8 : Take My Hand Blindly

Also I wanted to say that the game might be smudged a little more tightly packed just to get the story going. Some things might not make sense or is not in the right place like the game. Please just bare with me but I'll try to get the layout as much as I can.

(Y/n) grabbed onto the brunette's shoulder with a squeeze. She mustered the most reassuring smile she could.

"We're together now, you don't have to be scared anymore." She decided to play the hero because Gregory seemed to be good at it. She could see her reflection in honey irises. She saw a girl who had a small face but fragile bravery burning in her eyes.

They immediately parted ways as the security bot came back with a flash of its light. It created a rough sound when the tires scraped against the floor.

The bot passed just as quickly as it came. Stiffly turning around and droning on somewhere else. Gregory looked into the shadows and spotted something to the side.

It was a gift box presented on a counter, a tempting gift, what could be a terrible trap. The whole animatronic gang was over it, staring into what would be the eyes of the beholder. They were made out of cheap cardboard and had fictionally large eyes and bright smiles. But they were ominous looking in the neon darkness.

They looked nothing like the large, intimidating creatures that inhabit the stage.

The two kids curiously approached it. Then the girl reached out to touch it but Gregory grabbed her wrist and yanked it back. The girl blinked at him with surprise but he wasn't looking at her, he was gazing at the security bot gliding through the shelves.

"Ah, I see you've found your gift!" Freddy's voice ringed through their watches. "Go on an open it; It might be of help to you!"

Gregory seized the little crank to the side of it. He began to wind it and a soft, cheery tune played. (Y/n) was enraptured by it. The music box sounded like it was gliding through her ears.

The present box opened up with a loud trumpet-like sound, splashing vibrant confetti into the air. It made both the children flinch at the boisterous noise and look for the bot, who was nowhere to be seen and showing no signs of disturbance.

It opened up rapidly, rainbow confetti and decorative ribbons littered the otherwise empty table. Through all that mess there was a single magnet that appeared, it was a weird shape with a purple face and large smile. Seemed like some sort of character (y/n) had never seen before.

It was like a ... hippo with blue eyes?

"Really? A Mister Hippo fridge magnet? Lame..." Gregory said sardonically out of the blue. The com on his watch fizzed as Freddy spoke with deep baritone, he sounded regretful.

"I am sorry Gregory. Truly sorry." His voices tone like he was going to do something bad... but, it was just a magnet, right?

Gregory scoffed slightly and continued on his way. The two walked down a set of stairs behind a large, lit-up screen to the side of the dark gift shop, whilst dodging the silent security bot, of course.

Their shoes tapped against the ceramic stairs and into an area full of more vibrant merchandise items, knick knacks, and savory snacks. Another security bot was surveying the area, it's light casting eerie shapes onto the floor.

Over to the far right there was a yellow machine that looked almost like an arcade machine. Upgrade Your Full Access Pass! the glowing screen said on it in large font.

A bear-like creature that was pink and white with comically large eyes seemed to be smiling and waving on the plaster attached onto the machine. There was a chat bubble next to it but the girl couldn't decipher it for it was too small.

Gregory swiped out a card from his pocket. It was vibrantly colored and winked in the light. He inserted it in the machine. After a moment or two the machine garbled and then did nothing else.

"It ate my ticket!" Gregory hissed out, kicking the machine with his foot with a clanking sound. (Y/n) stared at the bot further back, still no sudden movement. Was it deaf? (Y/n) thought out of the blue.

"Perhaps you should try your new magnet," Freddy's voice whispered on the com of their watches. Gregory shrugged and stuck the silly magnet onto the machine with a clang.

Almost immediately, the machine protested with a metallic shriek and chocked out the card Gregory had. Gregory smiled albeit a little smugly.

(Y/n) went to give him a high five but the sound of heavy stomping filled the room. The protesting metal against metal, the dragging and scratching sound of large feet against the floor reverberated through dull neon lighting.

"Who wants candy?" A sweet, lilting voice questioned in song. The girl was the first to act fast, she dove for one of the shelves, hiding behind it.

Gregory followed almost immediately after, jumping to the displays across from her side. Chica stopped walking just a few feet away from them. The animatronic would search the area lazily, stopping a few times to drag her optics across the shelves.

Her machinery hissed and clicked like a separate being. (Y/n) was trying to hold it together, her throat tight and metallic tasting with anxiety.

Gregory met her eyes. His golden hues stared straight into hers. The girl tried to distract herself by staring into his irises that was color of molten stars. They looked like streetlights in the dead of night. Almost glowing.

Brushing against their ears was the sound of Chica turning away. If you listen very closely, you could hear the sound of the chicken animatronic's voice box creating an inconsistent, grating, glitching sound that scratched against your eardrums.

