Wooo More Bonfire Stuff

The two boys arrived to a very strange debate by Fitz and Sophie over desserts and which one was better.  Fitz was advocating for ripplefluffs and Sophie was scarily advocating for mallowmelt.

They sat back down without making a noise and wrapped themselves back up in the blanket.  Keefe almost thought they weren't missed before Tam turned his attention towards them with a raised eyebrow.

Keefe winked at him before quickly turning his attention back to Sophie and Biana as to avoid an "where were you guys and what does that wink mean - what did you two just do" conversation with the Shade.  Foster seemed to be doing much better, thankfully.  Fitz and Biana had probably started up her mallowmelt rant to distract her.

"Cinnacream is way better."  Dex muttered.  "Even if it tastes like something called a snickerdoodle."

"A what?"  Keefe asked.  "A snicker-doodle?  Is that a human name?"

Dex nodded.  "I don't know why anyone would want to eat something called that."

"I mean, you guys make things with weird names all the time..."

"Yeah, but I don't think the weirdness was intentional."  Dex said.

Neither spoke for a moment before an idea came to Keefe's mind.  It was a weird idea, but it would not only allow him physical contact to Dex (which he told himself they both needed purely in case Dex freaked out again), but it'd also give a more solid argument to the boyfriend thing.

"Weird question," Keefe whispered, "but what if we moved so that were were off of this log and you were sitting between my legs?"

Dex looked at him with his eyebrows crunched in confusion.  "Why?"

"Well, for starters it's a comfy position.  Secondly, we wouldn't have to actually share this blanket, and thirdly, it's good proof for the thing."

Dex looked away, shaking his head as though he were thinking that Keefe was utterly ridiculous before a grumpy, "Fine," escaped his lips.

Keefe grinned and slid off the log.  Dex moved to sit down, but Keefe turned him before he did so.

"I can look at the fire, you know."  Dex grumbled, nonetheless sitting down the way Keefe had wanted him to.

"Yeah," Keefe said, "but now you look like the baby that you are."

Dex sat so that his legs bent over Keefe's and his back leaned against the Empath's knee.  Carefully, he pulled the blanket back up so that it covered his side and he pressed his other side against Keefe's chest.  It was like he was being carried bridal style, but he was just sitting down.

"Aww." Keefe cooed.

Dex reached up, over Keefe's head to grab the paper and pen.  "You're insane."

"You too, boo."  Keefe said the words loud enough for other's to hear if they were listening in and wrapped his arms around Dex, kissing his temple.

Dex turned pink and began trying to distract himself by furiously scribbling on the paper.

"What'cha drawing?"  Keefe asked, trying to get a better look.

"Just outlines and blueprints for stuff."

"Cool!"  Keefe grinned.  This kid needed to love his ability more.  Seriously, Technopaths could take over the world with their kind of power if they wanted to.

Dex shrugged.  Keefe was pretty sure his face was the color of a tomato based off of his emotions and crazy heartbeat, but he didn't say anything of it.

"You two are adorable!"  Biana yelled, startling them both.

Sophie grinned at them with an apologetic smile.  Keefe guessed that she was the one who pointed them out.

Fitz chuckled.  "She's not wrong."

Surprising probably everyone, Dex stuck out his tongue before going back to making his blueprints as Keefe threw his head back in a laugh.  It wasn't everyday you saw an embarrassed yet sassy Dex.  It was normally either one of the other.

"Do they have to point out every little thing we do?"  Dex mumbled.

"They're just envious."  Keefe whispered back.  "I mean, look at them," he said, gesturing to Tam and Fitz.  Dex followed his gaze.  "One of them is after a girl who he's probably not going to get and the other one has yet to feel any emotion than utter darkness."

Dex snorted at the joke.  "A tragic life they live."

"Poor babies."

"Poor souls."

"What kind of gadget are you working on?"

Dex shrugged, clearly trying very hard to focus as Keefe leaned in a bit more to attempt to get a look again.  He turned the direction of the page a bit so Keefe could watch him as he sketched.  "I'm not sure.  I'm thinking about adding something to my desk at home, but other than that these are just random plans in my head."

Keefe nodded along, watching the pencil make messy marks.

"I don't really want a migraine again, so I'm drawing them out so they aren't just all in my head."

"Technopath brains are so cool," Keefe leaned back and grabbed Dex's head, entangling his hand within the curly strawberry blond hair.  He shook the other's head a bit, saying, "Give me your poweeers."

Dex giggled and pulled away.  "You wish.  And besides, you already have a photographic memory."

"That doesn't mean it just randomly gives me awesome ideas."

Dex looked up at him with slanted eyes and a small smile.  "It does sometimes."
