Hýãëňøďøņ (ńóť áçțůåļľý äŕţ)

Ok, so I just got this dude in a game I play (you should play it too, super fun! It's called Jurassic World The Game.)

I'm already obsessed with this species!!! I mean, just look at how cute and majestic he is:

I did some research into this dude, and hes so cool! (Credits to ThoughtCo. for the info ^^ (the stuff in parentheses is stuff I added))

----------------------

Hyaenodon (hi-YAY-en-oh-don) means "hyena tooth" in Greek. It was a creodont (a class of carnivorous mammals that died out shortly after the dinosaurs) and the largest of them were around the size of a wolf, and the smallest species around the size of a house cat. They lived in North America, Eurasia, and Africa.

They ate meat, and are thought to have lived like wolves and scavenged sometimes like hyenas. Their jaws were powerful enough to snap their prey's neck in one bite (most likely their favored way of hunting.) Their back teeth were suited to tearing apart meat, and their palate (roof of their mouth) was long enough that they could breathe comfortably while eating.

They were typically 1-5 feet long and weighed from 5-100 pounds.

They competed with Amphicyons (known as the "bear dog". They were a lot bigger than the Hyaenodons and lived solitary lives) Amphicyons were "just as lethal, bite-wise  as Hyaenodon, but they were also better adapted for hunting scurrying herbivores across the wide plains of the later Cenozoic Era." (ThoughtCo.)

More on the Amphicyons from ThoughtCo.:

Amphicyon means "ambiguous dog" in Greek. They looked similar to a bear with a dogs head.

They lived in the plains of the Northern Hemisphere, and they were up to 6 feet long and 400 pounds.

According to ThoughtCo, they "probably pursued a bear-like lifestyle as well, feeding opportunistically on meat, carrion, fish, fruit, and plants.

The front legs of this prehistoric mammal were especially well-muscled, meaning it could probably stun prey senseless with a single well-aimed swipe of its paw."

Ok, so they both sound awesome! I feel like I'm going to end up making a lot of ocs of both of these XD Theres also Smilodon (saber tooth) and Sarkastodon (a bear like creodont, also one of the largest creodonts.)
