{a very supernatural christmas - part one}
Three days before christmas
The four of them are at the house when a woman's husband was killed, and Ana and Dean interviewing a woman. While Sam and Amelia are in the house looking to see what killed the man. A girl is looking outside through the glass door, as the mother stands outside being interviewed by Ana and Dean.
"What happened to your father?" Ana asked the woman.
"Um, my daughter and I were in bed. Mike was downstairs decorating the tree. I hear a thump on the roof and then I hear Mike scream, and now I'm talking to the FBI." The woman says.
"And you didn't see any of it?" Dean asks as the woman shakes her head.
"No, he was...he was just gone." The woman says.
"Were the doors locked? There was no forced entry?" Ana asks, as the woman shakes her head.
"That's right." The woman says.
"Does anybody else have a key?" Dean asks.
"My parents." The woman says.
"Where do they live?" Ana asks.
"Florida." The woman says, as that's when Sam walks out of the house.
"Thanks for letting us have a look around, Mrs. Walsh. I think we, uh, got just about everything we need. We're all set." Sam says as he walks out of the house.
"We'll be in touch." Dean says as the four of them start walking down the stairs.
"Agents..." The woman says, making the three adults turn their heads towards her. "The police said my husband might have been kidnapped." She informs as Ana nods her head as Dean has an around the small of her back.
"Could be." Dean says.
"Then why haven't the kidnappers called? O-or - or demand a ransom? It's three days before Christmas. What am I supposed to tell our daughter?" She asks as Amelia and Ana gives the woman a solemn look.
"We're very sorry." Sam says, as after that he, Dean and Ana, walk away as Mrs. Walsh turns to head back inside the house.
"Find anything?" Ana asks as she stands in the middle of Sam and Dean. Her and Dean's hands are interlocked.
"The usual stocking, mistletoe...this." Sam says as he holds up a tooth.
"A tooth? Where was this?" Ana asks as she examines the tooth that has some blood on it.
"Gross." Amelia muttered under her breath, as her nose scrunched up in disgust as Ana couldn't agree more on that. It was disgusting.
"In the chimney?" Sam says Ana turns to him confused.
"Chimney?" Ana asks in disbelief.
"No way, a man fits up a chimney. It's too narrow." Dean says as Ana nods her head.
"No way he fits up in one piece." Sam says.
"Alright, so if Dad went up the chimney--" Ana says.
"We need to find what dragged him up there." Dean says finishing Ana's sentence, as the two fist-bumped.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Ana and Dean are coming back from the supply run like they always do. Ana was smart as she also did a little christmas shopping when Dean wasn't looking. He's been bugging her what's in her bag, but she hasn't told him. He won't find out until Christmas. Even if that means her bringing the bag with her everywhere she goes so that Dean doesn't try to be sneaky.
"Baby, just tell me." Dean asks like a whiny kid not getting their way, which is amusing because Dean has this 'tough' hunter persona. But yet here he is acting like a kid throwing a tantrum.
Ana shakes her head as they are heading out of the gas market, getting some food, and of course beer. Ana got some more pop, as she is more of a pop drinker than beer. Though, when it comes with Ana and whiskey, she'll drink it like its water. Which Dean has seen numerous times. Most of which he doesn't want to admit.
"Baby, please." Dean says purposely getting in front of Ana as they're walking back to the motel.
"Dean, no." Ana says like she is scolding a child who is throwing a tantrum, which is what Dean is doing. Once Dean sees her 'scolding' look he looks down guilty like he's been caught.
"Okay." Dean says which makes Ana smile a little.
"Baby." Ana mutters and as just like that Dean raises his head to look at her.
"I'm not a baby, Annie." Dean says as Ana gives him a look as Dean opens the door to the motel, as Sam is on the couch doing research.
"You're whining like one." Ana says as Dean gave her a look which made her smirk.
Pictures of demons are pinned on the wall. Sam is searching the internet for information about demons. The door then closes when Ana and Dean, walk into the room.
