• Epilogue •

The idea that anything can be everlasting is a false statement. Everlasting gives the idea that something will stay the same, consistent and never changing forever as long as the world spins. My body itself may be everlasting, frozen in time but my life is not.

So much has happened during the course of my life, so much to remember, so much I wish I could forget. There is yet one person who I never want to forget again, and he happens to be sitting by my side as I speak. The precious memory of him was stolen from me once too many times, but finally we have reached a place of happiness.

It's been fifteen years since I first awakened from the tomb, thirteen years since James and I got married. Theo is growing up everyday, doing amazing in school and preparing himself for a future. He's seventeen now, and has earned himself a scholarship for med school, in which he wishes to heal people. I know he intends to use his magic, but he argued with James and I that he would rather put his talent to good use than to let it be taken advantage of; god knows the world is still filled with people like Kai that wish to do harm upon others by stealing power. Theo knows by now what James and I really are, but he still loves us all the same. He knows that there will come a point where James and I must move away for a bit, in order to prevent suspicion about a teen whose parent's haven't aged a day. But, until that time comes James and I will stay in Mystic Falls.

All us Salvatore's have gone our separate ways, and moved out of the boarding house. After Damon and Elena took the cure, they moved out into the city where they began to start their lives. It wasn't until two years later that they returned back home to Mystic Falls with a newborn baby girl cradled in their arms, in whom they soon later named Jennifer after Elena's aunt Jenna. They bought a house in the suburbs near where Elena grew up, and visit James and I every now and then.

Stefan on the other hand has spent his last years travelling the world along side Caroline, his fiancé. They are due to be married in a couple months, and since Caroline did such a phenomenal job at my wedding, I promised to do the same to hers. For a while Stefan and Caroline just remained partners, dating even for a while, but they mostly spent their time living their lives together. As we speak, they are probably sitting in a boat on the coast of Greece.

As for Alaric, he and Jo had two beautiful twin girls, and still to this day live in Mystic Falls. Alaric finally found peace after everything he had lost, and finally he was able to build the family he deserved. I'm happy for him to say the least.

Bonnie finally found the kind of happiness she deserved, and it happened to be with the last person I'd expect to see her with. Enzo and her connected in a way I never thought possible. They just get one another, and are an overall fun couple. They've spent their past few years living all over the place, living in a different city each year. This year they're living in Charlottetown, located in Prince Edward Island on the east coast of Canada. Despite how much they travel, they never fail to return home to Mystic Falls every Christmas.

Joel and Logan are doing quite well, and remain close intimate partners. They're always up and moving, never settling down. As the years have passed, Logan remains human while Joel never ages, and I can tell Joel is growing sadder each day. I feel bad for him, yet I respect Logan's choice of staying human. It just displays how valuable time is, and that makes every moment Joel and Logan spend together a more memorable one.

All of us are living our lives, free of any more supernatural disturbances and psychotic enemies. We fought all those years to protect Mystic Falls, and now we're finally free. Caroline even went as far as turning the empty Salvatore Boarding house into a school for the gifted, a place where people like Theo and Hope could learn to handle their abilities. It's where we help bring good from the supernatural, to spread positivity for the future. It's even where Hope and Theo met one another, and are now currently dating- something that Klaus isn't very found of.

As for Klaus and Elijah, they return every now and then to their mansion in Mystic Falls, where they stay with Hope between trips from the gifted school back to New Orleans. Klaus and I have settled our differences, and remain great friends. However I will forever owe Klaus for saving James and I at the night of our wedding, the night where Kai almost destroyed everything I had going for me. At the same time we're even, considering Klaus stole memories of James from me long ago, and for all the times he hurt me and my brothers, not to mention forcing Elijah to turn me way back then. I'm happy to say all the bad he's done has been subsided by the good. I've learned to make peace with my past so it doesn't spoil my present.

