"Where are they keeping our dad?" Dean asks.

"By the river. Sunrise." Meg says barely alive.

"Sunrise? What does that mean? What does that mean?" Ana asks but Meg was already dead, when Ana had asked that.

───※ ·❆· ※───

"You three better hurry up and beat it. Before the paramedics get here." Bobby says as Ana stands in between the brothers.

"What are you gonna tell them?" Dean asks.

"You think you guys invented lying to the cops? I'll figure something out." Bobby says as he hands the Key of Solomon book to Sam. "Here take this. You might need it."

"Thanks." Sam says.

"Thanks...for everything, dad. Be careful, alright?" Ana says as Bobby nods his head at his daughter.

"You just go find John, and when you do, you bring him around, would you? I won't even try to shoot him this time." Bobby says as he brings Ana in for a quick hug, moments later the father and daughter break the hug.

"Don't get my daughter killed, Dean. Or it will be the last thing, you will ever do."

"Yes sir." Dean says as the three of them leave.

───※ ·❆· ※───

The Impala is parked by some train tracks. Sam is looking through the Key of Solomon book on the roof of the car. He is spinning a marker in his hand. Dean is at the back of the car, loading up the guns and putting them in his duffel bag.

Ana takes a deep breath as she wants to say something, but she doesn't want to say the wrong thing and the next thing that she knows is that Dean snapped at her. She knows that he is thinking and focusing but it makes her worried a little. She could also tell that he is just barely calmer, just for the sole reason because Ana is in front of him. Whatever mood that he is in, if Ana is in front of him, he is calmer, whether that is just barely or whatever.

"You, okay?" Ana says just loud enough for Dean to hear her, as she knows that he isn't okay. It wouldn't take rocket science to know that he is most definitely not okay. But there is a fifty-fifty shot of asking. Dean could tell just from how Ana said it, and that it was only loud enough so that he could tell that she was worried about him. "From the words of a guy I know. Anything going on in that head of yours?" She asks as she lightly poked him just to see if she is going to get a reaction out of him.

He looked at her for a couple of seconds, knowing what she is trying to get him to do, but then he looked back down as he put the gun in the duffel bag. She could tell that he was thinking, as her eyes never left his. This was the only moment, where Dean wished that she looked anywhere but at him. He'd typically have some sort of smile on his face when she looked at him, but right now that is the last thing that he wants. It was like he wanted to either hug her and or cry on her shoulder, but he kept it in. Ana knows that when Dean looks like he wants to cry on her shoulder that it is beyond bad. Because he isn't the type of person to want to cry on her shoulder. If anything, it is Ana, the one who is crying on his shoulder. "Just getting ready, baby." He says barely audible, but it was still loud enough for her to hear. She wanted to say something, but she nodded her head, just agreeing with what he said.

When Dean was done with the last gun, Ana didn't hold back and she brought Dean into a hug, which he didn't even bother pulling away, knowing that is exactly what he needed. No matter what is happening in the crazy world of his life, or whatever, he will never turn down, Ana's hugs. He just couldn't, no matter what. Dean hugs her just as tight as she is doing to him, but only just a little tighter. It is either a good or bad thing that she can read him, like he can read her. He hasn't figured it out if it is a good thing or not.

"He's gonna be fine, Dean." Sam says to his brother which made the couple break from their hug, which neither of them wanted to do. Mainly Dean, he didn't want to let go of Ana. Dean doesn't answer as Sam flips to another page oof the book. He sees a symbol and picks up the book to walk to the open trunk lid. He rubs off the dirt and starts to draw on the trunk.

"Dude, what are you drawing on my car!" Dean exclaims to his brother.

"It's called a Devil's trap. Demons can't get through it or inside it." Sam says, as Dean and Ana's hands are interlocked with each other. He still wanted her to be close to him.

"So?"

Sam moves around to the other end of the trunk as Dean tries to wipe the marker off. "It basically turns the trunk into a lockbox."

"So?" Dean asks again.

"So, we have a place to hide the Colt while we go get dad." Sam says.

"What are you talking about? We're bringing the Colt with us." Dean says.

"We can't, Dean. We've only got three bullets left. We can't just use them on any demon, we've got to use them on the demon." Sam says trying to reason with his brother.

"No, we have to save Dad, Sam, okay? We're gonna need all the help we can get." Dean says.

