Chapter Three: Tuxedo

I found myself wrapped in a silky dressing gown, similar to the one Rosalie was wearing. Beneath it, I wore black panties, as the dress's style wouldn't allow for a bra. Carefully, I secured the silk robe around my waist, tying it snugly. I moved up the stairs and turned to the left, noticing Rosalie and Alice working on Bella.

My feet padded along the wooden floor as Alice stepped away from Bella's side, revealing Bella with her hair and makeup perfectly done. I instantly stopped in my tracks and gasped in awe.

"You look beautiful, Bella," I said softly, moving closer to her as I recovered from the mere shock. I had never seen her dolled up like this before. It was such a good look on her. Bella smiled at my comment, as her eyes wandered my own makeup and hair. "Rosalie outdid herself," I announced, glancing over at her with a smile. She returned the smile, clearly pleased with the compliment.

"Your dress is over here," Alice began, directing my attention towards her as she navigated to the back wall where the wardrobe stretched the entire length. Sorting through the clothes, I soon spotted Bella's wedding dress alongside my own. Alice pulled free mine from the rack it was hard to miss, as it was deep purple.

Alice lifted the dress off its hanger and presented it to me, and I eagerly moved closer to inspect it. Even hanging there, it looked stunning, and I couldn't wait to try it on. She passed it to me with a smile before returning to Bella to complete the final touches on her makeup, while Rosalie put the finishing touches on her hair.

"Alice? Bella?" A female voice echoed through the room a few moments later.

"In here, Mom," Bella replied, her voice carrying relief and anticipation. The click of heels approached rapidly. Suddenly, I heard a gasp as Alice stepped aside, allowing Bella's mom to see her.

"Oh my gosh!" she exclaimed in awe, hands flying to her mouth in shock. "You're so beautiful," she continued, her voice filled with emotion as she beheld her daughter in a new light. "Oh, honey... Crap! My mascara," Renee exclaimed, brushing a finger beneath her eyelashes to clear the tears threatening to smudge her makeup. Alice swiftly produced a handkerchief, offering it to Renee. "Thanks," she murmured gratefully to Alice, taking the handkerchief and gently dabbing away the tears. "Charlie, get in here," she turned back towards the entrance of the door, and waved her hand inwards, gesturing for Charlie to enter.

"You sure? I don't wanna," Charlie's voice echoed down the hallway before he entered, leaving his sentence unfinished. Bella immediately stood up as her dad walked in, dressed in a tuxedo that surprisingly suited him well.

"I know. I look hot," Charlie remarked, prompting laughter from all of us at his confident statement.

"We thought you needed something blue," Renee stated as Charlie opened the box he had carried in, resembling the one Rosalie had given me for the necklace.

"And something old... Besides your mother," Charlie joked, though his tone was playful enough to make it unclear if he was being serious.

Renee scoffed at Charlie's comment, turning sharply towards him. "Nice," she replied dryly, clearly not amused.

"It was Grandpa Swan's," Charlie stated, watching Bella take the comb that was offered to her.

"But we added the sapphires," Renee chimed in, pointing out the gemstones adorning the comb.

"It's beautiful, you guys," Bella responded warmly. "Wow. Thank you so much." She handed it over to Alice, settled back into the chair, and turned towards the mirror so Alice could position it in her hair.

"It's your first family heirloom," Renee continued, her voice tinged with emotion as she observed Alice delicately placing the comb on the back of Bella's hair. "Pass it on to your daughter, and her daughter after her." Each word left her mouth dripped with raw emotion, tears swelling in her eyes once again.

I noticed Bella glance at Rosalie and Alice in the mirror, silently acknowledging that she wouldn't have a daughter herself; instead, she was preparing to embrace a new life as a vampire, leaving behind her mortal existence.

"Mom, I love it," Bella exclaimed as she stood up quickly from the chair, eager to embrace her mother.

"Nope," Alice interjected swiftly, extending her arm to stop Bella before she could reach her mother. "No smudging my masterpiece," she remarked with a playful tone.

"Oh, she's right," Renee agreed, as we all chuckled at the fact. Alice hurried off to the wardrobe to retrieve the wedding dress.

"Mom, this is Charlotte," Bella started, introducing me as Renee and I met for the first time in person. Our eyes met, and I greeted her with a warm smile.

"Hi," I said politely.

"I've heard a lot about you, Charlotte," Renee responded warmly, smiling at me. "And it's all good things," she added with a soft chuckle, which made me chuckle along with her.

"I'm going to get dressed. I'll be back," I said, glancing at Bella who nodded in response. Walking towards the room's exit, I passed Charlie and Renee, offering them a quick smile before hurrying out and making my way back to the bathroom.

