Celeste is known for being a quiet individual who typically keeps to herself, she rarely seeks the attention of others and tends to think highly of herself. She is aware of how smart, brilliant, and very capable she was, she didn't need reassurance ever. She is one with her emotions. She tends to let her emotions interfere with a few of the choices that she makes, it's not as easy to let it go as others may think. She tends to be stubborn at times when it comes to for asking help from others or for really anything. She likes to believe she could do it all. Some people have said that she seems to come off as alluring, and difficult to resist and she never seems to realize that she has that effect on others. Celeste is a child out of wedlock. Her father at some point and time had met at a fey, and had a child with her. Celeste was left at the doorstep as a young infant and her mother hasn't been seen since then. Her father raised her and made sure she felt like she was home. Mrs. Montclaire made it her life mission to make sure that Celeste was miserable, and that much told. Her stepmother would lock Celeste in rooms day at a time while her father wasn't around and would refuse to feed her. Yeah, it wasn't fun. She was also used to dealing with her older brother's constant teasing and torment.

Faeries, like vampires and werewolves, possess the unnatural abilities of swiftness, grace, and heightened senses of smell and hearing. The Faerie armies are also legendary in terms of their might in war, as evidenced by their role in the Dark War.

The magic of the fey is believed to be unique in the world. It is very old and powerful,  but neither demonically nor seraphically aligned. They can harness the powers of the ley lines, along with other strange magics. The Faeries are older than the Accords, older than the Nephilim, and are said to even be the oldest among all races of Downworlders. They possess their own magic that the Gray Book can only partly and imperfectly protect against, at best; however, there does exist Nephilim Marks that protect  Shadowhunters from faerie glamours for this very reason.