"Dean, you know how pissed Dad would be if we used all the bullets? Dean, he wouldn't want us to bring the gun." Sam says as Ana rolls her eyes at the argument between the brothers.

"I don't care, Sam. I don't care what Dad wants, okay? And since when do you care what Dad wants?" Dean asks his brother.

"We want to kill this demon. You used to want that, too. Hell, I mean, you're the one who came and got me at school!" Sam says as Dean scoffs. "You're the one who dragged me back into this, Dean. I'm just trying to finish it!"

"Well, you and Dad are a lot more alike than I thought, you know that. You both can't wait to sacrifice yourself for this thing. But you know what? I'm gonna be the one to bury you. You're selfish, you know that? You don't care about anything but revenge." Dean says.

"That's not true, Dean." Sam says as Dean scoffs. "I want Dad back. But they are expecting us to bring this gun. They get the gun; they will kill us all. That Colt is our only leverage, and you know it, Dean. We cannot bring that gun. We can't."

"Fine." Dean says.

"I'm serious, Dean." Sam says.

"I said fine, Sam." Dean says as he takes the Colt out of his jacket pocket and holds it up to show Sam before putting it in the trunk.

───※ ·❆· ※───

The three of them are walking by the river. They step up beside some trees and Dean stops. "I think this is what Meg meant by Sunrise." Dean says.

Ana looks over and sees an apartment building with a sign out front that says, 'sunrise apartments'. "That's pretty smart. I mean, if these demons are possessing people, they can possess almost anybody inside."

"Yeah, and make anybody attack us." Sam says.

"And so, we can't kill them - a building full of human shields." Dean says.

"They probably know exactly what we look like, too. And they could look like anybody." Sam says.

"This is a whole new level of fucking shit this suck." Ana says.

"Tell me about it." Sam says.

"Alright, so how the hell are we going to get in." Ana says.

Dean looks over at the building for a minute. "Pull the fire alarm, get out all the civilians." Dean says.

"Okay, but then the city responds in, what, seven minutes?" Sam says as Ana nods her head.

"Yeah, exactly seven minutes." Ana says.

"Annie, you pull the fire alarm, then me and Sam are going to get in as firefighters, you stay out here until we get Dad. Whatever happens, you stay out here." Dean says as Ana nods her head. Before she leaves, he kisses her head.

───※ ·❆· ※───

Ana walks in the front door and goes to a fire alarm on the wall. Just as she's about to pull the fire alarm, a man comes walking down the hallway. Ana moves to the stairs like she's going up them, but when the man leaves through the front door he quickly goes and pulls the alarm. Ana then leaves the building.

───※ ·❆· ※───

People are leaving and firemen are coming in. Dean comes up to one of the firemen. "Hey, what's happening? Is it a fire?" Dean asks.

"We're figuring that out right now, sir. Just stay back." The firemen says as he moves Dean away.

"Well, I've got a Yorkie upstairs and he pees when he's nervous..." Dean says.

"Sir, you have to stay back." The firemen says as Sam moves behind them to the fire truck. He finds a compartment and picks the lock.

───※ ·❆· ※───

Dean and Sam come down the hallway dressed in full fireman gear - helmets, breathing apparatus. Dean is using Ana's EMF to check the doors of the apartments. "I always wanted to be a fireman when I grew up."

"You never told me that." Sam says as just then the EMF starts reading high.

Inside the apartment. The woman is sitting with head down. There is banging on the door, and she looks up - her eyes are completely black. She and the man go over to the door to look through the peep hole. "This is the fire department. We need you to evacuate."

The man steps behind the door and nods for the woman to open it. She unlocks the door, and the boys shove it open. The woman is thrown backward as Dean and Sam come through. The brothers spray the couple with water from their tanks and it burns them - holy water. Dean punches the man and shoves him into a closet. "Come on!"

Sam grabs the woman off the table and shoves her in as well. Dean leans against the door, and it lurches as the demons inside try to get out. "Hurry up!" Sam grans a canister of salt from the duffel bag and runs a line around the closet door. As soon as he finishes it the pounding stops. The boys take off the fireman gear and move to the bedroom door. They slowly open it and see John on the bed. Dean goes over to his father.

"Dad?" Dean asks as he leans down and listens to his father's heartbeat. "He's still breathing." Sam looks relieved that his father is alive, Dean starts shaking John. "Dad, wake up. Dad!"

Dean takes out a knife and is about to cut the restraints around John's wrists. "Wait. Wait."