I descended the stairs, the wood beneath my feet echoing faintly in the quiet house. Finding the bathroom once more, I closed the door behind me with a soft click. A small smile played on my lips as I hung the dress on the back of the door, its handle proving quite handy.

With deliberate care, I untied the silk dressing gown from around me, feeling its fabric slide down my arms and pool at my feet. Stepping out of it, I reached for the dress, delicately removing it from the hanger. Lowering the dress, I positioned it just right to step into, ensuring the fabric cascaded smoothly around my legs. As I lifted it over my figure, I adjusted it into place, letting the straps rest over my shoulders.

I turned my body slightly away from the mirror, my gaze fixed on the back of the dress. Tilting my head as far as it would go, I inspected the loose straps that needed to be crossed and tied together. Normally, I might have asked for help, but I felt confident in my ability to handle this myself. With focused intent, I concentrated on the straps, willing them to respond to an unseen force. Magically, they began to move, crossing over each other and tying off securely. As they tightened, I felt the dress snugly lock into place against my body, perfectly adjusted.

Turning back to face the mirror, I smiled as I met the gaze of the woman staring back at me—a more polished version of myself, transformed by the occasion. I leaned forward to grab the velvet box I had brought with me, which contained a pair of earrings. Opening the box, I carefully lifted the earrings from their cushion and began to affix them to my earlobes. Each went in easily. I then adjusted them and made sure my necklace was centred perfectly.

I ran my hands down the dress, feeling the smooth fabric beneath my fingertips, smoothing out any wrinkles that might have formed.

Suddenly, a gentle knock echoed through the bathroom, prompting me to stride over and open the door. On the other side stood my Grams, and my eyes widened at the sight of her dress. She was clad in an elegant black gown, its skirt and sleeves adorned with intricate lace. Her wavy hair cascaded gracefully down the left side of her face, completing her sophisticated look.

"Grams!" I exclaimed in shock, marvelling at her stunning appearance. "You look absolutely beautiful!"

"Thank you, dear," she replied graciously, holding up my heels that dangled freely from her fingers. "I think you'll need these," she added with a knowing smile. Chuckling, I stepped back over to the sink as she let herself in and closed the door behind her. "Alice gave them to me," she added, as she handed over the heels.

I quickly slipped into the black strapped heels, finding that they fit perfectly. The straps crossed over the front of my feet, adding to the ensemble. Standing up, I steadied myself, ready to witness this wedding.

"You look stunning," my Grams remarked, her eyes welling up with tears that she managed to keep from falling, knowing it would ruin her makeup.

"Are you sure you'll be okay sitting next to Renee and Charlie? I can sit with you if you'd prefer," I said quickly, concerned about leaving her alone during the ceremony.

"Sweetheart, I'll be perfectly fine," she reassured me, stepping closer and clasping my hand in hers. "You're just a bench away," she added with a chuckle. "I'm off to mingle," she said with an oddly excited tone, which I was relieved to hear.

She released my hand and headed for the door, opening it and stepping out. After a moment, I followed suit, making my way back upstairs with my heels clicking against the steps. As I turned the corner, I didn't immediately spot Bella sitting on the chair. However, as I entered the room, there she stood in the centre, now dressed in her wedding gown.

Once more, I gasped in awe as I approached her, with Alice and Rosalie graciously stepping aside. "A true vision," I declared, admiring how beautifully the dress hugged her figure.

"Says you," Bella replied quickly, her eyes taking in my fully completed look.

"A compliment from the bride? I'll gladly accept it," I remarked with a hearty chuckle, and we all laughed together. "Edward is so lucky," I continued, making Bella chuckle at my remark. "Do you need anything before I head downstairs?" I asked, stepping closer and clasping her hands in mine, gazing into her eyes.

"No, I'm perfectly fine," Bella replied confidently, and she certainly seemed to be. I lingered, gently squeezing her hand, reluctant to leave and wanting to ensure she truly didn't need anything else. "Go," she urged, releasing my hands and giving me a gentle push toward the door.

"Okay," I replied, raising my fingers to my lips and kissing them, then extending my hand toward her, indicating the gesture was for her. I couldn't risk ruining Alice's masterpiece by kissing her cheek.

I left the room and descended the stairs, my heels clicking against the steps and the wooden floor. I continued until I reached the bottom, following the sound of lively chatter. Guests were starting to arrive, with a small crowd already gathering.

I descended the outside steps and followed the path, taking in the stunning wedding arch made of branches. The Cullens had truly outdone themselves. Rows of benches flanked on either side, with white wisteria cascading gracefully from the trees, on benches, and the ground. It creates a scene straight out of a fairy tale.

