HOW I WRITE

How do I write? What a question. Laced with the intricacies of technicalities, to touch upon every aspect of this matter would take a full-blown course. But I would just throw some light on the part that is relative to all.

Thought process.

What if I tell you that I write without thinking. Or that my write-ups are formed from a stream of consciousness without any particular order. Or that my stories are birthed from the bowels of the subconscious, merging reality with illusions. Funny right, weird you may say, but it's true. I write to express, and I love being different, so I try to create content that match.

Writing style

My writing style is not so unique or different in any superior form or way, however to decipher the substance presented, or to fully grasp the entirety of the piece, you would have to push past the words. Sifting through every alphabet, word and sentence that makes up the varying pieces I write. Because those words which you trust, are the very hindrances that barricade your mind from tapping into the untamed waters of the African mind. For every word, there is a message, for every sentence, there is a future. One day I sat and thought. What if I write without thinking, how incredible would it be. There and then was when I truly tapped into the best in me. For our coordinated thoughts are sometimes our limitations.

Experience

I have been writing for a year now. Lol. Yeah, I'm still quite new to the writing world but I have grasped a lot and that experience channels itself into how I write. "To be or not to be." A famous Shakespearean quote from Hamlet. Incorporated in diversified forms into three of my write-ups. What I experience, be it by teaching or by reading, almost dictates how I write. It's like a cassette, recorded at different time frames and spheres, all playing at the same time in my head, producing the rich blend that could sometimes be raw and distasteful, sometimes pure and appealing

Inspiration.

Aside my experiences and what I read which are key factors that influence how I write, I am also inspired by the air. Just sitting outside in the open, the cool breeze blowing from the different quarters of my environs, the ideas just start flowing. Silence too inspires me. Be it sitting in silence, standing in silence, walking in silence, working in silence. Each has a way of bringing the best ideas to the surface. The powerful echo of silence is only privy to those who listen. Then finally, a key influencer to how I write is music. Not songs, just sounds and tunes. Listening to no wordings, just the melodious cacophony of pure unadulterated worship, coursing through my ears and triggering the fountain of ideas.

Niche

To conclude, I would like to speak about my niche; my specialty. Is it romance or mystery or horror or sci-fi. Well I would say that I can write all. Though not as well as most, but well enough to win awards. I specialize in creating unique content. Different write-ups from the norm that is sold and broadcasted, that is my niche, that is my message. When you write, don't follow the cliché or norms, be different.
