35k! : I Just Don't Get It
Part 2
There are some things a child sees that their older counterpart would not be able to explain.
(Y/n) had a very creative mind, one moment she had an imaginary friend who is a big, pink bunny that laughs cotton candy and poops lollipops.
The next moment she is describing two boys who she claimed she saw, but the description was vaguely similar to the two boys out of five children who disappeared nearly ten years ago. Most likely murdered in the pizzeria itself.
The parents, at first, had no suspicions. But that whole week, the girl did not stop yapping about them, or how the entire building and animatronics changed when she was with them.
They were starting to get curious over 'Caz' and 'Oliver' but found some dark information when they asked about it. It was a rather small town, and any person could know anyone. But judging by the looks people gave them, those two boys weren't just anyone.
The parents were hesitant, their daughter doesn't have that big of an imagination. How could she perfectly describe these boys? They are pretty sure that no one ever mentions the cases out loud anymore, so how could she have heard about it? Despite the pizzerias reopening, people mostly kept to themselves. Those cases have long since been cold.
The girl begged them to bring her back to the pizzeria to see her new friends. The parents glanced at each other, the place was nearby and the food was cheap. But something felt out of place in this whole situation. Something felt wrong.
Though, in the end, they agreed. When they entered the restaurant, the girl was already skipping down the tiled floor before the parents stopped her one last time. "Just don't talk to any strange people, ok?"
The girl nodded enthusiastically. The parents eyed each other before turning away and striding towards the line. Really, what could go wrong in a place like this? They thought.
They were a little bit misinformed on just how terrible this place could be.
Other than the long lines, infuriating children, and creepy animatronics, this place was so much more than just a little pizzeria.
It was a cemetery.
The girl pushed through the crowd of children. Today was a Sunday. Sundays usually meant that there was going to be an even larger crowd of people in the restaurant. Typical of weekends.
The animatronics were already singing, their voices barely traveling through the sound of multiple children yelling. But she wasn't focused on them, no, she was skimming the crowd for a head of familiar blond hair or striking blue eyes.
Multiple kids stood out to have similar features but none of them fit the exact descriptions. Some of them had eyes not quite sharp enough as Caz's, others didn't have a smirk not exactly as smug as Oliver's.
Everytime her eyes caught a similar feature, she would visibly light up and make her way to them, but she stopped mid-step with a deflated expression when she realized it was someone else.
Something about Caz and Oliver felt special, like a puzzle you are trying to solve. Or a mystery you are close to cracking. Being around them felt weird, but fun.
She was in the dining area, looking to see if maybe they were eating. Perhaps they were bantering on who gets the last piece of pizza, she giggled. She could imagine them bickering amongst themselves, and then delighted to see her come by.
The girl passed by a kid with pizza sauce all over his face, his voice sounded like Oliver's but the boy didn't look like him. She pursed her lips thinking, maybe Caz is in the large hallway?
At that moment, she was about to go search for them there. But a cold hand grasped her wrist. It felt like the hand was touching a freezer before. She jumped slightly, yelping.
"Hey! We've been looking all over for you!" She recognized that voice! The girl turned around and faced Oliver. He had a cheeky smile on his face. "What are you so curious about to run off like that, anyways?"
He laughed slightly, before turning and dragging the girl away from the dining room. Not waiting for her response. It was crazy how different Oliver and Caz are. Caz probably would've scolded her but Oliver herded her through the crowd, speaking about what was on his mind.
"It's been a while, eh?" The girl nodded, though it's only been last week since they saw each other. She thought about the fight they had last time, hopefully they made it up with each other. The two boys really seemed like good friends.
"Caz has been worried sick about you lately, wanting to see you again and all that." (Y/n) smiled, though she just met Caz last week, he seemed to care for her a lot.
She glanced down at the pale hand grasping hers. It felt cool and tingly, like Oliver dipped them in snow. She wondered if he felt chilly in this building. Though, it doesn't get cold that much here, maybe in the winter, but winter is not here yet.
"Where are we going?" The girl asked him before glancing around. Her surroundings had changed again.
Everything looked better and brighter. The kids around her were not ones she recognized, and the animatronics voices were louder. The chairs and tables looked clean and shiny. She noted that the air felt... weird.
"We're going to see our friends, of course! Didn't I tell you?"
She shook her head. The boy let go of her hand, they were a few feet away from the stage. Surprisingly there was less of a crowd around it, so they could move freely. Oliver frowned slightly, before ruffling her hair with a sigh.
Again, his hands were awfully cold that she flinched from the contact on her scalp. If the boy saw this, he didn't seem to acknowledge it.
"Always curious about the world..." Oliver said a little quieter, a fond smile pulled at his lips. The girl didn't know what he meant. "You're always distracted when we say something, and sometimes, you forget what we say."
The girl pouted, fixing her frazzled hair as he laughed. Oliver glanced around the room, as if looking for someone.
