Third Person's POV

One of Sydney Reid's pet peeves is people assuming that her family was normal. That's one of the things that she cannot stands, that and not being able to enjoy her life because of her mother. The one and the only Catherine Adams. The person literally from Sydney's nightmares. Is it sad that her mother is in her nightmares. It's another reason why she's always sleep deprived.

She'll literally stay up to three in the morning thinking that her mother would try to strangle her. Which she has done before. Her mother is in a criminal gang with a lengthy list of crimes that she's committed. Which good majority is murder among other crimes. Sometimes she wishes that Cat wasn't her mother. Is that a bad thing? Who could blame her through.

She turns on her bedroom light as it was dark in her room and she screamed when she saw her Dad. Standing by her doorframe. "Don't do that at all."

"Sorry, hey you good?"

"Don't ask that question."

"Take that as terrible."

"Ding, ding we have a winner. So why'd you give me a heart attack."

"Can't a father see her daughter?" He asks her teasingly as she shook her head a little as Spencer chuckled at her as she does have a sense of humor. It's rare for people to hear it as she has trust issues. Major, no thanks to her mother, but than the God's she has her father to lie back on.

If she didn't have her Dad she'd probably be in a psych ward, which she has numerous times because every where she turns she thinks that her mother is there, ready to hurt her. She is so sleep deprived that she's about to fall asleep but she tries to because she doesn't want to have nightmares. Let alone seeing her own mother in them.

"Nope." She says as she's reading a book for one of her classes. She may be smart like her Dad but there are a couple things that are different from the two. She doesn't have the eidetic memory like him, she can't read 20k words per minute, but 900 words a minute.

Spencer just takes a minute of watching her being completely focused of doing her homework, he smiles as her eyes gaze down her book to find the part that she was looking for. He smiles lovingly at her stuffed animal that's on her lap. He remembered the day that he had gotten that for her. It's one of the few things that her mother hadn't taken away from her.

"What the assignment?" He asks her smiling.

"Romeo and Juliet. Which is the dumbest thing ever. Girl falls in love with boy, while their families are sworn enemies, then bam he does and she thinks it's the brightest idea and she kills herself so she can be with Romeo." Sydney says making him snicker at what she said as he couldn't help but agree with her.

"I mean, some of that is right, but I'm not gonna give you a hard time."

"Thank God."

"Hey, that was slightly offensive."

"Save your breath." She mutters under her breath as he is just being amused by all of this actually. He sees a different side of her, a side that not a whole lot of people have seen. It's on most rare occasions, where she's like this sarcastic and witty.

Outside of her being witty and sarcastic, it's almost the opposite as she doesn't really talk a whole lot. She's anti-social, reserved, soft spoken and a quiet person in general. She also has a collection of books that she has drawn in, some of them are her visions of a perfect family. Not one of them has her real mother, Cat Adams.

When she's not reading, doing homework, actively ignoring her surroundings, she's drawing while listening to Taylor Swift. That's her definition of paradise. That and having her Dad beside her.

They are two peas in a pod, as even though she's almost seventeen, she's still a child who has attachment issues on their parents. She's afraid of losing her father as he keeps her sane, he gets stuff out of her. She can honestly say that not once has she gotten into trouble, like grounded and or any sort of punishments of that sort.

It's either her Dad being attached at her hips and or her mother assaulting her. She choses her Dad out of that option.

"That ....and I was thinking of a practical joke for Morgan." Spencer adds as Sydney's eyebrows furrow as she's trying to concentrate but her father is making it difficult. If he wasn't annoying her with his mouth, she'd be just about done with her essay on Romeo and Juliet.

"Amaze me, what does the amazing Spencer Reid have." Sydney jokingly says like her father is a magician. Which in her eyes, he is. He's a damn good one too.

"What have we not done yet?" He asks her as she couldn't help but smile as they're two geniuses when they're pranking people, especially Derek Morgan, their favorite suspect.

Sydney uses the 'because he loves me, he can't get mad at me' card, which often leaves Spencer glaring at his daughter for using the 'cute' card, and the 'innocent' card when he's so fucking sure that she isn't all innocent that she seems.

"I'm so glad you ask that question." She says as she closes her book and moves her homework to the center of her bed, as she gets up and walks towards her closer.

"You keep a list?"

"Pft, not just a list, please have you met me. Last I checked you helped conceive me." She says as she continues to dig into her closet looking for a particular as Spencer is just amused by all of this.

Sydney eventually found what she was looking for, as she had a proud smile. When she turned back to her father that smile grew bigger.

"You have a book?"

"Precisely, yes, but to be fair, I have ten pages left. Sooo...." Sydney says as Spencer laughed at her, as they're both amused at this. This is the kind of Sydney that he wants to see 24/7, but he knows that this will happen on her 'good' days, where she doesn't have any thoughts about her mother and or nightmares.

Despite it being almost midnight and neither the father and or daughter have gone to bed yet. Sydney would go to bed at four in the morning so at midnight she's still moving and loving every minute of it.

"Okay, you stand your point." He says raising his arms a little as she shakes her head a little at him, before her phone went off before Spencer laughed at the ringtone of it. It meant one dreadful thing.

Derek Morgan.

Sydney groans when she sees who it was as she's debating if she wanted to answer it. She's learned one thing from Derek Morgan. You never know what you're going to get out of him. She ignores him calling her knowing damn well that he would call her Dad and or call her twenty million times until she picks up annoyed that he's wasting her life.

"Good job." Spencer says as Sydney has a wicked smile on her face as she goes off to find something more practical, her favorite sort of pranking weapon that drives Derek annoyed to the core. The good ole' fashion air horn.

Within seconds of finding the air horn which was conveniently in front of her face on her dresser, but her one brain celled brain didn't see it. Derek Morgan decided to call her father as he was up to it.

Spencer clicked accept and Sydney waited for the weapon as she knows that Derek has no clue. "Hey, Pretty Boy, I try calling your daughter for no reason whatsoever, and she didn't answer."

"I was in the bathroom taking a shit Derek."

"Okay too much fucking information, Syd."

"Hey, in my defense you asked where I was and that's the answer."

"Hey do yo--" Before Derek could finish that sentence Sydney covered her ears as her father squeezed the airhorn in the speaker of the phone.

After the air horn prank Sydney bursted into fits of giggles. "What the fuck was that?" He asks the two as Sydney couldn't stop laughing.

"Dad did it. It was his idea." Sydney says as she points to her father as it's Syd's turn for her phone to go off. She immediately gets her phone as it's an unknown number.

She doesn't even bother looking to see who it is, because Rossi has a habit of losing his phone and or forgetting that he even has a phone. Of course he would. He's old.

"Hey. What's up?" Sydney says as she stepped outside of her room as her father was too busy talking to Morgan to even notice.

"Hey, honey. I'm right outside." A chilling voice made Sydney's blood go cold. She immediately knew who it was now.

Her mother.
