A couple of months later
Third Person's POV

Sydney didn't know what she was getting into at school as the last week of school is always pleasing, because the older students (talking about seniors), don't have to be at school all day.

Which is a good thing because who wants to be there all day? So, being at school for eight hours anyway?

Thanks to the gods in heaven, Amelia won't be at school today, which is a good thing because Sydney would probably strangle her. Now that Beth is dead, Annie and her sister moved in with their grandparents; their grandmother, Gisele, and their grandfather Charles.

Who was ironically in the Army when Rossi was there but in a different department as he wasn't a soldier? He was a doctor.

"Okay, line up, single file." Their teacher says as a couple of students talk under their breaths as Annie is ecstatic about this particular field trip. Then again, why wouldn't she? They're walking into the BAU.

Luckily, in this particular class, there aren't that many students (let's just say 15). At least five of them act like children and throw tantrums.

They walk into the BAU, as they are on the first level where the receptionists are. Annie and Sydney tuned out the tour guide as they were in the back of the group. A couple of hours later, some students were getting bored, as they were having a break, and when Sydney and Annie saw that the coast was clear, they made a beeline toward the elevator.

Did the teacher question? No. Which is a good thing, then again he doesn't care.

They had a forty-five-minute break, and what better way to do that is to bug Penelope? The two girls are walking around like they own the place which they do. It's just not official yet.

"Hey, girls, is the boring field trip downstairs?" JJ asked as she was the first one out of the team to spot the two girls.

Derek was glaring at Sydney for the prank that she and Spencer pulled a couple of months ago. Of course, he's forgiven Sydney, but now that she petrified him with the snake in the drawer, he now has to check his drawers every day for a snake to be in there. Sydney gave him an innocent wave of her hand.

"Why are you here anyway?" Derek asked. "You're supposed to be at school." He states.

"Field trip," Annie says. "Which is downstairs in the lobby."After Annie says that, Derek nods his head.

"Right, and exactly why are you up here?" He asked as Sydney groaned.

"Stop. With. The. Follow-up. Questions." Sydney says. "I deal with that with boy wonder here, every day. I don't need to add you to that list."

"You love me, right?" Derek asked as Sydney stuck out her tongue as she and Annie walked in the direction of Penelope's cave, ignoring Derek as he went back to doing his paperwork.

Annie went to knock on the door to Penelope's office, but it was already open, as it was empty. Sydney went to the secret stash of Penelope's snacks that she had.

"Hey, pretty ladies." A voice said, which made Annie scream a little she turned around, and it was Penelope.

"Shit." The teenager says as Penelope gives her a sympathetic look.

"Sorry," Penelope says as Annie gives her a small smile.

"She hasn't been sleeping well, lately, so she's a bit...um jumpy," Sydney says as Penelope tilts her head a little when Sydney says that.

"Whys that?" Penelope asked her as Annie sat down in Penelope's chair, and played with a squishy toy.

"It's nothing bad, just my grandparent's health isn't the greatest now, and Amelia doesn't wanna help out, so it's always me that's doing it. I've been getting burned out and on edge and jumpy because of that." Annie explains to her. "Then at school, my sister is a bitch which is nothing new, but still." She adds as Penelope gives her a small frown. "I can't leave or stay with anyone because someone has to be there for my grandparents, then again, they're both old, so... yeah." She adds again as Penelope nods her head.

"Do you have anything planned this weekend?" Penelope asked Annie shook her head.

"No, not really, why. What were you thinking?" Annie asked as Penelope had a small smile.

"I can help out if you'd like, so you can relax, so you don't continue burning out. I just wanna help you. If that's alright." Penelope says as Annie immediately nods her head.

"Yeah, I don't think Amelia is going to be at the house anymore. She's been with her boyfriend and his friends." Annie says as Penelope gives the girl a big hug, and the girl hugs her back. Annie melted a little in Penelope's arms as it felt good. They stayed like that for a few moments until there was a knock on the door.

The two girls turned around to see Derek. "You two good?" He asked as Annie hesitantly nodded her head.

"I'm going to be helping Annie this weekend. Giving her a break because she's getting burned out because her plate is ginormous, and it's overwhelming for her." Penelope tells him as he nods his head Penelope has an arm around Annie.

"Why, what's wrong?" He asked as Sydney had left to fill up her water bottle in the break room.

"My grandparents. Their health isn't good anymore, and they are also trying to finish school so I can graduate and then take them to their appointments, clean the house, and my job, and keep Amelia in line. It's all too much, and I'm about to snap and it's not gonna be good." Annie rambles as Derek nods his head at her. "Also because my sister doesn't help as she should be doing. It's stressful."

"I can see what me and Savannah are gonna do and I can help too," Derek says as Annie sighs happily.

"Thank you. I appreciate it. I do." Annie says to Derek as he nods his head. He'd do anything for the girl. Outside of Syd, Penelope, and Savannah, Annie comes next in line to be his favorite girl. Just don't tell his sisters and mom.

When Annie and Sydney and the rest of the class got back to school, they had a free period which typically meant that Sydney was bugging either, her dad, Derek, or Penelope. Or sometimes JJ or Hotch even though he would just leave her on 'read' and or say that he was busy.

But today she decided to bug Owen who is in California or somewhere out west. She doesn't remember, he's finishing high school. Though the last time they talked he said, that he was gonna go through training as he wants to be somewhere in the FBI. He hasn't figured that out yet, as where he is at high school, he's been taking some college classes to help him pursue a career in the law enforcement field.

