Chapter Eighteen: Imprinted

I spent a few hours with my Grams, talking and laughing together. She was particularly curious about how I had summoned the family grimoire, so I recounted everything I remembered in vivid detail. She listened intently, her eyes never leaving mine, absorbing every word. Once I finished, she didn't show any recognizable emotions; her expression remained composed as if she were carefully processing everything internally.

She explained that the Nexus Vorti had fuelled my magic, which in turn allowed me to conjure the tome from wherever it was hidden within the house. I accepted this possibility, as there was no other explanation for how I had managed to conjure it without ever having seen it. As for the voice I heard, she had no idea who it could have been. All I could tell her was that it was distinctly feminine.

When we were finished, I walked her out of the Cullens' home and wrapped her in a big hug. She responded with a warm kiss on my cheek. I promised her I'd be home in a few days. With a smile and a nod, she headed to her car. I waved goodbye until she disappeared from sight.

We took turns caring for baby Renesmee, though Rosalie mostly handled it while the rest of us marvelled at her. It took another day for Bella's heart to stop, and when it did, Emmett gave me a look that told me everything. I knew it had happened.

Bella needed space to adjust to her new life as a vampire and to gain control over her thirst around people. Renesmee was with Rosalie while Emmett and I were on the balcony, making out. My experience with the darkness didn't seem to change me; instead, it felt like it lifted something that was already within me. I felt like myself, though I couldn't truly put my finger on it.

Without warning, Emmett lifted me by the waist and gently placed me on the edge of the railing, our lips never parting. His kiss felt like heaven, every movement igniting a fire within me. As his tongue explored my mouth, it sent shivers down my spine, making the experience with him even more intoxicating. My hands ran through his dark locks, pulling him closer, deepening the kiss with a passion that made everything else fade away.

Our lips finally parted, and I gazed into his amber eyes. He was now fed and feeling like himself once again. "You drive me wild," Emmett growled, his voice rumbling from deep within his chest. His eyes roamed over my figure, likely undressing me with his gaze.

"You haven't seen anything yet," I said with a seductive tone, biting my lower lip. The move clearly drove him wild. Our lips met again, and he grasped my ass firmly, lifting me effortlessly from the railing. He held me close as we continued to kiss, our passion igniting.

A sudden cough broke the moment, causing us to pull apart and turn toward the doorway. There stood Jacob, his eyes darting between us.

"Hope I'm not interrupting," he said, his tone casual.

"Yes," Emmett replied with a smirk.

"No," I chimed in simultaneously. As he gently lowered me to the balcony floor, I straightened my clothes and ran a hand through my blond hair, trying to regain my composure.

"They're on their way back," Jacob informed us, before quickly retreating inside. His hasty exit suggested that our display of affection had made him uncomfortable. Emmett and I exchanged a knowing glance before laughing at Jacob's awkward exit.

"As much as I'd love to keep this going," I teased, shifting my focus to him as I draped my arms over his shoulders. His hands naturally settled on my waist, finding their perfect place. "We need to be there for Bella," I said softly.

"Or," he replied with a mischievous grin, "we sneak off to that meadow and continue our session." His eyes were filled with nothing but lust and desire, making a compelling case.

I groaned softly, showing him that the idea was just as tempting to me. My eyes flicked to his lips, and I leaned forward, brushing my own against his teasingly.

"Later," I whispered seductively, letting my lips graze his bottom one, leaving him wanting more. I stepped back, letting my arms slide off his shoulders while he watched me walk away. Halfway across the balcony, I turned my head and gave him a flirty look, biting my bottom lip to tempt him even more.

"Such a tease," Emmett remarked, his voice low and husky. I couldn't help but chuckle at his comment as he followed me through the balcony door and into the kitchen where the others were standing.

Rosalie held Renesmee in her arms as the others gathered around. By the next day, she had grown even more. Her rapid growth rate was astonishing, and it perplexed us all.

"It's lovely to see you happy," Esme's voice pierced the air, her eyes locking onto me with a soft, affectionate smile.

"I am happy," I replied, my mind drifting for a moment, questioning if I should feel this content. But there was nothing troubling me. I truly was happy.

