5|A Walk In The Dark

"A walk..." Louis repeated reluctantly holding out his arm for her to take as she did so and they began their walk on the side of the plantation grounds.

"Its been a long time Louis. A year and we're in the exact same spot as we last spoke." Lunette stated to him a flashback to his wedding before blinking a couple times to fade off the memory.

"Yes...a year without my closest friend." Louis responded looking straight forward before being stopped by her letting go of him shaking her head.

"I should've been there for you." She spoke up causing him to stare at her feelings filling him knowing where this was going.

"Lunette-" Getting cut off by her.

"No! Let me speak." Lunette demanded out loud clenching her jaw.

"I...I know. You lost your wife and child at the same time. You know, you know for a fact Louis! I would've loved to hold you in my arms when you were grieving. A friend by your side." Lunette explained shaking her head looking up at the tree leafs her eyes watering laughing at herself.

"I lost everything as well. Everything I have is gone. I have an estate and a dog left to my name. And money. Yes money is so good. Buying all the new fabrics the best staff. I never drank before but- let me say its been the best hobby I've picked up." Lunette explained Louis stared down at her clenching his jaw watching her.

"To come back to where it all started...if we.....if we were to be the one's wed-" Lunette started.

"Luna." Louis said his voice laced with slight bitterness once she spoke about this.

"We should've been there for each other that's no doubt. But the past is something we cannot change no matter what." Loui explained to her shaking his head.

"Trust me. Louis I know. But at least you have a friend right? Lestat. He seems to be doing something to keep you going. I lost my child and my husband hanged himself in her room. At least you stuck through." Lunette spoke without realizing some of the words that came out of her mouth before closing her eyes wanted to slap herself.

"I....I'm sorry." She apologized shaking her head.

"No." Louis responded causing her to stare at him in slight worry and fear.

"You. You. Are the only thing I have left. After everything that has happened. I longed for death. I always prayed for death. But also. I prayed for you." Louis said turning his back to her taking a couple steps forward for her to follow slowly behind him.

"I prayed you'd get the happy ending. A fairytale that came to life." Louis said to her his eyes sad and lonely.

"Remeber the stories we'd always right then act out when we were children?" He asked her.

Causing a small chuckled and nod. "Yes, every single one of them." She whispered back.

"There was this one we did. We acted it out in front of our parents. A lonely man who had nothing, and a girl who had nothing. But still they found love for each other because of flowers. The danced in the sun to a song that was played when the flowers bloomed." Louis explained them laughing in the back of his mind.

"We were creative." Lunette responded to him earning a chuckle and nod from him turning around to face her head on.

"We wrote that in a day. I've kept that very one and planned on reading it to my child." He admitted causing the sad and depressing realization hit her again.

"What happened?" She asked him staring into his eyes holding contact.

"They died-"

"I know that Louis. Not to them but to you. I know it's been a long time. But you've changed. You're different. I don't know if your sick, or if you're better and healed." Lunette knocked the words out of her mouth.

"Even Yvette, who you've had serve you since the last time I came. She cares for you as if you weren't her master but yet a friend or even a brother. You always were kind to her out yet now aggressive." Lunette confronted the male shaking her head while he looked away again she went to him putting her hands on his face forcing him to look at her.

"Tell me."

"I've healed from the loss of my wife, child, and friend." Louis replied, Luna pulled her hands back at the loss of his friend knowing it was about her taking a slow breath.

"Lestat helped. You loss a friend but then gain one. A hole being filled I hope. To ease your pain." Luna told him before turning her back picking up her dress to quickly walk back. But felt arms embrace her from behind pulling her against his chest fear filled her.

"I didn't finish." He breathed heavily holding back obviously.

"Then finish."

"I gained a friend....who help cover a hole. But....long for the friend I've lost." Louis finished letting go pulling away taking steps back.

"I love you Louis. Seeing you now, speaking with you, brought my love back. I hope it can for you. I want to be in your life and you in mine my beloved." Lunette said not turning around to look at him but picked her dress up and walked away back to the Manor and got into her carriage.

"Leaving?" The familiar yet flirty voice asked.

"I'm sorry for the sudden leaving. The walk started the foundation of our relationship getting fixed I hope. Ours Minsour Lestat, has just started." Luna said bowing her head before her coachman toke off leaving the blonde their smirking.