"So, was I right? Is it the serial-killing chimney sweep?" Dean asks as Ana takes off her jacket, which of course Dean got her.
"Yep. It's uh, it's actually Dick Van Dyke." Sam says as Dean turned to his brother confused at what he said.
"Who?" Dean asked, which made Ana's mouth drop when hearing that. Even she knows who that is.
"It's Mary Poppins, dude." Ana says to Dean as he turns to her confused.
"Who's that?" Deak asks as Ana's mouth gaped open when he said that.
"What? How? Oh my god?" Ana says with a shake of her head as Sam smiles at that.
"Oh, come on - never mind." Sam says to his brother.
"Well, it turns out that Walsh is the second guy in town grabbed out of his house this month." Dean says as Ana nods her head.
"Oh yeah?" Sam asks his brother as Ana sits next to Sam on the couch.
"Yeah." Dean says.
" The other guy get dragged up the chimney too?" Sam asks.
"Don't know. Witnesses say they heard a thump on the roof." Ana says as Sam nods his head at her.
"So, what the hell do you think we're dealing with?" Dean asks.
"Actually, I have an idea." Sam says, turning to Dean.
"Yeah?" Dean asks.
"Uh, it's going to sound crazy." Sam says.
"What could you possibly say that sounds crazy to me?" Dean asks his brother.
"Um...evil Santa." Sam says as Ana smiled when he said that.
"Yeah, that's crazy." Dean says to Sam.
"Yeah...I mean, I'm just saying that there's some version of the anti-Claus in every culture. You got Belsnickel, Krampus, Black Peter." Sam says as he hands Dean pictures. "Whatever you want to call it, there's all sorts of lore."
"Saying what?" Dean asks.
"Saying...back in the day, Santa's brother went rogue and now he shows up around Christmas time...but instead of bringing presents he punishes the wicked." Ana says before Sam had the chance to even open his mouth.
"How do you know that?" Dean asks his girlfriend.
"You have your hobbies, I have mine. Mine just so happen to be studying lore in high school." Ana says as Dean nods his head still being confused. "What I didn't have any friends."
"So, he hauls their asses up chimneys?" Dean asks.
"For starters yeah." Sam says.
"So, this is your theory, huh? Santa's shady brother?" Dean asks.
"Well, I'm just saying, that's what the lore says." Sam says.
"Santa doesn't have a brother. There's no Santa." Dean says.
"Thanks a lot Dean, you just traumatized every child." Amelia grumbles to the oldest Winchester.
"Yeah, I know. You're the one who told me that in the first place, remember." Sam says as Dean looks down feeling guilty. Ana remembers when Dean told Sam that when they were kids. "Yeah, you know what, I could be wrong -- I -- gotta be wrong." Sam says as he closes his computer.
"Maybe, maybe not." Dean says which caught both Sam and Ana's attention.
"What?" They asked in unison before they fist-bumped.
"I did a little digging. Turns out both victims visited the same place before they got snatched."
"Where?" Sam asks.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Christmas music plays, children are playing and people wearing Christmas costumes are walking. The fact there is still no snow in Michigan is giving Ana the creeps. Ana and Dean's hands are interlocked as Amelia was walking behind Sam, she couldn't help but feel a creepy vibe with the place, not to mention the lack of snow. Which isn't helping either.
"It does kind of lend credence to the theory, doesn't it?" Dean asks.
"Yeah, but anti-Claus? Couldn't be." Sam says.
"It's a Christmas miracle. Hey, speaking of, we should have one this year." Dean says as Ana knows why Dean is being like Crosby...this is his last Christmas before he goes to Hell. For God knows how long.
"Have one what?" Sam asks.
"A Christmas." Dean says.
"No thanks." Sam says scoffing.
"No, we'll get a tree, a little Boston market, just like when we were little." Dean says listing off the stuff he will get.
"Dean, those weren't hallmark memories for me, you know." Sam says as Dean gave Ana's hand a light squeeze.