Gregory glanced warily to the side, watching as Chica trudged away without another word. Then his eyes flicked back to hers. Slowly, he put a finger to his mouth, telling the girl to keep quiet.

Before she could react, the boy shuffled into a crouch and reached riskily towards her, beckoning her to latch onto his cold fingers. The neon light brushes against his arm as he reached farther, occasionally pausing to listen closely for a certain animatronic chicken.

The girl reached for him, too. Her teeth gritted together with anxiety as she scooted closer and closer. Her eyelashes visibly twinkled in the imposing light, she was so far off from the display she was hiding from.

Abruptly, the sound of rapid stomping filled their ears and shook the ground beneath their shoes. The hiss of wiring and machinery indicated that they have been spotted in action.

"Gregory!" A sound that was dragged out roughly from a voice box. It held no humanity; it was almost like an accusing whisper that held no real emotional depth to it. It was terrifying. Not sweet or bitter, it had nothing behind it.

It just reminded the girl that it was no human that they were afraid of. Nor was it a monster underneath your bed, it was not a shadow in the closet that you hide from. It was a machine, made by mankind. It was a machine that spoke to them. It was a machine that knew Gregory's name.

Chica was approaching fast. She was previously on the other side of the shop one moment and now more then halfway across another.

Gregory did not even wait, he leaned in quickly and roughly grabbed the girl by the wrist. His fingers dug into her soft skin making it sting. The girl yelped as her feet stumbled and slid across the floor as Gregory shot away like a bullet.

Half the time he was dragging her because she couldn't keep up with him. It slowed him down but he did not stop, not when Chica is pursuing the children with vigor and hunger between each of her steps.

The animatronic knocked displays off counters because she would lazily stumble into them, making crashing sounds behind them, like the animatronic was drunk.

Merchandise tumbled to the floor, plushies were smashed underneath large metallic feet, fragile items cracked and fissured.

(Y/n) started to imagine all the worst scenarios in her head, what if they got caught? Chica would definitely do more then scold them. The animatronic seems like she would hurt them, or worse!

The young girl started to cry again, her tears shined in the pink, neon light and it burned her eyes. She couldn't help it, she was a child and this situation was was just like before in those halls.

Memories come back, and a child of all things can play them like a record.

Gregory was barely containing his panic. He took sharp turns behind display after display. He tried to zig zag through the shop to throw the robot off, but it wasn't working.

He couldn't see where those stairs were! He wanted to go to the upstairs of the shop and find somewhere, anywhere, to hide. Even better, to leave. There was nothing down where they were.

(Y/n) started to sob, the sound only increasing his anxieties. Chica was gaining on them. He almost halted running when he saw the stairs that lead upwards. The adrenaline he felt was making him go haywire.

The boy practically pulled the girl up the stairs. When they were halfway up the sound of Chica struggling up the first few steps could be heard. Her voice box gnarled and chanted Gregory's name and other incoherent words.

Gregory glided through the first floor, completely forgetting about the security bot that was closing in on them from the side. When the flashlight shined on them, the sound of alarms blared out from the robot.

Gregory momentarily paused and stared wide-eyed into the blank, plastic gaze of the machine. (Y/n) held a similar expression, her crying paused into silence. Surprise and terror was evident on her face.

The sounds of scraping, metallic feet became louder as Chica ran faster since the alert went off. Gregory dashed past the bot from the side, going as far as to shoulder it roughly to the opposite direction.

The bot emotionlessly recoiled back from the shove. Chica dragged herself passed it and continued the dizzy chase after them.

Hope was a few feet away as an abandoned baby stroller came into few. It was in a dark corner of the shop. There was no other option, Chica would find them if they hide behind the displays. Gregory shoved (y/n) in and after he jumped up into it with her, pulling the cover rapidly down. Chica came from around the displays, only to see a stroller and a few shelves.

The girl stopped crying and was paralyzed with terror as the animatronic approached. Gregory held onto her shoulder from her side and stared wide-eyes at the large, metal feet that came into view from beneath the strollers cover. The girl felt his cold hand dig into her shoulder and spine as the boy gripped onto her tightly.

Chica stood in place for a moment, occasionally the sound of a warbling glitch coming from her voice box. The two children held their breaths shakily as they waited for what seemed like minutes, but mere seconds.

They watched as the feet shuffled away suddenly. The animatronic was retreating back into the shadows where it came. Relief flooded into the two children like a river. Gregory's fingers slid from (y/n) shoulder to arm. They almost let go of their held breaths, the girl felt her eyes sting with more tears of shock. Her heart was pounding, her skin was prickly after recovering from momentary paralyzation, her chest tight with utter horror.

She wants to wake up home, already.
