Third Person's POV
It's been a couple of days since Sydney got grounded. Since then she's only slept once. She's had multiple bad nights since then. Which is making her irritable, agitated, and her snapping. She's afraid of talking about her problems. She's always bottling up her problems for so long that she's snapping, not intentionally. This is not like her, Prentiss suggests a therapist to help her talk, but she's refused and or declined a therapist.
She is currently blocking herself from everyone else. As they're on a case she locks herself in an abandoned room that they don't use. That's her hideout from the world, as it's a dark-lit room. She's put some TLC into it, as it's a spacious room. The only person to know about her secret hideout is Derek and Penelope, but she's bribed Penelope enough so that she won't tell Spencer.
She has some fairy lights in the room as the light's don't work, anyway. The others think that she's with Penelope, and or in the break room, but nope, she's in this room. To get in you need to go through the secret entrance that has a ten-digit passcode.
Sydney sighs happily as she is watching a crappy TV show that is oddly interesting, but she could care less about how crappy it was. Occasionally she would check her messages to see if any of the team had messaged her. So far she hasn't gotten anything. Yes she feels sorry for snapping on the team and with how her answers came out. She put some music on as she swept the floor and put the stuff in the waste basket.
Just then her phone rang which she stopped the music, and paused the TV and didn't bother to look to see who called. "What?" She asked to the person on the other end of the phone as she was sweeping the room because there was some crumbs.
"Hi, to you too." Was the voice of her father making her look at her phone and she saw it was her Dad who called.
"How can I help you?" She asks him as she puts the broom in the makeshift cabinet that was there.
"We are five minutes away."
"That fast? Damn."
"I know right, it was only four hours."
"Holy shit." Sydney says as she hears other voices in the background. "Can I talk to Derek?"
"Why?"
"Because. Just give him the phone."
"Fine." Spencer says as there was shuffling on his end as she has a smirk on her face as she is being handed to her favorite person.
"You rang?" Derek asks with a small smile on his face at hearing her voice. He lowkey missed it, so he was glad to hear it.
"I have a question?"
"Which is?" He questions as Spencer could hear some of their conversation, but what Derek is saying and not whatever Sydney asks.
"It's about a shelf, that's uneven."
"Yeah I can help you on that." He tells her knowing what she's talking about as Spencer looks at him like he's speaking a different language.
"Okay good, because it's crooked. Like way off."
"Yeah I can help you."
"This is why I love you." She says making him grinning even more.
"You're welcome, kiddo." He says before he hangs up and gives Spencer back his phone.
"I wanna ask, but also I don't wanna know. So I'm not gonna ask." Spencer tells him with a shake of his head of whatever was said between Derek and Sydney.
"Yeah, you don't wanna know." Derek says to Spencer as he goes back to listening to his music on his phone. Thank God that this time that Spencer isn't pranking him.

After the rest of the team got back to the BAU which was amazing for them as they have a break. Derek tries to sneak off to where Sydney was as he had high hopes that he would go undetected by Spencer. But sadly that doesn't happen.
"Where you going?" Spencer asks with a raised eyebrow as Derek has a look of confusion on his face as he tries to play it off cool, but Spencer is obviously a shit ton smarter than he is.
"Uhhh...." Derek says at a loss of words as he took a couple steps back and Spencer took a couple steps forward.
"Do you want me to ask you a million questions? Because I can, if you want me to." Spencer says to Derek as Penelope turned the corner but when she saw the scene between Derek and Spencer she went to walk off from this too but Spencer was smarter than that. "Garcia, come and have a word with us thanks?"
"Do I have to? I was uh, gonna get some coffee." Penelope says with a bag full of stuff that Sydney kindly asked her to get at the store for Derek. Well the stuff to fix the shelve.
"You suck at lying, so stop it."
"Why do you have a bag of stuff, from a hardware store? You don't build? That's Derek's thing."
"For your information--" Derek tries to intervene as Spencer gives him a look that makes him shut up.
"Anyway, why do you have the bag?"
"It's not from the uh hardware store."
"Why does it say it on the bag, then?"
"It's a reusable bag."
"Why is it plastic?"
"What are with these questions?"
"Where's Syd?"
"What?" A voice asks as Derek sighs to himself as Penelope turned around, as Sydney is covered in paint. As she's been painting the room where she's been hiding in.
After a moment of Spencer taking in his daughter's appearance of her being covered in paint. He doesn't want to question it but this is highly concerning, especially since Sydney doesn't paint. The only reason why she knows how to is from Derek.
"Why are you covered in paint?"
"Uhhh, b-b-because it's um v-v-very um t-t-therapeutic. I-i-it's working, it's t-t-therapeutic." Sydney says stuttering over her words as Spencer quirks a brow at his daughter who has a soft smile on her face that is the definition of innocent, well the best that she can do.
"Syd, pops is getting suspicious." Derek says in a sing-song voice that makes Sydney have a slight frown.
"Fine, wanna come on a ride of my hood."
"Your 'hood'? What does that mean?"
"Does it look like I know, I've been hanging around with that for too long."
"I am not a that."