"What are you talking about? We had some great Christmases." Dean says as Ana shrugged, as after she was twelve, she spent some Christmases with Dean and Sam, especially when they would be at Bobby's when John drops them off. They weren't exactly jolly, but they weren't also the worst also, now she wouldn't trade them for anything, because it brought her closer to Dean, and now they are dating, so it works.
"Whose childhood are you talking about?" Sam asks his brother.
"Oh, come on Sam." Dean says. "Join me and Annie."
"No! Just...no." Sam says, as Ana was looking around the slightly creepy place.
"Alright, Grinch." Dean grumbles, as he and Ana, walk away leaving Sam to his thoughts.
───※ ·❆· ※───
"You'd think with the ten bucks; it costs to get into this place. Santa could scrounge up a little snow." Dean says looking around as there is no snow anywhere.
"Cheapskate." Ana grumbles, as she is sorta like Sam being a Grinch about Christmas. But she also isn't. She's just not as happy and jolly, because this is Dean's last Christmas, before he goes to Hell.
"This is looking freaky without the snow. I know some places don't get snow but when they do get it, the whole state thinks everyone is gonna die and they shut down the state." Amelia explains as Ana nodded her head as sometimes Portland doesn't get snow, but it will get a lot of rain, as like a little substitute.
"What?" Sam asks, as Dean and Ana's voices made him jump.
"Nothing. What are we looking for, again?" Dean asks.
"Um, the lore says that the anti-Claus will walk with a limp and smell like sweets." Sam says, looking around.
"Great, so we're looking for a pimp Santa." Dean says.
"Why the sweets?" Ana asks as she stands next to Dean.
"Think about it, Ana. If you smell like candy, the kids will come closer, you know?" Sam says.
"Nine-year-old me would, most definitely. Hence why Dad had to hide all the candy in the house." Ana piped up which made Dean snicker at Ana.
"Makes sense. Even to his day. Hence why the candy that we do have, I have to hide it from your little grabby hands." Dean says stating the obvious which resulted in Ana punching his shoulder. He gave her a glare which she only returned with a smirk. "Doesn't mean you can hit me sweetheart."
"How does this thing know who's been naughty and who's been nice?" Amelia says, as the three of them turn their heads. As, Dean rubbed his shoulder where Ana punched. For a short girl she really has a good punch. Too good.
"I don't know." Sam says to Amelia.
A man wearing a Santa Claus costume sits outside a small barn. A woman and a boy walk up to him. "So, Ronny, come sit on Santa's knee. Ah, there you go. Have you been a good boy this year?"
"That's not creepy at all." Amelia whispers, as the other three nodded their heads at what she said, knowing that she wasn't wrong at all.
"Why is he creepy?" Amelia asked as she lowered her voice so that only the four of them would hear.
"Because he is." Ana says, as Amelia nodded her head at what she said.
"Yeah." Ronny says.
"Good. Santa's got a special gift for you." He says as he cackles creepily which made Ana have a shiver down her spine, as her grip on Dean's hand tightened a little. He had his hand reassuringly on hers.
Dean looks at Santa and the boy speculatively. "Maybe we do." Dean says.
Moments later a woman in an elf costume walks up to Sam, Dean and Ana. "Welcome to Santa's Court. Can I escort your child to Santa?" The woman asks.
"Uh..." Sam says.
"No. No. Uh, but actually my brother is here..." Dean says as he smacks Sam's shoulder with his free hand. "It's been a lifelong dream of his." Amelia smirked when he said that as she thought that it was hilarious as she watches Sam's look that he is giving his brother.
The woman looks at Sam like he's a freak. "Uh, sorry. No kids over...12."
Ana has a tight-lipped smile, as her and Dean are practically glued to each other, mainly because the man dressed as Santa creeps her the fuck out. What? She feels protected being close to Dean.
"No, he's just kidding. We only came here to watch." Sam says to the woman.
