Mission: Don't Get Crushed by the Kelber Elves
I've been writing all day and it just occurred to me that it could be MINOR ocd or MINOR mania but oh well!
The two got into the dance in... oh.... five to ten minutes. It should not take that long to scan someone's registry pendant.
The line wasn't even that long!
Whatever. They were inside now and wow was the music loud. There was a group of students in the middle, all of them dancing and jumping to the music and Keefe decided that that area was the 'death zone.'
Gently, Keefe pulled Dex to a table against the wall parallel to where the dj was. The boys leaned against it, waiting for Sophie and Biana. Fitz could go screw himself.
Dex hoisted himself up so that he could sit on the table. "Why did Biana choose a jumpsuit?!"
They had to yell to get their words across. The music was way too loud.
Keefe shrugged, looking the boy up and down. "It looks good on you! You should wear it more often!"
Dex gave a questioning look, but still said, "Thank you! I might!"
"That took way too long!" They heard a voice say. Keefe turned his head to find Biana and Sophie walking towards them.
"Where's Fitzy?!"
Biana rolled her eyes and threw her thumb back behind her to where a hallway was. "He duct off that way! That's all I know and all I want to know!"
Keefe snorted. "You two gonna go dance?!"
"Later!" Sophie said. She and Biana took a stand next to him. "And Dex, I didn't get to tell you, but you look really cute!"
Dex looked away, towards the crowd. "Thank you!"
"So," Keefe said, looking back at the boy, "what do you want to do?!"
"We could go see if there's people having sex in the middle!" Dex yelled through the noise with a shrug.
He'd probably meant it as a joke, but Keefe couldn't think of any other way to traumatize the boy. "Okay!"
"Wait - what?!"
Keefe laced his fingers with Dex's and pulled him away from the girls and into the massive crows of prodigies - all either jumping, screaming, or being way to close to one another.
"Who knows!" Keefe called, "Maybe we'll find Fitz in here!"
"KEEFE!"
"I kid! I kid! Take a chill pill, Dizznee!"
Dex's emotions became more flustered the farther they got into the crowd of people.
"FITZY!" Keefe screamed. "YOU IN HERE?!"
"Keefe, shut up!"
"VACKER BOI!"
"Keefe - AH!" Dex let out a high pitched yelp as somebody knocked him into Keefe's back. His hand grabbed Keefe's waist for support.
Keefe reached back and grabbed said hand, wrapping it around his middle and doing the same with the other. "Live a little, Dexy!"
"Are you high off of emotions?!"
Keefe let out a laugh. "Nope! Hold on tight though, because we aren't done looking!"
"Why are we even looking for Fitz?!" Dex hollered as Keefe lead him the rest of the way through the mass of people.
"I dunno! I haven't seen him since this shin-dig started!" Keefe called as he screeched to a halt to let a line of prodigies doing the conga pass.
.-.
"Are they gonna be okay in there?" Biana asked, taking a sip of her water.
Sophie shrugged, leaning back on the table behind her. "Keefe probably will be."
.-.
Once the conga line had passed - and Keefe had given up on trying to convince Dex to agree to joining it - they continued their 'search' for the boy with teal eyes.
In reality, Keefe couldn't have cared less where he was. But he was bored and Dex wasn't too freaked out yet, so what was the issue? Other than the awful smell and constant fear of being crushed?
Okay, maybe the cons outweighed the pros.
"Here!" Keefe dragged Dex through one more group of people until they were near the front of the crowd, right where the speakers were. The noise could be felt in Keefe's abdomen and he sure it was the same for the other, but he grabbed his hands anyways.
"What are you doing now?!" Dex had to yell into Keefe's ear.
"Dancing! Come on!" Keefe hollered. He jumped up and down, moving his arms back and fourth alternatively, forcing Dex's to do the same.
Dex didn't jump or go completely insane, but he did help move their arms forward and backwards with a smile.
"Woo!"
.-.
"Hey!"
Sophie turned her head to find Fitz running towards her, the tail of his blue coat kicking up behind him.
"Why are you here?" Biana asked, jumping off the table. "Shouldn't you be wow-ing the girls?"
Fitz rolled his eyes. "Very funny."
Biana stuck out her tongue before Fitz reached up and grabbed it.
Sophie watched in mild terror as the two Vacker siblings nearly started a brawl with Biana trying to bite Fitz's fingers and Fitz not letting go of her tongue. "Guys?"
They turned towards Sophie, but they didn't change their position.
"Shouldn't we be watching Keefe and Dex? You know, to make sure they're okay? And alive?..." An image of Kelber Elves crushing the two of them in the middle of a dance circle came to her mind and she shook it away.
Carefully, Fitz let go of Biana. "Maybe, but do we have to?"
"They're in the mosh pit!" Sophie yelled, gesturing to the group of people her friends could be trapped in.
Fitz raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
Sophie groaned into her hands. Why? Why? WHY did the boys tell her and Biana not to tell anyone else - even Fitz? What good was that supposed to do?
"I think they actually went in to try and find you." Biana said before Sophie could think up another excuse.
"Uh, are you sure that's why they're in there? Not that I'm not flattered or anything."
"Stop being a narcissistic asshole and go find them to tell them that you're still alive. It's Keefe and Dex. They aren't being weird in there. And Keefe has been screaming your name for, like, five minutes."
Fitz held up his hands in defense as he walked backwards towards the chaotic mass. "Fine, but if I see anything weird, that's on you!"
"You see weird stuff everyday?" Sophie tried.
Fitz just chuckled as he turned around.
.-.
"Oh, hey, Fitz!" Keefe called, dropping Dex's hands. "We were just looking for you!"
"So I heard!"
"You okay?" Dex asked, peering over Keefe's shoulder to get a look at the other. "You seem... off."
Fitz nodded and ran a hand down his face. "Just don't go in the very middle."
"Why would we..." Keefe began. "Ohhh, you went in the middle, didn't you, Vacker boy? Eh, eh?"
"Shut up." Fitz said, kicking his shin. "Dex, so sorry for the property damage, but I may need to kill your boyfriend."
Keefe was fully prepared to defend himself, but a pair of arms wrapped around him and swung him around before he could do so. "Awwwe, Dizznee!"
"Fine!" Fitz yelled. "I'll be in the blue hall!"
"Okay!" Keefe yelled.
He didn't hear Fitz walked away, but he assumed he had until his voice spoke up again. "Why were you guys looking for me, by the way?!"
"Making sure you weren't being weird!" Dex yelled.
Keefe didn't hear either of them speak after that so he turned back around, still in Dex's arms. "Do you wanna find a booth?!"
"Sure!"
