OC x Thief-Red Strings Attached
.... I'm sorry for disappearing.
This was requested by Lemmy-Kun btw (I'm sorry I took too long... Also if it's alright, I sort of winged it since I had no idea where the string was supposed to be...)! Their ocs name is Mae, and she's a match maker! Info below:
[Surname] Flaversham
[Name] Mae
[Age] Around 25 years old
[Birthday] September 29th
[Height] 5'1" (155cm)
[Gender] Female
[Career] Matchmaker / Storyteller (previously)
[Prop] Red string
[Job] Support
[Matching Duo] - With her red string, the Matchmaker can link two survivors together. The two linked survivors then possess a bunch of "buff" in common: they can heal eachother quicker, save eachother from rocket-chairs quicker and decode faster when they are decoding together. One of the two "soulmate" would also be able, only once,to take a damage instead of their partner to protect them for getting incapacitated. The link last until the end of the match or until one of the "soulmate" die.
Hope you enjoy♥️
Mae's POV
I sat around the porch of the mansion, sewing a torn out brown hat I had found lying around the dark hallways. It was in terrible condition, yet it looked like it had been used a lot. Maybe it belongs to someone that cherishes it.
There was a red patch inside, as well as some awfully sewed seams, as if someone with no skills in sewing had attempted to fix the tattered hat.
Either way, I had nothing to do but to fix it. My match was in a few minutes anyways. Hopefully enough time for me to find the owner of this shabby cap. Although it does look quite familiar, I can't seem to put my finger to it.... Considering I'm new and all.
I walked around the halls, looking for anyone I might find wearing this hat. I don't know much people here, just a few. Although, I have already grown quite the dislike towards that damn lawyer. Which reminds me, him and I will have to be in a match later. Ugh.
I felt a sudden presence behind me, yet it was vague. As if someone rather stealthy was able to mask their presence greatly. It caught me off-guard when my shoulder was grabbed by a large, calloused hand.
Caught by surprise, I quickly turned back and threw a punch to the unknown persons stomach, causing them to curl into pain as they let out a groan.
As I gain my composure, I finally realized the familiar brown hair and fuzzy scruff of Kreacher. He raised his head up, showing me his heterochromatic eyes. "Hi..." He greeted with a pure, yet pained smile.
My eyes widen as I quickly tried helping him up. "My apologies...! You startled me..." I said as a faint blush escape to my face. Kreacher seemed to not take any grudge to it as he stood straight with a soft chuckle.
"It's alright! Wus' sorta my fault too!" He laughed, rubbing his stomach where my punch landed. He smiled at me, before his eyes went down to the hat I was holding.
His eyes lit up, pointing at the cap. "Hey! You found my hat!" He beamed happily. I looked at the hat I fixed, reaching it out for him to take. "I found it in the halls," I replied as he grabbed it from my hands.
"Thanks! I thought I lost my favourite hat!" Kreacher said happily as he then started inspecting it. "Hey.... Did you fi-"
The bell that signalled a match was gonna start went off, cutting out Kreacher's sentence. I sighed and looked up at him, considering I was smaller than the thief. "I have to go for my match now," I said. "Oh, alright... Good luck Mae!" He said as he waved me off.
====
As I waited for the match to start, I tried ignoring the fact that I was sat beside Freddy. I groaned softly, looking at Vera's empty seat. She was the only one not here yet.
Suddenly, the host came inside with someone tailing behind her. "Vera's sick today, so Kreacher will be substituting for her place this match," she announced in a stoic voice. The said brunette suddenly popped out behind her small form, giving me a goofy smile that made my heart flutter.
His seat was at the end of the long rectangular table, making him a few spaces away from me, as I was sat at the farthest seat. Although that didn't stop him from giving me a wide wave.
I gave a wave back as we all wait for the match to start. Though I must admit, just by seeing and having to play a match with him, it sparked a small hint of joy in me.
====
Minutes into the match, and I was running away from Jack. His eyes glowed a fearsome red that sent chills down my spine. Detention has always been the worst, except for that buck tooth lawyer.
I had already used my string to connect me and Kreacher, since he was limping and I had no choice but to save him, which lead me to also be injured since he got hit twice.
I had already lost sight of him, but I can still feel his presence. So far, only one of us have been sent home. Me, Kreacher, and Freddy were still alive as far as I know. And it was a tight match, yet we somehow finished all the ciphers quickly.
My heart started to rapidly thump in my chest. It made me freeze a little, and the one thing that woke me up from my trance, was a slash of wind blade barely missing my head. I was found. And once again, Jack's raging red eyes had been shown infront of me. I quickly bolted out of the area, going to the nearest exit I know, which was a mile away. I assumed Freddy has already left, considering no one wants to face against a hunter with detention.
Jack's speed had picked up as I see him easily catching up to me from my peripherals. It scared me so badly. I didn't even know if Kreacher was alright!
Then, I felt a push behind my back. You'd think someone had saved me, that someone had come at the right time to be my knight.
No.
I got hit by Jack's claws. He was in detention, too. It should have been over for me.
But wrong. I was still running for my life. There can only be one reason why; Kreacher had taken the hit for me! But where was he?! It would have sent him to his death bed if he had pulled a stunt like that!
"Leave me!" A yell erupted from behind the rocks, and without thinking, I bolted to the exit. Yet the pain knowing I had left Kreacher somewhere incapacitated had never left my conscience. I hope he was alright.

The match had ended, and I quickly went and found Kreacher on the nurse's office. The bleeding slash on his back that was supposed to be mine was imprinted on his tan skin, the guilt eating me up from the inside.
Upon the sight of me, the thief quickly gave me his goofy, yet lovable smile. Although instead, it sent me to tears. I hate showing this side of me. But... I can't stop it. Why would he do that?
"M-Mae? Why are you crying?!" He frantically asked as he stared at me worriedly. I walked over to him, and before he could even say another word, I wrapped my arms around his neck, hiding my flustered face on his broad and bare shoulder. "I'm glad you're fine... But why? Why would you that...?!" I sobbed as worry and remorse crawled up my spine.
Instead of a word from him, I felt his large hands rub my back soothingly. "You needed my help. And I felt bad if I didn't save ya'. You fixed my hat after all!" He beamed, grabbing his cap and showing it towards me. "I was close to the dungeon, anyways. So I was pretty sure I made the right decision and became much more efficient."
Kreacher reached up and patted my head, causing my face to turn red and my ears to burn up. "Victor's mutt was chewing on it. And no one bothered to help me find nor sew it. So I was grateful that you did. Think of it as a thank you."
I stared at the hat, blushing from his words and his affection. Then, I let out a giggle. For a split second, I caught Kreacher's face turn pink, making my stomach yet again fill up with this weird butterflies. It felt nice.
"Oh, and by the way..." The brunette thief said, before raising his pinky finger. My red string was still attached to it. The sudden realization caused me to turn completely red as I look down at my own hand. "I-I'm sorry! I'll remove it ri-"
"It's fine," Kreacher said, before locking his pinky finger with mine. "I like it. Maybe we can stay attached for a little longer." He said with a sweet smile. I stared at him in awe, unable to speak.
After a few moments of silence, I smiled back and wrapped my pinky with his as well. "Alright..."

I'm sorry for disappearing for months. You have every right to be mad or upset if you are. But I promise, if I do disappear permanently, I will tell you.
Don't worry tho, I still have a lot of fight in me.
I'm glad to be back. :)
