{all hell breaks loose - part two}
It is daytime outside, as seen through the windows, as Dean is standing near, Sam's dead body. Ana arrives, now holding a bucket of fried chicken. "Baby? I brought this back."
Dean looks up before he looked down, denying the fried chicken. "No, thanks, baby. I'm fine."
"You should eat something." Ana says to him, as Dean didn't give her a single glance.
"I said I'm fine." Dean repeats again as he lightly snapped on her, as he takes a swig of the bottle of whiskey.
"Maybe we should bury Sam? You know gravestone, the whole nine yards." Ana says to him.
"No." Dean says flatly as Ana sighs.
"Dean..." Ana says softer.
"Would you cut me some slack?" Dean asked her, as Ana took a breath.
"I just don't think you should be alone, that's all. I gotta admit, I could use your help." Ana says as Dean snorts as she continues. "Something big is going down -- end-of-the world big." Ana says.
"Well, then let it end!" Dean yells at her, which made her flinch at him.
"You don't mean that." Ana says quieter as Dean gets up and stands in Ana's face.
"You don't think so? Huh? You don't think I've given enough? You don't think I've paid enough? I'm done with it. All of it. And if you know what's good for you Ana, you'd turn around and get the hell out of here." Dean says as Ana stands there.
"Last time this happened, you know what happened? Me and Sam got kidnapped by those vampires, while you were hanging out with your best friend, Gordon. You sure you want another repeat of what happened? Me leaving? Again, you want that again. If it does happen, I'm not coming back. I'm gonna leave your sorry ass, Dean. I mean it." She says as she grabbed her bag and left as she slammed the door to the motel room.
When Ana left for the second time, Dean didn't know what to do, so he stayed. He wanted to go after her and apologize, but he didn't know when Sam would wake up, and he wanted to be the first person that Sam sees, when he does come to. Dean took a deep breath, as he moved to next to Sam.
Sam's corpse Is lying on a mattress, as Dean is sitting next to him grieving. "You know, when you were little -- and you couldn't be more than five -- you just started asking questions. How come we didn't have a mom? Why do we always have to move around? Where'd Dad goes when he'd take off for days at a time? I remember I begged you. 'Quit asking, Sammy. Man, you don't want to know'. I just wanted you to be a kid... just for a little while longer. I always tried to protect you... keep you safe... Dad didn't even have to tell me. It was just always my responsibility, you know? It's like I had one job... I had one job... And I screwed it up." Dean says as there was a pause before he continued. I blew it. And for that, I'm sorry." Dean says as he wipes tears from his face. "I guess that's what I do. I let down the people I love. I let Dad down. I let Annie down. And now, I guess I'm just supposed to let you down, too. How am I supposed to live with that?" Dean says as he is crying now. "What am I supposed to do? Sammy. God. What am I supposed to do?" He says as he inhales sharply. "WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?!"
───※ ·❆· ※───
Sam sits up with his eyes wide open and he looks around, confused and breaths heavily. Sam is standing in front of a mirror, examining his back wincing., with a look of pain. There is a scar from where the knife was stabbed into his spine. In the distance, a door opens, and Dean enters the room. "Sammy? Thank God." Dean says.
"Hey." Sam says to him, as Dean pulls Sam in a tight embrace.
"Ow. Uh, Dean..." Sam says as that's when Dean releases Sam.
"I'm sorry. I'm just... I'm just happy to see you up and around, that's all." Dean says as Sam nods his head looking puzzled. "Come on, sit down." Dean says as they both sit.
"Okay, Dean. What happened to me?" Sam asked.
"What, do you remember?" Dean asked.
"I-I saw you, Ana and Bobby and I then felt this pain. This sharp pain, like white-hot, you know, and then you and Ana started running at me, and... that's about it." Sam says.
"Yeah, that -- that kid, stabbed you in the back. You lost a lot of blood, you know... it was pretty touch and go for a while." Dean says.
"But Dean, you can't -- you can't patch up a wound that bad." Sam says.
"No, either Bobby or Annie could. Who was that kid anyway?" Dean asked.