Lastly, as for James and I we found ourselves a nice house on the edge of Mystic Falls. It's closer to the forest instead of the suburbs, which is exactly where I wanted it. The forest gives me peace of mind, and I would much rather that than having to look out my bedroom window at a brick wall. I never returned to Atlanta, and quit the career of graphic designing. Instead James and I decided to open up an Art Gallery and museum in Mystic Falls, placed in the centre of town. The building complex itself took a year to build, and business is going steady. We have displays of artifacts from our own historic town, along with old paintings accompanied by new, modern ones drawn by Klaus and I. I know it sounds weird that we opened up a museum, but after all I've experienced and I've learned how important memories are, and I felt as if it were my responsibility to show others how valuable time really is, and how we should appreciate the memories that society takes for granted. The gallery even includes a five-star restaurant run by the one and only Chef James Branson, complete with an art studio above. James and I got to turn what we loved doing most into a career, into a life. In addition, Matt allows me to help him with forensic cases every now and then seeing as I'm probably the worlds best detective.

Wherever us Salvatore's go, we always seem to find our way back home in the small town of Mystic Falls. It's where we grew up, where we lived and where we now live. It is the same place that carried horrible memories yet holds future ones that present good. I always said I wanted to get out of this town, but that was before I realized what the rest of the world is like. In this town all is good, all is peaceful, and as long as we're around things will stay that way.

"What are you writing about?" James asks, wrapping his arms around my torso from behind me. I look up from my notebook and send him a warm smile. I've decided to start writing books about my life, almost like a diary. It's something I wish I'd done sooner, as they could have helped me in a time when my memories were missing, stolen from me.

"Life," I say, leaning my head back against his chest. "Do you think we're doing okay at it?" I ask curiously, staring out the window at the beautiful evergreen forest.

"At what?" he whispers into my neck, sending tingles down my spine.

"At life." I laugh lightly.

"No you suck at it," Joel yells sarcastically from behind us, walking through the door. He barges in at the weirdest times.

I can feel James rolling his eyes as I let out a light chuckle. "What are you doing here Joel?" James yells out to his brother.

"Borrowing your butter," he replies, rummaging through the kitchen. "Elena needs some for this cake she's making for the BBQ tonight, and she's too lazy to go to the store." He shrugs.

"Why the hell do you need butter?" Theo asks, walking through the door, eyeing Joel plopping a stick of butter into a plastic bag.

"Language." James warns, sending Theo a look. Theo only rolls his eyes, being a typical teenager as he rummages through the kitchen with Joel, the two of them the same hight now. It feels like yesterday Joel was just cradling him in his arms, hushing him to sleep.

"Sorry," Theo rephrases, "why the bloody hell do you need butter?" he asks in a sarcastic tone.

"Nice!" Joel compliments, holding his hand out for Theo to clap, as if congratulating him for his use of sarcasm."He's learned from the best," Joel says dramatically, placing a hand over his heart.

"I'm not so sure, I'm pretty much the queen of sass," I state, walking into the kitchen with James.

"That is false." Joel shakes his head.

"Actually uncle Joel, my mom is right. I think she could out sass you any day." Theo shrugs, causing Joel to express a look of hurt on his face.

"Thanks Tee." I laugh, giving him a high-five.

James and I stand there with wide grins on our faces, watching as Joel and Theo fight over the last drop of coffee in the pot. I feel an overwhelming sense of joy inside me right now, as everything is finally at peace. "By the way," James whispers in my ear, "I think we're doing pretty bloody good at it." He chuckles in my ear.

"Yes." I whisper. "Yes we are."

˙ ˙ ˙

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Life is the absolute worse thing to ever happen, but without life there isn't love, and without love there is no reason to live. I found the strength through love to live in my darkest times, from when I was in the tomb to when I was ruled by the darkest parts of me controlled by a simple switch. I found the courage to survive my darkest nightmares, and face them every night. But most importantly, I found hope when I thought everything was lost, from the one and only thing worth living for; love.

So now, I hold my story close to my heart in hopes it will help me get through worse times in the future. I was able to survive my everlasting death only to be brought to an everlasting nightmare that could only be cured by my everlasting love.

My face, soul and heart may be everlasting, but time is not, and that very truth is a vampire's worse enemy, but also best friend.

Until forever,
