2|The Reason

Sophie buried her face into her hands.

This wasn't working one bit.

She read through her list of reasons, noticing that none of the reasons were actually telling her to hate him.

The world was seemingly going against her as she realised all the reasons were making her believe the total opposite.

She groaned as she sunk back into the chair, wondering how it all came to this.

Right, it was all because of that kiss.

That accidental, but still significant kiss.

Well, it was, at least to her.

Her heart starting beating twice the pace, and her face burned as she touched her lips, remembering how soft his was on hers.

Well, it was all Biana's fault.

Whether or not she did it on purpose or not, Sophie wasn't going to forgive her anytime soon.

It just happened the day before, where they were playing base quest at Everglen.

"I call Foster!" Keefe called out, placing a arm around Sophie as she blushed.

Still, she shrugged him off, giving him the best glare she could master as Keefe gave her another smirk, probably noticing the mood shift she just had.

"Nope, Sophie's with me. Girls against boys!" Biana glared at him, pulling Sophie over to her side.

"Fine, but no abilties!" Fitz quickly added before Keefe could argue.

Keefe huffed as he crossed his arms. "We're guarding first then."

Biana beamed at him as she exclaimed, "Done! Now let's play!"

Sophie sighed as she got dragged by Biana.

This was going to be fun.

Sophie and Biana chose the huge boulder near the river as their base, and they looked around, to see the forest as silent as ever.

"Now?" Sophie whispered to Biana as she nodded.

"I'll take left, you take right," Biana agreed as they ran off.

Sophie closed all her senses to focus on the rustling of the leaves, hoping that one of the boys were bashing through the forest.

Then she heard a rustle in the trees above.

She smiled, channeling all her energy onto her feet, pushing herself to run faster to trace to the sound of the sound.

Then she caught a glimpse of a blue tunic.

Her grin widened as she remembered Keefe was wearing one, daring towards his direction.

She kept her breaths low and softer as she found Keefe sitting on the branch of a tree, just swinging his legs, looking into the distance.

She held her breath as he sat up straight, as if feeling something.

Right, he could feel her emotions.

She tried her best to hold her emotions, if that was even possible, slamming her body against the trunk, hoping that Keefe wouldn't find her before she could tag him.

"You know Foster, you don't have to hide."

Sophie could already imagine his smug smirk as she heard a thump come from the opposite side, knowing Keece must have jumped off the branch.

Still, she closed her eyes tight, as if that would even help with her overwhelming emotions.

Especially since she could hear his footsteps approaching closer, and her heart was thumping against her chest in a way faster rate, probably from the run.

She did a mental calculation.

She now had a 50/50 chance of winning, if she could tag him first, she would win, but at the same time Keefe could feel her anxiety and tag her before she could tag him.

"I did tell you that you look adorable when you worry?" Keefe's voice seemed to be so close, she could bet that if she opened her eyes, he would be standing right in front of her.

True enough, as she took a little peek, his smirk was enormous, and her heart seemed to pound ten times faster.

"I could tag you any instant, you know," Sophie reminded him of the game.

"So could I," Keefe stated, and Sophie hated to admit he was right.

He took another step forward, and Sophie could swear that he looked nervous for a split second.

What for though?

Still, her face was flushing pink as she noticed the distance between them was pretty small.

Her eyes flickered to his lips, which she scolded herself for a second later.

"Tag!"

A voice screamed from behind Keefe, who Sophie noticed a little too late as Biana appeared behind him.

Keefe's eyes widened as she pushed him a little too hard, falling in front of Sophie-

Sophie screamed into her hands as she recalled how shocked they both were, then quickly toppling over from shock.

"Idiot, idiot, idiot," Sophie scolded herself as she banged her head on the table for every word.

Why did she like it though?

They didn't say a word about it afterwards, both blushing madly from what just happened, with Biana as shocked as they were.

Just that Biana was way more excited about it.

She tried to convince herself that nothing happened, but she still could remember how his lips tasted like honey-

Sophie banged her head on the table again, hating herself for still remembering all the details.

"Somehow, this is all your fault," she glared at Iggy, who was perfectly comfortable on the table.

Iggy's big doe eyes seemed to narrow at her, as if he had started to plot revenge for the misplaced blame.

And his revenge was definitely expected, as he flew off with another fart.

Sophie fanned the air, scrunching her nose up to block the toxic air.

She glanced at the piece of paper, looking at thr last line that made her heart pound like crazy again.

She grumbled, not wanting to face the possibility of that happening, even though she was pretty sure it was already.

She picked up the paper, crumpling the piece of paper with frustration, throwing it at the door.

Why are boy problems so hard?

Just in time, the door opened, the paper hitting the face of the person opening it.

She cringed as she got up from her bed, not wanting anyone to read what she wrote there, especially Grady. And now Keefe too.

Her eyes widened as the boy standing at her door smirked.

"I should've came here announced, before you start throwing things at me."

Just her luck.

It was him.