The woman looks at Dean who shakes his head, as she slowly backs off. "Ew." She mutters before she leaves.
"I-I didn't mean that we can here to w-y." Sam says as Dean looks at Sam. "Thanks a lot Dean. Thanks for that." Sam says.
Dean laughs, and suddenly his face turns serious. "Check it out." He says to the other three
. The four of them watch the man dressed as Santa leaves his chair. They take notice that he is walking with a really bad limp. "Are you seeing this?"
"A lot of people walk with limps, right?" Sam asks as Ana shakes her head as when the Santa guy walked past them, Ana hid behind Dean, like a child hiding behind their parent.
"Tell me you didn't smell that." Dean says.
"That was candy, Sam." Ana says to the younger Winchester brother.
"That was Ripple. I think. Had to be." Sam says as he looks at Santa again.
"Maybe. We're willing to take that chance?" Dean asks.
───※ ·❆· ※───
Inside the Impala, Sam, Dean and Ana are spying on a simple house that is decorated with Christmas lights. Amelia had failed of trying to stay up, as she is asleep in the backseat, as the three of them are just letting her sleep. Ana has tried to stay up, as she is sitting on Dean's knee. He has an arm around her keeping her still. Ana can barely keep her eyes open, but just when she'd close her eyes, Dean would poke gently to wake her up.
"Baby..." Dean says softly in Ana's ear, which startled her a little. His arm around her rubbed the small of her back, as he pressed a kiss to her temple softly. He then turned to Sam. "What time is it?" Dean asks Sam.
"Same as the last time you asked. Here..." Sam says as he hands Dean a thermos. "Caffeinate."
Dean takes the thermos from Sam and tries to pour coffee into the cup, but the thermos is empty. "Wonderful." He grumbles, as Ana repositions herself on Dean's lap. "Hey, Sam."
"Yeah?" Sam asks.
"Why are you the boy who hates Christmas?" Dean asks, as Ana's head is resting on Dean's shoulder.
"Dean..." Sam says not wanting to talk about it.
"I mean, I admit it. You know, we had a few bumpy holidays when we were kids." Dean says, as Ana could agree on that. As she spent a couple of them with the brothers to know that."
'Bumpy'?" Sam asks in slight disbelief.
"That was then. We'll do it right this year." Dean says.
"Look, Dean. If you and Ana want to have Christmas, knock yourselves out. Just don't involve me." Sam says to Dean as Ana softly kisses Dean's cheek, which makes him smile softly.
"Oh, yeah, that'd be great. Me and Annie making cranberry molds." Dean says definitely not enthusiastic, as Ana simply just shrugs her shoulders. She is more of a baker on Christmas. What? She bakes cookies. Dean returns his gaze to the house, as Santa is still in his red cap, but in a green tank top, looks outside, then closes his curtains. Ana sits up more, as her hand is on the door handle of the Impala.
"What's up with Saint Nicotine?" Ana asked.
"Oh my God!" A woman's voice was heard, as the three of them rushed out of the Impala with their guns drawn. Ana is behind Dean and Sam on the bottom step, as Dean looks inside the window of the front door.
"Huh." Sam says.
"What?" Ana and Dean ask in unison.
"Nothing. It's just that, uh...well, you know, Mr. Gung Ho Christmas might have to blow away Santa." Sam says which made not a lick of sense to Ana.
"Huh? Okay, speak English, please." Ana whispers as Sam shushes her, as she flipped him off.
Dean opens the door as the man dressed up as Santa is sitting on the couch, holding a giant bong and a bottle of whiskey. The man dressed as Santa stands up, as the three of them quickly hide their guns behind their backs.
"What the hell are you doing here?" The man dressed as Santa slurs drunk from the whiskey as Ana sneaks out through the door with their guns in her hands.
After a good solid minute of the two brothers awkwardly singing Silent Night with drunk Santa, they walk out of the house. Ana is leaning against the Impala, with her arms crossed over her chest. "Took you two long enough? I got worried about you too."
