KACEY'S HOME

monday
12pm
as i was making brownies with kim's kids since i was babysitting, i got a phone call. north quickly ran to the phone and answered it, "this is kacey's phone!" the 11 year old said into the phone.
i paused my brownie baking and walked over to where north was holding the phone. "who is it?" i asked curiously.
"i dunno, but he asked to speak to you." north replied, handing me the phone. i took it and put it up to my ear.
"hello?" i said, wondering who could be calling me at this time.
"hey kacey." the familiar voice came over the phone. i smiled at my producers voice, pleasantly surprised to hear from him.
"hey, what's up? i wasn't expecting to hear from you." i said, leaning against the kitchen counter.
with a hint of excitement in his voice, he spoke. "i have some exciting news for you! the song is ready to go. all we need is a name and your confirmation to drop it."
my mind went blank for a moment as i tried to process the news. "really? it's ready? that was quick." i said, feeling a mixture of disbelief and excitement. "i wanna actually throw a small listening party for the song. very small like a group of ten fans to listen to me sing the song and talk through it before we release it."
my producer chuckled over the phone. "i guess you inspired us to work extra hard on it. as for the listening party, i think that's a great idea. your manager can get everything set up for you."
i nodded as if he could see me as i thought about talking to my mom about the listening party. "great and for the name..." i paused as i thought about a name for it. "can i get back to you on that? give me like ten minutes."
"yeah, absolutely. take your time." he replied, clearly okay with the delay.
"perfect! thanks so much, i'll talk to you soon." i said before hanging up and turning to north.
north was watching me with wide eyes, clearly curious about the phone call. "what was that about?" she asked, her interest piqued.
i smiled at her, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. "i have some news about the song i've been working on. it's ready and we need to come up with a name for it before we can release it." i said as i moved back into the kitchen where all three of her siblings were sitting.
north's eyes widened even more at the revelation. "wow, that's amazing! can i be the one to name it?" she asked, a hint of eagerness in her voice.
"that depends, can you blow my mind with a super amazing name?" i asked her with raised eyebrows.
north laughed, her competitive nature coming out. "of course i can. i am incredibly creative." she said, sounding completely confident.
"hm," i hummed before nodding. "alright, i challenge you to give me a list of super sick names."
north grinned. "what's the song about?"
i thought about it for a moment, trying to sum it up in a few words. "it's about love, vulnerability and trust. basically i talk about how i'm in love with this guy who i met after a really...hard time in my life."
north nodded thoughtfully. "okay, that gives me something to work with." she said, already deep in thought about possible names for the song. "do you have a paper for me to write the names down on?"
i chuckled at her determination and grabbed a notepad and pen from the kitchen counter. i handed it over to her, feeling a sense of anticipation.
"while northie is being creative, let's keep baking." i said to saint, chicago and psalm.
the three kids nodded eagerly and resumed their tasks, continuing to mix the brownie batter that they had been working on while i was on the phone.
north was sitting at the kitchen table with a look of intense concentration on her face. she was scribbling down names on the notepad, her tongue sticking out slightly as she focused.
the kids and i worked on the brownie batter, occasionally sneaking glances in north's direction, eager to see what names she would come up with.
after about fifteen minutes, north looked up from her writing, a satisfied expression on her face. she handed me the notepad with her list of name ideas.
i took the list from her and scanned through the names she had come up with. they were all pretty good, but one name in particular caught my attention. "sweet relief" i said out loud, reading the title out loud.
north smiled proudly, clearly pleased that i liked one of her suggestions. "yeah, i thought it was perfect. it fits with the theme of the song." she said, sounding very mature for her age.
i smiled at her, impressed by her choice. "you know what? i think you've got a future in naming songs." i said, giving her shoulder a light squeeze. she beamed at the compliment.
just then, kim walked into the kitchen, her eyes immediately landing on the empty box of premade brownie mix on the counter. she raised an eyebrow, clearly curious.