"His name's Jake? Did you get him?" Sam asked.
"No, he disappeared into the woods." Dean says.
"We got to find him, Dean. And I swear I'm gonna tear that son of a bitch apart." Sam says as he stands up with Dean following in suit.
"Whoa, easy, Van Damme. You just woke up, alright? Let's get you something to eat. Huh? You want something to eat?" Dean asked as Sam nods his head. "I'm starving come on."
A little bit later, the brothers are sitting at a table, eating pizza. "And that's when you guys showed up." Sam says.
"That's awful. Poor Andy." Dean says.
"The demon said he only wanted one of us to walk out alive." Sam says.
"He told you that?" Dean asked.
"Yep." Sam says as he scoffed. "He appeared in a dream."
"He, tell you anything else?" Dean asked.
"No. No. That was it. Nothing else. You know, what I don't get, Dean is if the demon only wanted one of us, then how did Jake and I both get away?" Sam asked.
"Well, I mean, they left you for dead. I'm sure they thought it was over." Dean says as he eats a large bite of pizza and turns away. "So, now that Yellow Eyes has Jake, what's he gonna do with him?" Dean asked.
"I don't know, but whatever it is, we got to stop him." Sam says.
"Well, hold on. You need to get your rest. We got time." Dean says.
"No, we don't." Sam says.
"Sam, oceans aren't boiling, okay? Frogs aren't raining from the sky. Let's get your strength back first." Dean says.
"Well, did you call the Roadhouse? They know anything?" Sam asked.
"Yeah." Dean says as he looks away.
"Dean... what is it?" Sam asked.
"The roadhouse burned to the ground. Ash is dead. Probably Ellen --- a lot of other hunters, too." Dean says.
"Demons?" Sam asked with tears in his eyes, as Amelia was at the roadhouse.
"Yeah, we think so. We think because Ash found something." Dean says.
"What did he find?" Sam asked.
"Bobby's working on that right now." Dean says.
"Well, come on then. Bobby's only a few hours away." Sam says as he begins to stand.
Dean also stands and grabs Sam by the shoulders. "Whoa, stop, Sam, stop it! Damn it. You almost died in there. I mean, what would I've -- can't you just take care of yourself for a little bit, huh? Just for a little bit?" Dean asked.
"I'm sorry, no." Sam says, as Dean shakes his head, and minutes later the Impala drives down a road.
───※ ·❆· ※───
After Ana had left, with Bobby the two of them got back to the house, Ana kept herself busy with some type of lore book and a bottle of whiskey that she'd drink from the bottle. Ana hasn't called Dean at all, it isn't that she doesn't want to, because believe her, she does, but she isn't in the right mindset right now, and she doesn't want yet another argument to happen. That and she doesn't want to try to say something and Dean snaps at her, so that is another reason why she left. She sighs as she turns the page of a lore book, as her dad is somewhere doing something, not that she really cared anyway.
Then she heard a knocking on the door, which was what tore her from her book, she grabbed the bottle of whiskey as she took a swig of it. She walked towards the door, and she opened the door, and when she did, she saw Dean, but he wasn't alone, Sam was there. She almost dropped the bottle of whiskey that was in her hand when she saw him. "Hey, baby." Dean says as he looks at Ana, then looks away immediately.
"Hey." Sam says to Ana as she is astonished that Sam is even here, let alone alive. Last time that she checked; more like the last time she was sober, Sam was considered 'dead'. Yet, here he is, standing in front of her. Her eyes darted from Sam to Dean, and the way that Dean looked meant that he did something, because otherwise would Sam be here. Ana couldn't find the right words to say, as Sam gave her a small smile as he patted her on the shoulder. "Thanks for patching me up."
Ana watches as Sam goes into the house, as she didn't say anything back, and she turned her head towards Dean. He was quiet, too quiet. She wanted to question and ask him questions, but she chose against it and decided to wait for a little bit. Ana turned around and then she heard the door closing from Dean. "So, what do you know baby?" Dean asked her, after he said something.
"I found demonic omens, cattle deaths, lightning storms, the whole shebang. They skyrocketed from out of nowhere. Here." Ana says as she points on a map, the state is Wyoming. "All around here, except for one place... Southern Wyoming."
