Third Person's POV
"Does anyone remember this picture?" Penelope asked as she had put a picture on a screen that Sydney had recognized it from the day of a school shooting in Boise, Idaho. Though she saw it in a movie when she was younger. It made her more curious.
"Hotch and I were there." Rossi said aloud. "That's Principal Doug Givens. We had to drag him to safety." He says.
"Um, high school bombing in Boise, right?" Sydney asks as the adults nodded their heads at her.
"School shooter and school bomber." JJ confirmed.
"A kid named Randy Slade shot three students and then set off an IED in the cafeteria via cell phone, killing himself and 13 kids total, but not before posting all of his plans online."
"My whole campus was glued to the TV." JJ adds.
"Last night, Principal Givens was killed by a bomb modeled exactly like the old one." Penelope tells the team.
"It feels like the unsub wants to attack the man who kept the school together after the bomb. It's a pretty symbolic target." Derek stated.
"Isn't this the week of the 10th anniversary of the massacre. Today is the first day of a 4-day event to commemorate the bombing at the school." Sydney says as Rossi gives her a confused look with a raised eyebrow.
"Except commemorating, it isn't enough for this unsub." JJ says.
"No. He wants to relive it." Hotch confirms.
"Not creepy at all." Sydney adds.
The team flew on the jet to Boise, as Hotch separated Sydney, JJ and Reid together to check out the crime scene in Principal Given's home. Once they entered, it was already a blood bath.
"So, the unsub has to be tied to the school somehow, right?" Sydney assumes. "Current student, alumni, family member who lost someone?"
"It could be a Slade groupie celebrating his hero." Reid suggested. "He taped nails to the exterior of the bomb, specifically to rip open flesh." JJ pointed out as Sydney gagged at hearing that.
"That's a sadistic detail of Slade's the unsub copied." Reid added.
"Except he tricked Givens into blowing himself up. A groupie probably wouldn't show that much self-control." Sydney says.
"But someone with an ax to grind against the principal would. Maybe he's a surrogate for the tormenters in high school he can't punish. Who were yours?" Reid asks looking towards JJ.
JJ shrugs as Sydney continued to look around the scene. "I don't even remember?" Sydney and Reid exchange looks. "You don't even remember?" Sydney asks as JJ shook her head.
"Wait, were you one of the mean girls?" Spencer asks as he couldn't help but ask.
"No." She says.
"Valedictorian, soccer scholarship, corn-fed, but still a size zero. I think you might have bene a mean girl." Spencer predicts as Sydney looked over at JJ.
"You gonna let dorkie talk to you like that?" Sydney asks JJ as she points to her Dad, not seeing the confused look that he is currently giving her.
"I'm not a 'dorkie'."
"Have you seen yourself?"
"I was actually one of the nice girls, even to guys like you." JJ tells the two Reid's.
"Guys like me?" Reid asks confused as Sydney tries to focus on the matter at hand but with these two it's hard for her to even concentrate.
"Reid, you are a genius, then and now. You're classified as a 'dorkie." JJ says.
"I'll have you know that my social standing increased once I start winning at basketball."
JJ gave Sydney a confused look as said daughter of Reid nods her head confirming. "You played basketball?"
"I didn't play. I coached basketball. I broke down the opposing team's shooting strategy." Reid says.
"...and yet, he's proud of that." Sydney jokes as Reid poked his daughter's head as she was walking around. "Am I wrong?"
"Yes."
"Is that why Morgan kicked you two out of the pool last week?" JJ asked.
"Yeah, took him three rounds to realize me and Dad were hustling him."

Soon enough another murder had occurred, Morgan, Rossi and Hotch arrived at Randy Slade's home to speak to his brother and his brother had mistakenly confirmed that his brother had a list of his targets and it was hidden in a book somewhere.
JJ, Reid and Sydney arrived at the crime scene with the police. JJ had called Hotch to deliver the news of the murder. "You're on speaker, JJ." Hotch answered. "So we might have another one." JJ says. "Might?" Hotch asked.
