Incoming Call
》Shinobu《
"Hey, Giyū!"
"-sigh-"
"Don't sigh! That's not a very warm welcome."
"Have I ever given you a warm welcome? No."
"Hmph, where have you been for the past three days, you didn't even call."
"Oh? You made it sound like you didn't do the same thing."
"I was on a school trip! Work, you know, work! I have a valid reason."
"I also had work and sounds like you were busy so you probably would not have picked up."
"Okay fine, I could call back but.."
"Hmm."
"Okay, okay. Oh by the way, I have to tell you about the trip, ahhh Giyuu."
"Feels like an everyday recap of my life."
"What does that mean?"
"Just some nonsense, so what about your trip?"
"Okay, so the first night we arrived-"
As per instructions, the students had taken rest in their rooms and Shinobu had rounds for the night.
It was around 10 p.m. when she sat down outside to get some fresh air, the summer heat kept her awake.
The door behind her slid open and she found Giyū's eyes.
She stared up at him and he returned the gaze, the moonlight shining above them.
"Is this really how it happened?"
"No, I just made some changes, he actually asked if he was interrupting me and I said no."
"Get the story right Shinobu."
"I get it, so he-"
He sat down beside her, handing her a can of iced tea, saying he had enough and would have given it to anyone who wanted it.
Of course, she took it oh-so-willingly, just what she needed for the heat.
They had talked about the blooming garden of the inn they were in.
"Remember my friend Mitsuri? She actually owns a flower shop."
Shinobu had said.
And how Mitsuri would have loved the place. He told her that he could imagine Shinobu owning a flower shop.
"How so?"
"Just, you and flowers make a very pleasant sight. Like right now." He smiled.
She doesn't know if it was just a compliment or something else.
"What do you mean you don't know what he means?"
"If he was just complimenting me or was there any intention in it."
"Either way, is it not a good thing?"
"I don't know, I'm more confused than you are stop asking me questions."
"I don't plan to, any more questions and you would stop functioning."
"Goodness, just listen, so nothing really on the trip itself, we were pretty busy supervising the students. What surprised me was when I woke up, I was sleeping on Giyū's shoulder on the way home."
"Hmmm."
"Like I remember-"
She remembered that she had sat beside Suma on the way home.
She was sitting near the window
and ended up falling asleep.
Suma had motion sickness so Giyū offered to switch their seats, which she thankfully accepted, without the knowledge of Shinobu.
Giyū then sat beside Shinobu, whose head was continuously bumping against the window glass. He moved her head so that it lay on his shoulder comfortably.
It was around sunset when Shinobu found herself looking at the sleeping man.
Moments later he awoke.
"Have we arrived?" Giyū rubs his shoulder.
"Not yet, and I apologise for sleeping on your shoulder."
"No worries, I moved your head so it's fine."
He waved it off and went back to sleep.
When Shinobu arrived at her home, Kanae sent a picture to her, where she was sleeping on Giyū's shoulder and Giyu leaning on her head.
"Your sister took a picture."
"Yes and she won't stop talking about it over the phone, she even showed it to our parents."
"She sounds like a matchmaker."
"She is, you should get her to match you and your crush."
"Oh that won't be necessary, I've got a good matchmaker."
"Suit yourself."
"You seem to have made quite the progress with 'your Giyū.' "
"Eh, hardly. How's it going with your crush?"
"Ah well, her sister is quite a matchmaker."
"Haha this sound so similar with my situation."
"Right..oh look at the time I have to go, talk to you later."
"Huh? So suddenly? Bye?"
beep...beep
"Is she catching up..."
"....."
