∫2∫ PIT OF DARKNESS
CHAPTER TWO
˚PIT OF DARKNESS˚
"Now my neck is open wide, begging for a fist around it. Already choking on my pride, so there's no use crying about it."
THE LAST THING Reign expected to do while being held prisoner was to make a friend. Especially since Reign was never good at making friends, nor did she really have any friends before the world fell. But that's exactly who this Bonnie Bennett appeared to be; a friend. She was lost, hopeless, and defeated just like Reign. They were like two identical broken pieces that seemed to hold each other together perfectly for the time being. They kept each other sane, and that was hard to do in this world.
"So Bonnie Bennett, what happened that you ended up in this shitty place?" Reign asked out of boredom, as it appeared they would be stuck in these cells for a while now. Reign thought it'd be best if she at least attempted to make friends.
"Long story short, I was looking for something long before the world collapsed, and found myself here," Bonnie answered casually.
"Oh yeah? What were you looking for?" Reign asked out of curiosity, as she attempted to cover up the noise of her growling stomach.
"Oh nothing important." Bonnie shrugged evasively.
"Where are you from?" Reign wondered, wanting to know more about her new friend.
"A small town in Virginia called Mystic Falls," Bonnie replied.
"That's a long way to come for nothing important." Reign pointed out, suspecting something deeper.
"It was just a cure that could help my friend," Bonnie said. "Where are you from?" She tried to change the topic.
"A cure huh? Like a cure for this whole walker disease?" Reign asked, completely ignoring Bonnie's attempt at changing the topic.
"Listen, it's not important-"
Before Bonnie could finish, a man appeared from the shadows, approaching the two cell mates. For Reign this was the first time she had seen this man, and already she wasn't impressed.
"Who the hell are you supposed to be? Nick fucking Furry?" Reign questioned with a laugh, taking notice of his eyepatch.
The man approached the two of them, keeling down specifically in front of Reign's cell clearly unamused with her remarks.
"And who might you be?" he asked.
"Just someone who doesn't give a rats ass to be here. Mind letting us out?" Reign asked in a mocking tone. She knew it probably wasn't best to mock her kidnapper, but she didn't care.
The man smiled to himself and stood up before waving two men over. They opened the cell and grabbed Reign who quite literally growled and tried to throw a few punches, but she was too weak to go up against two muscular men in her state. She couldn't remember the last time she had anything more than beef jerky, and that action was costing her now.
"Get the fuck off me!" she yelled as the men dragged her by her wrists and her long inky black hair as she furiously fought against their grasp.
"Get off her!" Bonnie shouted from inside her cell.
The men pinned her against the concrete wall, holding her hands up above her head as the man in the eyepatch pulled a knife from his belt, and began to slide it across her wrist. Once he drew blood he backed away, staring at the wound, waiting as if something were supposed to happen.
Reign fought against the men's grasp, but eventually gave up as they all stood there staring at her bleeding hand, the red liquid dripping pointlessly to the floor.
"Huh, that's odd," one man said.
"What's odd? You cut me and I bleed? You people are sick!" Reign yelled.
"Very odd. Throw her back in the cell," the man in the eyepatch said. "We'll figure out something to do with her later."
"You'll figure out what to do with me? Let me out!" Reign screamed. "LET ME OUT!" she bellowed with every ounce of strength she had left inside her tiny body.
The men dragged her across the floor before violently throwing her into her cell sending her head straight into the brick wall. Pain immediately erupted inside her head, shooting down her body like a flaming arrow.
"And you witchy better not try anything. We'll be back later for your daily dose," the one man said before closing the door, and walking out.
"Oh my god, Reign are you okay?" Bonnie gaped, crawling over to the bars that separated the two cells.
Reign held her head in her hands trying to sort things out but all she could see were stars, as if they were guiding her somewhere. As if they were dragging her somewhere she couldn't refuse.
"Don't worry Ray, my friends are coming. We'll be okay," Bonnie assured her.
To Reign, Bonnie's voice sounded like nothing but traffic in the background, slowly fading away as the stars guided her into a bigger pit of darkness, until it consumed her body whole sending her into an involuntary sleep.
◎ ◉ ◎
One of the worst types of nightmares were the ones where your whole body was consumed by it, or worse when the noise from the real world made it's way into your mind.
Reign soon realized that the screams of panic and terror inside her dream weren't such a dream after all as when she opened her eyes, that was exactly what she heard. Tear gas and smoke had creeped its way into the room holding Bonnie and Reign making their vision blurry and their heads ache.
People ran by the open door carrying large guns and only then did the two begin to hear the chaos happening outside. Gun shots rang through their ears, making their whole body jump threatening to shatter their fear filled bones that longed for food, but more importantly freedom.
"HELP!" Bonnie shouted as she pounded against the metal bars.
Reign shook her head and sat up, assisting Bonnie in their cry for help. If all went to hell outside, they feared there may be no one left to let them out.
Just when they thought their fate was starving to death, a raven haired man walked towards them- or to Bonnie rather, his face lit up with joy as he cracked open her cell. His amount of strength startled Reign, and she wasn't sure if it was the hunger, tear gas, or lack of cocaine that was messing with her mind.
Reign could only watch as the man draped Bonnie's arm around his neck, and proceeded to help her out leaving Reign by herself in the cell, alone and helpless just the way she had been the last two months.
"Wait!" Bonnie yelled, turning around. "You have to let her out!"
The man turned to Bonnie in confusion. "Bonnie, no! We don't have time to be saving everyone you make conversation with. If you did we'd be here all day!" the man refused.
"Please, she's innocent!" Bonnie pleaded.
"So was I," the raven haired man muttered before finally giving in and storming over to Reign's cell to break the lock.
He didn't even acknowledge she was there, nor did he care for that matter as he rushed back to Bonnie's side to help her out once he quite literally tore the lock off.
Growling in frustration, Reign got up and walked along the brick wall for support, her mind still threatening to take her back into darkness. Reign wasn't a doctor, but she knew she had some sort of concussion.
She stumbled behind Bonnie and the man, following them to avoid any obstacles. As they passed rooms she couldn't help but notice her bag laying amongst other goods.
She ran to grab it before she could lose the duo she was following as they made their way past all the gunfire and fights. Although she couldn't be sure, Reign thought she could see another group fighting in the crowd, a group that seemd different from the one she was following.
"Hurry up Mulan," the man said once he noticed the sword Reign held in her hand.
She followed suit until they made it past the gate before hiding behind a rusty car to conceal themselves in the darkness of the night.
"We came in just as another group did. Appears Woodbury isn't going to be standing for much longer," the raven haired man said.
"Who's we?" Reign spoke up.
The man jumped up as if he had forgotten Reign was there in the first place. Just as he was about to interrogate Reign, a group of people approached the three of them.
"Oh thank god," Bonnie sighed as she ran towards a brunette and a blonde.
Four other men approach the group, smiles plastered on their faces as they reunited with Bonnie. Reign only watched as the group had their reunion, leaving her feeling like a fish out of water.
"This Mulan, is 'we'."