In the distance, I spotted Emmett's imposing figure mingling with guests. He stood out in his impeccably tailored tuxedo: a sleek black suit jacket over a crisp white shirt and tie, accented by a matching black waistcoat. There was even a white pocket square neatly tucked into the breast pocket of his jacket. His ensemble was perfectly complemented by his confident demeanour, and he looked absolutely striking.

A gentle breeze swept through, carrying my scent with it, and as it brushed past Emmett, his eyes immediately locked onto mine. I watched as his eyes widened in admiration, taking in my dress and my entire ensemble. He swiftly excused himself from the conversation and moved towards me, while I simultaneously moved towards him. We converged in the centre, meeting each other halfway with warm smiles.

"Wow," Emmett began and if he had a breath to give, it would surely be taken away. "You look incredible," his deep voice echoed in my ears as he approached within earshot.

"You look amazing too," my eyes roamed over his figure, a slight bite to my bottom lip before meeting his gaze again. It hugged every contour of his body, leaving me mesmerised.

"If I kiss you, will it mess up your look?" Emmett asked, his voice playful.

"Not a chance," I replied with a smile. He leaned down, our lips meeting in a tender, sweet kiss that lasted a few precious moments before we both pulled back.

I raised my hands to touch the stiff collar of his white undershirt, my fingers gliding down. "My God, you need to wear suits more often," I murmured.

"And you need to wear dresses more often," he retorted, his eyes lingering on my cleavage, clearly visible and accentuated by the dress. He held a smug smirk, clearly enjoying the view.

"Eyes up here, mister," I said playfully, gently lifting his chin with my hand until our gazes met, his golden eyes locking onto mine.

"You are truly one of a kind," Emmett's voice was soft and low, and I could tell he meant every word. "I'm so lucky to have you in my life," he continued, his words causing my eyes to well up with tears.

Words couldn't capture what I was feeling, so I leaned in and pressed a passionate, tender kiss to his lips. Every ounce of my emotions poured into that kiss, and I knew he felt them too. We broke the kiss after a few lingering moments, neither of us wanting it to end.

As I stared into his eyes, the words lingered on my mind and tongue, eager to be spoken. They needed to be said because I was bursting inside.

"Charlotte," my Grandmother's voice echoed from behind Emmett, prompting me to lean slightly and peer past him to see her approaching. "You both look..." She trailed off, seemingly at a loss for words. Emmett turned around and moved to stand next to me, wrapping an arm around my waist and pulling me closer to his side.

"Thank you, Grams," I replied sweetly, a wide smile spreading across my face.

"Alice mentioned you had a hand in this," she said, gesturing to the wisterias overhead. "They're beautiful. You've outdone yourself,"

"Alice is the true visionary," I responded, aware she was probably listening in, as it was hard to miss any conversation with their supernatural hearing.

"Don't give her all the credit," Emmett chimed in, his voice resonating in my ear. "I did some things too," he added, making the three of us laugh. "Come on, I'll introduce you to our cousins," Emmett continued, taking a step forward, his arm unwrapping from my side before his hand slipped into mine, pulling me along.

I glanced back at my Grams, who smiled at me with a small chuckle before she strolled back up the aisle to join Renee and her husband for a conversation.

Emmett guided us through the nearby benches, where I noticed Esme and Carlisle engaged in conversation with a group. Among them were four women and one man. Three of the women had blonde hair, while the fourth was brunette. The man was also brunette.

As we approached, their collective gaze swiftly turned towards us. I noticed the golden eyes they all shared, indicating they didn't feed on human blood.

"Everyone," Emmett began, stopping in front of the group. "Meet Charlotte." He let go of my hand and stepped aside, presenting me. I smiled warmly, my eyes sweeping down the line as they returned polite smiles. "This is Eleazar and Carmen," Emmett introduced, as the pair nodded to me. "And these are Irina, Tanya, and Kate," he continued, gesturing to the elegantly dressed women.

"Emmett has told us so much about you," Tanya said, her voice gentle and almost angelic, accompanied by a smile.

"In fact, everyone speaks highly of you," Kate added, nodding towards Carlisle, Esme, and the others.

"They are truly wonderful people," I replied, my eyes meeting Kate's. "They're like my second family," I admitted sincerely, and it was evident to everyone that I meant it.

Emmett returned to my side, wrapping his arm around my waist and pulling me close. The looks exchanged between the others were not of disgust or hate, but of relief and happiness, as if Emmett finding someone was a good thing.

We chatted about various topics, but the conversation mostly revolved around Edward and Bella and their wedding day...
