ғʟᴀsʜʙᴀᴄᴋ...

Tyler's boots crunch against the gravel as he cools down after his round. He had a great ride, and one of his highest times he's ever gotten, though a couple of his fingers may be broken, that's not what he was worried about right now.

As he spins on his heel, he crashes into a body.

"Woah, sorry—" He rushes to apologize, pausing when he comes face to face with just the woman he wanted to see. "Sutton Presley." He smirks.

"Oh." She rolls her eyes, crossing her arms immediately. "Can't you watch where your pacing back and fourth, or have you fallen off your horse one too many times you can't see straight?" Sutton instantly remarks, remembering him from earlier.

"I'm Tyler." He sticks his hand out. "Owens. You may have heard my name be announced." He motions up at the rusty speakers that are older than dirt.

"And why would I have done that when I have far better things to do." She hums, the corners of her lips tugging up.

As he chuckles his eyes move to Sutton's outfit... and it's not what she had on for singing. She has on barrel racing gear.

His eyebrows pull together. "You're competing?"

Now it's her turn to let out a chuckle. "Mmm, not to pretty to get dirty around here, am I?"

"I-uh-" For once Tyler Owens is speechless. He never expected her to be a rider.

"Well this has been fun." She muses, turning to leave.

This woman is maddening.

"So, did I 'stand out'." He tosses out before she can fully turn.

She shifts from one leg to the other, jutting her hip out. "My grandpa says all cowboy riders are the same."

Tyler laughs, shaking his head. "Well, I don't think that's a very ass-"

"He was a bull rider himself." She cuts in, shutting Tyler right up.

"Ah, mmm, okay, that's fair. Smart man." He nods quickly, smiling in defeat before moving some gravel around with his boot. "Is he here?"

"Hmm?"

"Is your grandpa here?"

Sutton pops her lips together. "Who wants to know?"

"Well, I'd love to meet the man who gave his granddaughter such great advice." Tyler dips his head towards her.

"Shame." She pouts, faking a frown. "Next time."

Before Tyler can say anything else, the speaker cracks drawing their attention up as they announce the next competition. "Well, that's me." Sutton brightens up, looking back at Tyler directly. "Wish me luck." She says mockingly.

"Good luck, Sutton Presley." Tyler drawls, happy to at least know her name now. "Wait, I didn't get your phone number!" He calls after her.

"Cause I didn't give you one." She hollers back over shoulder, jogging off.

"Dang it!" Tyler kicks the ground, stirring up dust. Playing hard to get... a challenge Tyler Owens will gladly take on, as he's never backed away from such before.

He nods to a few people that walk by before he takes off to the stands, suddenly very interested in watching the barrel racing rather than flirting or talking to the crowd of fans.

Tyler sits back waiting a few riders before it was finally her turn. They call her name and then she begins and Tyler is instantly sucked in, just as he was with her singing. He's watched plenty of barrel racing growing up, but the way Sutton rode as if she's floating, riding effortlessly, he wouldn't be surprised if she didn't break a sweat.

A woman who can ride, sing, and looked like that?! Made the flirtatious Tyler Owens sweat just thinking about it. He's never had any girl not immediately fall to her knees for him— and sure does that sound horrifically arrogant? Yes. But Tyler wasn't oblivious or not self aware. He knows his looks, charming smile, wild side, and his cowboy label made him pretty much a shoe-in for any girl in the state of Arkansas.

Except Sutton Presley.

And he was gonna figure out why. He'll take the dare, he's never been one to settle for anything less.

Once she was done riding she came to a slow stop, lifting her hat and waving her hand around she looks out to the crowd... eyes landing on none other than Tyler, who's standing and clapping extra loud for her benefit. She blows out a scoff, shaking her head as he nods to her with wink, extending his applause out towards her direction.

Cowboys... Sutton thinks to herself as she guides her house out of the ring. Always feel the need to show out and prove themselves.

As the sun begins to set, Tyler finally decides to call it a night and head out. As his boots crunch their way to the parking lot once again, he looks over at the riders area and notices Sutton talking to an older man.

Guess her grandfather is here, he thinks to himself.

Unable to control himself, he makes his way closer to her as she hugs the man and they part ways.

"Oh, good Lord." She jumps when turns to find Tyler a few feet away. "At this point, I'd think you're stalking me." Her hands rest on her hips.

"Wha-" Tyler brings his hand up to his heart, gasping in offence. "Me? A participant in this event myself and at a public place, no, how dare you accuse me of such."

He earns an eye roll from her.

"When do I get to see you again?" Tyler asks, taking a step closer.

"Hopefully never." She smirks, driving Tyler crazy.

"If only you could get so lucky." He grins. "I can be very persistent."

"So I can tell." She nods, brows lifting.

"Quite the thorn in the side."

"Mmm."

"Sutton, come on, them milkshakes won't drink themselves!" A man hollers and Sutton let's out a huff.

"That old man is so impatient." She purses her lips, glancing over her shoulder before looking back at the cowboy in front of her. "Well, see ya, Tyler Owens." Sutton emphasizes.

He holds in his groan at his name rolling of his tongue as he watches her ass bounce as her figure disappears in a sea of people and horses everywhere.

Tyler hopes it wasn't his last time to see her...

And thankfully, and unfortunately— however you look at it... it wasn't.

Tyler groans, rolling over on the motel mattress, as the sunlight streaming through the blinds hitting his eyes. He rakes a calloused hand down his face while staring up at the ceiling, the soft music playing from the radio.

"Go ahead and regret me, but I always will too regret you."

At first it's just background noise... He shuts his eyes, trying to fall asleep.

"Go ahead and regret me, but I always will too regret you." The words fill his ears and his eyes pop back open.

"Go ahead and regret me, but I always will too regret you..."

No, no—

"That was rising country music star, Sutton Presley, with her new single that she debuted on her American tour 'Regret Me.'" The radio host says.

They go on to talk about her tour and Tyler can't take it anymore. He shoots out of bed, scoops up the radio, ripping the plug out of the wall, and stomps to the door. Ripping it open he launches the radio over the ledge of his floor, sending it flying through the air, crashing down to the ground beside their van.

Lilly jumps, pulling her head out of the trunk. "What the hell was that?"

Boone looks up at Tyler from same spot he left him in last night, sprawled out on the log. "What did that radio do to you?" He calls up to Tyler.

"I'll be ready in twenty." Tyler grumbles before storming back into his room, slamming the door shut.

"More to you to!" Boone shouts at the door. "Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed." He drops his head back, chuckling, as he looks at Lilly.

"Whew." She shakes her head with widened eyes.

A nightmare is what happened, Tyler rests his head against the door. Get it to-fucking-gether, he scolds himself.

Today was a new day. Today was gonna be a fun day of chasing down tornadoes and firing shit off at 'em.

If only Tyler truly believed that.