Not even a minute later, Sydney opened the door to her hideout as it was a beautifully lit place by fairy lights because the actual lights don't work. Spencer looked around the room taking in everything as it was literally like Syd's personality. Random, and dark humored. With the fairy lights adding some touch.
"I love this." Spencer says as Sydney dragged Derek to where the shelve is and he works his magic and fixes it.
"How'd you do that?"
"Magic."
"Can I have some? That's no fair." Sydney says with a slight frown on her face as Derek gives her a cheeky grin on her face.
"Sorry kiddo." Derek says as he ruffled her hair before grabbing the lever making sure that the shelf was even.
"When did you do this?" Spencer asks as he sat in a chair.
Sydney pursed her lips as she looked down to her converse. They're suddenly more interesting. "I've had it for a couple months. It's like an escape, from my life." Sydney says to her Dad as he nods his head at her.
"I love it." He says as her small smile slowly grew. "Let me guess Morgan helped too."
"Yeah." Sydney says to her Dad as he couldn't help but smile as he smiled more when he saw Syd's stuffed elephant being put on the shelf by Derek.

Later that day
Sydney was snoring away taking a nap as she was bored out of her mind. What woke her up was hearing a phone ringing in the office. She groaned as now the phone ringing woke her up. She slowly got up and went to inspect the phone. When the phone rang again that's when Sydney found out that it was her dad's phone that was ringing.
Without looking to see who called she picked up the phone. "Hello?" Was the sleepy raspy voice of Sydney.
"Hey, Spencer, this is Maeve."
"This isn't..Spencer." Sydney said with a yawn.
"Oh, hey Sydney. How are you?" The woman asks as Sydney is confused as she moved the phone away from her ear and it said 'my love'. She was utterly confused of who this woman is. Let alone, how does she know her name?
"Uhhh, hi." Sydney says still being confused of who this woman was.
"I'm a friend of your dad's." Maeve says in a calm voice as Sydney walks back to her den.
"Oh, okay. Well honey, my daddy doesn't have any friends. Except for books, not in English for that matter."
"Good point. Um, can you give your Dad a message for me?" Maeve asked the teenager as she was still confused but she wasn't gonna say that to the woman, and come off rude.
Maybe its because she started her period. She still doesn't know.
"Sure, what can I do for ya?" Sydney said in a semi-sarcastic tone as she was clearly getting annoyed.
"Tell him he can cancel coming over to my place, to rearrange my kitchen. I'm going out of town for the weekend."
"Okay, yeah I'll make sure he'll get it. Have a nice day." Sydney says as after that he hung up on the woman. She sighed after semi annoyed that this woman had the audacity of interrupting her nap. How rude of her.
。ₓ ू ₒ ु ˚ ू ₒ ु ₓ。
A couple minutes later, Sydney still bad her dad's phone in her possession as she has questions for the genius. Starts off with how in the heck does this person know her name, and her in general? She's a little creeped out that this person knows her.
Also why is she 'my love' with a heart in her dad's phone. She was looking through her dad's phone to gather up information about this mystery woman, then she heard a knock on her door in her den.
"Whatcha doin' kiddo?" Was the voice of her practical best friend. Derek Morgan.
"Do you who Maeve is, because dad has some serious answers." Sydney replied as she was bust looking in her dad's phone. Then it was snatched from her, she frowned as she gave Derek a look of annoyance.
"Just because your dad's a profiler, doesn't mean you can profile his life, Syd." He says to her as a groan escaped from her mouth. But she didn't want to admit that he was right. That would be a chicken thing to do at the moment, and she's no chicken. She ain't gonna admit it, though.
"..and?" Sydney asks as it was Derek's turn to give her a look as she narrowed her eyes at him. He raised an eyebrow at her which made her sigh as more that she thinks about it, the more that it makes sense. "I don't like when you're right."
"Your welcome." He says with a cheeky grin that Sydney ignores at the moment, she wants to know where her father is.
"Where's Dad anyway?" She asks him as he cleared out any evidence that would suspect that Sydney had been on his phone.
"Talking to JJ and Emily."
"Bout what he has no life anyway." Sydney says to him as he shakes his head at her with makes her to continue giving him a 'duh' look.
"It's about a case." He says as she slightly rolls her eyes. Damn, I'm sassier than usual, shit.
"Of course it is." She says with a slight scoff escaping from her mouth as she thinks that this is ridiculous that her father knows her and that Maeve is 'his love' on her phone. It doesn't make sense, because Reid isn't one to keep secrets from his daughter at all. That's one of the 'rules' that they have placed in their relationship is 'no secrets', but then again Sydney lies to her father about her marks on her arms and legs from her su1c1de attempts over the years. So she shouldn't be the one to talk either. She's not as good as her father is at the moment.
"Did this person call your dad's phone?" Derek asked her as she nods her head as she went into the mini-fridge that she has and got a Dr. Pepper.
"Si senor." She says to him in a terrible Spanish accent. That made Derek crack a smile at her. He's always loved Sydney as she's like the daughter that he's never had. Then again he doesn't have any kids so it makes sense. Then again she is everyone's kid at this point considering how long she's been at the BAU. She's been here since she was a kid. It took her a while to open up to people, even Penelope and Hotch. Mainly Hotch because he scared her.
