Scene Six

Hermes Delivery Express

°♡°

The en-suite in my apartment isn't too flashy and expensive. It's not too cheap either but it's decent enough to make anyone feel at home and comfortable.

It's medium in size with a medium-sized bed positioned at the corner just by the window where you can see the view of the other apartment complexes. There's a round rose gold analogue clock along with other accessories hanging on the peach-cream wall, so it doesn't look plain and boring. There's also a mahogany desk and office chair right next to the bed. The closet and wardrobe are located on the other side of the room, right next to the bathroom.

As I said, not too flashy, not too cheap. But decent enough for anyone to live in.

"It's not much but it's pretty decent," I say as Feenyx walks inside and inspects the room.

"Well, my apartment back on Olympus is far much better than this room but it will do." She sits down on the bed and lets out a satisfying squeal. "Oh! This bed is comfy."

"You have apartments where you're from?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, why?" she asks back.

"I thought you'd still be living in the ancient times given your attire." I point out.

"Oh." She laughs. "Not at all. All the three realms basically advanced and modernised along with the Mortal Realm. The only thing that hasn't changed is our clothes."

I hum slightly intrigued by this new information. At least I don't have to deal with her having cultural shock and having to explain everything she might not understand about human technology.

"I'll leave you to settle down. I'm heading to bed." I announce.

"But it's like," she looks at the clock. "almost six p.m."

"Lady, I woke up with the worst hangover and have a mythological nature spirit living in my apartment. Some sleep is definitely well deserved." I deadpan.

"Fair enough." She concedes.

"Good. Make sure you turn off the lights. Don't touch anything that ain't yours. Don't make any noise. Ask me if you need anything." I say.

"Aye, aye, captain. You won't even know I'm here." She salutes.

With one brief look, I turn my heels and exit the room. Not long after that, there is a knock on my door, which causes me to stop in my tracks on my way to my room.

I stare at the door, knitting my eyebrows perplexed at who decided to come this late to my apartment. It hasn't been long since Vinny left and I'm not expecting any visitors.

I walk over to the door and open it. There, I see a russet-haired man wearing a white toga over his athletic build that stops right above his knees, showing off his strong thighs along with a pair of lace-up brown sandals with golden wings on his ankles. He's also wearing a silver helmet with a pair of golden wings. The plastic clipboard in his hands does not go unnoticed.

"Salutations, Mortal. I am the Messenger God, Hermes with a delivery." He introduces himself with a grin on his face.

I greet him with a blank stare.

"Well... this is awkward." He comments with a breathy chuckle. "Normally, Mortals laugh or call the cops on me yet you're looking at me like you actually believe that I am a god."

"Would you believe me if I say I have a fire nymph living in my apartment?" I offer.

"Oh, so you're the guy Feenyx is assigned to take care of while Eros is away." He answers with an intrigued look on his face.

I raise an eyebrow.

"I deliver messages and intel across Olympus, Oceanus, the Underworld and the Mortal Realm. I know everything." He tells me. "Plus, Feenyx is a close friend of mine."

"Uh-huh. Look I'll leave you to do your thing. I'm going to bed and hope that none of this is real the next morning." I say.

"Sure. No problem. I'll be done in a flash."

On cue, I feel a whiplash of air hit my face. I turn around and see at least twenty-five boxes in my living room. I turn back to the door and jump startled when I see him pointing the clipboard and pen towards me.

"Sign here for clearance for delivery." He says.

I cautiously grab the pen, sign the document on the clipboard and return it.

"Thank you for supporting Hermes Delivery Express. Enjoy your night." That is what he says before I feel another whiplash hit me in the face.

I let out a languid sigh and close the door. This has to be the longest and strangest day of my life.

"Rise and shine, pretty boy." Is the first thing I hear along with loud clanging the moment my brain starts functioning. I immediately cover my head with my pillow, trying to block the noise but to no avail.

Not taking it any longer, I toss my pillow to the side, sit up straight and grab the frying pan and wooden spoon that's being used to pollute my room and ears with discord from Feenyx.

"What the fuck are you doing?" I ask.

"Waking you up." She answers innocently.

"There are one thousand one hundred and fifty ways to wake up a human being without making noise to disturb the twenty-five people living on this floor, woman."

"Does that include dunking cold water on you or making fireworks with my magic?" she asks, making mini explosions in her palms.

"How 'bout waking me up like a normal human?"

"I tried that, but you weren't responsive. I had to check in with Thanatos and ask if your soul is in the Underworld because you looked dead in your sleep." She tells me. "You're one heck of a heavy sleeper."

I feel my eye twitch and take in a sharp breath. "What do you want?" I ask, before fully registering what's going on. "Better question; why are you wearing my clothes?"

Feenyx is currently standing in my room wearing a pair of grey sweatpants and a matching grey hoodie that look a bit too big for her petite figure - both that belong to me.

"I'm going shopping for new clothes today." She tells me.

"Okay?" I shrug, still not understanding what that has to do with her raiding my wardrobe and stealing my clothes.

"You're coming with me." She adds, saying it like we mutually agreed on that decision.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Back up." I raise my hand. "First question; why do you need to go shopping for clothes if you already have clothes?" I ask.

"Would you rather have people gawking at me and asking you why I'm wearing ancient Greek robes?" she asks back.

I make no response to that statement.

"Besides, I've never been in the Mortal Realm. I just sit at my desk, doing paperwork and answering phone calls." She adds.

"Second question: why me?"

"Because I don't have anyone else to take me. Hermes is always moving from point A to B. He never slows down even if his life depends on it. Plus, you live here and know the place." She answers. "So will you come with me?"
"No," I answer.

"Aw come on, Yuri. I'll be staying here helping you with your girl problems. The least you can do is go out shopping with me."

"First off, it's pronounced ooh-ree-ey. Secondly, you staying in my apartment is more than enough."

"Come on, man. Please? Help a person in need?" she knees at my bedside and clasps her hands together, begging.

"No," I add firmness to my tone for emphasis.

"Pretty please?"

"No."

"Pretty, pretty please?"

"No."

"Pretty, pretty, pretty plea-"

"I said no," I answer, throwing my blankets over me as I lie back down.

I hear a scoff coming from her, but I don't care. The next thing I know, I feel my mattress tilt, causing me to slide off and fall on the ground and hurt my back in the process. "Hey!" I drawl out protesting, rubbing my sore back.

"Hey, I tried to be nice, asshole. I even said please." She glares at me, folding her arms to her chest. "You've had more than enough rest since yesterday. We're going out."

"But I don't wanna go. I wanna stay home and sleep some more." I complain.

"Human, I will drag you out of your room."

I lie on the ground to fold my arms to my chest. "Try it. I weigh 65kg."

Moments later, I am being carried over her shoulder like a sack of potatoes with a dumbfounded look on my face on our way to the bathroom.

I wonder if this is what Steve Trevor felt being carried around by Wonder Woman.

When we reach the bathroom, Feenyx drops me on the floor before exiting and closing the door. I blink a couple of times, trying to process what just happened.

"I don't hear you jumping into the shower and scrubbing your ass, boy!"

I jump at the sound of her pounding the door.

"Alright! Geez!" I retort and strip off my t-shirt. "You sound like my mom."
