"I should just die." Ruri voiced out, a grim look on her pale face. Her eyes were dull and the light in them were lost as if she had lost hope.

"Go ahead." Yuishiro said without a care.

Ruri stared. "You.."

"Riri-san." A voice suddenly said.

"Tamayo-sama!" Yuishiro exclaimed aloud.

The fair demon smiled, her beauty was like no other and as Ruri gazed at her...she isn't the least bit surprised why Yuishiro fell for her.

Lady Tamayo does not act like a demon. In fact, she's an angel trapped in a demon's body. Sometimes she reminds Ruri of Oyakata-sama. Both of their bodies were cursed.

If only they could live normal lives..

"Riri-san, please don't lose hope." The woman pleaded.

"I don't know what to do anymore. I can only endure so much. It's been almost two years since I was given that accursed blood. Two years of agony." Ruri closed her eyes. "I've been prolonging my death for far too long. If I disappear now, I won't be forced to kill people."

Tamayo shook her head. "Kamado Tanjiro and his sister, Nezuko, can help you. "

Ruri froze.

"Nezuko doesn't eat human flesh so in exchange, she sleeps. I suspect that her affinity to protect humans despite being a demon is not only because of her strong willpower. There must be something more. "

"Come to think of it." Yuishiro began. "That girl acted weird.. patting my head as if we're close..! Tch..!"

Tamayo's eyes hardened. "Riri-san.. please approach Kamado Tanjiro for help. You've already lasted this long. Don't give up."

Ruri stared down at her clawed hands.

"Do I deserve to live anymore?"

"N-"

"You do!" Tamayo said urgently. "Riri-san, I've never seen a demon with enough willpower like you who can resist eating humans for this long. Even though there's blood, you hardly flinch or act on your urges. Someone as kind as you deserve happiness."

In the background, Yuishiro was glaring as if he was threatening Ruri not to further aggravate the black haired beauty.

Ruri averted her gaze.

"Okay."

Ruri didn't immediately go to see Tanjiro. Instead, she came back to her house after many, many months of absence since she was staying with Lady Tamayo and Yuishiro to help them find a cure.

To her surprise, the place was absent of dust and cobwebs. It looked as if it had been maintained and cleaned on a daily basis.

She ran her fingers along the wall. When she checked, there was not a single speck of dust.

How odd.

She went to her bedroom and saw that everything had remained unchanged. This place was the only thing that was left uncleaned. It's as if they were scared of opening this room.

'This is where I woke up two years ago and this is where I discovered that I became a monster'

She stepped inside and slowly closed the door.

Memories upon memories piled up inside the room.. it was all making her emotional. She placed a hand on her the handle of her sword.

'There.. I used to clean my blade while sitting there. And I used to sew my ruined clothes over there too.'

Ruri shakily released her hands.

The door opened.

She tensed up.

"So it's true."

Ruri's eyes dilated. That voice had been the center of her dreams and nightmares.

Her ears twitched as she heard him approaching.

"Stop." She said in a cold voice, forcing all of her emotions away.

Her back was still turned so she could hide her crying face. The dark provided a good cover too. It was a good idea to come during nighttime. She was still not used to traveling in the shadows.

The footsteps didn't stop. Ruri grabbed her sword and turned around, pointing the end of the blade at the intruder's throat.

"I told you to stop. "She said through narrowed eyes.

He flinched, out of shock from her unkind tone and hostility or from her demonic appearance. The horns and claws were a dead giveaway.

And even if she were to hide them, something had change in her aura. She truly was no longer a human.

"Riri..you.."

Ruri's eyes narrowed. "Turn around. Go back and leave this place. You saw nothing. You saw no one. Hoshiki Ruri died a long time a-"

His face exploded into fury. "Like hell!"

"..." Her lips pressed into a thin line.

"I knew it. You lied. You didn't leave because you felt like it but because there was something more. And you didn't tell me!" His veins were bulging angrily and she was almost scared at the fact that they might burst.

He grabbed her sword with his bare arms. Ruri's whole body tensed up and she dropped her sword immediately, prepared to run.

'Not him..' Her eyes teared up again. If she were to smell his blood, she was not sure if she could turn her back.

She was about to jump through the window but something went barreling towards her path. She ducked then jumped, sinking her claws on the ceiling.

"Don't runaway, dammit! Don't fuck with me! It's all you ever do!"

Ruri turned her head and gazed at her sword that was stuck on the floor.

"You turned into a demon.. if Oyakata-sama hadn't told me... I would have remained stupid waiting for you to come back home! You suicidal bitch!" He yelled furiously.

Ruri blinked. Oyakata-sama told him? Did the others knew as well?

"It's because you left on your own without a word! If you had told me you were going to look for that bastard brother of yours.. I WOULD HAVE COME! I would have been there!"

Her eyes widened.

"You've always been stupid but I didn't think you'd be this stupid! You left knowing that I would be waiting! He's your brother but aren't I your family too?!! What have we been doing all this time then?!"

He felt that way? Did she really mattered to him? The same way she would always think about him every night?

"Two years ago.. when that idiot-" Giyuu?"--said he found you, bloodied and injured. Did you think I wouldn't have cared?!" His lips curled into an angry snarl. "You didn't even show your face after months and you have the nerve to walk up to me as if nothing happened!" His body shook.

"Then so suddenly... you said you would retire and you were even smiling as if it wasn't a big deal. Do you think this is some kind of joke to you?! I was happy that you stopped wielding a sword. It should have been that way since I was supposed to protect you and Genya!"

Ruri opened her mouth but he cut her off.

"The both of you could have lived a normal life! You could have been far away from demons and I would have done the job of killing those bastards just to keep both of you safe! But you didn't stay put.. not only did you retire but you disappeared without a word!"

She remembered the fury in his face. How shock he was that she was leaving the corps so suddenly after her mission with Genya.

"You didn't tell me what happened! You didn't trust me enough! If Oyakata-sama didn't tell me, I would have remained ignorant not knowing what happened to you!"

Ruri dropped down on the floor and stood up.

"Say something dammit! Explain yourself! Give me one good reason not to behead you right now!" His clenched fists were shaking and this time, he drew his sword, pointing it at her.

Ruri smiled.

"I love you, Nemi."
