A Social Issue

Human Trafficking : The Rate and How to Curb It

Hi guys, I'll be speaking about a subject that is very prevalent in our society and everyday life. I hope this will be informative and help everyone as much as possible.

First, What is Human Trafficking?

It basically involves transporting someone into a situation of exploitation. This can include forced labour, marriage, prostitution, and or organ removal. Studies show that about 20-30 million people are trafficked each year and most are children. Trafficking is also a vast business with it making more than $150 billion dollars per year. Most times the victims of trafficking are promised jobs, better lives and a lot of other 'too good to believe' things. So now we know what trafficking entails, let's look at ways to curb it.

Don't be In a Hurry to Believe Promises Too Good to be true

Usually it's because of these promise of a better life and wealth that people are subjected to trafficking. Poverty has struck so many families so much that just the thought of even having one child off their backs is welcomed and this is the problem. So to everyone, no matter how much your life is spiralling out of control, do not believe promises of a better life abroad or other stuff like that easily, it could be the work of a trafficking ring.

Volunteer to Join the Effort in stopping Human Trafficking

Most times we hear about human trafficking, but do we even try to help curb it? I say curb and not stop because Rome wasn't built in a day. We start from what's possible and suddenly we're doing the impossible. We should all find relevant ways to aid in the fight against trafficking, it can be through social media posts, videos or even articles on blogs concerning the issue. Our Small effort can contribute to the long term, because the more we shine the light on it, the more aware people are.

Speak up and Report to Relevant Authorities

Sometimes we witness trafficking as it happens, but refuse to say anything about it. This shouldn't be the case, from forced child labour to sex slaves we can see subtle hints and report it to the authorities. Doing so will only help to alleviate the suffering of the victims. They're human beings too and would like the chance to live on their own terms, as opposed to being a source of income for some opportunist.

So basically we know even with all these, trafficking will still continue in the world, but at least we can reduce it substantially and help to alleviate the victims suffering. Please Speak Out Today against Human Trafficking and join the fight against it.