"One of the North Valley alumni was killed in her motel room. No bomb or gun this time." Sydney announced. "Looks like he used his bare hands." JJ adds. "You got a name?" Hotch asked. "Chelsea Grant."
They had found the list and Chelsea's name was on it. Reid had stayed to show Hotch the crime scene as Derek had picked up Sydney to think of ideas of pranking her Dad, and they came up with the perfect one.
Prentiss had decided to meet with the alumni to talk to them. Penelope had decided to speak with Hotch, JJ, Reid and Sydney about the list. "So, as you can see from your board there, this kill list is weirdly similar to high school. Group one is like the popular kids, which is the prom court, football team, Dean's list. The Heathers, if you will."
"Maybe Slade targeted them because they disgusted him?" JJ asks as Reid's cell phone beeps in his pocket as he ignores the call, as Sydney's smile keeps growing as that's Plan A of the prank war as her Dad doesn't know that she's helping Derek with the pranking.
"But they didn't threaten Slade's sense of superiority. He wouldn't have even cared about them." Hotch says. "All right, well, maybe the partner put them on the list. They'd be closer to his social status than Slade's." JJ says.
"Why would the---" Spencer's phone began to buzz again and he was getting annoyed with it as he ignored the call. "I'm so sorry. Why would the unsub list kids that he fit in with?"
Sydney cleared her throat before she began to make it look like she wasn't trying not to laugh at what's happening to her father. "Apparently, that's how this clique worked. The kids in it were meaner to each other than kids on the outside. Penelope, separate out all of the kids who got into trouble regularly. Then eliminate the names that the partner put on the list. Now, who's left that came to the memorial?"
"Right, my sweets, whoever made the list wouldn't put their names on it. Uh." There was a pause from Penelope which made Sydney's eyebrows narrow. "I think I got him."
Penelope had found a man named Lewis Ramsey. He was also the last person to see Chelsea.. He fit the profile, but he wasn't the unsub. Jerry Holtz one of the victims that Emily had spoke to, had been making part of his story up but she wasn't sure about it. After checking out the crime scene, Spencer had come up with the conclusion that the unsub could not feel pain. "There's a medical condition called pain aysmbolia, where patients regular harmful stimuli without being bothered by it. They've been documented their brain doesn't send pain signals to the central nervous system." Reid explains.
"Wouldn't it be nice to have that." Sydney said not realizing that she didn't say that in her head as JJ was the only one that wasn't looking at her like she's crazy. She understood why Sydney said that.
"Sounds pretty rare. You sure the unsub has it?" Rossi asks.
"The crime scene proves it." Spencer says. "This unsub displayed an unusual level of savagery towards his victims. And consider this--he was smashed through a glass display case but there were no cuts on Jerry. That means he most likely punched through it as a show of force. Now the only way the human body could withstand that level of pain is if he couldn't feel it at all."
"It must take a major toll on someone's emotional development." Rossi said as Spencer's phone began to buzz again.
"You don't have a girlfriend, so why is your phone going off." Sydney says as her and Derek grin as they fist-bumped each other.
"I don't know." Spencer says as he continued on.
"A significant contributor to our sense of empathy is the way we personally experience pain." Derek says.
"Does every person with a-asymbolia actually have this?" Sydney says stuttering over her saying that.
"Actually, most feel empathy just fine, which makes me think the rest of our profile is still accurate. Loner, invisible, outcast, boiling rage--" Spencer's phone buzzed once again and this time it really pissed him off. "Son of a bitch!" He exclaims as he decided to answer as he hug his phone out of his pocket and Morgan and Sydney held in a smug smirk towards him. "Hi! This is Dr. Spencer Reid. I actually can come to the phone right now with a very special message that your mother is--"
"Reid." Hotch scolded as Spencer hung up the phone. "Sorry. I'm really sorry. I don't know what got into me. Where were we?"
