here's a tutorial for pc users mostly, to make the most out of your beautiful fonts hope it helps and feel free to ask questions if any of it sound confusing

 i. so to those that don't know there are certain fonts with glyphs, extras, alternate characters, etc. and a way to access these is a built-in software called
"Character Map"

ii. click the "Advanced View" below to see more of the options

iii. click on the "Group by" dropdown and scrolldown to see the "Unicode Subrange" option and a new small window will pop up

iv. scroll down the new small window and click on "Private Use Characters" now you can see these pretty alternate characters, just double-click on a character and copy it from the space below

v. sometimes not all glyphs and extras for a certain font don't show up on the Private Use Characters option, so feel free to check out other options to make sure you're not missing on anything

vi. (for Photoshop users) there's a handy menu on the "Characters" window that shows you the glyphs and extras as you use the font
