Benefits : without them , Maia wouldn't be here ! They wouldn't be who they are ! They cherish them more than life itself and they would do ANYTHING to keep them safe and happy. This kind of self love is similar to that of a mother or a best friend.

Most visible : whether it's by going through her childhood playlist on YouTube or by listening to her Nightcore playlist on Soundcloud , it makes her feel like her younger self is watching over her. She can only appear when Maia feels safe enough to be in a child headspace.

Personality : stubborn , but very friendly towards people. It's a little scary how trustworthy they are , but if they sense danger , they will just annoy you till you give up on hurting them. They complain almost all the time , and have a hypocritical mindset on everything. I mean , how else could AC say they hate vegetables , and then eat a carrot in plain sight ? That's just strange if you ask me. They're incredibly sensitive and will be a crybaby , but they're just a goofy kid.

Backstory :

PAST ARC —

You are aware of the story of the girl who opened the coffin and rewrote her life , so theres no need to reiterate the same tale. What I haven't told you is how Author-Chan subconsciously created a defense against Amaris. Thats right , Child Maia is the reason Amaris hasn't fully influenced Author-Chan !

You're probably thinking that's impossible since Artemis is the one protecting her , but theres more to the story than you may think.

When Artemis rewrote her fate , she was trapped in the Ethereal Eclipse , and she can only interact with the physical plane through her shadow or when something weakens the veil between the two realms. All she could do was keep a close eye on Amaris in the hopes of being able to stop her whenever she overpowered the personas. Amaris over the years would steadily grow more powerful , especially when Maia entered the 6th grade.

It seemed like Artemis's efforts would be in vein...that is until Child Maia appeared.

Child Maia's creation is a anomaly , introducing the concept of the Inner child/Teen. Once a phase of your life is over , you shed that previous version of yourself , and move onto the next stage. Author-Chan was always destined to shed those versions of herself , but Child Maia was shed much earlier than she was supposed to , completely shattering the cycle and giving Amaris the chance to slowly infect the brain.

She predated everything in Maia's head. She is who gave the personas's a sense of identity , and she is the sole motive for all of them to exist.

Child Maia has one of the most important roles. To be the core of Author-Chan's memories. To never let Author-Chan forget who she is , and what shaped her into what she is.

As Artemis's arrival draws closer and closer , they will be the one to free Artemis from the Ethereal Eclipse.

Trivia :

— A huge fan of Justice. Their parents always bought me clothes from Justice with their jewelry coming from claires and their grandma.

— Their/My favorite food in the whole wide world is butter pasta ! Because of sensory issues , the pasta is plain with butter. Its covered in Parmesan and on occasion served with scrambled eggs and fruit punch. Their second favorite food is Hungry Howie's cheese pizza ( the pizzeria in my town closed down tho ;_; )

— They're OBSESSED with Mystreet. They joined the fandom when season 6 was being live streamed but it gave them the inspiration to make Starlight Falls as well as a desire to go to highschool. If only she knew it wasn't what she dreamt of...

— They have small dips in their ankles from the amount of times their razor scooter demolished their legs.

— Even though they are still " alive " in the sense of Author-Chan and her being the same person , their " grievance " is a euphemism for the loss of innocence and blissful safety. This is why she is sometimes seen as a human girl , and other times as a unicorn.