Maybe Caz? Suddenly, (Y/n) found her eyes trailing to the hallway, she felt like something was stalking her, goosebumps trailed up her arms..
It was the type of feeling you get after you watch something scary. And you're alone in the dark for what feels like the first time.
Through the large crowd of children playing in pirates cove, the parents eating pizza while scolding their misbehaving infants, and the tired employees sweeping the floors and tables, the girl caught sight of a looming figure.
It stood out like a sore thumb but no one paid any mind to it. It was an animatronic, one she swore she had never seen before. It had golden fur that looked slightly worn-out and dusty in some places. A dark and faded purple bow tie was tied around its neck.
It had two ears that perked in the air, a large stature, humongous paws, and a gaping smile that pulled at its lips. It stood menacingly in the hallway entrance, flanked by shadows. Its golden fur gleamed slightly in the dim light.
Children, adults, and employees passed by it. None even batted an eye at the strange animatronic, and it didn't look at them. It seemed to be staring straight at her and Oliver. The girl shuddered, her eyes narrowed warily.
Through its dark eye-sockets, there were a pair of glinting eyes. It was a large golden rabbit animatronic, it faintly resembled Bonnie but had some differences here and there. It looked old and kind of creepy, strikingly contrasting with the shiny and brand-new looking pizzeria.
This animatronic was not on stage, it didn't sing or dance, it didn't shoot confetti or give cake to kids with a friendly smile. It didn't do anything of the sorts. It was just...standing there.
Something doesn't feel right.
She turned around, about to state to Oliver about what she saw. Maybe he knows of such animatronic? Abruptly, something jumped on her and she was pulled into a tight embrace.
The girl yelped as she was roughly nuzzled by a crown of short, golden hair. Pale blue eyes, the color of cornflowers and early dusk, shined brightly at her with mischievousness. There was a petite and pale girl who was latched onto her.
(Y/n) looked at her confused as the blonde giggled at her expression with a big smile. The girl looked a little younger than her, with rosy cheeks and pearly teeth. She was like the sun, (y/n) thought in awe, blinking.
But she was pretty sure she had never seen this girl before. The blonde girl seemed to recognize her somehow. (Y/n) started to skim through her memory if she had ever seen this girl before, but nothing came to mind.
She had these pale blue eyes, they were like crystals and so different from Caz's sharp and deep ocean blue irises.
But there was still that strange, chillingly cold feeling the girl emits similar to Caz and Oliver. Maybe the building is really cold. (Y/n) was not sure.
"Susie! What have I told you about jumping on (y/n?)"
The girl, Susie, (y/n) had noted, was pulled off of her. A pout pulled at the blonde's expression when Oliver snatched her off. The boy shook his head with an annoyed expression.
"Oli, it's been a while since I saw my (y/n!)" Susie whined, smacking Oliver lightly in the shoulder. The mischievous blonde glared at her. (Y/n) stared, dumbfounded by the situation.
"Your (y/n?) Susie, she's a friend to us all!"
"I know that!"
"Yeah? Are you sure about that?"
"Yeah!"
It clicked to (y/n) that Susie must be one of the friends Oliver was talking about. They were bickering like siblings, Susie was raving that (y/n) likes her the most, and Oliver was arguing that (y/n) liked them all.
"Guys! You are so loud!" (Y/n) jumped, a look of surprise etched on her face. To her side, Caz was standing there, with his arms crossed and a scowl on his face. He seemed to have appeared out of thin air.
Oliver turned towards him and gave him a smug look. Though, his eyes were fond and warm at the sight of his good friend. "So what? Are we gonna attract the yellow bunny?"
Caz's face lit up in embarrassment, "yeah, you are!" He retorted, huffing. (Y/n) perked up at the sound of them saying yellow bunny. Her thoughts went to that strange animatronic she's seen before.
She turned around to where she saw it, but to her surprise, it was no longer there. Her eyes scanned the area but she caught no sight of the strange bunny. The bad feeling was back, weighing in the pit of her stomach.
"(Y/n!) You're back," the girl turned towards Caz, who had a content smile on his face. She wanted to say something to him about the rabbit, but she gets unintentionally interrupted every time. "It's been a while."
(Y/n) nodded back slowly, a grin pulled at her face too. Remembering the last time she saw him. The bad feeling washed away. Caz pulled her into a small cool hug, he still smelled like chocolate. Oliver lifted his eyebrow at them, jealous of Caz.
Susie had a blush coloring her pale face at the sight of the blue-eyed boy. Her hands were behind her back, kneading at her frilly blue and white dress. She was looking at Caz with admiration, giggling childishly.
Oliver rolled his eyes at her. "Ew, you know you're like 10 years younger than him?"
Susie huffed at him, her cheeks puffing up like chipmunks. The blush left her face. She looked like an angry squirrel who had its walnuts stolen.
"3 years younger!" She retorted. Caz looked at the two of them awkwardly, a deadpan evident on his face. But the air around these three was lighthearted.
