in which you go to Ryan's apartment, only to find out that he almost burned it down making cheesy bread.
(hey, i got this idea when i was rewatching the mysterious death of the eight-day bride. sue me.)
(just pretend you're a third member of the Tasting Trio, with Steven and Andrew on Worth It!)
Y/N's POV
I sighed as Steven pulled up to the Buzzfeed offices, my stomach about to explode. I glanced at Adam and Andrew, who looked to be in similar states.
We had just finished an episode of Brunch Worth It, and I had just consumed half my body weight in cheesy goodness. I didn't regret it for a second however, even when just moving hurt.
The most expensive brunch layout had been a whole feast, with about twenty dishes of some of the richest food I'd ever eaten. And the four of us ate ten dishes each.
Steven let out a loud groan, which was basically how I felt. Andrew sighed, and collapsed into a chair as soon as we got inside, Adam and I following suit. Steven tried to sit down, but just landed on my lap, not even getting a complaint from me.
We sat in pained silence, trying to consider what the fuck just happened. I glanced around the offices, seeing almost no one there other than the Ladylike crew and...just Shane? Where was Ryan?
The Spooky Boys were smack dab in the middle of season five, so it was a bit strange not to see them both typing and editing away at their footage. I managed to shove Steven off me into the chair at my side, where he sighed and collapsed. Adam was already snoozing away in his chair, one hand propped up on his camera, and Andrew flipping through his phone lazily.
I stood up, albeit a bit wobbly, and walked over to their desks, where the horrifying face swap picture hung in between them. Shane had a half-full cup of coffee next to him, and he was rapidly cutting out footage and typing in captions where it was needed, occasionally laughing at bits and parts of the video. Pictures of him and Sara, Ryan and Shane, and the Worth It crew were strung all around his desk.
However, where the other, anxious and believing spooky boy, Ryan Bergara, should have been, was only a empty spinning chair. His computer was logged out, showing the group potluck that the Worth It boys had hosted, with Ryan beaming and blushing at the camera, while I gave him a quick peck on the cheek.
I remembered that potluck like a beaming star in my memories. The one where Rie made cream puffs with wasabi, and Shane, Ryan, and myself ended up getting all three.
I had a feeling that Rie was up to something, especially when she had a wicked smirk upon the three of us picking our puffs.
It was beautiful, with the three of us just coming together, as Andrew and Steven refused to let me help them cook. I had no clue why at the time, but I realized after it was to set me up with Ryan.
Assholes.
That potluck was when I realized that he was amazingly cute.
My heart had plunged into the abyss that people called love.
I looked around his desk. A half full, cold cup of coffee, pens scattered everywhere (one in his coffee?) , and files open on his desk with different cases. I took a glance at the one open, and realized that it was the Black Dahlia case all over again.
I shrugged. I heard a lot about the case opening up again, so it figures they would do it again, because it was one of their first episodes. But that didn't explain where Ryan was.
I rounded on Shane. He looked up, and gave me a smile. "Hey, Y/N! Are you looking for Ryan?" I nodded, tapping my fingers on the desk nervously. Shane sighed.
"Ryan logged out early, saying that he needed to go and make something for you." I blinked in surprise. "For me?" (666 words uwu end me)
He nodded. "Did he tell you what it was?" Shane shook his head. "He was working like usual, and then he checked his watch and jumped up, telling me where he was going, and ran off. I really didn't think much of it. This is Ryan we're talking about."
I sighed. He had a point. I waved Shane goodbye, to which he responded with a middle finger, and went back to his work. I would never understand him.
I ran past the open lobby area, where Andrew and Steven were dozing away lightly, curled towards the other in different chairs, with Adam snoring loudly. I shook my head. Those two needed to get together already.
I dashed outside to my own car, sliding inside to the beat of Chlorine by Twenty One Pilots starting up, and peeled my car out of the small lot.