"Wyoming?" Dean says to her as she nods her head.
"The one area's totally clean -- spotless, almost as if demons are surrounding it." Ana says to him. "I got some books in the trunk." Ana says to Dean, before she turned back to Sam. "Can you take a look at it? Maybe find something I couldn't."
Sam nodded his head at what she said. "Yeah, of course." He says to her.
Ana and Dean are walking in the junkyard, then after a couple moments Ana stops walking and turns to face Dean. "What did you do?" Ana asked him with her eyes slightly glossy with tears, as Dean looked away. "What did you do?" She asked again, as her voice was slightly shaking. "You made a deal... for Sam, didn't you? How long did they give you?" She asked him.
"Annie..." Dean says to her, as Ana looked away trying to keep herself from crying because right now, she doesn't want to cry.
"How long?" She says to him, as that's when he finally looked at her.
"One year." He says to her, which made everything in her stop, it felt like someone had stabbed her through the heart. one year, and then what? She felt her heart stop momentarily. "Which is why we gotta find this yellow-eyed son of a bitch. That's why I'm gonna kill him myself. I mean, I got nothing to lose now, right?"
"Do I not exist to you or what?" Ana asked him as her voice was getting hoarse. "I could throttle you." Ana says to him.
"What and send me downstairs ahead of schedule?" Dean asked her as she sighed.
"Why are you and your dad trying to throw yourselves in the pit?" Ana asked.
"I don't know, I guess something good could come out of it, you know?" Dean asked her. "It's like my life could mean something."
"What, and it didn't before? Have you got that low of an opinion of yourself? Are you that screwed in the head?" Ana asked, as she grabbed Dean's hands and interlocked them together.
"I couldn't let him die, sweetheart. I couldn't. He's, my brother." Dean says choking up, with tears. The first time in a long time.
"How is he gonna feel when he knows you're going to Hell?" Ana asked him as Dean brought her into his arms, as they hugged each other as tightly as they could. He held her in his arms, as his chin was on the top of her head, he pressed a kiss on the top of her head.
"You can't tell him, baby, or Bobby." Dean tells her as his lips lingered on her head, as she hugged him a little tighter as she tried to keep her tears from rolling down her cheeks. "You can take a shot at me, whatever you gotta do, but please don't tell them." He begs her, as begging is the right word, maybe also pleading too. But mainly begging.
"So, I will lose you forever next year...?" She asked him as those were the words that she never wanted to hear coming from her mouth. They felt like a hard pill to swallow if she is being honest. She doesn't know what she would do honestly without Dean in her life; he is the only one who keeps her sane and keeps her from losing her shit. She feels her lip tremble at his words, and at the thought of losing Dean forever.
'So, after next year, I will be alone for the rest of my life, just fucking great', Ana thought in her head. "It'll be okay, baby, I promise." He says to her which ended up being more so to himself, and also her at the same time. How is this going to be, okay? Is what he wants to know. None of this is okay.
Suddenly, there was a clank from a distant part of the junkyard. Dean and Ana crawl to the side of a car, and grab the intruder. Once they have her by the shoulders, they both recognize her as Amelia.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Amelia, Bobby, and Ana are sitting by a table. He pours her a shot of holy water from a flask and pushes it toward her. "Is this really necessary?" She asked with a raised an eyebrow at what he did.
"Just a belt of Holy Water. Shouldn't hurt." Bobby says.
"Besides, we can't be too sure." Ana says as Amelia had to agree with her on that one.
Amelia lifts the shot glass to her mouth and swallows the water. "What happened? How'd you get out?" Bobby asked.
"I wasn't supposed to. I was supposed to be in there with everybody else, mom was out of town, so it was just me and Ash, Jo was in Seattle." Amelia says as she drinks the Dr. Pepper that Ana slid to her, and she exhales sharply. "By the time I got back, the flames were sky-high, and everybody was dead. I couldn't have been gone more than fifteen minutes."
"Speaking of, where is Ash?" Ana asked.