"you know, north here is a genius." i said to her as i threw away the box.
kim chuckled, watching as north continued to scribble on her notepad. "oh really? in what way?" she asked, amused by the idea.
i gestured towards north, who was scribbling away with a serious look on her face. "she came up with names for my song."
kim looked at north, a mixture of surprise and admiration in her eyes. "that's pretty impressive. what did you come up with, north?"
while they chatted and the other kids were watching a movie in the living room, i pulled the brownies out of the oven.
i set the hot pan on the stovetop and took off my oven mitts. the brownies looked perfect, with a golden-brown, crinkly top. the smell of chocolate and sweetness filled the air.
bear immediately came running into the couch with his tongue sticking out, i laughed softly and shook my head. "you can't have any."
he whined and sat by my feet, looking up at me with his big brown eyes, clearly hoping for a taste.
i chuckled and patted his head. "sorry dude, these brownies are for people." i said, knowing full well that he didn't understand me.
bear let out another low whimper, stubbornly sticking by my side in case one accidentally fell on the ground. he knew me better than he should.
kim then leaned on the kitchen island, "thanks again for babysitting."
i turned to her and smiled, feeling pleased that i could help out. "anytime, honestly. i love hanging out with them." i said, genuinely enjoying the time i spent with the kiddos.
kim grinned and nodded. "well, they love having you around too. you're like their favorite aunt." she said with a light tone.
i chuckled and rolled my eyes, but secretly, i was flattered by the compliment. "don't inflate my ego too much, i might start expecting presents." i teased.
kim chuckled before speaking, "so what's on your agenda for today?"
i thought for a moment, considering my plans for the rest of the day. "well, i have to go to mom's and talk about some business stuff." i said, our mom was all of our managers. "and after that, i don't know. probably just chill at home and relax." i added.
kim nodded and smiled at the answer. "well, we'll get out of your hair." she said as she picked up psalm.
"oh wait! i'll throw some brownies in a container. they deserve to have some after making them." i said as i opened my cabinet to find a container.
the kid's eyes lit up as they heard me mention brownies. north spoke up excitedly, "are you serious?" while chicago and saint exchanged eager smiles, clearly looking forward to getting their hands on some homemade brownies.
i laughed softly at their reactions and grabbed a container from the cabinet. "of course, you guys worked hard on these. it's only fair." i said as i started carefully placing the brownies inside the container.

KRIS' HOME
calabasas, california
1:30pm
"mom, corey! hey." i said as i walked into my mom's place to see her and corey watching something on tv.
they both looked up as i entered, and mom immediately turned off the tv. "hey, sweetie! it's good to see you." she said, getting up from the couch and coming over to give me a hug.
i hugged her back and squeezed her tightly. "it's good to see you too. what were you watching?" i asked, glancing at the now blank tv screen.
"oh, just some reality show. nothing worth paying attention to." she said, waving off the question.
corey, her boyfriend, then spoke up from the couch. "hey Kacey." he said with a lazy smile.
i gave him a smile and a quick hello. "hey, corey." i said as i took a seat in an armchair across from them. "so mom, i'm here to talk to my manger." i said referring to the fact that i'm here to talk business.
kris nodded, understanding what i meant. "of course, we can talk in my office." she said, gesturing for me to follow her.
i got up and followed her into her office, which was just down the hall. mom's office was a spacious room with a large desk facing the window and a cozy sofa in the corner.
we both took a seat on the sofa, facing each other. mom folded her hands on her lap and looked at me expectantly. "okay, what's up?"
i took a deep breath, feeling a little nervous about bringing up the subject. "well, i wanted to talk to you about my music career." i said, getting straight to the point.
kris nodded, encouraging me to continue. "go on, sweetie." she said, her eyes showing a mix of curiosity and interest.
"well, i've been working on this new song, and it's ready to be released." i explained, trying to keep my tone casual. "but, i really want to do a small intimate performance of the new song with some fans."
kris raised an eyebrow. "like a listening party?" she asked, clearly intrigued by the idea.
i nodded. "yeah, kind of. i want to perform the song for a small group of my fans, let them hear it before it's released, and then drop it right after." i explained, feeling excited just thinking about it.
kris leaned back in her seat, mulling it over. "hm, that sounds like it could be interesting. what did your producer think of the idea?"
i smiled, thinking of our conversation from earlier. "actually, he loved it. he said that he'd be willing to organize everything for it."
kris nodded, considering all the factors. "okay, and how many fans do you want to invite?" she asked, getting down to the logistics.