After Sydney was done talking to Owen, she had a small smile as she was bouncing her leg. Annie looked at her friend with a small smile, as she knew who Sydney was talking to.

As Sydney is developing a crush and liking of Owen these past couple weeks. "Alright, ass report time. You all have homework, which is a one page report that is due in a week." Their teacher Amanda Hansen says which made the students groan. "But it should be easy for some of you who are smarter than others." Hansen says looking directly making the teenager roll her eyes. Hansen doesn't really like Sydney because of how smart she is. Then again, looking at who her father is.

After given their assignments, the bell rang which signaled the end of class. Annie and Sydney packed their stuff before Mrs. Hansen stopped them.

"Wilson go. Reid stay, for what I like to call detention." Hansen says as Sydney sat in a random desk.

The teenager had her arms crossed over her chest as she leaned back in the chair. "For what? Hmm?"

"Rudeness, having an attitude. I have called your father and he will be here shortly." Hansen says as just when Sydney was about to open her mouth the door opened and there was Spencer.

Sydney looked down before glaring at the teacher for being petty. Mrs. Hansen has tried every form of punishment for Sydney and her 'rudeness' and for having 'an attitude', but every time she was one step ahead of him.

"What did she do now, Amanda?" Spencer asked irritated as he pinched his nose as Sydney was smirking. Knowing that she wouldn't get into trouble.

"That brat had an attitude all day. Every time I looked at her she rolled her eyes." Hansen says making the teenager scoff which got their attention.

"All teenagers have attitude and quite frankly I don't care. Why, because you have been calling my father non-stop every day for the past three months, all because I have an 'attitude'. Its not a pressing concern right now, so shut your mouth before I shut it for you." Sydney says getting into her teacher's face. "Also, um honey. My dad doesn't like when people call me a brat, so I'd watch it. He tends to go all bear mode, since my mother died when I was six from a horrible car accident. That caused her to die a very tragic death. Which is very sad, so shut up."

"Do you practice that before night time." Hansen says as the two Reid's glare at the teacher before Sydney walked back to the desk and grabbing her bag.

"Lets go. Before I lose my mind." Sydney says before she headed towards the door with Spencer following behind her. Before they started laughing at Syd's story of how her mother 'died'. As it was completely made up.

"You came up with that didn't you?" Spencer asked as Sydney nodded her head.

"Yup....did you like it?" She asked as they got into the car. Sydney tossed her bag in the backseat, as Spencer turned on the car, before backing up.

"I did actually. It was very...dramatic." Spencer says as Sydney raised a bow. Well as much as she could since they were in the car and without hitting her dad in the face.

"That was the plan." Syd says.

✧・゚: *✧・゚:*

They got to the apartment Syd got out of the car. She grabbed her backpack. "You good, Syd?" Spencer asked his daughter as she was quiet for the remaining way back home.

Syd looked up as she always seems to be lost in her thoughts whenever her dad is around. "Uh, yeah." Sydney said as Spencer gives her a look as she sighs knowing now she can't get out of it.

"Syd..?" He says as there was a moment of silence between the two. But luckily something interrupted the conversation as it was Spencer's phone,as they had a case. Sydney was forever grateful it happened.

"We'll talk when I get back, got it." Spencer says which shocked Sydney a bit. It was the tone of his voice that shocked her. It sounded weird, like when a kid gets that talk that 'they'll talk later'.

Sydney almost didn't say anything, and Spencer was gone before Syd knew it. It was like she blinked and he was gone.

A couple minutes after she knew that her dad was gone, she got her keys and her skateboard, and go to a diner for dinner. She needed to get her mind off of the conversation that she would be having with him, when he would come back.

After Sydney got back from the diner her dad wasn't back yet which was a good thing. She knew that she had to tell him eventually, just didn't know to.

In the meantime of her dad not being back, she decided on drawing as she hasn't done it in a hot minute. What felt like forever but was four gruesome hours later, she heard her dad coming in. He was talking to someone, and Sydney being nosy self decided to go eveasdrop. For some gossip to Penelope, and Derek's new girlfriend, Savannah which is Sydney's new favorite person.

Savannah passed Sydney's oddly high standards of girlfriends that's good enough for her. Savannah called the girl cute and adorable, so she passed that. "Syd, you awake!" She heard her dad as she comes out of her room looking like a burrito, well more accurately a cacoon.

"I'm right here, sheesh." She joked to her dad, who grinned as he kissed her head.

"What did you have for dinner" He asked as he set his stuff on what used to be their dining room table, but is now full of paperwork, and books, mainly Spencer's, and some Lego sets that Sydney would do with Jack. He got her into Legos, so its their thing that they do together.

"Went to that diner down the street, got some uh chicken tenders and mac and cheese. You know how KFC bas those mac and cheese bowls, or something. I made my version just without the gravy because thats disgusting, and the mashed potatoes." Sydney rambles which made Spencer feel a little happier knowing that she actually ate food.

"I didn't know that, so I got some Chinese." Spencer says as he opened the bag.

"Ooo, yummy." Sydney says, he got Sydney her bowl of rice and steak egg rolls. It's basic but to Sydney its the best thing ever. "You loooove me."

"Yeah, I know. Don't worry, I got you a Dr. Pepper." Spencer says as Sydney smiled.

"Thanks."
