Midoriya sat in a cafe booth, completely alone. He wore a couple of layers of robes, covering his school uniform that he wore underneath. The robes were colored darkly, an array of blacks and greys. While they were hooded, he kept the hoods down, which allowed for his wild green hair to stick up at every angle. A tall, pointed and brimed hat sat ontop of his head, bent over slightly and light grey in color. The hat's brim folded upwards, held up by a star shaped pin. He wore a pendant around his neck, which looked like a poiton bottle containing some leaves. The sleeves of his robes were large and baggy, long enough to cover his hands. Dark green runes were stitched into the outer robe and his hat, seeming almost decorative. In reality, the runes would streagthen his magic while he wore the clothing. He wore tall, black boots, decorated with stitched-on swirls and golden buckles. Golden threads hung from the collor of his robe, which could be used to tighten or loosen the collor. He wore some stackable chokers around his neck, most of them being enchanted in some way.

Just by looking at him, you could tell that he was a witch. Not that Midoriya minded that. He wouldn't say it directly, but he took pride in his magical skills. Besides, in this place, most everyone was involved with the occult in some way. He blocked out the sounds of other people chatting to each other about who knows what, he emerald eyes squinted as he focused on his single task at hand. That task would be making a staff. His old one had been ruined by Bakugou's explosions, along with one of his hero analysis notebooks. Didn't Bakugou know Midoriya worked hard on those? And anyways, weren't his lackeys telling him not to mess with the young witch, since he practiced dark magic?

To be honest, Midoriya didn't really need a staff, but his magic was safer and more controled that way. Besides, Midoriya liked crafting things. It was always satisfying to turn materials into something much more. And it was nice to see how he could improve his art. Similar to his magic, he always took a secret pride to his creations. Not to an unhealthy level, of course. He was well aware of all of his flaws. Actually, he was pretty self-consious of them, some might even say insecure. But, could you blame him for his insecurities? Even though no one directly insulted him anymore, ("You don't want to upset him. He could hex you with ease") he still heard rumors being whispered about him. He was the quirkless nerd who could curse you for life if he wanted. He supposed that was what he got for trying to learn dark magic.

He hummed to himself as he worked, carving the long block of wood into what would become his new staff. No one in the cafe questioned the young witch, most of them knew of him already anyway. He did come to this cafe often, since most of the people there weren't very judging of his lifestyle. He couldn't say the same of his mom, or his classmates, though... His mom was definitely loving, sure, but she didn't exactly like his medling in the world of magic. Midoriya had convinced himself that she was just worried for him. Dark magic was certainly a dangerous practice, he knew. He still remembered the time he summoned an evil spirit on accident, and got possesed because of it. Even years later, he constantly checked to make sure he wasn't being haunted or possesed.

"...Sir? Hello?" A voice cut through his concentration, and someone tapped on his shoulder. He jumped up, hitting his head on the seat. Midoriya turned to look at the person, emerald eyes meeting chocolate colored ones. In front of him was a short girl, with chestnut colored hair, and wide brown eyes, as well as a permanent blush on her cheeks. Behind her was a boy with a bird head, the feathers were all inky black, and he had narrowed, red eyes. Midoriya didn't recognize either of them, which ment they could potentially be threats to him. And, did Midoriya sense some traces of light magic off of the girl? That couldn't be good for a dark magic user like himself. Still, he gave a small smile, and said, "Yeah? Can I help you?"

The girl replied with, "we were wondering if we could sit here? All the other seats were taken." The bird boy seemed to be inspecting him closely, and Midoriya couldn't tell whether it was out of curiosity, or trying to analyse the enemy. Either way, he didn't apprciate it, though he said nothing of it, "Well, I don't see why not. Surely, you don't mind if I continue working on this?" Midoriya could keep a calm act. He didn't want to atagonize them just because the girl seemed to have light magic. He had enough to worry about as it was, and both of these two were unknown factors. They sat down across from him, and the girl said, "Nope, we don't mind! Right, Tokoyami-kun?" The bird headed boy- Tokoyami, it would seem- shrugged, before saying, "What is it, anyway..?"

Midoriya was then torn between two options. He didn't want to seem rude by dismissing the question, but he wasn't sure if he wanted these two knowing of his dark magic if the girl hadn't already detected it.

Uraraka and Tokoyami easily felt the change in the air after Tokoyami asked the question. The already strange aura surronding the boy became even weirder, if that was possible. He seemed almost skeptical of them, and even more so of the question. Just when Tokoyami was about to take the question back, though, the boy said, "It's simply a woodsworking project, nothing much really." He gave a warm smile, but the look behind his eyes showed something else entirely, something unreadable. Looking at his eyes for very long made them both uneasy. Tokoyami nodded slowly, disbelief evident. Uraraka had to hold back a chuckle, he clearly thought that it was some sort of magical item the boy was working on.

Before anymore could be said, a waiter came over, asking for their orders. Uraraka and Tokoyami asked for boba tea, and the green haired boy simply said "The usual, please", giving a small bow that the pair thought was unnessecary. He then seemed to hyper focus of his task, leaving Uraraka and Tokoyami to take in their surrondings. Some people had crystal balls with them, some seemed to be doing rituals, and some were playing with Ouija boards. The more they saw, the more unnerved they got. "What's with this place..?" Uraraka asked, and the boy across from them didn't look up as he said, "ah, most people who come here like to mingle within the ocult."

Uraraka pulled her bag up, and said, "In that case, I'll set up a rune to keep dark magic and evil spirits away from this booth."

╚»★«╝ _ ╚»★«╝

'Oh no... My runes will cancel out her spell, then she'll figure me out!!'