"i was thinking like twenty fans, tops. something really small and intimate." i replied, already envisioning the listening party in my mind.
kris thought for a moment before speaking again. "well, i don't see why we can't make that happen. it could be a good way to build up some anticipation for the song release."
my heart skipped a beat at her words. "really? you think we can do it?" i asked, feeling a mix of excitement and relief.
kris smiled warmly at me, clearly happy to see me so enthusiastic. "yeah, why not? we'll start planning it right away." she said, sounding just as excited as i was.

LISTENING PARTY
los angeles, california
wednesday
june 5, 2024
6:30pm
i arrived at the venue in los angeles, where my small listening party would be held. the place was intimate and cozy, with soft lighting and a small couch set up at the front.
i took a deep breath, mentally preparing myself for the performance. i was excited and nervous at the same time. my producer came up to me, checking to see if i was okay.
he patted my shoulder reassuringly. "hey, you got this. these fans are going to love the song." he said, trying to calm my nerves.
i nodded, taking in his words of encouragement. "yeah, you're right. i can do this." i said, feeling a bit more confident.
"and callum still doesn't know anything about the song?" he asked with raised eyebrows.
i shook my head, and laughed softly. "he knows i have a song coming out tonight but he has no clue what it's about...and he's been begging to hear a snippet."
my producer chuckled, amused by callum's eagerness to hear the song. "well, he's in for a surprise then." he said, clearly looking forward to the moment when callum heard the song for the first time.
"hey, is my super special guest here?" i asked as i took a seat on the couch.
my producer nodded. "yeah, she's here. she's just in the other room, waiting for her cue to make her entrance."
i smiled, feeling another wave of excitement wash over me. "perfect. i can't wait to see everyone's reactions when they find out who it is."
my producer looked up noticing the fans trickling in. "i think that it's your time to shine." he said before leaving.
i took a deep breath, feeling the nerves creep back in. but i pushed them aside and smiled at my fans as they took their seats.
the room was now filled with fans, all of them looking excited and eager for the performance. i felt a surge of adrenaline as i took my place on the couch, facing the audience.
i laughed softly and shook my head, "sorry this is so weird."
the fans chuckled, knowing that i was prone to being a little awkward at times. i smiled, glad that they were already enjoying themselves.
i took a deep breath and began to speak, trying to gather my thoughts. "uh, hi, everyone. first off, i just wanna say thank you all for being here. and i'm sure you all had to fight to get your tickets to be here...but i really appreciate each and every one of you."
the fans cheered and clapped, clearly excited and grateful to have the chance to attend the small listening party. i took another breath and continued speaking.
"so...since you're all here, i'm not going to keep you waiting anymore." i said, feeling the anticipation building. "i'm going to sing you my new song. it's called, 'sweet relief,' and shoutout to north west for the name."
the fans laughed again, clearly amused by north's contribution. i smiled, feeling more relaxed and comfortable now that the conversation had turned more casual.
"so this song...it's basically about seeking comfort and connection in times of loneliness and despair. it's about having found that someone or something to help you feel better, and give you the sense of relief from everything."
the fans nodded, their expressions showing that they could relate to the message of the song. i smiled, feeling a sense of connection with them.
"you know, sometimes, when you're at your lowest point, all you need is a little sweetness to make you feel better." i said, feeling a hint of vulnerability in my voice.
the fans looked at me with empathetic eyes, knowing that this was a moment of sharing a personal aspect of my life. i took another breath and continued.
"so here's, 'sweet relief.'"
i began singing the song, pouring my heart and soul into every word and note. the room was silent, the fans hanging on to every syllable. i could feel the emotion building inside me, and tears welled up in my eyes.
when i finished the song, the room was still silent for a moment. and then the fans started clapping and cheering, their applause echoing through the venue. i smiled, feeling a mix of relief and joy.
i turned to the door, signaling for the last component of the listening party to enter. the fans looked at each other, curious and excited to see who would walk through the door.
the door slowly opened, and a familiar figure walked in. the fans gasped and whispered among themselves, recognizing the person instantly.
as lana del rey entered the room, the fans couldn't hold in their excitement. some of them gasped, others whispered and pointed, clearly in awe of the surprise appearance.
lana walked towards the couch with a shy smile on her face. the fans watched in amazement as the two of us shared a brief hug.
once we were both seated on the couch, i looked out at the fans, feeling a sense of pride. "i think you guys know who this is." i said, gesturing towards lana. "so, meet lana del rey." i then looked at her and spoke quietly, "i've been meaning to ask you...should i call you lana or lizzy?" i asked referring to her real name, elizabeth.
lana laughed softly and gave me a small smile. "you can call me lana...i'm used to that one." she said, her voice soft and sweet.
i grinned, glad to have that cleared up. the fans continued to watch, their expressions a mix of surprise and excitement.
