If I'm being completely honest, I don't listen to music when I'm reading, I find it somewhat distracting. Like the story is pulling me one way and the music the other.

But, it's an entirely different story when it comes to writing. I go out of my way to look for suitable music when writing. Music brings my work to life and sets the right mood for creativity.

I listen to the music which drives the mood of the scene.

If it's sad, I'll put on a tearjerker, probably a couple of songs about heartbreak. If it's dramatic, I tend to lean into the classical side, some Alan Silvestri (who composed the Avengers: Endgame music) or Yuki Kajiura ( who's made a lot of popular anime ost). Other days I just listen to something I can give to, anything that can get me going and motivated.
