Chapter Three: "Arrival at the Burrows"

Another break, another chapter. Nick and Judy have been dispatched by Bogo to Judy's home, the BunnyBurrows, but not without overhearing a conversation between two ZPD officers about a city called Savage City which is told to be closed off to the outside. With the thought of Savage City in mind, Nick and Judy head out to BunnyBurrows to catch this 'mysterious mammal' moving towards BunnyBurrows.

I don't know how much time has passed, but soon enough, through the trees, I see what looks like another building. Thank goodness. I'm getting tired already from walking. A groan from behind me makes me freeze in my tracks. Such a groan I'm used to, but what on Earth is one doing this close to Zotoopia? Surely they're aware of what's going on back at my home if corpses are this close to BunnyBurrows, to say the least. I turn around, expecting to see a larger mammal, but I'm shocked to my paws to see another bunny, staring hungrily at me, those same undead eyes I've seen ever since the outbreak.

"I'm sorry," I say, pulling out my knife before throwing it right into its neck, jerking it to the ground. I step on the handle, pinning it to the dirt. "This shouldn't be happening. You should be living a normal life, my friend," I say, lifting my hind paw off of the knife. I sit down beside the bunny, looking it over, which was a mistake, as I see my parents in this poor bunny. "I'll get help for you guys. I promise," I whisper to myself, looking in the general direction of my home as I pull the knife from the bunny corpse's neck. I wipe the blade down before tossing that rag aside, sheathing my knife.

"Time to get help," I say, as I notice more buildings, realizing that I've reached BunnyBurrows. Safe haven at last. Or, so I hope, with corpses being this close. Scares me now. I stand up and carefully make my way to the edge of the woods near BunnyBurrows, going through multiple plans on how I'll explain what's going on back home. I just hope some mammal will believe me.

[at BunnyBurrow Station. Nick and Judy's POV]

"Now arriving at BunnyBurrows." The automated announcement says, waking Nick from his nap. He stirs a bit, giving a light groan that catches Judy's attention, turning to face Nick, who has now woken up from his nap.

"We here, Carrots?" Nick asks, rubbing his eyes. Judy sits herself normally in the seat, still facing Nick, who struggles to sit upright.

"Yeah. Come on," Judy says, standing up. Still having sleep lingering in his body, Nick makes his way upright and follows Judy to the doors of the train, ready to finally see BunnyBurrows. The train pulls into the station, the brakes slowly, but surely not quietly, slowing it down, until it settles to a halt, the automation taking a second before deciding it's safe to open the doors for its passengers. Nick and Judy are the first off the train, Judy's eyes searching left and right to see if her parents are waiting for her.

"Judy!" A voice calls. Judy's ears perk up upon hearing her name, now both her eyes and ears trying to figure out which way the voice came, before settling on the familiar figure of Bonnie Hopps.

"Nick! Come on!" Judy says before taking of in a steady gait towards her mom, Nick following, shrugging off any remaining feeling of sleep he still had. "Mom! Hi!" Judy says as she walks up to her mom, the two hugging each other. Nick only smirks as he walks up to the two bunnies. Bonnie's eyes open to the sight of Nick in uniform.

"Oh, hi there!" Bonnie says, letting Judy go. "You must be Nick Wilde," Bonnie asks.

"Yes. You must be Carrots' mother?" Nick asks. Bonnie nods in response, but her smile fades as she notices a tenseness in Nick and Judy's posture.

"You two alright?" Bonnie asks, before another realization crosses her mind. "Judy. Why are you two in uniform?" Bonnie asks instead. Judy only sighs.

"Bogo told us that there's been report of a suspicious mammal making his way here. He wanted us here for when he gets here. Probably to apprehend him," Judy explains. Bonnie stands there silent for a moment.

"Alright. Well, in the meantime, do you want to come home? I'm sure your father would be more than happy to see you," Bonnie says. This alone pulls a smile to Judy's face as she turns to nick, silently pleading with him, who only nods. Judy, happy with Nick's comply, turns to Bonnie.

"Alright! Let's go!" Judy says, before Nick and her start following Bonnie to their blue farm truck.

