1 • Psychic at Sea

[A/N: Buckle up...]

The soft and precious semi-silence of the brisk morning wind blew by a Titan and its resident.

The Titan was certainly on the smaller side, but towered over your average individual by more than four hundred feet in standing height.

The green fur and stony scales of the Titan stood out vividly amongst the sea of foam, and it's neck reared to its resident.

"Anything yet?" An aged and worn voice asked.

"Nothing that resembles treasure. Just creatures and the like. The sea's so deep vast I may have skimmed over a few thi-..." The recipient trailed off.

"Got something. Not too far either. Easy catch." They continued.

A boy sighed and opened his eyes. He rose his body from his bored, sprawled figure on the floor, and walked to the edge of the Titan. His icy blue glint in his eyes shone through the misty waters below as he extended his hand towards the clouds.

A cosmic blue emit from his hand, that swirled into a turquoise energy, only protruding from the palm side of his hand for increased precision.

"To this day, you are a wonder to me. Such abilities have never been graced these days... Actually finding a Celestite is a feat not even the oldest of Titans can brag about." The Titan said with a hum, amused by the boy's powers.

"We've been traveling for almost a year. I was sure the twelve-thousandth time would've bored you." The boy said with a small smile.

Leaning over a steel crate, the boy eyed a box full of a rare, raw materials only found through mines, or actual advanced and professional salvage teams, regularly recovered from fallen transport ships.

"Terrific haul. There's even some phinite. Ready for the swing back to the Trade Guild?" The boy asked.

"Are you sure, Corryn. I know it's been quite some time, but they'll surely remember the last incident..." the Titan said with worry.

"I'll be fine, Azurda. I talked to the head-huncho, and he recognized the misunderstanding." Corryn reassured, but he himself was stressing, noted by the look in his eyes.

"I can handle it." Corryn nodded, now reassuring himself.

~•~

Azurda orderly docked beside an air ship with a blimp like structure, and watched Corryn slowly descend down, hair and clothes fluttering with a small green glow.

He landed, and flicked his wrist up to make steel crate with his materials follow him, his concentration not needed to do such a simple task.

"Corryn! You're back! It's been two months- how've ya' been?!" A young man asked with admiration.

"Great. Here's the haul, and the pay. This one's pretty epic so make sure you've got it secure." Corryn said with a smirk, tossing the gold and walking by.

"Of course! Off to sell?" The man asked. "Yep. Be right back after I negotiate." Corryn nodded.

Corryn walked down the dock of the massive floating guild, the red building four times the size of Azurda, but still smaller than your continental Titan.

A eerie, dark, motorized airship was docked further down, and Corryn took note of such an odd spectacle. It was certainly larger and lengthier than Azurda, which was something he'd definitely need to look out for.

In the midst of his thoughts he didn't even notice the whispers, murmurs, and even cheers and chants of his name.

Almost as if in auto-pilot, Corryn walked away from the main desk, and waving at the Nopon he traded with and held a quite loaded sack of gold.

Note, this was only half the value of the trade. The other half was sent to a place in need.

Unable to get too far away, another Nopon walked up to him.

"Oh, Pupunin. How may I help you?" Corryn asked politely.

"Corryn! Pleasant to have Corryn back! A new job has arrived, just as you, for you!" Pupunin said with a wave. "You should go straight to boardroom of chairman. Chairman Bana ask for Corryn by name!"

"Wow. A job from the chairman. I'll head there now. Thanks, Pupunin." Corryn said jogging away.

"You requested me, Chairman?" Corryn asked, nodding his head in respect to the rotund cyan nopon with a lavender ponytail and mustache.

"Thank you for accepting summons! I, Bana, Chairman of Argentum Trade Guild, have made a special request for such a salvager of high renown." Bana said quickly getting to business.

Ignoring the giggles from two women dressed in provocative clothing, Corryn continued.

"A salvage job?" He asked.

"Indeed. Reward is 100,000 gold." Bana nodded with smug.

"...oh." Corryn said with a blank stare.

"Actually, that just the advance. Another 100,000 provided upon completing job." Bana said with a shrug, making Corryn hum, hand on his chin.

"Here. Crew will explain the task." Bana said, gesturing to the large door to his left, and Corryn's right.

A gear system unwinded, letting the door separate and reveal a dark hall, but the sound of footsteps and a bit of metal let Corryn know people were approaching.

The luminescent glow of two blades, in the form of a white tiger, and a bipedal dragon, were the first to catch Corryn's eye. Three others walked out, one in all black armor with a smug smirk on his face, one in a light steel armor and a mask over his eyes, horns protruding from the forehead. And lastly, a woman in a mainly yellow jumpsuit, standing proudly by the white tiger.

Corryn kept quiet, glancing at each and every one of them, his glazed icy blue eyes glowing similarly to the blades accessories.

"So..." the man in the mask, with white wild hair down to his mid-back began.

"There's something that we want t haul up. There were some current shifts. It showed up in an uncharted area. But, it's a long way down. The potential water pressure alone is enough to scare most crews." The man explained.