"so i'm sure you all know that lana and i made a song together, 'velvet elvis.' and i figured we should sing it for you guys." i said as i looked at the audience.
lana nodded in agreement, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "sounds great." she said, clearly looking forward to performing with me.
i gestured for one of my producers to cue up the music. the fans watched in anticipation, their phones and cameras already out to capture the moment.
once the music started, lana and i began singing the song together, our voices harmonizing perfectly. the fans sang along, knowing every word by heart.
as we finished the song, the fans cheered and clapped louder than before. i looked at lana, feeling a sense of connection and friendship with her.
the two of us bowed jokingly and thanked the fans, feeling a sense of fulfilment from the amazing performance. the listening party was a success, and the fans had loved every moment of it.
as the applause died down, i took a moment to look out at the fans, feeling grateful for their support and love. "thanks for coming out, guys. this was amazing." i said, my voice filled with joy. "if you all want pictures or to talk come on over and i'd love to. there's exclusive merch at the desk right there," i said as i pointed to a desk that my producer was working. "and the guy working it is a genius. that's my super awesome producer." i said with a small laugh.
the fans laughed and applause, clearly enjoying my banter. i looked at lana, giving her a smile. "you ready to meet the fans?" i asked her, knowing that the fans were eager to speak to her as well.
lana smiled and nodded, a hint of excitement in her eyes. "yeah, let's go." she said, clearly ready to engage with my fans.

CALLUM'S HOME
los angeles, california
11:58pm
quickly i ran to callum's front door and knocked on it.
callum opened the door, his expression surprised and amused. his hair was tousled and he was in a white t-shirt and grey sweatpants. "whoa, hey...what's going on?"
"thank god you're awake!" i said with a big smile.
callum chuckled, clearly intrigued by my excitement. he leaned against the door frame and gave me a sly grin. "of course i'm awake, i wanted to be the first one to hear the recorded version of your new song." he said emphasizing the work recorded.
i raised my eyebrows, "is someone salty that they didn't go to the listening party?"
callum rolled his eyes playfully, knowing that i had caught him. "i'm not salty, i'm just curious as to why i wasn't invited." he said, trying to sound nonchalant.
i couldn't help but smile at his response, knowing that he was secretly bummed about not being there. "because i wanted to surprise you with it one on one. plus, i can perform it live for you anytime."
callum chuckled, clearly enjoying the banter between us. "oh yeah, you mean like right now?" he asked jokingly.
i grinned and nodded, clearly up for the challenge. "yeah, right now." i said before i moved closer to him and pushed him back into the house, closing the door after myself. i looked over and saw bear running towards me. callum and i switched where bear stayed every now and then. "hi baby!"
bear barked happily and wagged his tail, clearly excited to see me. i bent down to pet him, scratching behind his ears. callum watched us with a smile, clearly enjoying the sight of me and bear together.
"it's midnight!" callum called out as he looked at the gifted rolex watch on his wrist.
i stood up, still petting bear, and looked at callum's watch. "yeah, it's time." i said, feeling excited and slightly nervous.
callum walked over to me, now standing close, he was a head taller than me. "ready?" he asked, a smirk spreading across his face.
i nodded, feeling a mix of anticipation and excitement. "ready as i'll ever be." i said, looking up at him. he wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me closer to him.
suddenly i felt butterflies fluttering in my stomach. being this close to him always had this effect on me. i could feel his body heat and the steady rise and fall of his chest.
callum looked down at me with a small smile, clearly noticing my reaction to his touch. "you nervous?" he asked, his voice gentle and reassuring.
i shook my head before i pulled him into his living room and sat on the couch. "i'm nervous for your reaction really."
callum followed me to the couch and sat down next to me. he chuckled softly, clearly amused by my admission. "why are you nervous about my reaction? you know i'll love it."
i rolled my eyes playfully, trying to act nonchalant. "yeah, i know you will...but i don't want you get weirded out by it." i said, feeling the pressure of anticipation building inside me.
