Sleep had swept over Rain like a wave, and he hoped to have a normal sleep. The past few sleeps he had were hardly sleep, they all had that strange cat in them. Despite what FogWhisper had said, he knew they weren't just dreams.
He could choose between going to see FogWhisper again, but that could end up with him getting a claw to the nose. Though it could also end up with FogWhisper finally taking a moment to listen. The second thing he could do was figure it out on his own, wich it had already seemed like what he was going to have to do.
He blinked his eyes open, unsheathing his claws in a stretch. I should try to figure this out today. I can't keep these dreams going, I have kits now. He thought as he sat up, he slowly stumbled into the clearing, blinking sleep from his eyes. The clearing was bustling with activity, since last night's gathering. Apparently two cats snuck off together after the gathering and have yet to come back.
All he knew was one of them was from BlueClan and one was from HavenClan. But how in StarClans name would they know that if it was after the gathering? Perhaps they came in search for them and asked MothStar about them.
He decided to go out for a few moments atleast, he hadn't gone out for a stroll in a few moons. He padded through the bracken of the clearing, his tail swaying lowly as he admired the trees.
It was finally Newleaf and the flowers and trees were fully blossomed. He loved this weather, it always grew unbearably cold during Leafbare, and multiple cats would die, Infact that's how Frostpaw died.
As he continued walking through the forest, a strange scent came over him. It smelled fresh, and he could tell it was moving. He craned his neck downwards to sniff the forest floor, and he saw large paw prints.
These paw prints weren't of a cat, or a small creature. He followed where they led, and then noticed he heard loud sniffing sounds.
He looked up and beyond the tree that he was standing behind, he peeked through the leaves cascading over it and saw a large gray figure looming over a rock.
WOLF!!
immediately, Rain tried to quietly step back, in order to not alert the wolf, but get to the clan as soon as he could and alert them. SNAP a twig broke under his paw and he gasped, lowering himself. The wolfs head turned exactly in his direction, and it began stalking towards him with a snarl.
Before Rain could even try to run, the strange cat stepped Infront of him. It looked at him firmly, a menacing purr rumbling through its throat.
"You know what you have to do." It meowed simply, before morphing into Rain.
Suddenly Rain felt a wave of power grow inside of him, and he unsheathed his claws. With his paws outstretched he leaped onto the wolves face, snarling and spitting as he clawed it anywhere he could reach. He dug his claws deeply into the fur above his eyes and lashed it open, the wolf snarled in pain.
Rain felt a tinge of pain in his back paw, before being flung to the side into the grassy splotch of land. He landed on his side but immediately scrambled up. He dug his claws into the earth as the wolf rushed for him, another surge of power and fury took over him as he snarled he rushed to the side, dirt spraying behind him.
As quickly as possible he ran forward and leaped in the air, scratching the wolves stomach. It turned and immediately grabbed Rain by the tail, shaking him around like a fish. Rain twisted and turned, yowling restlessly as he tried to claw at the wolf, who sprang him into a bush.
He landed in-between the rustled leaves and watched the wolf running towards him. He stood up, but before he could run the wolf was already there, reaching it's long maw out, with fangs as large as a flower stem.
He didn't recoil, he unsheathed his claws and slashed open the wolves nose, sending russet drops flying. The wolf whimpered and inched back, blood dripping from the torn flesh on its side and face. With a loud and menacing snarl, it turned and rushed off with a limp.
As soon as it left sight, the cat reappeared again, still morphed as rain. With a quiet chuckle, it morphed back into itself and dissapeared.
Pain stunned Rain, his tail bleeding and his hind paw aswell, he was all sore. What just happened left him shaking. I didn't do that.. I didn't do ANY of that..!!!! His fur fluffed up, terror creeping through him.
How did that cat control me!? He thought, his eyes widening, and his claws unsheathing weakly. What else can it do!?
He forced himself up, limping back to camp. His paws felt hot against the ground as a crimson trail led behind him. He could feel the hot liquid, blood, dripping from his tail and back paw, he had multiple wounds from the bush as well.
Just before he reached close to camp, he collapsed, breathe heaving. He felt like each step there were thorns under his paws, but he pushed himself up and continued walking a bloody mess back to camp.