Midoriya's head shot up, and he shook his head, saying, "No, no, that won't be nessicary! I-I'm sure they already have something to p-protect from that k-kind of thing..!" She looked at him, "they don't, otherwise those rituals wouldn't be working" Midoriya hesitantly nodded. He knew that she was completely right, but he also knew that this wasn't going to end well. Some of the runes on his cloak functioned to cancel out dark magic canceling spells, as Midoriya felt vunerable without his magic. That was why he always wore his enchanted chokers and necklace, and why he usually had his robes and hat with him, along with his staff. Thing is, he couldn't turn the runes off without taking off his robes, and Midoriya definitely didn't feel comfortable taking it off.

He watched as she set up the rune, using some sort of light purple dust. She recited a spell, and as soon as she finished, Midoriya felt his power dampen. He hated the feeling, and had to restrain himself from destroying the rune right there. Not that it mattered, it would cancel out soon. The runes on his cloak started to glow a bright green, which competed with the white glow of her rune. His runes got brighter, as hers dimmed. She stared at him, shock evident, and Midoriya opened his mouth in an attempt to find the right words. The dust that made up her rune blew away, and the runes Midoriya wore stopped glowing. "What...?" the girl questioned, dumbfounded. After a few seconds, Midoriya said, "I never did introduce myself... Izuku Midoriya, a dark witch."

Anger.

The emotion took over the girl's face. The way her soft features morphed into a look of pure, unadultered rage. It terrified him to no end, even if the cloud of dark magic in his eyes refused to let it show. His body began to tremble, and he placed his hands in front of him for some form of protection. He wouldn't use his magic unless she did first. Or, if she called a dual.. A dual, when witches challanged each other to a magical fight. Usually, there were spectators to them. In a dual, anything goes, as long as no one interfers during it and quirks aren't used. Midoriya had never been in one before, despite being a user of dark magic. He never saw a reason to do so. But the girl across from him, she seemed so very angry that he used dark magic. Tokoyami seemed more suprised than anything. They clearly didn't know about his magic before hand. "I-I'm sorry... m-my r-runes s-sorta just d-do that on th-their own... I-I don't l-like being u-unable t-to use m-my magic... p-please d-d-don't be m-mad...." Midoriya couldn't help his studder. She scoffed, "I'm not falling for that. Dual. Now." She then pushed herself up into a standing position, but Midoriya curled up on himself. "H-here..? W-we m-m-might hurt a b-bystander..!"

A shadowy being came out from behind Tokoyami, grinning. "Nonsense!! Ura-chan will use her forcefield spell! This'll be good!!" Midoriya now felt the eyes of a crowd of people on him, and realized there was no backing down now. He sighed, and mumbled out a quick spell, which finished his staff in an instant. It looked like a leafless tree branch, knotted and twisted. It reminded him of one of those spooky trees you'd see in movies. It was topped with a cresent moon shape, which was painted white. He would have prefered to hand make it, but this worked as well. He pulled a leave out of his necklace, and placed it on the moon shape, causing for it to be absorbed. "Fine then.... I'm going in fully equiped, so if you want to use anything, I'd suggest you go get it... and, keep in mind that you asked for this.."

The girl smiled at him, "Oh, I have everything I need." She held up her bag, for everyone to see. Midoriya only spared it a glance, and straightened his hat, "Lets get on with it, then.."

Uraraka began setting up the forcefield spell, creating a large areana for them to use, while making sure no one else was inside. People started making bets on who would win.

"Midoriya will definitely win! He's not someone to mess with"

"Nah, Midoriya has strong magic, but he doesn't like violence. Plus, I'm doubtful he'd attack a girl. She'll win for sure!"

"You think he cares that she's a girl? When he's determined, nothing gets in his way. YOU GO MIDORIYA!!! KICK ASS!!!"

Midoriya grinned at them, giving a thumbs up, "Thanks, I'll try!" He turned to Uraraka again, "Anything you wanna add before we begin..?" Admitably, the dark magic user didn't know much about duals, and hoped she might reveal any hiden rules he wasn't aware of. She nodded, "Yes, actually. Firstly, I'm Ochaco Uraraka, a light witch." He hummed in acknowledgement, and she continued, "Secondly, I think we should have a deal, something to motivate us in our fight. If I win, you can't use dark magic anymore. And if you win..?" Midoriya shook his head, "no way am I agreeing to that. You think this is like one of those cartoons where the dark witch is a villain who'll agree to something like that, and you think that by fighting me, you'll be some hero. I can tell by the look in your eyes. I'm not some cocky villain that'll underestimate the enemy. There's a chance I'll lose too you, and I'm not willing to give up my magic. I told you already, it makes me uncomfortable when I can't use it." After a second, though, he said, "Actually, in that case... If I win, you can't use your quirk, nor your light magic. Only dark magic"

Everyone watching instantly could tell that Midoriya was mad. They all knew that he was quirkless, the reason he decided to learn magic in the first place. Uraraka seemed suprised by the request. "Isn't that a bit unfair? You'd still be able to use your quirk" She said. Midoriya laughed, although the laugh sounded cold, "Actually, no. I'm quirkless, and I'm not capable of using light magic!! Without my magic, I'm completely defenseless!! I'm still leaving you with some form of self defense if I win!! Unless you want to back down from the deal..?" Uraraka's expression softened, "you.. use dark magic because you don't have anything else to use..?" Midoriya nodded, "yeah, that's what I said."

The force field went down. "Sorry. I... had assumed you were using dark magic to hurt people... That was wrong of me." Midoriya stared at her, confused, "your.... saying sorry? To me...?" She nodded.

Dark Shadow groaned, "man, that was anti-climatic"

Anger and darkness took over Midoriya's mind. "You think you can just appologize and it'll all be better?!"

He started changing into something else.