"Only because of me," Emmett remarked, swinging his arm over my shoulder with a playful grin.

"You're one reason," I responded, tilting my head up to meet his gaze, my eyes twinkling with affection. He liked the sound of that, as he gently gripped my chin with his other hand, lifting it slightly as he leaned down and placed his lips upon mine. The kiss was electric, soft, tender—everything he embodied at times.

"Get a room," Jasper playfully remarked, causing a few laughs to erupt in the kitchen, and made us break from the kiss. Despite the interruption, our gazes lingered on each other, filled with affection. My heart swelled with a feeling I knew had to be love. The way Emmett's eyes sparkled when he looked at me, the way he touched me, and the electricity of his kiss all made me believe that this was the real thing. I felt a deep connection with him, one that filled my heart with joy and certainty.

Suddenly, the sound of heavy footsteps resonated through the hall. Jacob strode into the kitchen, having just emerged from wherever he had been. Emmett and I moved toward the nearby fireplace. He leaned casually against the wall, sideways, while I positioned myself in front of him, pressing half my weight against him as though using him as a supportive barrier.

"Welcome to the family," Esme's voice cut through the air, drawing my attention to Bella and Edward as they entered. My heart swelled with emotion at the sight of my best friend, now alive and thriving. Death becomes her.

"You look amazing Bella," Alice said with a bright smile, clearly delighted to see Bella now as a vampire.

Carlisle stepped aside with a warm smile, adding, "Someone's been waiting to meet you." Rosalie had her back to Bella.

"Rose," Edward called softly, and Rosalie turned around, holding baby Renesmee in her arms. The infant began to gurgle and make adorable baby noises, her eyes sparkling with curiosity as she gazed up at her mother. A wide smile spread across my face as Rosalie gently handed Renesmee to Bella. Bella took her daughter into her arms, and the soft cooing sounds from the baby were enough to melt anyone's heart.

Renesmee reached out with her tiny hand, touching Bella's cheek. At that moment, she began to share the first memories they had together, as she had done with all of us. The memories flickered briefly before Renesmee lowered her hand, returning to her peaceful demeanour.

"What was that?" Bella asked, her voice filled with confusion as she continued to look at her daughter.

"She showed you the first memory she has of you," Edward explained with a gentle smile.

"Show me how?" Bella's question was filled with genuine curiosity, her eyes still fixed on Renesmee. Edward chuckled softly, finding the question endearing and somewhat obvious.

"How do I hear thoughts? How does Alice see the future?" Bella's question hung in the air, filled with wonder and the desire to understand the extraordinary. "She's gifted," Edward concluded after a thoughtful pause.

Bella's eyes widened as she turned her gaze toward Carlisle. "I've only been out for two days?" she asked, her voice laced with disbelief. She knew that Renesmee, being a newborn, shouldn't have grown so quickly. The sight of her daughter appearing months old in just a matter of days was both astonishing and perplexing.

"Her growth rate is unprecedented," Carlisle replies.

"All right," Jake said, stepping closer to Bella and the baby. "That's enough experimenting for one day," he declared, extending his arms to gently take Renesmee from Bella. I couldn't help but wonder how Bella would react to Jake's imprinting on Renesmee.

"Jacob," Edward said sharply, his gaze fixed on him with a steely intensity. "She's doing great," we all knew Bella would never dare hurt or let anything bad happen to her daughter.

"Yeah, but let's not push it," Jacob countered, making another move towards the baby.

Bella's eyes lifted from her daughter to lock onto Jacob. "What's your problem?" she asked, clearly frustrated.

"Oh, do tell her, Jacob," Rosalie said, her smirk widening with delight at the unfolding scene.

"This should be good," Emmett added, his voice rumbling with amusement. I could practically feel his grin without even turning around.

Edward took Renesmee from Bella, who reluctantly passed her over before turning her full attention to Jacob.

"Look," Jacob began, his voice trembling slightly. "It's... a wolf thing," he stammered, clearly terrified of Bella's reaction.

"What's a wolf thing?" Bella demanded; her anger barely contained as she fixed him with a fierce glare.

