1|Not Alone

Reminder: Ask your questions for the QnA here!

"Two whole days? So I will have to spend a night alone here?" Sophie asked, glancing at Edaline and Grady nervously.

She knew they were going on an overnight mission together, but she never really thought about having to spend the night alone.

"We could ask if you want to spend the night at Dex's? Or Everglen? Or maybe even the Shores of So-"

Sophie's eyes lit up at Edaline's suggestion, but it was immediately cut short as Grady butt in.

"Not That Boy's place!" He cried. Edaline and Sophie laughed, "Grady, they're already together. Besides, he wouldn't do anything. You know him."

Edaline tried to convince Grady as Sophie flushed red.

"Its okay, I'm big now. I can stay just one night alone," Sophie smiled, hoping that that would convince her ever-worrying parents to just trust her enough to give her the house for just a day.

And hopefully they won't find it burnt to ashes the next day when they returned.

"You sure? We could ask Keefe, I'm sure he'll be fine with it," Edaline gave her a goofy smile as Grady grunted in protest.

"I can handle myself mom," Sophie laughed as she went to hug her parents before they went.

"Alright honey, we believe you," Edaline kissed the top of her forehead as they wrapped up into a family hugged.

"Just stay away from That Boy," Grady sighed, and Sophie laughed as Edaline pinched him.

"Be safe! We'll be back soon!" Edaline waved before they stepped into the light.

Sophie smiled as she waved, Sandor standing behind her.

"You'll listen to Grady, right?" He asked, his squeaky voice still reminding her of a tiny bunny rather than a seven foot tall goblin.

Sophie shurgged as she grinned, "Maybe?"

She sat on the sofa, wondering what to do now that she had the whole house to herself, for two more days no less.

Just as she was pondering on what to do, a knock came from the door.

She squinted as she looked at Sandor, who went over to check on who it was before sighing and walking away.

She took it as a sign to know it's safe.

Opening the door, the familiar smirk and ice blue eyes greeted her.

"Keefe!" She laughed as she went over to hug him.

"We just saw each other yesterday, Foster. No need to get so excited," Keefe laughed as he hugged back, Ro scoffing as she strode in.

"Psh, he was literally jumping once he got the hail from Edaline. She said you needed company," Ro grinned, showing all her pointy teeth.

Keefe and Sophie both flushed red as they let go. Keefe scrunched his nose, "I wasn't that bad."

Sophie laughed as she sat back down on the sofa, Sandor sighing, knowing that if the two of them were together, it meant they were up to no good.

But he had to get use to trouble now, since they were together, so it was even the more expected that something could go wrong in all the ways it shouldn't.

"So, what do you want to do?" Keefe asked as he sat down next to her, and Sophie instinctively laid her head on his shoulder, staring at nothing in particular.

"I don't know, do you have any suggestions?" She asked, playing with the pillow.

Keefe leaned in closer to her, to whisper something in her ear. She could feel his warm breath tickling her ear as he came closer.

"You're elbowing me," He said, and Sophie looked to see her elbow poking his chest. She immediately put it away, Keefe laughing as her face lit red.

"Sorry," she said meekly, hoping that it didn't hurt too much.

"Nah it's fine. Want to go up to your room though?" Keefe suggested, his eyes darting to the corner of the living room.

Sophie spun, to see Sandor and Ro looking at them the whole time.

She turned back, nodding.

*****

Keefe looked around Sophie's table, trying to find anything remotely interesting to play with while she tried to get Iggy to eat his new vegetarian diet.

"Come on Iggy, it isn't as bad as you think it is, at least have a bite," Sophie tried to persuade Iggy, but he simply let out an an angry purr in protest.

Sophie gave him the I give up on you look as she set the bowl down and added in his favorite treats instead.

"Foster, you still keep these?" Keefe pulled out her I Pods from the corner of her shelf, and she laughed.

"Of course, it's precious," she said as she took it from his palm. It was old, but still in good use. Besides, music can calm her down.

"Are there any new songs nowadays in the human world?" Keefe asked, peeking over Sophie's shoulder as she scrolled down her list of songs.

She shrugged as she went to Google, simply searching "New Songs" in English. "Can you understand English anyways?" Sophie asked.

"Kind of? I found my mom's previous polyglot books," Keefe shrugged.

Sophie nodded as she scrolled down the songs, finding some that she never heard of.

"What about you randomly click one as you scroll?" Keefe suggested, tired of Sophie staring at the tiny screen just contemplating about choosing a song.

Sophie pouted, but then again, it was a way easier method rather than just scrolling with no motive.

She clicked on one, and it was out only recently.

As soon as the music started, Keefe's eyes lit up.

"Wanna dance Foster?" he asked, his hand out for her to take.

She blushed red, really wanting to. Then again, she remembered how dancing last time ended.

"I won't mind if you step on my feet," Keefe laughed, and Sophie's heart skipped a beat, knwoing how well he knew her.

She laughed, smiling as she took his hand, standing up.

The lyrics fitted them perfectly, as they swayed on the floor, and Sophie leaned against him, just listening to the music as they took small steps around the room, enjoying every moment.

These were the sort of times when you just want everything to stop, and just stay in the moment, where everything is perfect, and you need nothing more, since you already have your world next to you.

Keefe smiled as he probably felt Sophie's emotions slow down and actually relax. However, the song came to an end, and they just stood there, gazing into each other's eyes.

Sophie's eyes flicked to his lips, and he must have realised it too, since he bent down slightly and pressed his lips to Sophie's.

It was that kind of soft, gentle yet loving kisses that you could experience, and it felt like heaven. Sophie closed her eyes, taking it all in.

She loved the way she felt around him, carefree, happy and so, so loved.

She loved the way how they acted around each other, the goofiness and weirdness was always a thing they shared, just the both of them.

Most importantly, she loved him.

He loved her, and there was nothing more Sophie could ever ask for.
