V / VI / ????
WHILE THE SUN slowly drowned into a sea of dark, nightly shades, the moon rose high amid a thousand glimmering stars and glowed like a golden flame in the middle of the night sky.
The Casino's prestigious lights shone from the windows and brightened the inside, adding to the entertaining atmosphere.
At one of the tables sat the Devil amongst some of his workers, his yellow eyes glimmered while he studied the dice in his furry paws. At his right sat King Dice, awaiting his turn anxiously, as his throw would decide the rest of this evening and eventually change the course of the timeline they were in.
Cuphead and Mugman had bet their paycheck in exchange for a special slumber party with some of the casino's workers; and an advanced pay.
Shortly explained, if one of the players rolled two of the same number five times in a row, the crew, which consisted of King Dice, Mr.Wheezy, Chips Bettingam and the Devil, would have to stay overnight at the casino with Cuphead and Mugman. And the Devil would have to give them their paycheck early.
If no one managed to get five consecutive, same-numbered throws in an hour, the Devil would take back half of their paycheck for this month, and the cups would have to take over some shifts from the other members of the crew the next month.
Not that fair, but Mugman was okay with it.
And why were they playing this game?
Well, Mugman suggested so after he had a strange dream, which he wasn't too keen on telling, so no one pressured him. Perhaps he was lying.
Perhaps not.
The dice flew onto the table, turning in the air and landing on one of the dice's faces. One die displayed the number two, whilst the other displayed the number six. The Devil shrugged and handed his right-hand man the ivory-coloured cubes.
"Dice, one more same-numbered throw, and we're fucked." He whispered.
King Dice had already thrown the same numbers two times, one more time and he'd have to spend the night in the Casino alongside Cuphead and the other workers.
And the Devil.
The man's cheeks flushed to a rosy shade of pink, lightly startled by the thought. He threw the dice in the air, emerald eyes glowing.
SNAKE EYES
fuck.
Cuphead sprung up from his seat and began running around the casino, laughing and yelling "Slumber Party!" over and over again. The Devil groaned and buried his face in his hands.
Chips and Wheezy looked at each other, rolling their eyes.
Meanwhile, Mugman sighed in relief, "Thank God..", he muttered.
The Devil frowned at the boy, rolling his eyes. He hated hearing his father's name; he hated how easily It Rolls off of People's tongues.
A sigh left his lips as he stood up "Alright Pipsqueaks, you're staying, just don't get too excited." He groaned. "Now all of you, go do your damn jobs."
The Devil watched as everyone left in discontent. Everyone except King Dice.
The man sat still at the table, leaning against the wooden chair. His gloved hands kept nervously scratching his arm.
Lucifer gazed at King Dice, admiring the gorgeous work of art that was his right-hand man.
His gaze softened and one of his paws found its way on Dice's shoulder.
He lightly rubbed it, receiving a thankful smile from the other man.
They didn't need words to understand each other.
They never did.
"Well, that was uhm, quite the impressive roll." The Devil stammered, chuckling softly afterwards.
King Dice rolled his eyes, "Oh, spare me the compliments." he said sarcastically.
"So, uhm, I should get back to work." Lucifer shrugged and took his hand back.
King Dice smirked, "Yeah, go back to doing the job that I do for you." he shifted in his chair.
"Oh shut It." The Devil grumbled and Walked away to his office.
Meanwhile, the man stayed at the table, recalling what Mugman had told him about the Dream.
Mugman only trusted his Dream to him. He begged King Dice to use his powers and let all of them stay here because something terrible would happen if all of them went home. For they will perish if they don't listen to the prophecies.
So, King Dice decided to roll the dice with his powers, allowing him to decide the numbers.
All he knows, is that Mugman is right.
For he too, heard the prophecies.
And for he too, saw the tears of Achilles streaming down his face in the cave.