"What?" Dean asks.

"He could be possessed for all we know." Sam says.

"What, are you nuts?" Dean asks.

"Dean we need to be sure." Sam says as he takes a flask of holy water out of the duffel bag and sprinkles it on John. It has no effect. John moans and starts to wake up.

"Sam? Why are you splashing water on me?" John asks.

"Dad, are you okay?" Dean asks.

"They've been drugging me. Where's the Colt?" John asks.

"Don't worry, Dad, it's safe." Sam says as Dean cuts him free.

"Good boys. Good boys." John says.

Dean and Sam are carrying John out the bedroom. The front door suddenly bursts open, and the man and fireman come in "Go! Go!"

"Back! Back!"

The brothers and John goo back into the bedroom and close the door locking it. An axe suddenly comes through the door.

Sam runs a line of salt at a bedroom door. Dean and John are already out the fire escape. "Sam, let's go!"

Sam tosses Dean the duffel bag and goes through the window out onto the fire escape. Sam runs the salt along the windowsill. Dean helps John onto the street and Sam moves ahead of them. Sam is suddenly attacked by the man who was with Meg in Lincoln. He pins Sam down on the street and starts beating him to death. Ana grabs something from the duffel bag and goes to Sam's aid.

Ana runs over and kicks the man in the face, but it has no effect. Ana is suddenly thrown onto a parked car, shattering the windshield, and the man goes back to beating Sam. Suddenly there is a gunshot, and the man gets a bullet through the head. He falls off of Sam and is dead. Ana is standing with the Colt. She puts it away and comes over to Sam.

Ana gets to Sam onto his feet, and they look at the dead man that is in the middle of the road. The demon is now dead and so is the man it was possessing. Ana just killed someone, even if he was possessed by a demon. But she wasn't going to continue watching the guy beating the shit out of Sam either.

"Come on. We got to get out of here." Ana says to Sam as they go over to John and Dean and then the three of them leave the area in a hurry.

───※ ·❆· ※───

The impala is parked outside a cabin in the woods. Sam is pouring salt along the windowsill. His face is a mess - bruised, bloody and swollen. Ana has been in her own thoughts since they left in a hurry from the area. Her brain is still trying to wrap around her killing someone literally. That never happened before and quite frankly she doesn't know what to think of it. If she is being honest, she doesn't know what to think of it. She knows that she had to do something because the guy kept beating the shit out of Sam. She also knows that if she was in his shoes, that he would do the same to her. He'd protect her too. She is also ninety-nine percent sure that the brothers have a mental rule: keep her safe. Not that she is complaining by that rule, she actually likes it if she is being honest.

"How is he?" Sam asks his brother as Dean had come into the room.

"He just needed a little rest, that's all. How are you?" Dean asks as he makes his way towards Ana and kisses her head.

"I'll survive." Sam says as Dean pulls Ana onto his lap, as her head is now on his chest. He uses his right hand to move up and down her back, knowing that it's been a hectic day today, which is almost an understatement. "You don't think we were followed here, do you?" Sam adds.

Dean continues to rub Ana's back as he looks at his brother. "I don't know. I don't think so. I mean, we couldn't have found a more out-of-the-way place to hold up." Dean says to his brother as he presses a kiss on Ana's head.

"Yeah." Sam says to his brother with a small nod of his head at what Dean said. "Hey, thanks for saving my life back there, Ana." Sam says to Ana as she nods her head.

"So, I guess you're glad that Dean brought the Colt, huh?" Ana says to Sam, as moments later John comes into the room.

"You did good." John says as Ana lifts up her head not knowing what to say. Is he actually talking to her for once, and not just ignoring her.

"You're not mad?" Ana asks John, as he looks at her.

"For what?" John asks the redhead.

"For using a bullet." Ana says.

"Mad? I'm proud of you. You know, Dean, Sam and I we can get pretty obsessed. But you - you watch out for the brothers, you always have. Especially Dean." John says as Ana raises her eyebrows at what he was saying. This doesn't sound like John at all.

At first Ana couldn't think of anything to say, because of how confused she is, but she managed to get a 'thanks' out. "Thanks." Ana says confused. "Suddenly the wind picked up suddenly and the lights start to flicker. "It found us. It's here." Ana says to Dean.

"The demon?" Sam asks Ana.

"Sam line the salt in front of every window and every door." John says.