"..." Corryn's silence was noted.

"Bana offered to assemble team of veterans for this job. But this crew very picky. Much interest in, the 'Psychic at Sea.'" Bana commented.

"But, we're hiring a child, Jin?" The woman, who Corryn now noticed to have cat ears, asked with a chuckle.

"Are you?" Corryn asked seriously, staring at her. "Cause I don't think I'm worth just two hundred grand." He added.

"What?" The woman asked in shock.

"Then let's see." The black-haired man in even darker armor grinned.

With a sudden lunge, almost too quick for Corryn, he drew a blade shaped like a flame, gleaming blue with ether. As the sword descended, Corryn sent just a small glance at the man, before he was sent skidding back to where he stood, even forced to lean against the wall.

Corryn's eyes shone just a bit, and the only evidence of movement, was his left index finger slightly pointed in the man's direction.

"Malos, what the hell?! You can't swing on a child!" The woman asked in shock. "You said it yourself, Nia. He's a kid. Gotta make sure he's up to it. He's more than so, we can see." Malos said with a small smile, the arrogant look on his face making Corryn slightly squint his eyes.

"So... you really are a Celestite. Psychic powers beyond compare... that's revolutionary this day and age." Malos continued.

Corryn simply turned back to Bana, and nodded.

"I'll take the job." He said with a sigh.

"Here is advance." Bana said placing an even bigger bag of gold on his desk.

"I'll be by the Titan at the end of the dock." Corryn said, glancing at the five.

~•~

After explaining the situation to Azurda, he was a bit discontent with the lack of information given from his employer, but a job a big as this was a good one none the less.

After depositing the day's spoils, Corryn hopped off of Azurda and watched Nia, her blade, Dromarch, and the other three approach, yet the latter was a distance away.

That however, was besides the point, a man in actual salvaging gear, walked up to Corryn and began to converse with him, before the two nodded, and Corryn waved to Azurda.

With a day or two on the line, Corryn had nightwatch, so he was able to rest for a minority of the day.

Alas, night fell, leaving Corryn to sit atop the look out at the very top of the ship, eyes closed as he sensed for disturbances. The only being the massive black ship from before that was tailing them.

He payed it no mind, since he knew it belonged to his employers.

"Ugh. It's way too cold up here." Nia said from behind him. Corryn didn't react, and continued to sit on the railing in peace.

"They're boozin' below decks if you're interested." Nia informed, making him look back in disbelief.

"...I'm seventeen." Corryn said making Nia smile. "Knew you were a kid." She said with a chuckle. "So... what's your name?" Nia asked curiously, settling whatever issues had arose before.

"Corryn." He answered, falling back but floating on his back as well, glowing slightly.

"Amazing... I heard from Jin that Celestites were like, an ancient race with powerful psychic abilities, the only race to actually keep their gift from the Architect... but, as soon as we were banished, they all went into isolation. Is that true?" Nia asked.

"No clue. As I said, I'm seventeen. That was many, many years ago. I haven't been to Celestine." Corryn answered.

"Is that what it's called?" Nia mumbled.

"My mom left Azurda with very little information... probably so they couldn't tie the place back to me. But I'm certain it exist. A small place for them to cower." Corryn shrugged as he levitated.

"Cower?"

"They're in hiding. They don't want to be used for warfare. It's not wrong, but to isolate yourselves as a race from society. I'm here because my mom said I had a place in the world... haven't found it yet." Corryn said slowly descending to the floor of the lookout.

"..." Nia looked at the only of his kind to set foot out in the world, wanting to make a difference.

"Hey, I'm sure you'll find it someday. You're young, with plenty of time ahead of you." Nia said crouching down and ruffling his hair.

"You're alright, kid. Be seeing ya'." She said with a smile, standing up and leaving.

Hours had past into the night, and it was even raining now. Corryn was slightly dozing off atop of the lookout, but he was soon awoken by an announcement.

"We are in position. All personnel, report to stations. Salvage team, suit up and proceed to hatch."

Corryn was quick to leap off the look out and toward the geared salvage team, landing in between them and following after.

"Your target is located inside of a shipwreck nearly 600 peds straight down. Searching the wreck while submerged is life-threatening, so, we have Corryn here to bring it up." The captain of the crew stated.

"Next, you'll split into teams and explore the interior. Once the target is found the retrieval can commence. If that's clear, whenever you're ready, Corryn." The captain said with a nod.

Everyone watched as Corryn stood at the edge of the ship, staring out at sea with a bored gaze.

With a sudden gleam in his eye, an massive array of light shone from the depths of the sea, growing closer by the second.

Corryn extended his hand, palm upward, before thrusting it up, on que with a massive ship thrice the size of a the black ship from before. The size alone made everyone awe at how such an ancient transport was so large, and even Corryn surprised himself since all he received was a migraine and a nosebleed from such a humongous haul.

"The appearance matches our reports. But it's what's inside that matters." Malos muttered, watching the salvage team place flotation devices along the sides of ship, so Corryn didn't strain himself.

"Object secure! Proceed to second phase." The captain ordered.