Dean fake laughs at his girlfriend, who only smirks. Sam just shook his head with a small smile at Ana, as she got into the backseat of the Impala. "Really funny, Annie. Really funny."
"Grinch." Ana grumbles under her breath, as Dean looks at her through the rear window of the Impala, like a mother giving her child a look. Ana waves a little knowing that she is slightly pushing Dean's buttons. Which she definitely knows how to do. She would do it proudly too.
Amelia slept through all that, as the brothers and Ana had just let her sleep, knowing that she needs it.
───※ ·❆· ※───
"So, that's how your son describes the attack? 'Santa took daddy up the chimney'?" Dean asks, the mother of the boy, as Ana is in the middle of Dean and Sam as Amelia is right beside Sam, as her hair is up in a braid.
"That's what he says, yes." The woman says as she has a bruise on one eye.
"And where were you?" Ana asks the woman.
"I was asleep and all of a sudden...I was being dragged out of bed, screaming." The woman says.
"Did you see the attacker?" Amelia asks as the woman shakes her head.
"It was dark, and he hit me. He knocked me out." The woman says.
Dean nods his head. "I'm sorry. I know this is hard."
"Yeah, um ... Mrs. Caldwell., where did you get that wreath above the fireplace?" Sam asks as Ana gives Dean a weird look, who only shrugs his shoulders.
"E-Excuse me?" The woman asks.
Sam shrugs his shoulders, feeling embarrassed of asking. "Just curious, you know."
When the three of them walked out of the house, Dean immediately grabbed Ana's hand holding her close. "Wreaths, huh? Sure, you didn't want to ask her about her shoes? I saw some nice handbags in the foyer." Dean says as Ana smiles at his joke. "See, Annie agrees with me." Dean says pointing to Ana.
"We've seen that wreath before, Dean." Sam and Amelia informs the oldest Winchester.
"Where?" Dean and Ana ask in unison.
"The Walshes', remember." Amelia says as Sam and Amelia share an eyeroll, before they got into the car as well.
"I know I was just testing you." Dean says as Sam scoffs, as Dean kisses Ana's cheek. They get into the Impala and drive back to the motel.
───※ ·❆· ※───
At the motel, Ana and Dean are on the couch, as in Ana's defense she wanted snuggles. If Ana wants snuggles, she must get snuggles, otherwise she will be cranky without snuggles. Sam is on the phone with Bobby. "Yeah, all right. Well, keep looking, would you? Thanks, Bobby." Sam says as he hangs up. "Well, good news, we're not dealing with the anti-Claus."
"What did Dad say?" Ana as she looks at Sam as Dean pressed a kiss onto her head.
"Uh, that we're morons. He also said that it was probably meadowsweet in those wreaths." Sam says as he looks back at his laptop.
"Wow! Amazing. What the hell is meadowsweet?" Dean asked, as Ana smiled a little, then again lore is her thing, as if Dean is being honest, he loves when she goes on a lore tangent.
"It's pretty rare and it's probably the most powerful plant in pagan lore." Ana says as Dean gives her a weird look.
"Pagan lore? How the hell do you know that?" Dean asks, as he has an arm around Ana.
"They used meadowsweet for human sacrifice. It was kind of like a... chum for their gods. Gods were drawn to it and they'd stop by and snack on whatever was the nearest human." Ana explains as Sam nods his head as Dean is giving Ana a blank look of pure confusion on his face.
"Who are you and what have you done with my girlfriend?" Dean asks as Ana thumps his shoulder. "Hey, what was that for?" Ana just shrugged her shoulders at Dean, as he just gave her a glare. He turns his head to his brother
"Why would somebody be using that for Christmas wreaths?" Amelia asks, as she's sitting on the opposite side of the table where her and Sam are sitting at.
"It's not as crazy as it sounds. I mean, pretty much every Christmas tradition is pagan." Sam says as Ana nods her head as Dean purposely puts his hand over her mouth to get her to stop talking.