Jacob glanced at Rosalie, but she had already moved to stand beside Edward, ready to take Renesmee. "Um... You know we have no control over it. We can't choose who it happens with. And it doesn't mean what you think, Bella. I promise," he rushed to explain.

"Take Renesmee out of the room," Bella instructed firmly, her focus narrowing on Jacob as she wanted her daughter away from the impending confrontation. Jacob let out a nervous 'oh,' fully aware that the situation was about to escalate. "Edward, don't touch me right now. I don't want to hurt you," I see Edward drop his hand from her shoulder, knowing there was nothing he could do to simmer her rage.

A terrified 'oh' escaped Jacob's lips as Bella moved swiftly. Gripping him firmly by the nape of his neck, she forced him to lean forward, eliciting a grunt from him. With determined strength, she dragged him out of the kitchen, keeping his head bowed as she pulled him along.

Everyone trailed behind Bella and Jacob as they moved through the hallway and descended the stairs. Emmett and I brought up the rear. From my vantage point on the stairs, I watched as Bella hurled Jacob off the steps and onto the ground below.

"You imprinted on my daughter?!" Bella's voice rang out in a furious shout as the rest of us emerged into the yard. Emmett leaned casually against the doorframe, while I stood just a few inches in front of him.

"It wasn't my choice!" Jacob responded swiftly, his tone defensive.

"She's a baby!" Bella's anger was palpable, her voice rising in fury.

"It's not like that," Jacob defended, his tone urgent. "You think Edward would let me live if it was?" He gestured towards Edward, who stood casually leaning against the railing that encircled the house.

"I'm still debating it," Edward responded coolly.

"I've held her once!" Bella shouted, descending the steps with a determined stride. "One time, Jacob! And already you think you have some moronic wolf claim on her?!" She moved in close, her face inches from Jacob's. "She's mine!" Bella declared, her voice fierce, before delivering a powerful punch to Jacob's gut. The force of her strike sent him flying through the air before he crashed to the ground.

At that moment, wolfish growls echoed through the yard as Seth and Leah appeared, their expressions tense.

"It's fine, Leah," Jacob said soothingly, attempting to calm the situation, before turning his attention back to Bella.

"You're going to stay away from her," Bella warned her voice a sharp edge of fury.

"You know I can't do that," Jacob retorted, his defiance clear. Bella's anger flared at his response, and she delivered another powerful punch to his chest. The impact sent him crashing to the ground, where he skidded and rolled several times.

"Stop her, Edward," Esme's voice was soft but laced with concern, her eyes fixed on the escalating scene.

"He said it's fine... She's amazing, right?" Edward's gaze was filled with admiration, his awe apparent.

"Do you remember how much you wanted to be around me three days ago? That's gone now, right?" Jacob spoke softly; his brows furrowing together.

"Long gone," Bella snapped back at Jacob, her anger undiminished.

"Because it was her," Jacob began, trying to explain. "From the beginning, it was Nessie who wanted me there."

"Nessie?!" Bella interrupted, her rage reaching a boiling point. "You nicknamed my daughter after the Loch Ness monster?!" Her voice thundered as she advanced on Jacob.

At that moment, Seth growled and lunged to defend Jacob. Bella, moving with effortless strength, grabbed Seth by his massive frame and threw him against a nearby tree. A loud whimper echoed through the forest as Seth hit the ground, injured but not severely.

"Seth, are you ok?" Jacob asked, his voice filled with concern.

Bella turned quickly to Seth, her anger fading to reveal genuine remorse. "Seth, I'm sorry," she apologized earnestly, her tone softening.

"He'll be ok," Jacob reassured, shifting his focus back to Bella as Leah moved to comfort her brother. Jacob took slow, deliberate steps toward Bella. "Bella," he began, his voice earnest, "You know me better than anyone. All I want is for Ness," Bella must have given him a look, which made him halt in finishing his nickname for Renesmee. "Renesmee to be safe. Happy... Look, nothing ever made sense before. You. Me. Any of it. And now I understand why. This was the reason," his words seemed to convince Bella of his intentions.

Bella took it better than I expected. I was imagining her putting his head on a stick.