"I'm going to have Garcia check medical records. What causes asymbolia?" Hotch says as Spencer notices both Derek and Sydney's faces and realizes that they had something to do with why he was getting calls all day and night.
"S-s-severe trauma produces lesions, in the insular cortex, usually after a stroke. But this unsub's so young, it's most likely caused by an external factor." Spencer says as he keeps looking in Derek and Sydney's way and they're definitely guilty.
"Like a bomb going off next to him?" Rossi asks. "Yeah, like a bomb going off next to him." Spencer nods his head looking between Derek and Sydney.
"A very loud and messy...bomb." Sydney says as Derek had his arm around Sydney because she has balancing problems and she's leaning against him because of that. Which is why Spencer didn't think anything of it.
Hotch walked away as Reid began to collect the files and muttered under his breath. "I will crush you two." Derek and Sydney made eye contact before they both look at Spencer. "What?" Sydney says to her father. He looks up and looked directly at her as she didn't hide her smug smile. "What?"
With that he leaves as she was smiling like the Grinch, before her and Derek burst into laughter. "You know that he's gonna get you two? You know that right?"
"Ah shit." Sydney says before she tries to find a particular book that she prays that isn't in her father's hands. That book is valuable as it has pranks and ideas for pranks in that book.
Her father looked over his shoulder as it was time for Spencer to smirk smugly at his daughter which made her come to the conclusion that her father had took it when she wasn't looking.
Because during this case she was reading it, trying to figure out what to do for her Dad and to help Derek prank her father. "I'm screwed."

Thank God the team had found the unsub and Hotch had to kill him before the unsub could kill him and or anyone else. The unsub had been Bob Adams as Jerry Holtz had stolen his story and that decided to become his fate as he would become one of those people who had died.
Sydney sat beside her Dad as she was using his arm as a pillow not knowing what's coming. She tried taking her prank book that is currently in her father's arms but he wasn't budging so she stopped trying.
She knew that her prank had happened once she had seen Derek's confused look on his face as he immediately yanked off his headphones and Sydney's talking had interrupted him listening to his music.
"Hey Dare-bear, it's me your bestie westie, talking in your phone or where the fuck you're listening to make a special message called me screaming in your ear." *insert her screaming*
"Okay, kid, that was cute, but that's all you got?" Derek asked as Sydney didn't bother hiding her shitty grin that's on her face. Then Derek's phone rang as now came her father's prank. "Hey, baby gi--"
Her father's screaming was heard from his cell phone as Sydney gave her Dad a weird look. Rossi watched in amusement as Sydney giggled as Morgan shook his head. "Uh-uh. Alright, Reid, it's on. Just remember that payback's a bitch."
Then Sydney's phone rang and she picked it up. "Now, I think it's Pen." She says as she clicked. "Hey, wha---" Sydney then heard her father's screaming coming from the opposite side of the phone scaring Sydney. Derek chuckles as Sydney looks at her father who is 'sleeping' next to her.
"You asshat!" She shouts in his ear. Her father puts on the fake-snore act once again. "I know you're not sleeping, you don't snore!"

After they landed from the case and everyone else getting home because it was getting late in the first place. It's been a couple hours since Reid and Sydney had been around each other, as she came up from behind her father. "That was cruel and an unusual punishment."
"You're welcome, baby." Spencer says to his daughter as he packed up his stuff as she crosses her arms over her chest as she is glaring daggers at her father. She stuck out her tongue as she also blew raspberries at him which made him laugh at her. "You love me."
"At this point, it's debatable." Sydney says as Spencer looks at his daughter with a fake shocked look on his face. He even had a fake gasp to even make it hilarious to him.
"How rude."
"Okay, Stephanie."

Hannah speaks
I loved writing this chapter, so much mainly because it's one of my favorite episodes of Criminal Minds.
I know that this episode happened in season seven but for this book, I'm changing it up a little, if that makes sense.
Make sure to vote and comment thanks!
