❦ Chapter 72 ❦
Kim Taehyung
A counter here. A dribble there. Finally a roll.
With big eyes, I watched as the men, already slightly sweaty, ran across the field to make as many points as possible. They countered, covered each other and made some cool turns or movements from time to time. I wanted to hit myself for never having watched basketball. I would never have guessed that this ball sport would be so interesting!
When Team Red The Bulls scored another point through a dunk, I clapped excited with my hands and cheered along with the other fans.
Kihyun laughed beside me, who was about to take a sip from his bought Coke, "Well, seems like there's someone enthusiastic about basketball~". I turned to him with bright eyes and nodded excitedly before thanking Jeongguk's cousin again. Anyway, I would start watching the following games, which would be shown on TV.
Kihyun ate some popcorn together with me and we both cheered again and again when our favourite team -The Bulls for me and The Eagels for Kihyun- had made a point.
But while we were both having a great time and devoting our full attention to the game, Jeongguk had been stuck on his cell phone for quite some time. He talked to someone on the phone and covered his other ear. Most likely so he could understand the other person on the other end of the line better.
I didn't quite understand the conversation thanks to the volume, but this conversation was apparently very important for Jeongguk. After all, he had raised his hand -a sign that I shouldn't say a word- when I wanted to talk to him and ask him who he was talking to on the phone.
Maybe it was his parents or a buddy of his, so I didn't think about it anymore, but watched the action on the pitch. In about 7 minutes there was a 30 minute break where the players could rest and the spectators could get some drinks or go to the toilet. By then, Jeongguk had probably finished his phone call.
Others would probably rip his cell phone out of his hand or snap at him for not watching the game, but if this conversation was really important to him, I didn't want to embarrass him. I wasn't a bad person after all.
"You know what I love most about the break?", Kihyun suddenly asked with a grin, turning to him and tilting my head to the side in confusion. Jeongguk's cousin pointed with a finger up at the huge screen, which not only showed the time, but also the score and a close-up of the game.
Kihyun liked this TV or... what? If he wanted such a big device, he could buy it with all his money. After all, the Yoo and Jeon families were very rich and had more money than my whole family together.
Kihyun noticed my questioning look and then explained with a smile, "As soon as this big break is starting, there is a great event coming: The Kiss-Cam! Before you ask what that is, I'll explain it to you. Well, there are many cameras everywhere in the stadium and by chance, two people are always chosen to kiss. Mouth, cheek or forehead are completely irrelevant as long as you kiss each other. You can also refuse of course, but I personally think it's really funny. It's a cool experience~"
With big eyes, I processed his words and felt a rather big anticipation for the break.
At least, Jeongguk and I could get the opportunity to kiss each other intensively in front of such a big crowd. Probably, it would even look like Jeongguk and I would be a couple. After all, you didn't kiss a stranger with your own tongue and sit down on his lap. The thought made me blush and look at the clock on the big screen all the time.
Kihyun stared at me with a short grin and looked back at the big playing field, where the players seemed a bit exhausted. They probably couldn't wait for the break to start either. When it finally rang after an agonizingly long 6 minute game, I was still staring at the big screen.
Shortly the current score was shown, then a small credits appeared, while the players sat down on the benches and rested.
Kiss-Cam Time! appeared with big red letters and big hearts next to it on the screen and I became more and more impatient. I hoped so much that Jeongguk and I would appear so we could kiss in front of all these people. Jeongguk still pressed his cell phone against his ear and continued discussing with the person I didn't know while he took a sip of his drink.
"Okay, my dear viewers," a speaker shouted into the microphone, whereupon the crowd began to cheer and whistle, "You know what's next! It's Kiss-Cam Time! We hope to see a lot of kissing today! So have fun!"
Hastily, I clapped with my hands and shone bright like the sun - I was so excited. The first couple was shown. Two girls, apparently best friends, who first laughed heartily and then gave each other two kisses on the cheek. A big pink heart appeared around them when the two did it, and then the next couple was shown kissing each other on the lips briefly but lovingly.
I bit my lower lip and nervously played with my fingers. More than anything in the world, I wanted Jeongguk and me to appear on this screen. Kihyun just smiled crookedly and tried to calm me down so I wouldn't be so nervous, but he didn't quite make it. Jeongguk didn't notice my tension but was still on the phone with the person on the other end. But then it finally happened.
Jeongguk and I appeared on the big screen. My heart stopped. It was finally happening...