"I don't know, but when I got back, he wasn't there, he must have gotten out somewhere." Amelia says as Ana took a breath of relief that her favorite mullet guy had escaped before the fire got too bad.
"Sorry, Mia." Sam says as Mia took another drink of the Dr. Pepper.
"A lot of good people died in there. And me and Ash got to live." Mia says with a scoff. "Lucky us." She says.
"You mentioned a safe? Isn't that in the basement?" Ana asked as Amelia nodded her head. "Did demons get what was in it?"
Amelia shook her head no, as she pulls out a map from her pocket, unfolding it and setting it down on the table. It has several black lines and 'X's on it. "Wyoming? What does that mean?" Dean asked as he points to the lines.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Ana is reading from a large book. "I don't believe it." Ana says as she sets the book down on a table. "Each of these 'X's." She says as she points to the marks on the map. "Is an abandoned frontier church -- all mid-19th century. And all of them built by Samuel Colt."
"Samuel Colt -- the demon killing, gun-making Samuel Colt?" Dean asked as Ana nodded her head.
"Yeah, and there's more. He built private railway lines..." Ana says as she points to the black lines on the map. "...connecting church to church. It just so happens to lay out like this." She says as she connects the points on the map until the shape of a star is made.
"Tell, me that's not what I think that is." Dean says.
"That's a Devil's Trap. A 100-square mile Devil's Trap." Ana says.
"That's brilliant, iron lines demons can't cross." Dean says.
"I've never heard of anything that massive." Amelia says.
"No one has, besides me, because I'm weird." Ana says which earned a couple smiles. "So, I've been told."
"And after all these years, none of the lines are broken? I mean, it still works?" Dean asked.
"Definitely." Sam says.
"How do you know?" Dean asked.
"All the omens I found. The demons, they must be circling, and they can't get in." Ana says.
"Why? What's inside?" Amelia asked.
"That's what I've been looking for. And there's nothing except old cowboy cemetery right in the middle." Ana says. "That is probably the one thing I don't know about this, and that says a lot."
"Well, what's so important about a cemetery, or, what's Colt trying to protect?" Sam asked.
"Well, unless..." Dean says.
"Unless what?" Sam asked.
"What if Colt wasn't trying to keep the demons out? What if he was trying to keep something in?" Dean says.
"You two girlies done?" Ana asked the two brothers as they both looked at her. "You know if you asked nicely, maybe I could have told you what you just asked each other. " Ana says to them, like she is talking to children. Which in this case, they are.
"Could they get inside?" Dean asked.
"This thing is so powerful, you'd practically need an A-bomb to destroy it. No way a full-blood demon gets across." Ana says.
"No." Sam says as there was a pause before he continued. "But I know who could."
───※ ·❆· ※───
Jake pulls onto a backroad and parks his car in front of a railroad track. He gets out of the car and looks around, after a few moments, Jake turns around and sees the Yellow-Eyed Demon standing behind him. "Howdy, Jake? So, did you have a nice trip?"
"I'm here. I did what you asked. Now what?" Jake asked.
"Fifty miles, thataway." The demon says as he points in the opposite direction where Jake is standing, across the railroad tracks. "There's a cemetery. A crypt. You got to open that for me. Think you can manage that, sport?"
"You know what? Screw you and your freaky orders. Go do it yourself." Jake says.
"Oh, I can't. I can't go that away -- not yet." The demon says.
"Why not?" Jake asked.
"I just can't. But if you're gonna open that crypt for me, you're gonna need a key." The demon says as he pulls the Colt from his jacket pocket and holds it in the air.
"A gun?" Jake asked.
"Oh, this isn't just any gun, Jake. This is the only gun in the whole universe that can shoot me dead." The demon says as he points the gun to his head.
"Is that so?" Jake asked.
"Yep. Here take it." The demon says as he hands the Colt over to Jake, who cocks the gun and aims it at him. "Oh, my. I'm shocked at this unforeseen turn of events. Go ahead, Jake. Squeeze that trigger. Be all you can be. This'll all be over. Your life can go back to normal. Of course, the Army won't take you back 'cause, you're AWOL. But I'm sure you could get your old job at the factory back. But then, on the other hand, the rest of your life, and your family's, could be money and honey, health and wealth, every day is ice cream sundae. And all you got to do is this one little thing."