They then returned to chatting with each other about their weekends. They asked (y/n) about hers but she gave a small response back.
(Y/n) felt kind of out of place, it seems like these kids had known each other for years. She only met Caz and Oliver for one day, by accident too.
Oliver pulled her into a quick hug, that felt like winter frost clawing up her back but was warm-hearted like summer. She patted his back as he nuzzled into her.
She thought back to the frosty windowsill at winter in her living room, and how it was cold to the touch. She thought of the strange rabbit animatronic and its glittering eyes like snow behind empty sockets.
When she was caught up in her thoughts, about to admit what she saw, a fourth member came along, sneaking behind her. Suddenly, cold hands gripped her shoulders abruptly and a loud "BOO" echoed across the room.
(Y/n) yelped, jumping up in the air. Hearty laughter met her ears belonging to a voice she didn't recognize. Oliver and Susie giggled at the prank and Caz smiled at the newcomer behind her.
The girl turned around, a look of surprise in her eyes. In front of her was a boy. He had wild ginger hair and a face full of freckles. He was laughing his head off at her reaction. He looked around Oliver's and Caz's age, sporting a blue T-shirt and shorts.
The girl stared at him, was this another one of their friends? She imagined so judging by the warm greeting he was getting from the groups.
Around her, no one seemed to notice the commotion of the laughing kids. Which was odd, parents continued to chat, kids continued to play, employees passed by. (Y/n) caught no sight of her parents, and no sight of parents that were watching these children.
The animatronics stopped singing and were making automated small talk. Foxy told stories she has never heard of yet with enthusiasm. He was repaired once more and not out of order. The girl still thought it was strange.
The golden rabbit left her mind.
"Fritz! Hey!" Oliver cheered. "Glad you could come!" Susie leapt over to hug the ginger. Fritz smiled a toothy grin, nodding in agreement while patting Susie's back affectionately.
Fritz's eyes met (y/n)'s and he grinned at the girl mischievously. The girl shyly smiled back. Fritz seemed nice, but a little wild. He said joyously, "(Y/n)! I haven't seen you in a while!"
Susie let go of the boy and clasped onto (y/n) again. Tightly clinging onto her waist with a smile on her pink lips. (Y/n) put her arms around Susie, pushing a hand through the young girl's golden hair.
She was happy to be with them, though she had a lot of questions on who they were. Old friends she forgot about perhaps? She's not sure.
She dug through her little mind, but nothing came up. She was sure if she ever met these kids, she would remember them somehow. She was not that old to forget about them, right?
Oliver, Caz and Fritz began to chat. Talking amongst themselves about their week. They would sometimes laugh about some joke they made, but (y/n) doubts she would get it.
Susie played with (y/n)'s clothes, speaking about what was on her mind. She spoke excitedly about this new puppy she was getting in a week. (Y/n) nodded onto it, still quite unsure on how to interact with these new children. They all seemed like wonderful friends to have.
Suddenly, another pair of feet came before her. (Y/n) glanced only to see a girl who looked a couple years older than them. She had a shy look in her eyes, her lips pulled up into a small smile.
She had dirty blonde hair that reached to her shoulders and hazel green eyes that shone in the overhead lights. (Y/n) stared dumbfounded at this girl, Susie jumped out of the embrace and threw herself on this newcomer.
"Oh, Susie!" The girl laughed softly, rubbing Susie's back. The other boys realized who was here and all said greetings excitedly to the blonde. She waved back at them timidly.
She turned towards (y/n), a calm overcame her demeanor. (Y/n) stared, confused. Is this another person who claims they know her?
"I hope I'm not too late..." The green-eyed blonde said with a smile, rubbing her feathery, golden locks behind her neck.
"Cassidy!"
"Cas, you're back!"
"I missed you so much!!"
"We have so much to talk about!"
Cassidy grinned at them as they all joined in a group hug. (Y/n) watched them awkwardly, feeling slightly out of place again. Cassidy opened her eyes and stared at the girl, her smile faltering a little.
"C'mon,(y/n)! Join us!" Cassidy said encouragingly. A hopeful look in her green hues. The other kids turned towards the girl, realizing she wasn't with them. They then encouraged her to them.
"Yeah, (y/n)! Come here!"
"Nothing would be complete without you!"
"Come join in on the hug!"
(Y/n) smiled a large, bright smile that could warm ice before jumping towards the large group of children and into their cold embrace. The intrusive feelings before felt at ease.
Fritz ruffled her hair, Oliver rubbed (y/n)'s back with a chuckle, Susie tried to fit everyone in her arms with a laugh, Caz smiled warmly at the young girl he considered his best friend, and Cassidy giggled softly.
It was the beginning of a new friendship. A friendship that shouldn't be happening.
Ghosts are best left at rest, unspoken to, and acknowledged quietly. But how could (y/n) have known of such a rule?
I completely forgot that the five kids have cannon names 👤
So Caz and Oliver are the exception hahahaahahah ahh 👹