"Christmas is Jesus' birthday." Dean says, as Amelia just shrugged her shoulders at what he said.
"Not, really..." Ana is muffled as Dean turns to her, giving her a look that says, 'no one asked your opinion', as she just huffed.
"No Jesus' birthday was probably in the fall. It was actually the winter solstice festival that was co-opted by the Church and renamed 'Christmas'. But I mean, the Yule log, the tree, even Santa's red suit -- that's all remnants of pagan lore." Sam says as Ana nodded her head as Dean's hand is still covering her mouth.
"It's true..." Ana says muffled as Dean brought her to his chest to get her to stop talking for five seconds. He had his hand on the back of her head, slightly pushing her head into his chest. Which she didn't complain about. Amelia just smirked at Ana, as she thought it was funny.
"How do you know that? What are you gonna tell me next? Is the Easter bunny's Jewish?" Dean sarcastically asks. "So, you think we're dealing with a pagan God?"
"Yeah, probably Hold Nickar, God of the winter solstice." Sam says to his brother.
"And all these Martha Stewart wannabes, buying these fancy wreaths..." Dean says as he slowly released his hand from Ana's mouth and she thumped him on his head. Which made him instantly rub his head where he just got thumped.
"Yeah, it's pretty much like putting a neon sign on your door saying, 'come kill us'." Sam says.
"Great." Dean says as he grabs Ana's wrists and holds them behind her back so that she doesn't try to thump him again. Because the more that she continues doing it, the more his head's going to hurt.
"Huh...when you sacrifice to Hold Nickar, guess what he gives you in return." Sam says.
"Lap dances, hopefully." Dean comments, as Ana shook her head.
"Mild weather." Ana says as Dean gives her a look at this time, she just shrugs her shoulders. "What?" She says to him, as he gave her a playful glare.
"Like no snow in the middle of December in the middle of Michigan." Dean says looking out of the motel.
"Home state of Eminem." Ana adds as Dean looks towards her as Amelia smiles as she knows who Ana is talking about.
"Who?" Dean asks.
"How do you not know the Real Slim Shady?" Ana asks as Dean gives her a real confused look.
"I don't want to know. But all I have to ask is why?" Dean says as Ana just shrugs her shoulders.
"Okay, children." Sam says breaking the couple up of their debate which made Ana glare at Sam for interrupting the moment, as Sam had to hide his smile at the glare that Ana gave him. "For instance, the mild weather is a beautiful gift from the Hold Nickar."
"Do we know how to kill this thing yet?" Dean asks, as he turns his head to Ana.
"Don't answer that question." He says as he points a finger in Ana's direction. He knew that she wouldn't listen to what he said. Then again, she doesn't in the first place. She doesn't listen to her; he doesn't listen to her. They both don't listen to each other.
"Uh, wooden stakes." Ana says as Dean groans at hearing that. That wasn't what he wanted to hear.
"I said do not answer that question." Dean says to her as she smirked.
"Too bad." Ana remarks.
"You think they're selling them on purpose? Feeding the victims to this thing?" Dean asks.
"Let's find out." Sam says as Dean dragged Ana's hand pulling her out of the motel.
"Dude." Ana says as of course Dean didn't listen. Like usual. "I can walk by myself, you know. I am a grown woman."
"Yeah, a grown woman who doesn't listen." Dean says to Ana which made her huff, which isn't wrong. She doesn't listen.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Ana says as he presses a kiss onto her lips, as his hands softly gripped her sides. He moved on of his hands to gently cup her cheek as he deepened the kiss.
The two of them got interrupted by Amelia clearing her throat, which made Dean hold up a finger. "You guys can kiss later." Amelia says which made Dean break the kiss and look at the blonde.
───※ ·❆· ※───
"How can I help you three?" The storekeeper asks.
