Title: Best Friends

     "oi, hyejoo! did you do your homework?" jihyun shook the sleeping girl's figure as she tried her best to duck down to avoid getting caught by the teacher.

     as hyejoo heard the other girl's statement, she immediately rose up with eyes widened in surprise and panic.

     "shit," she cursed, "we have homework?!"

     "yes, we fucking do, now do them before ms. shin asks for them!" jihyun gave the girl an apologetic smile.

     as hyejoo scrambled to get to her desk, she could still hear the other girl giggling at her. hearing it annoys hyejoo and at the same time gives her butterflies.

     "since i'm in a good mood today, i'll distract ms. shin while you do your homework. thank me later!" jihyun said sweetly, giving her notebook where all the answers are written before walking away from the girl.

     the rest of the class went smoothly until the teacher finally looks for the homework she gave everyone. jihyun looked towards hyejoo as she gave her a wink before running towards the front where their teacher sits.

     jihyun slid into the empty space next to their teacher. "hey ms. shin, sorry for being late."

     "you weren't late at all, ms. hwang. please go back to your seat."

     as hyejoo hurried copying the answers to her own notebook, she took a glance at jihyun, who was obviously wearing her mischievous smirk. a sign she got many tricks up her sleeve.

     "oh i was actually talking about the other day!" jihyun giggled. ms. shin looks at her in the eye before crossing her arms, "you're never late to any of my class. now please, go back to your seat, ms. hwang."

     hyejoo silently laughs at her best friend's antics. she spared some time to look at everyone and it seems like most of them forgot about their homework as well, silently thanking jihyun for being the hero who has come to save the day.

     "i was actually late once and i guess you didn't noticed it."

     "i appreciate your honesty, ms. hwang. may i know the reason why you were late that time?" the woman asked, waiting for jihyun's response. of course, she's an expert at making up excuses.

     "well... you see..." jihyun started, fiddling her thumbs to make it look convincing while thinking of how to tell the story, "it all starts when i met this very cute guy named seungkwan!"

     "and what does he have anything to do with this?" the woman asked curiously.
"hehe~ i can't say much without him knowing! i have his number by the way!"

     jihyun said proudly and the rest of the classroom burst out laughing. even hyejoo can't hide her smile as she saw the red hue forming on jihyun's cheeks.

     after everyone had finished laughing and calmed down again, the bell rang, indicating the end of class for now.

     "oh, sorry for the wasted time, ms. shin! i hope you have a great day! and also, please keep our secret, okay?" jihyun gestured an okay sign as everyone bursted out laighing again with her jokes.

     "expect me to be trusted. i'll just have everyone give their homeworks to you, ms. hwang. and i'll be expecting you to deliver it to me back in the teacher's room." she says while piling up her things to get ready to leave the room.

     "thank you so much, ms. shin!" jihyun chirped excitedly, earning a nod from their teacher in return.

     everyone cheered after the teacher left, thanking jihyun for saving their forgetful butts. while everyone was busy celebrating, hyejoo remained sitting on her seat, quickly finishing copying jihyun's notes.

     a sudden voice made her jump in surprise, causing her to drop a piece of paper on her lap. she felt someone looking at her direction, which is probably jihyun. she quickly turned around, trying her best not to show how startled she felt earlier.

     when she looked ahead, she locked eyes with jihyun's as she felt her heart beating in an unusual pace. hyejoo could see herself staring back in surprise, causing her best friend to chuckle softly before smiling brightly at her.

     "what the fuck, jihyun?" hyejoo whisper shouted, feeling herself blushing heavily. the other girl's laugh only grew louder, making her feel more flustered.

     if she was anyone else, she would've already told the other person to shut up and get lost. but there's no denying that her heartbeat picked up the slightest bit when they were making eye contact.

     "shut up, i'm trying to finish this homework as fast as i can." hyejoo pouts and turns her face forward again.while she busy concentrating, she can hear jihyun still chuckling softly as she watches the brunette working her way through the assignment.

     she doesn't seem bothered, which is good. she continued working diligently until the last few words on the page appeared. then, she leaned back and sighed, satisfied.

     "are you done?" asked jihyun with a sweet smile curved up on her face. "yeah. here." hyejoo handed her notes back, whispering a soft thank you.

     when jihyun took hold of the paper, she could still feel how their hands brushed against each other, sending shivers throughout her body.

     hyejoo tried her hardest to calm her heart down after experiencing such an unpleasant sensation, but it's proving to be quite hard.

     her best friend always manages to make her lose focus everytime since she first met her. but now, everything seemed to stop whenever she was around her, leaving her completely oblivious to her surroundings. and it's frustrating because she really wants to take control over this situation.

     "you're welcome!" jihyun replied with a cheeky grin. everything suddenly felt like it was warm and radiating happiness after that smile, hyejoo smiled unconsciously to it.

     her eyes were still stuck on jihyun's pretty lips, so when the latter started speaking to her again, she snapped out of her daze and responded to whatever jihyun asked her.

     "sorry, what?"

     "you're zoning off. don't worry about it, i wasn't asking you something important." jihyun shook her head and laughed.

     the girl couldn't help but find jihyun too adorable right now and that was definitely not helping her self control.
hyejoo internally groaned, frustrated with herself for not listening properly.

     the other girl only looked at her with an emotionless expression.

     hyejoo was about ask again what she was talking about but then a student entered the room, "hey jihyun, hurry up! lip's being a total jerk now since she's so done waiting for you," reminded sooyoung as jihyun laughed at her statement.

     jihyun stood up and stretched her arms before saying her usual goodbye, "i guess, i'll get going for now. see you later, joo!"

     as soon as she closed the door behind her, hyejoo exhaled deeply. she knew that she should be focusing on her schoolworks and ignoring the fact that she's crushing on her best friend.

     "she'll never like me back."

     "so jihyun, how did it go? did you finally asked her out?"

     sooyoung wrapped her arms around the said girl's shoulders, as jungeun walked ahead of them but backwards. "yeah! i bet she said yes," exclaimed jungeun.

     jihyun could only laugh at the two as she shook her head, "no, she zoned out when i asked her if she wanna hangout."

     "wait, so you didn't ask her on a date?" asked sooyoung, disappointed. jungeun rolling her eyes at that before reaching out to sooyoung just to smack her head for being stupid, "she said she did, dumbass. hyejoo just didn't heard it."

     "that sucks," the tallest whined, "but you'll ask her out again, won't you?" jungeun nods enthusiastically, smiling along with sooyoung.

     "i don't know... she's gonna think i'm weird or something... and i'll make a fool of myself." jihyun replied, sighing. "after all, we're just best friends."

     "she'll never like me back."