"Why me?" Jake asked.
"Oh, Jake. It's got to be you. I've been waiting for you for a very long time. You're my leader. You open that crypt, and you will have your army." The demon says.
"You're talking about the end of the world." Jake says.
"No, not the end -- the beginning... a better world, where your family will be protected. More than that. They'll be royalty. Buddy boy, you have the chance to get in on the ground floor of a thrilling opportunity. Whaddya say? It's your call." The demon says as Jake lowers the gun. "Attababy."
───※ ·❆· ※───
It's nighttime, a cemetery gate opens, and Jake enters, walking towards a crypt. Dean is shown standing behind a large tomb, a gun in hand. "Howdy, Jake." Sam says, as him, Bobby, Amelia and Dean appear from the shadows, with their gun raised.
"Wait... you were dead. I killed you." Jake says as Amelia looked at Jake, then at Sam, and then lastly at Dean.
"Yeah? Well, next time, finish the job." Sam says.
"I did! I cut clean through your spinal cord, man." Jake says as Amelia's mouth gaped open at hearing what she heard. Sam glances at Dean, who lowers his eyes. "You can't be alive. You can't be." Jake says.
"Okay, just take it real easy there, son." Bobby says.
"And if I don't?" Jake asked.
"Wait and see." Sam says.
"What, you a tough guy all of a sudden? What are you gonna do -- kill me?" Jake asked.
"It's a thought." Sam says.
"You had your chance. You didn't." Jake says, as he turns around and pulls the Colt out of his pocket, as he inserts it into the crypt. Sam shoots Jake four times in the back, as he falls to the gun, as Amelia walks to stand over him.
"Please... don't. Please." Jake says as he gasps for air.
"No... but she will." Sam says as Amelia raised her gun and shot Jake straight through the mouth and the heart, which made him fall down and die immediately.
The five of them look over to the crypt as two separate engravings on the crypt spin in different directions, then stop.
"Oh, no." Ana mutters quietly.
"Ana, what is it?" Sam asked.
"It's the door to Hell." Ana says, as she pulls the Colt from the crypt. "Take cover." Ana says as they all run behind tombstones as the doors to the crypt burst open. A large black mass erupts from either side and shoots outward.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Black demon smoke continues to pour from the crypt, with individual trails of smoke haring off in different directions. Bobby, Amelia, Sam, Dean and Ana are taking cover behind some tombstones nearby. "What the hell just happened?!" Dean calls out.
"That's devil's gate, it's the door to Hell." Ana says as a railway iron is being bent into two and a pair of legs crossing, while a black demon smoke trail goes out the other way. "Come on! We gotta shut the gate!" Ana says as Dean checks the Colt for bullets.
Thunder crashes and the yellow-eyed demon appears behind Dean. He flings the Colt out of Dean's hand and into his own, as Dean looks astonished. "Boys shouldn't play with Daddy's guns." The demon says as he throws Dean into the air, where Dean hits his head on a tombstone and lies there stunned.
Bobby, Amelia, Sam, and Ana are struggling to close the crypt door. Ana looks over and sees Dean down and then sees the yellow eyed demon who looks at Ana and smiles.
"Dean!" Ana says as she lets go of the gate door and runs towards Dean. The demon ended up throwing Ana against a nearby tree.
"Well, look at that, the pretty redhead." The demon says with that stupid demon smirk on his face. "Just as pretty as I imagined." The demon says, before he turned to Dean. Dean is struggling upright; the demon then throws him against a post. "Sit a spell." The demon says. "So, Dean... I gotta thank you. You see, demons can't resurrect people, unless a deal is made. I know, red tape -- it'll make you nuts. But thanks to you, your brother's back in rotation." The demon says as he laughs. "Now, I wasn't counting on that, but I'm glad. I liked your better than Jake, anyhow. Tell me -- have you ever heard the expression, 'If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is?'." The demon says.