callum's expression softened and he reached out to take my hand in his, intertwining our fingers. "hey, i promise i won't get weirded out. you can sing about anything, and it'll be amazing." he said, squeezing my hand softly. with his free hand he picked up the roku remote and started to scroll for the spotify icon.
i took a breath and nodded, feeling slightly reassured by his words. i watched as callum finally found the spotify app and began scrolling through my profile. he then typed in the title 'sweet relief' and pressed play.
the opening notes filled the living room, and i felt my heart rate speed up. i watched callum's expression closely as he listened to the song. his eyes were locked on mine, looking intently into them. feeling nervous i hid myself in his chest.
callum wrapped his arm around me, embracing me and bringing me closer to him. he whispered soothing words into my hair as he continued listening to the song. he could feel my heart beating faster than ever.
as the chorus hit, i heard callum's breath hitch slightly. he held me even tighter, his hand rubbing gentle circles on my back. i couldn't see his face, but i could feel the emotions radiating from him.
the song continued, the words laying out my heart and feelings. callum listened to every word without saying anything, just holding me in his arms.
as the last note faded away, the room fell silent. callum didn't let go of me, still holding me close against his chest. i could feel his heart beating against his chest as he processed the song.
eventually, i pulled away slightly and looked up at him. his expression was hard to read, a mix of emotions swirling in his eyes. he took a moment before speaking, clearly still affected by the song.
"wow, that was-" callum started but stopped himself, clearly struggling to find the right words. he looked down at me, his eyes filled with a mixture of awe and affection.
i waited anxiously for him to finish his sentence, feeling my stomach flip. i searched his face for any hint of how he was feeling.
callum finally spoke again, his voice playful. "was that song about me?" he asked with a wide smile.
i couldn't help but laugh, feeling relieved that he had taken it as a positive reaction. "maybe." i said, a smile spreading across my own face.
callum chuckled, clearly enjoying my coy response. "well, i feel flattered." he said, pulling me back into his chest. he planted a kiss on top of my head. "i loved it, kace. i loved every second of it."
a wave of relief washed over me, hearing his sincere reaction. i snuggled into his embrace, feeling content and safe in his arms. "i'm glad you did." i said, my voice slightly muffled against his chest.
callum tightened his hold on me, continuing to rub soothing circles on my back. "i don't think anything i can do will surpass you and your song but i love you."
i smiled at his words, feeling my heart flutter at his declaration of love. i looked up at him, meeting his gaze. "i love you too." i said softly, my voice filled with affection.
callum beamed at my response, clearly touched by my words. he leaned down and captured my lips in a tender kiss, expressing his own love and gratitude.
as our kiss deepened, i felt all the stress and worry from the day melt away. being with callum always had that effect on me. i wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer as we continued to kiss.
after a few moments of blissful oblivion, callum reluctantly pulled away, panting slightly. he looked down at me with a smile, his eyes still filled with love. "you're amazing, you know that?"
i felt my cheeks flush at his compliment, still feeling the warmth of his kiss on my lips. "i think you're biased." i said with a teasing smile.
callum chuckled, clearly enjoying the banter between us. "maybe i am, but that doesn't make it any less true." he said, gently caressing my cheek with his thumb.
i couldn't help but lean into his touch, the simple gesture bringing me comfort. i looked up at him, feeling a mix of love, trust, and happiness. "you're pretty amazing yourself, you know?"
callum smiled at my words, clearly touched by my compliment. he intertwined his fingers with mine and brought my hand up to his lips, gently kissing the back of it. "well, i guess we make a pretty amazing couple then." he said, a hint of cockiness in his tone.
i laughed, shaking my head at his arrogance. "yeah, we definitely do." i said before i reached up to playfully flick his forehead.
as callum rubbed his forehead jokingly, i couldn't help but feel a surge of affection for him. his playful banter always had a way of making my heart flutter. i looked up at him, my eyes locked on his, and without warning, i leaned in and kissed him again. this time, the kiss was more passionate and hungry.
callum seemed momentarily surprised by my bold move, but quickly recovered and kissed me back with equal fervor. his hands moved to my waist, pulling me closer against him. his lips moved against mine, his tongue brushing against mine.
the intensity of the kiss grew as we continued to explore each other's mouths. my hands found their way into his hair, running my fingers through the soft locks. his hands grip my waist tighter, holding me close. the world around us faded away as we lost ourselves in each other.