(I mean he rarely smiles and he has a resting bitch face, can you blame me)
He was the overall definition of creepy. She would literally cry in his arms, but she would fall asleep in Rossi's arms. She was weird and she still is weird, that part will never change. The only person that Sydney would talk to was Derek as they immediately clicked when they met. They've always had a special bond, that's unbreakable, it's a 'special bond', at least that'd what Derek calls it.
After she got close to Derek she got close to Penelope mainly because of the toys that Penelope has in her cave. So it made sense of that part.
Then obviously her dad, he's always been there for her. He would sleep with her in case she has nightmares and to also get her to fall asleep when she can't sleep. He's literally her best friend. Even if parents aren't supposed to be their children's best friend, he doesn't care.
"Yeah she gave me a message to tell Dad that she's going out of town and he can't re-arrange her kitchen." She tells him as he nods his head as he gave him a bottle of Dr. Pepper. He opened it and took a sip, before continuing what he was gonna say.
"Why does she need him to rearrange, her kitchen?" Derek asks her, as Spencer isn't one to rearrange stuff, if anything that's Sydney, considering that she has slight OCD. In all the years that he's known Reid, he isn't the one to rearrange. It's weird that this mystery person that he knows wants him to help her rearrange her kitchen.
"Does it look like she told me that details, but what I wanna know is how does she know me?" Sydney says to him in a 'duh' teenager tone that makes Derek shake his head at her, as he is keeping Spencer's phone on his possession so that Sydney doesn't go back into looking in her Dad's phone.
"Uh, genius maybe because your dad talks about you. That's something to look into." Derek tells her as she sticks out her tongue at him as an answer as he chuckles.
"Okay. Just because I do it to dad doesn't mean you can do it to me. That's no fair." Sydney says as Derek took another sip from the caffeinated drink that Sydney gave him.
"Yes, it does."
Just before the little debate can go on between the two, Spencer walks in a little panicked because he can't find his phone. But little does he know was that Sydney had it, and now currently Derek has it in his pocket away from Sydney's sneaky little hands. "Has anyone seen my phone? I can't find it anywhere."
"I got it, pretty boy."
"Okay great." Spencer says as Derek hands him his phone back as Sydney takes a sip from her soda. "I could have sworn that I left it on my desk, though. But oh well." He says as he opened up his phone and realized that Maeve had called earlier, as he quickly excused himself before walking out of the room and returning her call.
"You might wanna tell your Dad how his phone magically came to your den, missy." Derek says being right again, but Sydney doesn't want to admit it, because that would be no fun.
"That's no fun." Sydney says as Derek gave her a look and then not too long after that Spencer walks in.
"Did you grab my phone and answered her calling me."
"Yeah, it woke me up from my nap, it was annoying to be honest." Sydney somewhat admits to her father as Derek got up and grabbed his caffeinated drink and left the Syd's cave to give the father-daughter some privacy. Sydney mentally kicked herself when Derek left, she didn't want him to leave.
"Make sense, what did she say?"
"She can't have you come over and help her rearrange her kitchen because she's going out of town. I don't know I wasn't paying attention to the other details."
"Oh yeah, because she has a funeral to go to. Now that makes sense." He says to her as she nods her head pretending like she knows what's happening as she's playing a matching game on her phone. She lost interest in this conversation, two seconds after it started.
"Who died?" Sydney asked him as he texted her saying that he's sorry about the person who died.
"Uh, grandfather. He died from a heart attack."
"Yikers." Sydney says as she took one last gulp of her soda, before immediately cringing at it, as it was too big of a gulp that she could handle. She winced as it went down her throat, as she got the chills as it went down.
"Yeah, he died a couple days ago." Spencer tells her as she nods her head as that does make sense now that she thinks about it.
"Have you been talking about me? Because it freaked me out when she said my name. Like majorly freaked me out." Sydney says as she put the empty bottle in the recycling bin that is overflowing from stuff.
"Yeah."
"Why, there's nothing interesting in my life, besides I'm the daughter of a literal genius." She says as she sat back down in her chair as she continued playing her game on her phone.
"Come, on Syd, don't say that. There's a lot of interesting things in your life." Spencer says looking at her as she groans as she leans her head back, wanting to avoid this conversation.
"Great, this conversation, yippie." Sydney says sarcastically as Spencer gave her a look with a small shake of his head of his daughter being dramatic. Then again, he saw it coming because it is his daughter. Of course, she's gonna be a drama queen.
"Fine, what do you want for dinner?"
"Food." She says as she propped her legs on top of her Dad's as he didn't mind it as she always does it especially if they're sitting in front of each other.
"Be more specific."
"Being specific is boring, don't you know that?"
"Yes. Yes I did."
"Okay, then my point."
"Smart ass."
"Hey, I'd rather be a smart ass than a dumb ass, thank you."
"Yeah you're definitely my child."
"No shit genius."
"Oh my god."

But anyway, hope you have a good Thanksgiving!