"Ana already did that when we got here." Sam says as Ana nods her head.

"Well, check it again, okay?" John says as Ana nods her head as she gets up off Dean and leaves the room.

"Dean, you got the gun?" John asks Dean.

"Yeah." Dean says.

"Give it to me." John says.

Dean takes the Colt out of his jeans. "Dad, Sam tried to shoot the demon in Salvation. It disappeared."

"This is me. I won't miss. Now, the gun, hurry." John says as Dean hesitates and looks down at the gun. "Son, please." Dean starts to back up a few steps. "Give me the gun. What are you doing, Dean."

"He'd be furious." Dean says.

"What?"

"That Ana wasted a bullet. He wouldn't be proud of her; he'd tear her a new one." Dean says as John just looks at him as Dean raises the gun pointing it at him and cocking it. "You're not my dad." Dean has the gun pointed at John, as Sam's eyes widened.

"Dean it's me." John says.

"I know my Dad better than anyone, and you ain't him." Dean says.

"What the hell's gotten into you?" John asks Dean.

"I could ask you the same thing. Stay back." Dean says as Ana comes into the room and is shocked to see Dean pointing the gun at John.

"Dean? What the hell's going on?" Ana asks.

"Your boyfriend's lost his mind." John says.

"He's not Dad." Dean says.

"What, are you talking about?" Ana asks her boyfriend. She knows that Dean makes sometimes crazy and stupid decisions, but this probably tops the list. Then again, she is dating crazy.

"I think he's possessed. I think he's been possessed since me and Sam rescued him." Dean says as Ana's eyes widened.

"Don't listen to him, Ana." John says as Ana turns to look at him next. "What?"

"You never called me Ana." Ana says which was the truth. Never in her entire time of knowing John, he not once called her 'Ana', it was always Anastasia. Or Singer. But never, Ana.

"You know what, I don't have time for this. Sam, you wanna kill this demon, you gotta trust me." John says, as Sam looks back and forth between his father and brother. Dean glances at him but doesn't say anything to convince him. Ana automatically went behind Dean. "Sam?"

Sam looks back and forth. "No. No." Sam moves over to stand next to Ana who is at Dean's side.

John looks at the redhead and his youngest son. "Fine. You three so sure, go ahead. Shoot me." John looks down and waits as Dean hold the gun on him but can't pull the trigger. "I thought so." John says as he looks back up and his eyes are yellow. Sam and Ana both lunge at John but they are both thrown against the wall, pinned there. So, is Dean and he drops the Colt. John picks it up. "What a pain in the ass this thing's been."

"It's you, aren't it? We've been looking for you for a long time." Ana says as she gave up trying to fight being pinned to the wall.

"Well, you found me." John says.

"But the holy water?" Sam asks.

"You think something like that works on something like me?" John asks as Sam tries to fight the force that has him pinned to the wall but fails.

"I'm gonna kill you!" Sam exclaims.

"Oh, that'd be a neat trick." John says as he puts the gun down on a table. "Here, make the gun float to you there, psychic boy." John says as Sam looks at the gun, but nothing happens. "Well, this is fun." John says as he walks over to the window beside Dean. "I could've killed you a hundred times today, but this...this is worth the wait." Dean struggles but is still pinned to the wall, as John looks at him. "Your Dad -- he's in here with me. Trapped inside his own meat suit. He says 'hi' by the way. He's gonna tear you apart. He's gonna taste the iron in your blood."

"Let him, go, or I swear to God--"

"What? What are you and God gonna do? You see, as far as I'm concerned, this is justice." John says as he comes over to Dean. "You know that little exorcism of yours? That was my daughter."

"Who, Meg?" Ana asks.

"The one in the alley? That was my boy. You understand."

"You've got to be kidding me." Dean says.

"What? You're the only one that can have a family? You destroyed my children. How would you feel if I killed your family?" John asks as he turns his head to Ana, before looking back at Dean. "Two wrongs don't make a right."

"You son of a bitch." Dean says.

"I wanna know why. Why'd you do it?" Sam asks.

"You mean why did I kill mommy and pretty, little Jess?" John asks.

"Yeah." Sam says

John turns back to Dean. "You know, I never told you this, but Sam was going to ask her to marry him." John says as he turns back to Sam. "Been shopping for rings and everything. You want to know why? Because they got in the way."

