"Marinette-"

"No, Tikki. Please, not again," Marinette sighed loudly and put her pillow over her ears. "I heard you the first time. I'm not listening. You're not making me! Now let me sleep." She started pretending to snore.

Tikki turned away, a strange sadness washing over her. It felt like there was a thorn in her heart. Ever since Adrien rejected her, Marinette had changed. She didn't listen to Tikki anymore, always lost in her own head. She was always trying to get Kagami away from Adrien. Tikki even noticed that there was something going on between Alya and Marinette, but she wasn't sure what it was.

All she knew was it wasn't good.

Whenever she tried to talk to Marinette, or warn her, she brushed her warnings away.

Tikki let a tear leak out despite her efforts in containing them. Sometimes, it was better to let the tears out.

What has happened to my holder? What has happened to the best Ladybug I've ever seen? What happened to the hero who was always sweet and caring?

Tikki stared out of the window for the whole night till morning. She watched the stars glow brightly in the sky. She watched them twinkling with energy and potential. She watched them for hours and hours. The sky turned lighter and lighter. The stars seemed to go dimmer and dimmer.

The stars seemed to represent Marinette now.

If I don't do something, Marinette will go worse...

But what can I do? What can I do if she doesn't even listen?

I will not do anything. I cannot do anything. But something else can.

The person who rejected her himself.

"Alya, you have to stop." Marinette glared at her best friend. Glared at her.

Alya was shocked. Unbelievable. If she didn't know any better, she would think this person was a completely different person from the Marinette she knew.

"Why do you have to do this, Marinette?" Alya asked softly.

"What do you mean?" She snapped. "All I'm saying is that you can't like Adrien!"

"...W-What do you mean? I don't like him as a boyfriend, you know that, he's all yours-"

"Shut. It." Marinette glared daggers at her. Her voice grew louder and louder, biting with hate. "He's Kagami's.  And I'm going to separate them." She folded her arms. She just couldn't stand it. The world was torturing her. First her one and only crush rejected her after she spent such a long time working up the courage to confess to him. Then he hangs out with some other girl. Then her friends didn't even feel angry too? They didn't even seem to care! They liked him still! Her parents wouldn't get it either! Chat Noir was acting weird! And Tikki wouldn't stop trying to talk to her. It was as if no one ever understood her anymore.

Which was true. They didn't.

Alya did know that Adrien rejected her. But she thought she had moved on. The real reason she wasn't angry was because real love couldn't be forced. It just happened naturally. If Adrien didn't like her back, it wasn't his fault. If he lied and said he did and ended up saying that he wasn't genuinely in love with Marinette, the pain of his words would be much, much more painful than him saying he didn't like her back. And if he did, Alya would make sure he understood what real pain meant.

She didn't know how Marinette, who used to be her BFF, ended up like this. But it was affecting their friendship.

Which was why she said, "I'm sorry, Marinette, but I can't be friends with you if you would act like this. If you think you can choose who I like, then you are clearly not the kind of friend I'm looking for...and thought you were." With that, she nodded and turned away in the comfort of Nino's arms.