[Jack's POV]

Alright. I've finally come to a way on how to tell people, although I will admit, I did need that rest. Breathing up some courage, I start off towards the nearest house, worried on the resident's reactions. I'm almost to the house, until I see a blue truck in its driveway. I don't know why, but seeing that blue truck in the driveway makes me freeze. I haven't really talked to any other non-infected mammal for a while.

"It's go time," I say, preparing myself for anything. Well. Almost anything. I hear a few voices talking inside as I walk up to the door, only to find myself shaking. Alright. I can do this. I can do this. I raise my paw and let it tap on the door a few times.

"Can you get the door?" I hear from inside. It's not but a few seconds later that the door is pulled open. Seeing who it is, I freeze in my paws, shocked at who answered the door. None other than the bunny in uniform from my nightmare earlier. Judy Hopps. We just stand on opposite sides of the door, staring at each other before she comes to her senses and draws her weapon, aiming at me. In an unfound instinct of mine, I raise my paws before my plead comes to mind.

"Drop your weapon from your shoulder," She says. Hearing her voice in mammal gives me an unreal feeling, like a dream again. Her voice is actually quite... Cute. Realizing authority, I carefully and slowly grab the sling of my KA-47 and slide it out from around my body before carefully laying it down on the ground, putting my paws back in the air. I look back up at Judy, dread filling me even more as I see a red fox in uniform behind her. Nicholas Wilde. Two famous figures right in front of me. Is this a dream?

"Who are you?" Judy asks, her voice stern like a repeated question. This brings to my mind the reason why I came to Zootopia in the first place. To plead for help. To plead for the survival of my home.

"My name is Jack Sean. I ask that you please let me go. I need your help," I say. Way to go, Jack. Way to screw up your plea. But, it seems like it works, as Judy seems to relax a bit. I can't believe it. This seems almost too easy.

"What do you want?" Judy asks, her weapon still pointed at me. Alright. Here's the decider on whether I'll get the ZPD's help or not. Don't screw yourself over. Don't, screw yourself over just because of Hopps.

"I- I need your help," I start. Come on, Jack! You're screwing yourself over! In front of Hopps! Get it together. "I came here from Savage City," I continue. I must have said something right, because Judy lowers her gun, her face expressing that of surprise, and turns to Nick, who looks a little surprised as well. Maybe word did get to Zootopia about my home. Judy turns back around to face me, her weapon down by her side.

"You're from Savage City?" Judy asks, like I didn't say it clearly before. Which I probably didn't because I was so nervous. Judy, once again, turns to face Nick, who nods after a silent second. Seriously, how do people do that? They just look at each other and it's like they know what the other's going to ask. Judy holsters her weapon and steps aside, motioning for me to come in, which, after carefully picking up my KA-47, I hesitantly walk in, only to be met by two more country bunnies staring at me.

"Judy? Do you know this bunny?" The female country bunny asks. Wait. Do these bunnies know Judy? Fluff. What am I asking myself? Of course. What bunny doesn't know Judy?

"No. But he says he's from Savage City," Judy says, facing the two bunnies, who seem surprised as well, but not as much as Nick and Judy. I don't know why I find that as odd as I do.

"Why, Savage City? Well, you're quite a ways away from home, aren't you?" The male bunny asks me. Great. I'm put on the spot in front of mammals I don't even know. I was not really prepared for this.

"And what's with the weapons?" Nick asks. Finally! A question I can answer! I can't help but chuckle as I shake my head slowly before looking up at Nick.

"That. I can answer. I hope you all have time, as this is a long story," I say. Nick sits down on a couch beside Judy, them seeming ready to listen. Wow. That was easy. Now, comes the problem of them believing me. I take a breath, ready to explain my story.

Chapter Three! Now, our three characters all make it to BunnyBurrows, but not without an undead bunny following Jack around in the woods. After a bit of self-contemplation and taking care of the corpse, Jack goes up to the nearest house to ask for help, only for our three characters to finally meet awkwardly. A bit of a scurry happens before Jack reveals that he's from Savage City, and he needs help. Judy, remembering what Nick and her heard about Savage City, trusts Jack and lets him inside, wanting to know about Savage City. Deja vu, and feel free to drop a vote, and a review is always welcome, too! Thank you, and I'll see you in the next one! Bye guys (and gals)!