"In the way of what?" Sam asks, as Ana is just watching this happen, as she is mainly looking at Dean. She stopped trying to fight as she is pinned to the wall, for the second time. The first time was during the case of back at the old house with Missouri Moseley.

"My plans for you, Sammy. You...and all the children like you." John says.

"Listen, you mind just getting this over with, huh? Cause, I really can't stand the monologuing." Dean sarcastically says which earned an eyeroll from Ana.

John walks towards him. "Funny, but that's all part of your M.O., isn't it? Masks all that nasty pain, masks the truth."

"Oh, yeah? What's that?" Dean asks.

"You know, you fight, and you fight for this family, but the truth is they don't need you. Not like you need them. Sam - he's clearly John's favorite. Even when they fight, it's more concern than he's over shown you." John says.

"I bet you're real proud of your kids, too, huh? Oh wait, I forgot. I wasted 'em." Dean says, as he just smiles as John looks at Dean. He steps back and puts his head down. When he looks back up, Dean yells in pain.

"Dean!" Ana yells as she starts to struggle against the force pining her.

"No!" Sam yells as like Ana he starts to struggle.

"Dad! Dad, don't you let it kill me!" Dean yells as John looks at him and smiles. Dean starts screaming in pain.

"Dean!" Ana yells again as she continues to struggle. "Let him go, you son of a bitch!"

"Oh, you kiss your mother with that mouth. Oh, wait, she's dead. So, I guess not." John says as Ana has a cold stare on her face as she continues to struggle. The blood is flowing out of Dean, as Ana struggles as hard as she can to break free.

"Let him go you, bitch." Ana sneers at John, as there is blood coming out of Dean's mouth, then he passes out. "DEAN!!" Ana practically screams, as when she was let go of the force she rushed towards Dean.

Sam dive and grabs the gun off the table. John turns to him, his eyes are yellow once again, and Sam aims the gun at him. "You kill me, you kill Daddy." John says.

"I know." Sam says as he fires the gun shooting John in the leg. He falls down and so does Dean. Ana caught Dean before he could hurt himself.

"Hey, it's okay." Ana says as her arms were around Dean. He rested his head on Ana's shoulder, as when he whimpered in pain it, broke Ana. She hated every part of her seeing Dean like this.

"Where's Dad?" Dean asks.

"He's right here." Sam says.

"Go check on him." Dean says, as Sam gets up and goes to check on John. He's lying motionless on the floor. The mix of Dean's soft whimpers and Ana's quiet sobs is enough of breaking both of their hearts. Ana's heart breaking at hearing Dean's whimpers, and Dean's heart breaking at hearing her quiet sobs. Despite there being blood on Ana's lips she kissed Dean's head as she was only hugging him tighter, afraid that if she were to let go of Dean, that the worse could happen. God forbid if the worst happened, she wouldn't forgive herself. She couldn't.

"Dad? Dad?"

John looks up at his youngest son. "Sammy! It's still alive. It's inside me, I can feel it. You shoot me. You shoot me! You shoot me in the heart, son!" John says as Sam aims the gun at John. "Do it now!"

"Sam, don't you do it. Don't you do it." Dean says.

"You've gotta hurry! I can't hold onto it much longer! You shoot me, son! Shoot me! Son, I'm begging you! We can end this here and now! Sammy!"

"Sam, no." Dean says.

"You do this! Sammy!! Sam..." The demon suddenly leaves John's mouth in a black cloud, it then disappears through the floor. John looks at Sam accusingly.

Sam is driving with John by his side. Dean is in the backseat, with Ana next to him. John gasps in pain, Dean is slumped in the backseat. "Look, just hold on. The hospital's only ten minutes away."

"Look, I'm surprised at you, Sammy. Why didn't you kill it? I thought we saw eye-to-eye on this. Killing this demon comes first -- before me, before anything." John says as Sam looks in the rearview mirror at Dean and Ana.

"No, sir. Not before everything. Loo, we've still got the Colt. We still have the one bullet left. We just have to start over, alright? I mean, we already found the demon..." Sam says but before he could finish an eighteen-wheeler suddenly slams into the passenger side of the Impala at full speed, driving it sideways in front of it.

The driver of the semi is sitting behind the wheel. His eyes are black. Dean, Sam, Ana and John are all unconscious in the car - blood all over them. Ana's head is on Dean shoulder, bloody, as from the looks of it, she has a huge gash on her head with blood coming out it. Her hand that was in Dean's went limp.