"You call that deal good?" Dean asked the demon.
"Well, it's better shake than your dad ever got, and you never wondered why? I'm surprised at you, I mean... you saw what your brother and that blonde just did to Jake, that was pretty cold, wasn't it?" The demon says.
"You touch Mia, I swear to God..." Ana says to the demon.
"What's God got to do with this?" The demon says to Ana.
"How certain are you that what you brought back is 100%, pure, Sam?" The demon asked. "You of all people should know, that what's dead, should stay dead. Anyway... thanks a bunch." The demon says, as he cocks the Colt and aims it at Dean, just then John Winchester grabs the demon from behind.
The body that the demon possessed falls to the ground, the gun still in hand, while John and the cloud of smoke that was the demon wrestle. The demon pushes him to the ground and enters the body once more. When he stands up, Ana is pointing the Colt at him, and shoots him in the heart. The demon then falls to the ground, dead.
Bobby, Amelia, and Sam finally close to gate doors and turn to see John. Dean stands up and faces his dad. John walks forward and smiles at Dean, as he puts his hand on his shoulder. Both are teary, and Ana approaches as she stands next to Dean. With another look at Dean, John steps back and disappears into white light. Dean and Ana look at each other.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Dean, Ana and now Sam are standing over the demon's smoking dead body. "Well, gonna check that off the to-do list." Dean says as he laughs a little.
"You did it." Sam says.
"I didn't do it alone." Dean says.
"Do you think Dad really... do you think he really climbed outta Hell?" Sam asked as Dean has his arm around Ana's back.
"The door was open. If anyone's stubborn enough to do it... it would be him." Dean says.
"Where do you think he is now?" Sam asked.
"I don't know." Dean says.
"I kind of can't believe it, Dean. I mean, our whole lives, everything... has been prepping for this, and now I... I kind of don't know what to say."
"I do." Dean says as he leans closer to the body. "That was for our mom, you son of a bitch."
───※ ·❆· ※───
Dean, Ana and Dean are walking towards the car, along with Amelia. Dean opens the door, along with the backdoor for Ana. "You know, when Jake saw me... it was like he saw a ghost." Sam says as Dean stops, and shuts the driver's door, and Ana's door once she was inside the car. "I mean, hell, you heard him, Dean. He said he killed me."
"Glad he was wrong." Dean says.
"I don't think he was, Dean." Sam says as there was a small pause as Sam looks at Dean. "What happened? After I was stabbed."
"I already told you." Dean says.
"Not everything." Sam says.
"Sam, can we celebrate for a minute? The demon is dead." Dean says.
"Did I die?" Sam asked.
"Oh, come on." Dean says.
"Did you sell your soul for me, like Dad did?" Sam asked.
"Oh, come on! No!" Dean says as Ana flinches.
"Tell me the truth." Sam says as Dean scoffs. "Dean, tell me the truth." Sam says.
"Sam..." Dean says.
"How long do you get?" Sam asked.
"One year." Dean says as Sam nods with tears in his eyes. "I got one year; Annie was the only one who knew." Dean says to Sam.
"You shouldn't have done that. How could you do that?" Sam asked.
"Don't get mad at me. Don't you do that. I had to. I had to look out for you. That's my job." Dean says.
"And what do you think my job is?" Sam asked.
"What?" Dean asked confused by what Sam said.
"You've saved my life over and over. I mean, you sacrifice everything for me. Don't you think I'd do the same for you? You're my big brother. There's nothing I wouldn't do for you, for Ana or Mia. And I don't care what it takes, I'm gonna get you out of this. Guess, I gotta save your ass for a change."
"Yeah." Dean says, as Amelia speaks up.
"The yellow bitch might be dead, but a lot more got through that gate." Amelia says.
"How many you think?" Dean asked as he turned to Amelia.
"Hundred, maybe two hundred. It's an army. He's unleashed an army." Amelia says.
"Hope to hell you guys are ready. 'Cause the war has just begun." Bobby says.
"Well, then..." Dean says as he and Sam opens the Impala's trunk and throws the Colt inside and closes it. "... we got work to do."