"Uh, hope so. Uh, we were playing Jenga over at the Walshes' the other night, and, uh...well, he hasn't shut up since about this Christmas wreath...and...I don't know...you tell him." Dean says to Sam as he keeps an arm around Ana.
"Sure." Sam says, as he turns to the storekeeper. "It was yummy."
"I sell a lot of wreaths, guys." The storekeeper says.
"Right, right, but -- but you see, this one would have been really special. It had, uh, it had green leaves, um white buds. It might have been made of, uh, meadowsweet?"
"Well, aren't you a fussy one?" The storekeeper comments.
"He is.." Dean adds as Sam looks at his brother.
"Anyway, I know the one you're talking about. I'm all out." The storekeeper says.
"Huh. Seems like this meadowsweet stuff's pretty rare and expensive. Why make wreaths out of it?" Dean says as Ana nods her head.
"Beats me. I didn't make them." The storekeeper says.
"Who made them?" Ana pipes up.
"Madge Carrigan, a local lady. She said the wreaths were so special, so she gave them to me for free." The storekeeper says
"She didn't charge you?" Sam asks.
"Nope." The storekeeper says with a shake of his head.
"Did you sell them for free?" Amelia asked the man.
"Hell no. It's Christmas. People pay a buttload for this crap." The storekeeper says.
"That's the spirit." Dean says with a grin on his face, as Ana has a small smile on her face.
───※ ·❆· ※───
The four of them got to the motel as Dean opens the door and turns on the light. Sam, Amelia and Ana follow him in. "How much do you think a meadowsweet wreath would cost?" Dean asks as Sam shrugs his shoulders.
"A couple hundred dollars, at least." Sam says.
"This lady's giving them away for free? What do you think about that?" Dean asks.
"Well, sounds pretty suspicious." Sam says as Ana grabbed a Dr. Pepper from the fridge and walked to her and Dean's bed.
The brothers take off their jackets and sit on the edge of their beds, as Dean positioned Ana on his lap, as both of their love languages are physical touch. As they like being close to each other. "Remember that wreath Dad brought home that one year?" Dean asks.
"You mean the one he stole from, like, a liquor store?" Sam asks as Ana takes a drink from her soda.
"Yeah, it was a bunch of empty beer cans. That thing was great. I bet if I could look around hard enough, I could probably find one just like it." Dean says, as he has both his arms around Ana keeping her close to his chest.
"Alright, Dude...What's going on with you." Sam asks, as Ana knows where this is going.
"What?" Dean asks, slightly confused.
"I mean, since when are you Bing Crosby all of a sudden? Why do you want Christmas so bad?" Sam asks his brother as Ana looks down onto her lap.
"Why are you so against it? I mean, were your childhood memories that traumatic?" Dean asks as he gives Ana's free hand a squeeze.
"No, that has nothing to do with it." Sam says to Dean.
"Then what is it?" Dean asks, as the tension in the room is making Ana slightly uncomfortable, as she was never really good around confrontation and arguments. Never had, never will.
"I-I mean, I-I just...I don't get it. You haven't talked about Christmas in years. The last time I remember you talked about Christmas was three years before you came to get me." Sam says which was true.
"Well, yeah. This is my last year." Dean says, as Ana feels her world stop at the reminder. That's why she's not been her happy festive self. To be honest, she doesn't know if she will bake anything this year. Or any year, because Dean isn't going to be here anymore. Amelia turned over to Ana and saw that she got quiet, as she felt bad for her friend. She would to if she was in her shoes.
"I know...that's why I can't." Sam says as he lets out a small sigh.
"What do you mean?" Dean asks his brother.
"I mean, I can't just sit around, drinking eggnog, pretending everything's going to be okay, when I know next Christmas, you'll be dead. I just can't." Sam says. If Ana wasn't in Dean's arms she would have gotten up and left.
Ana has tears in her eyes at the painful reminder that this is Dean's last Christmas. The last year that she will see Dean. Her rock. Her world. Her everything. She went quiet, which was almost odd. As she always has something to say, even in moments like this.
