ch. 39
"I'M sorry, my dear", nemuri said as she gave nanako a hug.
nemuri was currently telling nanako how apologetic she is. nanako's birthday was today and it totally flew over nemuri's head. with all the preparations that's been going on and a little less than 3 months until momo and todoroki's wedding, nemuri has been super busy.
"it's fine mother. don't stress and tire yourself out too much. nineteen isn't that special of a number anyways", nanako said.
"thanks for understanding, love. I'll send you a few new dresses later".
nanako nodded, taking her leave. almost everyone was busy today so she decided that she'd go find eri and tomura.
nanako's been wanting eri to see tomura as a father figure despite her already have a father. she wasn't trying to replace chisaki or anything, but since she was marrying tomura, she thought it'd be good for eri to start seeing him as a dad.

I walked back to my room first. getting changed, I wore a whitish-pinkish dress. I gave it twirl before meeting up with all my knights.
they understood that I wanted to spend some alone time with tomura and eri on my birthday so they decided to give me my presents first.
mina and ochako have sown eri and me a matching outfit, to which I'll definitely be wearing on mother's day.
midoriya and shouto got me books since they knew I loved reading.
bakugo and kirishima tried their best with my present. they ended up giving me a pocket watch, with kirishima saying it was the "manliest one" out of all of them.
shinso and kaminari got me a yellow plush cat.
"guys I'm not eight anymore", I said.
"well I was going to get you a real cat but kaminari wanted a yellow one. and obviously there's no full on yellow cats, so we compromised", shinso explained.
I laughed. "guess I'll name him shinari".
"heyyy wait, I see what you did there! and I don't—"
"it's great!!", kaminari beamed. I smiled, giving a smirk to shinso.
iida also ended up showing up and gifting me some different tea bags. "I recommend trying new things, perhaps one of these will become your favorite", he said.
tamaki and mirio also ended up coming to see me. although tamaki was a stuttering mess like usual, mirio made up for it by doing all the talking.
"so we weren't exactly sure what to get you for your birthday but amajiki here said that you seemed to like ducks! so we got you a basket of baby ducks", mirio said.
I took the basket and moved away the fabric that was covering it. little quacks were heard here and there.
"awww!! they're so precious! this is so precious! you both are so precious!!!", I said with utter gratefulness.
"of course!! we hope you have a nice birthday princess!!", mirio said as he dragged tamaki along with him.
'but nothing beats a new ship', I thought as I looked at the two boys walk away.

night came as quickly as any normal day. after a whole day of receiving presents, getting a few "happy birthday princess nanako!!" here and there, it was finally her alone time with tomura and eri.
they were to meet outside on a grassy field where a big towel laid. only some dessert and water were available as they had all already had dinner.
"mommy!! happy birthday!!", eri excitedly said as she jumped towards nanako.
"thank you eri", nana said with a kind smile.
eri held up a picture that she drew of her holding nanako and chisaki's hand. while tomura held nana's other hand.
"it's beautiful", nanako breathed out. on the top, it said 'family'. it was truly a heartwarming gift.
"come sit", tomura said, as he watched the two girls in front of him exchange smiles.
nanako sat down, with eri in between her and tomura. they were enjoying the rising moon as they talked.
eri went to go find some flowers as she had another idea pop up in her mind.
"I wasn't really sure what to get you...since I've never really gotten anyone presents in general. so I thought that I could give you my—"
before tomura could finish his sentence, eri came running back to them with what seemed like a flower crown.
"it's for you mommy!!", eri huffed out as she attempted to put the newly made crown on nanako's head. nana had to slouch down a bit so eri could reach her head.
"you look so pretty mama!"
"thank you eri", nana said as she patted eri's head. tomura took note of it and kept it in mind.
once eri sat down again, the three continued their conversation. eri looked up at the many stars and was mesmerized by it.
"mama, look at how pretty the stars are!!"
"not as pretty as you though", nanako replied.
eri smiled, laying on the blanket and looking up at the dark sky, relaxed. it didn't take long for her to pass out as she's an active child during the day.
"sorry tomura. what were you going to say before eri came back?", nanako asked as she made sure eri was asleep.
"I wanted to tell you my real name...as a gift...", tomura said quietly, not wanting to wake eri up.
nanako cocked an eyebrow. 'was shigaraki tomura not his real name?' she knew all for one adopted him but she didn't know his name was changed too.
"shimura tenko".
nanako thought. 'shimura?? like shimura nana?' nanako has heard of shimura nana multiple times through her mother and yagi. yagi was especially intent on telling nanako about how shimura nana was his idol, and an impressive general when he was younger.
"is...something wrong?", tomura asked.
"oh! no no no. nothing, your name just reminded me of someone", nanako said.
it was actually how kayama nanako's name came to be. she was named after shimura nana. her name was suggested by yagi and nemuri agreed.
"is that so", tomura replied. nanako just nodded.
"I'm glad you told me your real name", nanako said. "and don't worry, I'll only call you tenko when we're alone. I'm assuming you don't want others to know".
tomura just gave her a small smile while looking down at eri, who was still peacefully sleeping.
he wanted to pat her head just like nanako had just did, however he was worried he'd wake her up.
nana saw tomura looking at eri. she patted eri's head, showing tomura that it was okay to do so.
tomura hesitantly held his hand above eri's head. again, he wasn't very familiar with physical contact, especially with little kids. usually, they'd run away when they saw tomura.
sighing, he gently patted eri's hair. she slightly stirred, turning to her side and facing tomura.
"mm....p-papa....", eri mumbled out.
tomura perked up at that while nanako just smiled. it was a warm feeling for tomura. he smiled as he continued to run his fingers through eri's hair.
'having a daughter feels pretty nice'.
