COALITION ADMIN OF THE MONTH - PROFILER | Uvuniverse
Interviewer - Marine | MarineBiologie
So you've been awarded Coalition's Admin of the Month award; how do you feel?
- I feel great. Since it's my first time and all. But mostly it means I have been helping the community grow so yeah. It's a great feeling
That's fantastic! How long have you been in the community and how have you contributed?
- I have been in the community for two long years at least. I have contributed in loads of ways but mostly as an engagement moderator and as some might think a comic relief.
Two years is a long time! Who is your role model when it comes to writing?
- Lots of people. Aii!
From JK Rowling down to Carolyn keene.
But mostly I will like to also add Jjiawei, she is been a more relatable role model.
JJ is definitely an admirable person! About Wattpad, when/why did you decide to use the platform?
- I didn't decide. I was just looking for a place to read novels and I stumbled on it. Then I discovered you can write nonsense and post it too. And well. Here I am.
And we're glad you're here! One last question to wrap this up; what do you hope to accomplish in the future?
- I hope to go to the moon XD. Yeah, really though. Write a big bad book and grab enough money to go to the moon! Like who doesn't wanna go to the moon?
I think everyone would love to go to the moon XD. Thanks so much for taking this time to answer these questions, and congratulations on your achievement!
COALITION MEMBER OF THE MONTH - MARINE | MarineBiologie
Interviewer - Rose | Wild_R0se
I loved reading about Cora. How did the idea to write 'Monochrome' come to you?
- Honestly, Monochrome came from several different places. The idea of a colourblind population popped into my head when I was researching these black and white films; when we watch them now, we don't tend to remember that their world is actually filled with colour. I thought the concept was fascinating and decided to throw a few characters into it and see how it went
Beautiful! Sometimes writers take inspiration from people around them while creating the characters. Did you do so with Cora or was she your brain child?
- Oh, I don't think I'd be able to create an entirely new person on my own joy. I always base my characters off of people I know, or at least certain parts of their personalities. One of my close friends can be very courageous and brave when she's determined but sometimes isn't all that self-confident, and I admired how passionate she is despite her introvertedness. I wanted to have a character with that same tenacity, and that's where Cora comes in!
Talking about passion, when did you start being passionate about writing? How long have you been writing?
- I've been a reader all my life, which is where I fell in love with stories. I never began to think about writing them myself until a few years ago, when I suddenly had so many ideas for novels and short stories that I decided to dedicate myself to trying for the first time
Do you prefer reading series or a standalone novel?
- That's quite a tough decision! I think I would prefer reading a novel because you can expect the ending and witness an incredible story arc in a shorter amount of time, whereas for a series the number of books can vary and the plot begins to get rather detailed and complicated
Would you call yourself a plotter or a panster?
- Haha, I'm most definitely a panster. I can't write novel outlines or stick to writing schedules for the life of me. My plots are usually created during the process of writing itself; this way I can open up the possibilities and choose the outcome that feels right to both me and the characters
That does sound legit. What advice do you have for writers that are just starting their writing journeys?
- I'd tell them to not doubt themselves! New writers tend to really question their abilities, which can affect their writing. Don't be afraid to try something new; after all, you're the writer of the story
Do you have any writing quirks? How do you get into your characters headspace?
- Writing quirks... Oh! Writers always say not to listen to music with lyrics while writing, since it'll distract you, but I actually tend to listen to lyrical songs that I have memorised. I'm not quite sure why they don't bother my writing joy. As for getting into my characters' headspaces, I try to picture how the people(s) they're inspired by would act in the situation
